Congressman Danny Davis’ Teenage Grandson Murdered Over His Shoes In Chicago Greiving grandfather and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis lost his 15-year-old grandson, Jovan Wilson, over “gym shoes and clothes” during a home-invasion at his residence in Chicago last night according to ChicagoTribune . Another tragic instance of a young person losing their life in the embattled city. “He was a typical 15-year-old,” the congressman said. “He liked basketball. If you listened to him he was a basketball star, but he liked basketball and music. All those kinds of things. He was an avid sports fan, he knew all about, you know, the stats of different players.” Two teens, 15 and 17, boy and girl respectively, broke into Davis’ south side home where Jovan, his 3 siblings and an uncle were. Police say the teen assailants targets Jovan and wanted his sneakers (at the risk of being irresponsible, no one would be surprised if these were Jordans). After a brief argument, the 15-year-old boy pulled a pistol and shot Jovan in the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene. “Initially it was that he had been shot and then actually the police commander called me and indicated that, there during a home invasion, he had been shot and it didn’t look good,” Davis said. “Immediately I simply left and came out to the area where it had taken place,” Davis said. “It’s totally disconcerting.” In speaking on the gun violence in his city, Davis revealed a heartbreaking truth: “I guess that I always knew that the possibility existed that it could happen close to me,” Davis said. “As a matter of fact, I thought it was so unfortunate because Jovan had just reached a point, 15, his grades had improved at school. His father had just told me about how proud of him that he was because he was catching on and realizing that all of his life was in front of him.” R.I.P. Javon Wilson. It looks like Jeff Sessions will be our next U.S. Attorney General. The senator from Alabama has been nominated to this vital position by President-Elect Donald Trump, who has once again stirred up quite a bit of controversy before getting into the Oval Office. Sessions is a 69-year old staunch Conservative who often campaigned alongside Trump. He has been an outspoken supporter of the former Celebrity Apprentice star for months. But that is not the controversial part, unless you think scandal ought to follow around anyone who advocated Donald Trump for President. Sessions formerly worked as a prosecutor and was elected into the Senate in 1996. He currently serves on the Judiciary Committee and is best known for his strong opposition to immigration reform, along with his objection to bipartisan proposals to cut mandatory minimum prison sentences. He has supporter Trump’s proposal to build a wall along the Mexican border and he is all about deporting illegal aliens from America. According to The New York Times, Sessions was nominated in 1986 by the late president Ronald Reagan for a federal judgeship. However, this nomination was rejected due to a series of racially charged comments the politician had made in the past. At the time, Sessions’ nomination was only one of two to be rejected by the panel in almost five decades. What sort of divisive remarks has Sessions been accused of uttering? He had earlier branded civil rights organizations such as the NAACP and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference as “un-American” and “Communist-inspired.” He also once said that the Ku Klux Klan was fine by him, although he lost some respect for its members when he learned they smoked pot. (Sessions does not deny making this comment, but says it was made in jest.) Then there’s the case of Thomas H. Hughes. An African American prosecutor, he alleges that Sessions referred to him as “boy.” “Jeff has been a highly respected member of the U.S. Senate for 20 years,” Trump said in a statement. “He is a world-class legal mind and considered a truly great Attorney General and US Attorney in the state of Alabama. Jeff is greatly admired by legal scholars and virtually everyone who knows him.” Millions of people around the globe are growing more and more concerned by the kinds of people Trump is assigning to key White House positions. Sessions was one of President Barack Obama’s loudest opponents, voting against his nominees to the Supreme Court from his post on the Judiciary Committee and opposing Obama’s other major domestic initiatives. Demi Lovato Demi Lovato has been open about her struggle with bipolar disorder, cutting and bulimia. “I never found out until I went into treatment that I was bipolar,” she told People when she was 18. 2. Leonardo DiCaprio Leonardo DiCaprio suffers from OCD, which he drew upon while playing Howard Hughes in The Aviator. 3. Lena Dunham Lena Dunham suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression and anxiety, and even incorporated OCD into her character on Girls. She has taken medication for her conditions and told fans on Instagram that exercise helps immensely. 4. Robin Williams Funnyman Robin Williams suffered from depression, paranoia and anxiety and tragically took his own life in 2014. However, his widow Susan said her husband’s death was a result of Lewy Body Dementia, a form of neurodegenerative dementia that causes mood instability, hallucinations and impaired motor skills. 5. Justin Bieber Justin Bieber admitted to taking Adderall for ADHD, but recently quit because it gave him anxiety. Early in 2016, he canceled meet-and-greets with fans, saying they left him feeling “drained and unhappy” and “mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.” 6. Angelina Jolie The movie star admitted that she used to cut herself as a teen. “I went through a period that when I felt trapped I would cut myself. I have a lot of scars,” she told OK! magazine. Well, that escalated quickly. In the course of just a few weeks, we went from wondering whether Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins would get married on TV to wondering whether Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins were even together. That’s what happens when you call off your wedding on an episode of your reality show. On Tuesday night’s installment of the pair’s Freeform program, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? , we learned why there’s a question mark at the end of this title. During a counseling session for Higgins and Bushnell, the former broke down and confessed to his fiancee that he loves her and he wants to spend the rest of his life with her and everything, but… … he doesn’t want to marry her. Not yet at least. “You’re the woman of my dreams,” Higgins said as Bushnell cried. “The last thing I want to do is for us to rush that.” It’s almost as if Ben was only saying this because producers were looking to create drama between the couple in order to increase ratings.
