‘Harry Potter’ World Cup: Help Decide The Best Character!

Voting opens Monday on the MTV Movies Blog to finally put this debate to rest. By Eric Ditzian Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Photo: Warner Bros. Are you a Dumbledore guy or gal? Perhaps you’re keen on Hermione and Harry? Or maybe you shun the high-profile faces and hold a special place in your heart for Moaning Myrtle or Nearly Headless Nick? Who truly is the greatest “Harry Potter” character of all time? That’s a debate fans have been having since J.K. Rowling published her first novel about a boy wizard in 1997 and one that continues to rage as the final film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” nears its July 15 debut. And you know what? It’s time to finally put this fantastical argument to rest! Get ready for MTV News’ “Harry Potter” World Cup , a monthlong tournament pitting 64 “Potter” characters against one another to see which will be decided solely by online fan voting. Check out the full bracket with all the supernatural matchups, then study up and get ready to vote when the first round kicks off Monday, June 20, at MoviesBlog.MTV.com . Check out photos of all 60 of the “Harry Potter” World Cup players. The single-elimination tournament will proceed from round to round with the intensity of the fiercest of Quidditch matches, with some characters falling by the wayside and others continuing to fight the good fight. It’s all leading up to the epic championship round. The two finalists will be announced Monday, July 11. Voting will continue through MTV News’ live-stream coverage of the “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” red-carpet premiere in New York City, with the winner crowned at the end of the event. 50 Cent Blasts His Label On Twitter

‘I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page,’ Fif tweets. By Rob Markman 50 Cent Photo: Christopher Polk/ WireImage On Thursday morning (June 16), 50 Cent took to Twitter, blasting Interscope Records and saying he wouldn’t be releasing his Black Magic album this year unless he and his label can find some common ground. “Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh– feels like there moving in slow motion,” he tweeted around 9 a.m. ET. “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page.” Soon after, he fired off : “My whole career iv been doing sh– and they have been playing catch up this is the last f—ing album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK.” A source close to 50 confirmed to MTV News that he is, in fact, tweeting from the account and it has not been hacked. On April 18, the Southside Jamaica, Queens, rapper tweeted that he was going to drop the album’s lead single during that week, but never did. When MTV News caught up with him a few days later on the L.A. set of Nicole Scherzinger’s “Right There” video, 50 backtracked , saying that instead, he opted to work with Interscope rather than independent of them. “I tweeted something about the actual single,” 50 Cent said. “While I’m out here, I got a meeting, I gotta sit with Jimmy [Iovine, chairman of Interscope/Geffen/A&M], I gotta sit with the guys that push the button. I’ve done it by myself on my other albums, ’cause I got my own radio staff. And I worked the record and get it to 500 spins and then let them kick in. But I think it’s better to just go with the entire building, have everybody on deck so they understand my plans for this project.” Judging from Fif’s tweets on Thursday, it’s safe to assume that those meetings didn’t go so well. “I worked really hard on this album I’m not gonna let it come out like some bullsh–. Lady Gaga’s ‘Edge Of Glory’ Video: What Can We Expect?

MTV News rounds up clues about the video, which premieres Thursday on ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Matt Harper/ MTV News On Thursday night (June 16), on “So You Think You Can Dance,” Lady Gaga is set to premiere her “Edge of Glory” music video . What will it look like? How will she top herself? Little is known about what to expect, but with Gaga, anything is possible. As producer Fernando Garibay told MTV News, the song was inspired by the death of Gaga’s grandfather and was written while on the road. It features one of Gaga’s childhood icons, E Street Band sax player Clarence Clemons, who suffered a stroke over the weekend. “In bed with Mommy thinking about Clarence,” Gaga tweeted on Monday. “I can’t wait for you to see the beautiful video we made together. He’s a really special person.” Clemons performed “Edge of Glory” with Gaga on “American Idol,” where her stage looked like a cross between Stonehenge and the Aggro Crag on “Guts” — which could reveal some visual clues about the new video. This isn’t the first rodeo for Gaga and the video’s director, Joseph Kahn : They previously collaborated on her videos for “Eh Eh” and “LoveGame.” As for the concept, a leaked casting notice might shed some light on it. Late last month, a notice called for a “Puerto Rican or Dominican type badass” who “must be willing to kiss Lady Gaga … Think Enrique Iglesias.” The casting call was also seeking “Couture Doctors” who will wear smocks and black gloves, adding “think ‘Dr. 90210.’ ” Other roles include a “male or female on-air reporter” and a group of military men to hold M16 rifles. Gaga’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson, simply teased to Rap-Up.com, “I just know that we’ll be feeling very fishy.” Fishy certainly was the theme of her performance on “Le Grand Journal,” where she donned mermaid couture — perhaps a hint about what fans should expect in the video. Selena Gomez Blames Poor Eating Habits For Illness

She appeared on the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning radio show on Thursday (June 16), days after performing in Santa Monica , appearing healthy and in good spirits and updating fans on how she’s feeling. “I’m good now, thank you. I’m so much better,” she told Kraddick in her home state of Texas. “I do eat. The problem is I don’t eat right. I love everything that’s possibly not good for me.” The singer was treated at the hospital on June 9 for food poisoning and exhaustion after becoming ill following her appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.” Gomez said she’s trying to get her diet back on track and has a special someone — her mother — helping her out. “She’s definitely shoving vitamins down my throat and following me around,” she explained about the steps her “supermom” is taking to get her healthy again. “But at the same time, I was a stubborn kid, so I got to eat whatever I wanted. I have to have creamed spinach or cheese on my broccoli. I have to have something that makes it not healthy.” So, what else does she love to eat? “I love M&M’s, Kit Kats, Snickers and Goobers at the movies,” she admitted. Although fans showed support for Gomez when they found out she was ill, she confessed that sometimes it’s hard to be famous. But she’s not letting it stop her from living her life. “It’s a very hard thing because for me, it’s not about being public about anything, but I don’t want to live my life being afraid of what people are going to say about me,” she said of dating and living life in the public eye. “I lived that way for the first four years I was in the business and I was very unhappy.” Related Photos Selena Gomez Performs At The Santa Monica Mall

What Will Britney Spears Wear On Her Femme Fatale Tour?

Costume designer Zaldy Goco gave fans a sneak peek at the sparkles and studs she’ll wear when tour kicks of Thursday. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: C Flanigan/FilmMagic It’s almost here! Britney Spears launches her Femme Fatale tour on Thursday, and her team has given fans a sneak peek of the looks she’ll be showing off onstage. Costume designer Zaldy Goco spoke to “Extra” about Spears’ glittering, sexy outfits for the tour, which kicks off in Sacramento, California, with equally sexy opening act Nicki Minaj. “Well, I mean the real inspiration, of course, is Britney herself. But there’s a creative script done by the director, Jamie King, and it’s a whole thing about the femme fatale and femme fatales throughout the ages, so we have all kinds of costumes where she’s changing personas throughout the show,” he shared. “Everything is very sexy; Britney’s a very sexy girl.” The looks he shared include lots of sparkles and body-hugging designs, that include a pink latex jacket paired with a nude bodysuit to be featured in the second act of the show, a Marilyn Monroe-inspired white flowing dress, a few gladiator-inspired gold-mirrored options, pink-chrome-studded leather and denim, as well as a “Toxic”-inspired catsuit. For the finale, she wears a kimono, with an anime version of herself silkscreened on one sleeve, over a sparkling, black bodysuit that has LED lights built into it. Previously teased was a giant pair of angel wings that Spears will also wear at some point during the show. For those wondering what Spears looks like in the costumes, fansite BreatheHeavy.com got sent some snaps of the singer rocking some of the looks, including the kimono, the studded denim and a gold-mirrored bikini. Kid Cudi ‘Stepped Up’ His Acting On ‘How To Make It In America’

By Rob Markman Kid Cudi Photo: MTV News Scott Kid Cudi Mescudi made his acting debut last year as party animal Domingo Brown on HBO’s “How to Make It In America.” While he was satisfied with his performance, this year, he aims to make strides. “This season, my character has a lot more depth than the first season, and one of the things that I really took seriously was preparing. I got an acting coach; I wanted to step it up,” Cudi told MTV News after filming a scene for season two. “With anything that I’m doing, I always want to take it to the next level — whether it’s music or acting.” The first step toward the G.O.O.D. Music rapper/singer’s acting growth was to review tape, similar to how professional athletes analyze game film. “One thing that I did, I studied the first season, I studied my performance. I knew that I was gonna get a lot more this season,” he said. “I wanted to deliver. I wanted to make the people at HBO happy. I wanted to make my management happy.” Cudi also kept his series co-stars in mind using Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk as motivation to get better. “I wanted to be able to step on the camera with cats like Victor and Bryan Greenberg, who are pros at this sh–, guys who have been doing it for years, and to be able to do a scene with those guys and maintain and really deliver with the focus. I really feel like I stepped it up a whole lot, and I’m excited to see it.” The budding thespian may have to wait a few more weeks to watch: As of now, the series is rumored to begin airing during the summer with no specific date announced yet. When season two does eventually air, fans can expect to see Cudi’s Domingo with an expanded role and a little more depth. “The biggest lesson I’ve learned, I guess, is just the focus part of it, transforming into this character,” he said. “First season, my character was in six out of eight episodes, and I kinda popped up and I was here and there, and my character was more perceived as the party guy. By Kara Warner Selena Gomez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage Despite the fact that Selena Gomez had to cancel her appearance at the Santa Monica Place mall last Friday, plenty of screaming Selena fans returned to see her rescheduled performance at the mall on Monday afternoon, where Gomez thanked the crowd for their support and revealed that she was “feeling much better” after being hospitalized briefly over the weekend. Following her two-song set, MTV News caught up with a few of Gomez’s die-hard fans, who expressed their love and well-wishes for the 18-year-old star. “I really love her,” young fan Kirsten Mitchell gushed. “I still love her voice, I still love her clothing, and I love everything she did. I love her!” “She’s my role model,” Brianna Akopyn said. “She’s my inspiration.” “It’s not only that she’s famous,” Alexa Kovacs added. “Obviously, we love her because of that, but she helps people, she does things for everything, that’s just awesome to me.” “Ever since ‘Barney,’ I used to watch her on [‘Barney & Friends’] and I’ve been with her since the beginning,” Akopyn revealed. “She’s such a great role model for everyone, including little girls. There’s not many actresses that can really inspire little girls in the right way, and she can.” Speaking to Gomez’s recent illness, Alexandra Pulido said no one could really tell that Selena had been under the weather. “I heard that she was sick over the radio back home where we live, she felt nauseated and stuff,” she said. “But she sang really well today, she didn’t show any of that.” We then asked fans to send Gomez their love via our video camera. “Hey Selena, I love you so much,” Pulido enthused. “I hope you’re doing better. Say ‘Hi’ to Justin [Bieber] for me.” “We love you so much,” Kovacs added. “Thanks for everything, keep it up.” “We hope you’re doing good,” continued Akopyn. “Keep up the good work, we love you.” “Congrats on Justin,” said Kovacs with a smile. “Yeah, he’s a lucky guy,” Akopyn added. Shaquille O’ Neal just retired from basketball after 19 seasons, but the famous center isn’t out the “game” yet. Shaq is allegedly involved in “a criminal case in which 7 gang members allegedly kidnapped, beat up and robbed a man who claimed to have a tape showing Shaq having sex with other women while he was married to Shaunie.” A member of the Main Street Mafia Crip gang tells TMZ.com that Shaq and a band of six entered a man’s home to search for the tape allegedly owned by Robert Ross. TMZ.com reports: Once there, Rowles allegedly pistol whipped Ross and demanded that he turn over the sex tape. Ross said he would get the tape and bring it back to them. The seven men then allegedly took Ross’ Rolex, diamond chain and earrings, along with $15,000 in cash — then let Ross go. The seven men have been arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping and other crimes. They are currently in the middle of a preliminary hearing and being held in jail. We’ve learned LAPD detectives interviewed Shaq to determine what, if any, involvement he had in the alleged crimes. When the case file went to the D.A. Shaq was not listed as a suspect. Now here’s the interesting backstory. Ross has a history with Shaq. Shaq and his business manager, Mark Stevens, have a record label and allegedly told Ross they would give him a 50% cut in any artists he brought to them. Ross claims he delivered Ray J to Shaq but got cut out of the deal. In his first commencement speech, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick claimed to be more nervous than before a football game. Despite his nerves, Vick got nothing but love from the hundreds gathered to hear his remarks to graduates of the alternative Camelot high schools at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. He also surprised two students with $5,000 college scholarships. Vick plans to give out the $5,000 awards annually. Camelot’s six campuses in Philadelphia serve about 1,800 students with emotional, disciplinary or academic problems. Vick gave his commencement speech to about 450 graduates. In speeches during Friday’s ceremony and in a private meeting with the former Falcons quarterback before the event, several graduates spoke of rebounding from previous troubles or poor choices to earn a diploma with the second chance they were given at Camelot.
