Stay With It: 10-Year-Old Is Too Caught Up In His Video Game And Falls Off The Train Platform

These kids and their damn video games…SMH A 10-year-old boy who was playing a video game on a Sony PlayStation Portable was so engrossed that he stepped off a subway platform and fell onto the tracks. The incident, which happened in Milan, Italy, was caught on video (shown here). An off-duty policeman jumped onto the tracks to rescue the boy. “I just reacted with instinct,” explained the rescuer, 23-year-old Alessandro Micalizzi, according to the Daily Mail UK. “I saw him go over and he was lying on the track so I just jumped down, grabbed him and carried him to the platform. He was crying and shocked but other than that he was OK.” Though there was no oncoming train, there was one due within a minute, so real peril was never too far off. “It was only afterwards when I heard the other passengers clapping and cheering that I stopped and thought about what I had done and my heart was in my throat,” said Micalizzi in the Daily Mail.

Flo Rida Cruises Into 2011 On ‘MTV New Year’s Bash’

Rapper rocks ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ and more hits during Times Square special. By Mawuse Ziegbe Flo Rida (file) Photo: Andrew H. Walker/Getty Images Flo Rida kicked off 2011 with not just a bang, but three of his biggest club bangers. The Southern MC took revelers on a hit-packed ride for “MTV New Year’s Bash” on Friday (December 31), kicking off his performance with the David Guetta-assisted smash “Club Can’t Handle Me.” Audience members went nuts when DJ Kronik dropped the booty-quivering thump of the club mainstay, and Flo, decked out in a gray pullover with a red Louis Vuitton scarf draped around his neck, crimson Nike kicks, red shades and a hefty Poe Boy chain, led the crowd with his supercharged energy. Hands shot in the air at Flo’s command, heralding the beefy rapper as he headed down the platform. But he didn’t confine the party to the stage, hopping in the crowd to fist-pump alongside fans and even let a couple partyers wail the chorus into his mic. Flo also hit the stage to rock his latest single, “Who Dat Girl.” Despite the frosty NYC weather outside, the Miami spitter kept the heat going indoors, ditching the sweater in favor of a white tank that showed off his trademark guns. Flo then switched to his 2009 dance-floor filler “Right Round” and pulled an amped fan in a snug animal-print dress onstage to groove alongside him. Both rocked out on the platform in the center of the audience, and Flo capped off his lucky fan’s moment in the spotlight by letting her wear his massive chain. MTV News caught up with Flo after getting the party started in Times Square, and the hitmaker dished about the secrets to making a surefire club jam. “To make a club hit, it’s gotta be like ear candy. I think the production has to stand out from all the songs that are out [and] have a great melody,” said Flo, whose tracks like “Right Round” and “Low” have shattered records. “People catch on to a melodic sound faster than anything, not just here in the States, just around the world.” He also added that in addition to the beat, a party-starting record has to have what he dubbed “club lyricism”: lyrics so catchy that anybody at a Flo show could “sing every word and you just hold the microphone out.” With a time-tested formula for crafting smashes already in his hitmaking arsenal, and new 2011 projects from touring to pushing his own new artists, Flo said his New Year’s resolution is all about spreading the wealth. “[I plan] to continue to give,” he said. “I feel like the more you give, the more you receive. It’s just a great feeling to give and not to borrow.” What did you think of Flo Rida’s performance at the “MTV New Year’s Eve Bash?” Let us know in the comments.

California Bombs on Plastic Bag Ban

Photo by Taberandrew Despite San Francisco leading the way on banning plastic bags back in 2007 , California senators rejected a proposed plan to ban plastic bags statewide. The measure to remove carryout plastic bags from supermarkets, drug stores and convenience shops would have taken effect by July 2012 in larger stores, and 2013 in smaller stores, and it would have made California the first state to institute a ban like this. Texas GOP: The New White Supremacist Party

The Texas republican party (ironically known as the Grand Old Party) has stooped to a new low, and I’m not talking about their removal of the slave trade from textbooks; it’s their new party platform. Now if you think erasing history is bad just wait until you hear what they want to do next. The Texas GOP’s 25 page platform of absurdity really pulls out all the stops, some of the details are so insane it almost seems like a script from the show Punked. The platforms section on Government power states that all executive orders are to be eliminated and all previous executive orders are to be repealed. The platform goes on to say, the Texas GOP opposes affirmative action and reparations based on “discriminatory criteria.” And the party is against nationalization of land for protecting endangered species or conservation. Just to clarify, they don’t want national parks or reservations for animals, they’d rather see a parking lot put up over saving a species. Now if the above does not seem all that bad to you, the platform goes on to include things that revert laws to the way things were run in the 1950′s south. Now unless you were born and raised in Texas, I’m sure you know what the Jim Crow laws are now the party’s platform is wanting to get some of those law’s passed again. The party supports the repeal of motor voter laws, re-registering voters every four years, and felon disenfranchisement. Another quick history lesson here, the U.S. constitution has a spot dedicated to the separation of church and state. Texas seems to think that it can just ignore the constitution and the Union of which it is a member. The Texas Republican party platform supports public displays of the ten commandments in government buildings and also enforcing penalties on people who “desecrate” the American flag, which falls under freedom of expression. To further target what the Republicans see as liberal or Democrat; they attack family values. It’s shocking to me that this party knows what family values are. According to the platform, the party seeks to ban homosexuality outright, and to it opposes the legalization of sodomy. Continuing down the path of the extreme the party wishes to make it a felony to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple, or for a civil official to perform a same-sex marriage ceremony. Sticking with their support for male only values the party lists its strong disagreement with abortion rights, as well as being strongly opposed to female reproductive rights. Now if you are wanting to adopt a foster kid to bring into your family, the Texas GOP has something for you, they want to repeal the restrictions on corporal discipline for foster children, now you can beat the kid you want to adopt whose life hasn’t been hard enough already. Of course Texas knows what is right for your children as well so they will outlaw sex education in favor of abstinence only education, see my Bristol Palin post to see how well that works. The recently passed health care plan, or ObamaCare as they call it, would also be out, along with your social security checks. So after doing 50 years of work or more and paying into Social Security you would get nothing for your hard labor. Now the GOP is not out of gas yet, they go on to say that any regulations on gun control are out, so your friendly neighborhood felon can get his hands on one too!!! Since they are putting guns in everyone’s hands including rapists, they now want to make rape a death penalty crime. While the deep water horizon oil well continues to leak 60,000 barrels a day into the Gulf, the Texas GOP is turning a blind eye. They want deep water oil drilling in the Gulf to resume immediately. Furthermore, they feel that employers should be allowed to discriminate on any basis, as well as repealing minimum wage. The Texas GOP demands that the U.S. removes itself from the United Nations, and it also calls for a repeal of birthright citizenship unless its to an American, screw the fence just outlaw Mexican Americans. Like I said at first I thought this was a joke, but once you see the platform, you know they are dead serious. They feel that this is Americas true belief system and that Texas sets the standard for all conservatives. Now Texas is run by a Republican, Joe Barton. While this would be laughed out of any other Republican state, in Texas it actually has a chance. It’s frightening that a mainstream party can publish this garbage and get away with mocking the President. I should mention that Texas is the only state allowed to secede from the Union, so if this should ever pass we have the option to force them out. Danielle Staub Teases Bisexuality, Exploits Gay Community

Danielle Staub is pathetic. Because her antics on The Real Housewives of New Jersey and in her disgusting sex tape haven’t elicited enough attention for this reality star, she’s now resorted to exploiting the gay community in order to make headlines. Following a duet with lesbian singer Lori Michaels this week, Danielle is teasing that she may be a bisexual. “I’m not ready to say that one way or the other,” she told Fox News. “Right now my focus is on my kids, but there is room for one more person in my world. Hopefully soon the world will see that.” Look, attention-starved loser: coming out of the closet is a big deal to people. It’s a life-altering event. You’re setting a sad example for those kids by using your sexuality as yet another platform for publicity. Making matters worse, Staub touts herself as an advocate for gay rights. “I haven’t even begun my work in the gay community yet,” she said. “I want to go to senate, I want to pass a bill and get gay marriage legalized. I go to events, I march in rallies. I’ve been a part of the gay community for 30 years.” We wonder how that community feels about a woman who exploits its agenda for personal gain. Either come out as a lesbian, or don’t, Danielle. You’re making a mockery of the cause you claim to care about.
