Usually, when we’re reporting on relations between members of the Teen Mom 2 cast, it’s because one of the many conflicts among the Moms has once again spiraled out of control. So it’s a nice change of pace to see fans focusing on the close friendship between Kailyn Lowry and Leah Messer. Truth be told, with the exceptions of Jenelle Evans and Briana DeJesus, the entire cast seems to get along. But the friendship between Leah and Kail is truly something special. These two don’t just get along at the show’s annual reunion tapings — they regularly travel in order to spend time together. Currently, they’re on vacation in Costa Rica, and from the looks of the pics they’ve been posting, they’re having one hell of a time: So why are their social media followers digging deep in order to locate some drama in this blissful situation? The main fabricated storyn here is the possibility that Kail and Leah are in a romantic relationship. We’ve detailed the most common arguments for this in the slideshow below. Spoiler alert: They mostly consist of some variation on “Kailyn is bisexual, and she and Leah enjoy spending time together, so yeah … lesbians.” But as lame and possibly offensive as that nonsense narrative is, it still beats the other most common response to Lowry and Messer’s vacay updates. Believe it or not, in 2019, fans and media outlets alike are engaging in serious conversations about who looks better in their swimwear, Leah or Kail. Yes, two friends both grown women with children and six-figure (or more careers) go on vacation together, and the public feels compelled to obsess over who’s in better shape. The situation is particularly appalling as it comes on the heels of Kail being brutally body-shamed by Jenelle’s husband, noted dog murderer David Eason . “I’m sorry but there is nothing stunning about being overweight,” David wrote alongside a photo of Kail on his Instagram account. “How about promoting a healthy lifestyle instead of making it seem okay to be unhealthy?” Kail was quick to respond, writing: “I can change my body. He can’t change who he is.” So let’s just all set aside the question of who looks better in a bikini and focus on the issues we can all agree on — like the fact that David Eason might be the biggest douche bag on the planet. The 37-year-old visited the show with her Intruder co-star Michael Ealy , and at one point in the conversation, Ealy’s son is brought up. This becomes a segue into talking about whether or not she and husband DeVon Franklin plan to have children. “Now Meagan, you just sitting here listening to this conversation about these kids and everything…” Harvey says in the clip, putting Good on the spot without formally asking the question. After laughing, Good decides to answer. “I’ma say this, and it’s funny because I usually don’t talk about it because I was one of those people who knew I would be a mother later in life,” she said. “And we talk about it a lot. Like, [Michael Ealy] basically tried to convince me to start like last year. But now I think I’m in a place now where I’m actually ready.” As the crowd applauds, she and Harvey have a moment, somewhat emotional and centered in faith, where he tells her that she would be a great parent. “Do you have any idea how fabulous of a mother you would be?” he asks. “I receive that,” she says in response. “Thank you.” Sign Up For Our Newsletter! This isn’t the first time that Good has been put on the spot, publicly, about her plans for motherhood. Early last year the topic was brought up by Loni Love on The Real . “You know, I’m a take my time,” Good said when Love told her she and Franklin would have some “pretty” kids. “I had two monkeys a few years ago, and now I have two hairless cats so I’m kind of like a never-neverland person. So I’m going to wait.” “In the right time,” she added. “I’m going to take my time, but in the right time we’ll have them. We definitely want them though.” SEE ALSO: Trailer: Dennis Quaid Is Meagan Good and Michael Ealy’s Worst Nightmare In ‘The Intruder’ [VIDEO] I’ve already spoken in the past about how I don’t like that people ask married folks, whether privately or publicly, when they’re going to have children. You never know what people are going through behind the scenes. Also, they can’t often just decide they’re ready to be parents and it automatically happens. Some things are out of our overall control. However, if she and her husband are thinking about starting to make an effort to expand their family, I wish them the best of luck. Source: Aaron Rapoport / Getty T he timing of life’s peaks and valleys are unique depending on the individual in Black America, but the experiences themselves are synonymous. We all deal with the task of navigating through terrain specifically designed for us, yet not designed in our favor. The socioeconomic makeup of the cities we come from teaches us to be communal and operate in self-interest at the same time. The dynamic of our relationships includes a protective instinct as we care for each other in nuanced ways while playing tug of war over a certain type of respect from our significant others. We treat our close friends like siblings while keeping each other at a metaphorical arm’s length for fear of exposing our weaknesses, thereby giving too much power to anyone. Stepping into our individuality is a fight in and of itself as we reluctantly turn away from the mindsets and habits molded by our predecessors, in favor of new ideologies that fit our perspectives of the world we eventually encounter on our own accord. There’s a powerful duality that we inherit with our brown skin, and John Singleton was a master of explaining it through is directorial lens. The Duality of Black Men At 24, John Singleton put Hollywood on notice and South Central LA on display with Boyz n the Hood —a masterpiece that showcased the spectrum of young Black men versus the generalization of us, pumped through the propaganda machine known as American news. In the film, a gifted young boy named Tre hits the time limit on the safety of his mother’s nurturing embrace, and is transitioned into lessons on manhood through the guidance of his father. It’s a distinct adventure each Black man has to face. Those of us who were unfortunately raised without fathers received our lessons in manhood from the uncles, cousins, coaches, and various other “father figures” within arms reach. Regardless of the teacher, the lesson remains the same. The world doesn’t love you like your mother does, and it never will. When you jump off the porch and into society, you’re public enemy number one, and you’d better learn to be productive despite the burden. You’d better grasp that being a Black man is a job and it’s on you to find a way to carry its responsibilities, even if you get so frustrated that you end up punching the air. For every Tre there’s a Doughboy, a kind heart hardened by his surroundings. The good in him occupies an equal amount of bad. The good is what he wishes consumed him, and the bad is what he depends on for survival. How can you judge him for being balanced? Is it because he doesn’t look inviting? Is it because his charm comes with a hint of mystery? You can’t quite tell what he’ll do if you bring him the wrong energy, can you? Good, we make you feel like you should be on your toes around us because we live like that everyday. Those are instincts we need so we don’t end up like Ricky: robbed of our potential because we got caught slipping. The robbery of our potential doesn’t always end in gunfire. Sometimes it ends in losing that scholarship, or that promotion we had a shot at. If we’re not on point at all times, we’ll end up taking two steps back from the forward step we just took. Worst case scenario, we end up dead, never taking a forward step again. Exchange of Power As Love Language Just two years after releasing Boyz n the Hood , John Singleton gave us Poetic Justice , this time painting a picture of the complex relationship between young Black men and women. The film’s main character Justice lost her boyfriend unexpectedly to violence, leaving her skeptical of opening up again. Lucky, her love interest played by the late Tupac Shakur, had good morals, but didn’t understand how to engage a woman that required more than sweet talking and humorous wit. I can’t speak for women, but as a man I know what it’s like to give love and decide I didn’t want to anymore. Most men are guilty of that. Until a certain age, we don’t think much about how deeply some of our gestures resonate, and how traumatic it must be to impact someone emotionally, to just move on without thinking twice. I’m not sure if we do that because we’re afraid of being vulnerable, or because we’re as emotionally unintelligent as people say. Maybe it’s both, but either way, we’re a bit entitled with how we handle love. As we grow older, we encounter women who have developed a force field around their hearts, weary of repeating the same let downs that come from our fear of vulnerability. That’s where we butt heads. As men, we may have good intentions with the women we forge relationships with, but good intentions aren’t enough. It’s about consistent action, and creating a safe space for a woman to let her guard down. “I’m a Black woman, and I deserve respect.” – Justice, Poetic Justice Lucky and Justice challenged each other in that sense. On one hand, it’s perfectly natural to be protective of your feelings. It’s equally as natural to expect to be taken as you are, even if there’s potential to be better. Black men and women are everything to each other, even when we’re too stubborn to see it. We go through exchanges of power, until deciding to meet in the middle and understand the reasoning behind each other’s flaws. We saw the experience played out just as much in Baby Boy . The story of Jody, a 20-something Black man struggling to take ownership of his transition out of boyhood. He has two children by two different women, one of which he loves, and both of which he expects access to when he feels like it. Yvette, the woman who has his heart, displays the type of patience he doesn’t deserve. She provides for herself, maintains a roof over their son’s head, and still welcomes him with open arms although his presence is inconsistent. He’s quick to name the small things he does for her: buying groceries here and there, installing cable, and putting rims on her car—small gestures that to him say “I’m making sure you’re comfortable”, but they pale in comparison to what Yvette really wants. She wants to know they’re a family, that she can depend on him. Her frustration manifests in locking him out of the apartment. He hits back by refusing to fix her car. Small incidents, both of which are attempts to gain some sort of leverage. In the end they come together the minute Jody realizes that he can’t fight his woman until she bends to his will. He’s got to give as much as he’s hoping to receive, maybe even a little more. That’s the essence of being a provider. “If I’m insecure it’s because you made me this way, all you do is think about yourself.” – Yvette, Baby Boy The Black woman demands that we realize the power in our potential. She knows that her love for us doesn’t require her to settle for half of us. She welcomes being led, as long as we’ve actually got a direction in mind. The irony in that is it takes time to find direction, and maybe we’d like her to know that not having direction yet doesn’t mean we’re not in search of it. Optimism Versus Realism In Higher Learning , Remy and Malik show the juxtaposition of the mindstate most young Black men deal with at educational institutions. Malik is there on scholarship, while Remy is a senior on his way out. Remy is militant, and almost exhausted at the racism he sees daily. Malik is hopeful, a wide-eyed freshman aware that the institution he’s operating within has its own cultural barriers he’s got to work around. In a back and forth with his Black professor, Malik seems to expect a break because they share the same skin color. That is a distinct experience we have as Black people, so artfully showcased by Singleton through character dialogue. At times, we mistake support for a free pass. Racism is a great hindrance to our progress in this country, it’s an indisputable fact. Be that as it may, we still get in our own way at times by believing that when we see each other in spaces where there are few of us, that we shouldn’t hold each other to high standards. We sell each other short looking for the hook-up when it’s more productive to help each other earn what’s for the taking. “ I will continue to give you a difficult time, until you have proven that you deserve otherwise. Those are the rules of the game. Young man you have to rid yourself of the attitude that the world owes you something. You must strip yourself of that attitude, it breeds laziness.” Professor Phipps, Higher Learning Meanwhile, Remy appears almost jaded at having a higher education, because the struggle doesn’t change. What good is a degree, certificate, or any other credential if at the end of the day, it’s our skin that determines how our trajectory? He’s not entirely wrong to carry these thoughts, but it’s dangerous to accept that reality. If we keep a bleak outlook on our potential then we’ll never move forward. We must embrace hope just as we embrace the survival mentality. Both are necessary, but neither is beneficial in excess. There are countless other movies and an iconic music video I can choose from and dissect, but the message is clear: John Singleton knew the value in helping us see ourselves, never shying from the stereotypes others may have run from. Instead, he revealed the beauty in our madness, and the genius in our ignorance. Black people aren’t perfect, nor do we come perfectly packaged. It’s our various dimensions that make us a galaxy worth learning and understanding, for the benefit of our own higher learning.
As you’ve likely heard by now, the royal family has spent the last three weeks reeling over reports that Prince William had an affair with Rose Hanbury while Kate Middleton was pregnant. Rose is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and a former close friend of Kate’s. These days, the two are on the outs for obvious reasons. Rumors of William cheating on Kate have circulated countless times in the past, and the couple has always weathered the storm with their grace and dignity intact. Of course, on those occasions, there weren’t quite as many signs pointing to William’s guilt. In an unusual move, William went to great lengths to bury the story , even having his lawyers send off threatening letters to UK publications that continued reporting on it. Unfortunately for Will, the British tabloid press has become quite adept at reporting on scandalous royal gossip while at the same time side-stepping libel laws. One common tactic is to report on the latest gossip by denying it — a savvy strategy that can be used to simultaneously fill the public in on the latest ramblings while covering one’s arse both legally and politically. (For some UK outlets, maintaining close ties to the royals is essential for survival.) That strategy is explained and deftly utilized in this in-depth Royal Foibles article which addresses the theory that Rose was the one to leak news of her affair with William to the press. The Foibles author points out that the “Rose as smoking gun” theory originated with one small American website called The Cheat Sheet. But then that same author states that “this little website is well informed.” Hey, bigger stories have been broken by smaller outlets. Of course, the situation begs the question of why Rose would blow herself in like that, especially since she’s also married. There are many possible answers, and the most common theory seems to be that she became uopset after Will broke things off. But in assessing the situation, it’s important ro remember how this story began. At first, it was reported as an feud between Kate and Rose . Kate reportedly committed herself to having Rose thrown out of her Norfolk, England social circle, and it was all a big mess. So could it be that Rose went to the press because she was pissed at Kate? Tough to say, but it’s certainly more interesting than the lame “she’s mad she got dumped by William angle.” View Slideshow: Prince William: Was He REALLY Caught Cheating on Kate Middleton? Last summer, after Tristan Thompson’s other cheating scandal, Khloe Kardashian worked overtime to try to help him rehabilitate his public image. We all know how that worked out. Once again, Tristan worries that his reputation is ruined . This time, it’s his other baby mama helping out, and commenters are falling over themselves to compliment Tristan’s new photos with his son. Adorable baby True Thompson turned one year old on April 12. But she’s not the only child Tristan has fathered. Her older half-brother, Prince, is two years old. Prince’s mother is Jordan Craig, who was already pregnant when Tristan hooked up with Khloe. Tristan recently went with Prince to a friend’s birthday party where he took some precious father-son photos. He shared the pics on Instagram with the caption: “We had the best time at Cali’s Birthday party!!” An inside source recently spoke to Us Weekly about the current dynamic between Jordan and Tristan. “It’s not romantic,” the insider emphasizes. The source continues: “but Jordan has always been extremely supportive of Tristan.” “Tristan is a very involved father in Prince’s life,” the insider claims. “But,” even this very pro-Tristan source admits. “During the basketball season, it’s challenging.” Fans saw these sweet pics and piled on the praise. “He is his daddy twinning for real!” praised one comment. “That’s Prince Charming Tristan Thompson adorable son,” the fan continued. “Jordy you’re a beautiful stunning sexy swagger young lady,” the commenter added. “You doing a great job!” “Keep it up,” the comment encouraged. “God Almighty will guide and your more blessings upon you. I’m one of your big fan. I love you so natural beauty!” Others saw some critical comments directed at Jordan and hit back. “To all the Kardashian’s fan get you’ll ashian ash off her page,” the defender wrote. “And take you guys loyalty & opinions on their page,” the comment added. The fan insisted that Kardashian fans “stay off her page with the assumptions & rumors & accept that FACT that KARMA is real.” “She has done nothing but moved on gracefully & maturely,” the comment correctly points out. “Take notes; no one had to tell her to #FreeTristan she left him,” the fan concluded. “She didn’t bash him or Khloe before or after.” Then, the comment asked: “Wo why are Khloe fans on here bashing her?” “Prince has big beautiful eyes,” gushed another fan. “Do you take prince or does Khole bring True to you and prince, so they get to grow up as sister and brother,” asked the comment. “As its important to put the anger and hurt away,” the fan suggested. “And think of the kids first.” “I can see you doing this fine as you have so much more class than Khole as she thinks she’s better than anyone in the world,” the defender wrote. “Which she’s not the queen that her fans call her,” the comment continued. “She thinks she’s the only person who had there baby daddy leave,” the fan exclaimed. The comments praising Prince are great! The comments praising Jordan are also correct. The fans who choose to praise Tristan Thompson are … making a choice , huh? Khloe fans don’t need to go on anyone’s page to bash Jordan Craig, who did nothing wrong. And while many believe that Khloe “took” Tristan from Jordan, nobody needs to bash her for being sad that her cheating baby daddy cheated. Sometimes, Khloe messes up. You can talk about that all that you like. No need to roast her just for having feelings. View Slideshow: Khloe Kardashian Attacks Jordyn Woods, Gets DRAGGED on Twitter
Well, one of the biggest weekends on the 2019 pop cultural calendar is officially behind us, and all over America, fanboys and haters alike are hashing out their differences. Both Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones ‘ Battle of Winterfell saw the deaths of some beloved characters, but GoT being GoT, it’s not surprising that some viewers expected even more carnage. Obviously, the remainder of this article is dark and full of spoilers (We miss you already, Melisandre.), so proceed no further if you have yet to watch Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 . (Which was surprisingly not titled “The Battle of Winterfell,” but is instead officially known as “The Long Night.”) The stakes and the expectations for the episode could not have been much higher. It was the most expensive Game of Thrones to date with a whopping 85-minute runtime. Marketing materials promised the longest continuous battle sequence in film or television history. From a narrative standpoint, the episode would conclude the Night King/White Walker storyline that was set into motion in the show’s very first scene. Fans hoped the installment would also deliver some big-time emotional payoff and set the stage for the series’ final three episodes. On some of those promises, the show inarguably delivered (that was certainly one very lengthy battle), but others … maybe not so much. On Twitter, complaints were plentiful — granted, that’s always the case with Twitter, but the response to “The Long Night” seemed even more mixed than usual. One of the primary beefs was the fact that the episode very much lived up to its name. It was long, and it was very, very dark. Literally. Many viewers complained that they had difficulty following the action due to the low lighting. Others complained of jump cuts and the visual anonymity of the combatants. Yes, it made sense that the dueling armies were all attired so similarly, but combined with shadowy motif, this often made it difficult to tell who was swinging the sword and who was being cut down. Speaking of violent death, some fans felt there just wasn’t enough of it. Or more accurately, they felt more top-tier characters should have met their demise. Sure we lost Jorah Mormont, Theon Greyjoy, Lyanna Mormont, Melisandre, and the Night King, but this is a show that’s never been shy about offing major players, and with just three episodes remaining, fans understandably expected the Battle of Winterfell to reduce them to sobbing shells of their former selves. That might sound like an unpleasant experience, but it’s part of what’s kept us coming back to Westeros for the past eight years, and for many viewers, “The Long Night” lacked the emotional gut punch they had been simultaneously dreading and hoping for. But the most serious concerns might have to do with the direction of the series from here. As thrilling as it was to see Arya reduce the Night King and his army to a pile of shards, it was an ending that raised more questions than it answered. Presumably, the remaining episodes will focus on the battle for the Iron Throne, but as a villain, is Cersei any match for an undead king with an army of zombies? Is there any way to rescue the remaining episodes from feeling an anti-climactic afterthought? Game of Thrones has always been a series that trafficked in surprises, but the biggest surprise of all might be showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss pulling off a conclusion that will leave the majority of the show’s viewership feeling satisfied. Of course, with the emotional sadism these two have demonstrated over the years, that may not be the ultimate goal. View Slideshow: Game of Thrones Photos: Bring It On, White Walkers!

90 Day Fiance is one of those shows that sounds like it could be full of amazing love stories or just a total trainwreck. Amazingly, the show manages to be both — which is why people can't stop watching. Sometimes, you see couples like Kirlyam and Alan Cox, who met despite being from different continents but found love and happiness, got married, and are growing their families. Then you have more … infamous couples. Couples like Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali, who seemed to be trying to out-scam each other but even those schemes devolved into mutual loathing. A lot of the couples fall into the middle somewhere. Some are a little weird, some seem like soulmates. Any marriage can go right or wrong, and becoming reality stars during your engagement adds an extra special twist to that. Honestly, you might be shocked at how many of these couples are still together. And which ones aren't . 1. Fernanda Flores and Jonathan Rivera Fernanda and Jonathan met while Jon was clubbing on vacation. He ended up extending that vacation. Despite an age gap, some homesickness, and a lot of doubts, the two tied the knot. Unfortunately, the couple split around New Year’s Eve after getting into an argument, and Jonathan says that Fernanda said some things to him that he is unwilling to forgive. 2. Colt Johnson and Larissa Dos Santos Lima Colt is from Las Vegas and Larissa is from Brazil. Over the course of their seven-month marriage, Larissa was arrested three times for domestic battery, though her friend Carmen says that she has seen evidence that Larissa was the victim. It all came to an end after their final, bloody fight on January 10, 2019. Colt and Larissa are now divorced. 3. Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez Molly and Luis broke up after a lot of arguments, an attempted reconciliation, and even the implication that Molly was abusive. Luis remarried to a mystery woman just four months after his divorce was finalized. Molly and Luis both claim that the other was using them. 4. Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava ran into trouble when Anfisa learned that Jorge was in debt and less able to spoil her. Despite arguments and even a breakup, they decided to stay married. Jorge is currently serving a 2-year sentence behind bars, but so far, Anfisa has resolved to remain his wife — and to channel her loneliness into body-building. 5. Kirlyam and Alan Cox Kirlyam’s family couldn’t even make it to the wedding and had to watch a livestream, but she and Alan Cox are adorably in love and enjoy nerding out together. Their first child, a boy named Liam, was born on October 6th, 2017! 6. Paola and Russ Mayfield This couple’s biggest problem? Paola is a model, and Russ is super uncomfortable. Also, Russ is from Oklahoma, which is not quite the modeling capitol of the world. Despite some serious disagreements, Russ and Paola are still married. On January 1, 2019, they welcomed their first child, Axel. Awww! View Slideshow
