True Blood Sex and Violence Meter: When Vampires Can’t Afford Napkins

Usually with our True Blood recaps , we like to tabulate sex and violence using a point system, then crown a winner at the end of the show. This week, we’d better introduce a third feature: the Franklin meter.

Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand Offered My Mother’s Curse

A year after this idea was originally floated out into the ether, it seems that Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand have officially been offered roles in My Mother’s Curse . The Dan Fogelman-scripted film will be directed by The Proposal ‘s Anne Fletcher and casts Rogen and Streisand as mother and son on a road trip across the country. Last summer, Rogen called the film “one of the many projects [he] may or may not do in the next fifteen years,” so expect to see it sometime before 2024. [ The Playlist ]

Entourage Casting Bombshell: Seth Rogen Could Have Been Turtle

Just last summer, Seth Rogen found himself in a bizarre public feud with Entourage creator Doug Ellen after an episode of the HBO series in which characters called Rogen’s “ugliness… oddly fascinating” and debated whether a man of Rogen’s looks could actually score a beauty like Katherine Heigl in real life. Shortly after those remarks, Rogen responded by calling Ellin a “moron” and an “a**hole.” Months passed and the feud died down — until this week, when Ellin revisited the rivalry just in time for the show’s seventh season premiere.

Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges Keep Hope Alive

Great Hope Springs is not just another marriage-counseling drama. It’s a pedigreed, Oscar-baiting marriage-counseling drama that now counts Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges as front-runners for its two leads. They would play a middle-aged couple in the middle of a marathon matrimonial crisis during which they decide whether or not to stay together; Jessie Nelson is set to direct from a script by Vanessa Taylor. Roll out the Thank You Cam, someone’s going to need it . [ Production Weekly via The Playlist ]

Cabin in the Woods to Suffer 2nd Delay?

Will we ever get to see the Joss Whedon-produced, Drew Goddard-directed horror flick The Cabin in the Woods ? A while back, it was bumped all the way to January to undergo a 3D post-conversion, and now it may be lost in the MGM mess and delayed yet again. At this rate, star Chris Hemsworth will probably be seen in Thor before we ever get a taste of this tiny sleeper. Hell, Whedon may have directed him in The Avengers by then. [ THR via The Playlist ]

Is Spielberg’s New Lead Eddie Redmayne?

I guess having that locked-in release date of August 10, 2011 is just what Steven Spielberg needed to really commit to making War Horse his next film. The Playlist hears that he’s gone ahead and cast Verge alum Eddie Redmayne in the story of a farmer’s son who longs to be reunited with his favorite horse during the first World War. I’m guessing that Eddie isn’t the horse (though it certainly might make things a little more interesting). [ The Playlist ]

The World’s a Better Place When It’s Upside Down Playlist

Hey everyone, So, I know it’s been forever since I posted a playlist. And like always, this is what has been rolling around my iPod recently. I am OBSESSED with this band “Girl in a Coma” and the song “Their Cell” is one of the most melodically beautiful songs I have heard in a long time. The lead singer’s voice will captivate you like it has me! The title of this playlist is from Gabriella Cilmi’s “Sweet About Me” which I have been singing to my sister, Bridget, recently. I promise more posts and pictures coming soon! xoxox

Is J.J. Abrams Pretending to Make a Fake Movie as Cover for Super 8?

Are those super-hot 13-year-old girls who are readying their headshots for the Super 8 casting call actually auditioning for a different , J.J. Abrams-produced movie? According to The Playlist , the new issue of Production Weekly claims that the leaked casting information was for another project, but I’m guessing the industry trade has merely stumbled on Abrams’s plan to keep Super 8 secret, because the potentially fake front movie makes this casting call even more inappropriate.

Phillip Morris Kicked to Summer

The thrice-delayed Jim Carrey/Ewan McGregor romance I Love You Phillip Morris has received yet another new release date from its wobbly distributors at Consolidated Pictures Group: July 30 limited, and expanding Aug. 6. Considering this’ll all happen again three months, let’s just save our exasperated comments until then. And, er, good luck, CPG ! [ The Playlist ]

Is Something Borrowed The Next He’s Just Not That Into You?

Probably, yes. The adaptation of Emily Giffin’s romance novel has added yet another good looking face to its cast of good looking faces: Colin Farrell. Fresh off his uncredited appearance in Crazy Heart , Farrell will join Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Krasinski and Melrose Place “star” Colin Egglesfield in the tangled web of infidelities among friends. It’s like one of those CBS comedy pilots, but with cursing! [Production Weekly via The Playlist ]
