Adrian Peterson Arrested, Charged With Resisting Arrest in Club Altercation

NFL star Adrian Peterson shoved an off-duty police officer in a Houston bar early Saturday morning, leading to his arrest , the Houston P.D. says. An off-duty officer was working security for the nightclub Live! at Bayou Place when closing time came and he told patrons it was time to leave. The officer had to tell Peterson a second time he had to leave and the Vikings running back shot back, “Hey man, we heard you the first time!” He then pushed the officer in the back of his shoulder, causing him to stumble. The officer then told Peterson to turn around and put his arms behind his back because he was under arrest and Peterson began yelling at him. The officer repeated himself and Peterson turned around to face the officer and got in “an aggressive stance,” ignoring more verbal warnings. A second and third officer then rushed over, according to the police, and they were finally able to arrest the all-star athlete and take him to jail. He was booked on the charge of resisting arrest. Adrian Peterson was heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest, which was very out of character for him, according to the nightclub owner. Peterson has been to the club before, but he has never known him to drink much. He was reportedly a difficult customer all night Friday, though. [Photo: Fame/Flynet]

Karl Laventure, "Zombie Cannibal" High on Bath Salts, Threatens to Eat Cops

Karl Laventure, a man believed to be high on bath salts, attacked police officers and took 20 jolts from a Taser as he threatened to eat them yesterday. Frightened golfers at a driving range in Alpharetta, Ga., called police when Laventure went on a rampage, running around half-naked waving a golf club. Video footage shows the crazed man, 21, being held down by several officers and screaming incoherently about God, Biggie, Tupac, etc. “I’ll eat you! Don’t make me eat you!” he threatened. Karl Laventure (Zombie Cannibal) Attack The case is eerily similar to that of Rudy Eugene, who ate the face off a homeless man in Miami, Fla., and sparked rumors of a zombie apocalypse . Eugene, also believed to be on bath salts while attacking Ronald Poppo , who miraculously survived, was surprisingly not on anything but pot . In any case, he was shot to death by Miami police. In yesterday’s incident, Laventure “just came running at us,” Officer Ross Hancock of the Gwinnett County (Ga.) Police Department told WSBTV. When his partner blasted him with painful pepper spray, “He didn’t even wipe his eyes, he just kept them open.” The cops then tasered him. Although that took Laventure down, he hopped right back up again. “We had to Tase him approximately five more times,” said Hancock. “It took several officers to hold him down to get him cuffed … He was still talking gibberish, still cussing, still saying he wanted to eat us, eat other people.” He reportedly told the officers “Im’ma eat you!” repeatedly. The man was restrained long enough to get him to the hospital, but there the insanity started again and he had to be tasered another 14 times . He was charged with misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct and obstruction. The DEA is attempting to control the wave of dangerous synthetic drugs that go by bath salts , K2, Spice, Ivory Wave, Vanilla Sky, Bliss, and Purple Rain. “The chemicals that have been made illegal and designated Schedule 1 controlled substances are mephedron, methylone and MDPV – but they are the ingredients, not the products themselves,” DEA spokesperson Barbara Carreno said. “The challenge with synthetic drugs is that any good chemist can tweak their molecular structure and formula and you have a new product, which isn’t illegal,” she explained. “It is hard for the law to keep up with them.”

Blond And Very Busty Bandit Robs Gas Station Rocking Beanie Brandishing Knife! [Video]

Blond And Very Busty Bandit Robs Gas Station Rocking Beanie Brandishing Knife! Crazy Aussie: She’s the suspect every red-blooded Australian policeman will be hot on the heels of. A buxom bandit is on the run after holding up a petrol station on Queensland’s Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning. However, it’s likely that she won’t evade capture for long. The curvaceous blonde, who is believed to be in her 20s, made a series of schoolgirl blunders. Perhaps believing her ample assets would divert attention, her biggest mistake – which even the most amateur hold-up artist might have thought of – was failing to hide her face. She did remember to wear a glove to stop her hands from leaving fingerprint traces on anything she touched – but she put it on the wrong hand. The gloved hand clutched a knife, which she then took away with her after the robbery. Her tan was also a giveaway – if police eventually arrest her a study of her breasts (presumably by a policewoman) would help them in their line of inquiry, so to speak. She made no attempt to hide her hair style, either. Unless she decides to cut off those long locks they will help police compare a suspect with the woman captured on the security cameras at the Arundel filling station. No one was hurt in the robbery. But while the mistakes of the bungling bandit might cause some amusement, police weren’t smiling today. ‘There were a number of serious threats to harm the attendant and she fled with a small amount of money,’ a spokesman for Queensland police told Channel Nine news. Police said the store employee fought back by throwing items from the shelves at the woman as she fled outside, where a man was waiting for her in a four wheel drive car. It sped off into the night, but the woman left behind so many clues to her identity that police are hoping for an early arrest.

‘Hunger Games’ Star Jennifer Lawrence: Real-Life Hero

Actress rushes to help a young woman lying in her lawn Monday. By Audrey Cook Jennifer Lawrence Assisting A Fainting Woman Outside Her L.A. Apartment Complex Photo: Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t just rush to action on the big screen. The “Hunger Games” starlet was walking her dog outside her L.A. apartment complex Monday when she stumbled upon a young woman lying on her back on the lawn. According to X17 , Lawrence raced over to help the young woman while someone nearby called the paramedics. A photographer on the scene told the photo agency, “Jennifer ran outside her apartment when she heard a girl scream and immediately called 911. When the EMT arrived, she stayed to make sure everything was OK. She was really scared for the girl.” The Santa Monica Police Department told TMZ , “The young lady who collapsed was a juvenile and was part of a group that was together,” adding that “alcohol may have played a role in the incident.” Lawrence, sporting a casual look in gray sweatpants and a black tank top, got on the ground to assist the woman and stayed by her side until paramedics arrived. It’s unclear why the woman was in front of Lawrence’s property, but paramedics treated the unidentified woman on the scene, and she was then cleared to leave. Lawrence isn’t the only celebrity who has played superhero recently: Patrick Dempsey came to the rescue a little less than two months ago, saving a teenager who crashed his car outside the “Grey’s Anatomy” star’s house. Lawrence is gearing up to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the “Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire,” slated to hit theaters in November 2013. Would you rush outside to help an injured stranger if you found them on your property? Share your thoughts!

Interview: Kirby Dick Unleashes an Incredible Invisible War

The Invisible War by director Kirby Dick and producer Amy Ziering is simply shocking. In this doc, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival in January and screened at the recent Provincetown International Film Festival (where it also picked up an audience prize) the filmmaking duo expose a long-brewing scandal in the U.S. military. Sexual assault against both women and men has run rampant throughout the various branches of the military and even up the chain of command. It is, in fact, the chain of command that has, in part, allowed rape and other sexual assault to remain virtually hidden despite its ubiquity. The Invisible War blows the cover off this decades-old (or older) crisis with an emotional and devastating look at the victims of sexual assault and how it can be fixed. Though the film will be released theatrically this weekend, it has already had a major impact. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta screened the film and soon afterward announced some reforms. Though, as Kirby Dick warns in his interview with ML from the recent Provincetown festival, the moves are not enough and the U.S. military still needs to take some cues from its allies in alleviating this scourge. It may be tough to watch, but the film is riveting and the stories of individuals he and Zeiring interview are phenomenal. Dick has screened the film for various groups since Sundance and its subsequent East Coast premiere at Provincetown and, as he explains in his conversation with ML below, audiences have been riveted by what has been uncovered. What led you and your producer Amy Ziering to this topic and ultimately doing a film? Amy and I read an article in by Helen Benedict in Salon and we were astounded by the numbers of people sexually assaulted, and we were equally astounded that nobody had made a feature documentary on this. From a filmmaker point-of-view, that is sort of lucky when that happens. We pretty much decided right then and there that we’d make this film. I remember hearing about the Tailhook scandal in the ’90s when a number of women were assaulted at a U.S. Navy/Marines event in Las Vegas. And despite that, I still thought this was a horrifying yet isolated outrageous incident. I didn’t think it was so pervasive… Yeah, I remember following that situation and the Air Force Academy [situation] and I wondered when I was making this film why I hadn’t done this 15 years ago. It seems so isolated, but then it’s over – but no, it’s systemic. And the military has been very good at conveying that these are isolated. They’ll deny it or then blame the victim or they’ll say it’s been dealt with and it’s in the past. This has been covered up for generations. I would imagine, and I don’t have statistical evidence in this, but I would bet it’s a part of militaries forever and a problem in foreign militaries that have women or even ones that only have men. And that’s one thing we hope that this film will do as it plays around the world, which is to raise the same discussion in those countries as well. Are these people not able to call the police as civilians do or hopefully do? If they’re in the military it’s almost always referred to military authorities. If it happens on base then it automatically is referred to military authorities and if it happens off-base, then yes it is possible to call civilian authorities, but they very often will refer it back to the military. This must’ve been a heart-wrenching experience for both of you filming this doc. My mouth was dropping hearing these stories and I couldn’t help but talk back to the screen. Yeah, it was. Each one of these interviews were equally stunning. Amy did each interview and she did a phenomenal job and she’d be emotionally drained and devastated and be incredibly angry afterward. It was a good combination [for the creation of the film] and I knew we’d get it. The assaults of course were horrifying in and of themselves, but then to see how the institution reacts to these assaults is absolutely incredible. That’s one of the things we hope this film will inspire. Not only the outrage but this sense of responsibility which you’re alluding to that we all have in this country. There’s a sense that there are military families and non-military families and sometimes people without family members in the military think that they’ll simply take care of themselves. We all have responsibility for people in the military. We’re all a part of one society whether we agree with what the military is doing or not. And I’ve seen this happening. One of the things I foresaw was bring together veterans groups and women’s groups. In fact, we’ve set up a coalition to extend the impact of the film together with civil rights groups and sexual assault groups. And what we want to see happen is a push for reform after the film has gone. Did you reach out to any of the people who were accused? We decided not to do that. But what we did try to do is reach out to someone who was convicted. We tried to do that through many defense attorneys. We were interested in getting his perspective. It would be a courageous act for someone to come forward and talk about this, but ultimately we weren’t able to get anyone. Traditionalists may hold all of this up as evidence that women shouldn’t serve in the military or that they shouldn’t serve alongside men in the military and I was curious what your response is to that? Well I think first of all, that’s holding the men in our military with great disrespect. I believe the men in the military are more than capable of taking care of and not assaulting the people who they serve with side by side. And in the second place, these women make amazing soldiers. The women in our film are the people you would want in the military. They are so good at what they do and so idealistic. They’re model soldiers and that’s one of the tragedies. There was this problem with these gay translators being dismissed from the military and that was also a significant loss to the military. How did you get Leon Panetta to see this? Well, it was part of a long campaign immediately after Sundance. This movie was made to change policy. We got this into the hands of high ranking retired officers. We had dozens of screenings for officers’ wives, non profits, other military organizations and corporate leaders to get the discussion going and not only get the military aware of it, but also to get them to react to it. Eventually, it got to the Defense Secretary who saw the film and two days later held a press conference to announce significant policy changes. We later learned from our executive producer Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom – and all three know each other – that Jennifer saw Leon Panetta at the White House Correspondence dinner and Panetta told her he was really moved by the film and decided to hold the press conference in part because of the film. So the campaign was successful to that degree. But there’s a lot more to do. The changes he announced do not fully take investigation outside the chain of command. It still remains within the chain of command and until that happens, there’s still opportunity for great miscarriages of justice. It should be taken out and there should be no opportunity for a conflict of interest. Take it out like it’s done in every other justice system. There are running sexual themes in many of your films including Twist of Faith and Outrage . Is it fair to say you’re drawn to topics related to sexual taboo – or maybe not “taboo” exactly but you get what I’m saying… Maybe not so much taboo, but yes I think there is. On the one hand sexuality is made for the cinema – any sexuality. But I’m also interested in almost all my films about sexuality and its relationship to trauma. Some more than others, but in some ways trauma is playing some sort of role to sexuality. Certainly as a documentary filmmaker I approach this topic similar to a novelist. The sexuality and the traumatic history of a subject makes for great material to work with. I think it’s something I work with – not always – but do work with [consistently].” Has the audience reaction here in Provincetown and at Sundance been what you have expected? Oh yeah, even more so. I also do these small screenings in various places [between the festivals] and people just wouldn’t get up afterward and I’ve never had that. I saw that they were really affected by this. It’s the experience we had when we were doing these interviews. You’re like, ‘this can’t be true.’ But at the same time you just want to reach out to them. Follow Brian Brooks on Twitter . Elsewhere In The World: Man Chops Off Daugther’s Head And Takes It To Police Station

Father Beheads Daughter For “Indecent Behavior” Ridiculous. Via CNN Police in the northern India state of Rajasthan say they were stunned when a man showed up at a police outpost holding a bloody human head in one hand and a sword in another. The head was that of the man’s daughter, chopped off because of her “indecent behavior,” Umesh Ojha, deputy superintendent of the district police, told CNN. Investigators say the man, Oghad Singh, had paraded the head through the village on his way to the police station. Singh’s daughter, Manju Kunwar, was in her 20s and was living with her parents after divorcing her husband two years ago. Her father accused her of acting indecently with other men. Authorities say Kunwar’s mother is a farmer who was working in the fields at the time and was too distraught to talk. Singh works in a marble quarry. The beheading happened on Tuesday in Dengar Ka Guda, a village in Rajsamand District about 400 kilometers, or 250 miles, from Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. Kunwar’s head and the rest of her body were cremated according to Hindu tradition, police said. Wow.

Apparently that’s the case so far when it comes to the whole bottle hurling brawl at NYC nightclub W.i.P . As one source put it, “We’re no running-to-the-police ass n**gas.” Chris Brown and his lawyers have been cooperating with police. As for Drake, law enforcement sources tell us the NYPD has spoken with his reps but they won’t be able to speak with the rapper until his lawyer comes to NYC. No Drake Arrest Planned For Tonight, NYPD Confirm

But authorities are reportedly calling for extra security at the NY show following Drizzy’s nightclub brawl with Chris Brown. By Rob Markman Drake Photo: Despite numerous reports to the contrary, the NYPD confirmed to MTV News there are no plans to arrest Drake before his show in Long Island, New York, tonight and the investigation into the YMCMB star’s nightclub brawl with Chris Brown is still ongoing. But that doesn’t mean authorities are taking things lightly before tonight’s concert: TMZ is reporting that New York State Police are calling for extra security at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theatre following the Thursday morning scuffle between Brown’s and Drizzy’s entourages in a New York City club. Reps for Drake have maintained that the Toronto MC did nothing wrong . On Friday night, Cash Money CEO Birdman weighed in on the incident. “To me, Drizzy ain’t did nothin’ wrong, he ain’t done nothin’ wrong to nobody. He’s just doin’ great music,” he told MTV News exclusively. “He’s not a reckless guy out there just wildin’ out; he’s a humble kid makin’ great music.” There has been a ton of finger-pointing following the brawl, which reportedly involved members of both Drake’s and Breezy’s respective crews. Brown’s lawyer Mark Geragos has been very vocal in implicating Drake as the main culprit in the incident. “I have turned over evidence that it was Drake who instigated this,” he told the New York Post. “The evidence makes it clear that Chris is the victim of all this. “I believe the police are building a case against Drake and his thugs,” he continued. The police did confirm with MTV News that the case was ongoing but would not confirm that they were ready to arrest the Take Care MC or anyone in connection to the brawl. Coincidently, the manager of the W.I.P. nightclub (where the incident occurred) was arrested Friday due to existing warrants unrelated to the incident. Drake has big plans for tonight’s concert, which is a scheduled part of his critically acclaimed Club Paradise Tour. During an interview with DJ Scoob Doo’s BreadOverBed.com, Drizzy said he plans to outdo Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert. After a radio DJ insulted Nicki Minaj just hours before she was scheduled to perform at the June 3 concert in New Jersey, YMCMB boss Lil Wayne pulled the plug on his label’s all-star performance. “I’ve got everyone you would want to see, plus people that you wouldn’t expect to see,” Drake said. Real Life Set It Off?: Unarmed Flatbush Woman Killed By Police After Crashing Car During Rush Hour “Please Don’t Kill Me!” [Video]

Unarmed Brooklyn Woman Killed By NYPD After Car Crash Shantel Davis was killed in Brooklyn by NYPD after crashing her car in Flatbush: “A Brooklyn detective shot and killed an unarmed woman in a stolen car after she blew through three red lights, hit a minivan and tried to escape by driving in reverse, police said. The incident unfolded about 5:40 p.m. in East Flatbush when two plainclothes narcotics cops spotted Shantel Davis, 23, at the wheel of a gray Toyota Camry she allegedly carjacked at gunpoint on June 5. Davis — who had eight arrests on her rap sheet, sources said — ran a series of red lights along Church Ave. and crossed a double yellow line to pass cars at E. 38th St., where she smacked into the minivan, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. As the two cops approached the Camry, they saw Davis slide over to the passenger side, where the seat had been stripped out, and try to open the door. One officer, who has been on the force six years, got hit by the door and was thrown backward, Browne said. Davis then got back in the driver’s seat, put the car in reverse and hit the gas, police said. Simultaneously, another cop, identifed by sources as Detective Phillip Atkins, 44, was entering the driver’s side of the Camry, with his gun in hand. “He’s attempting with the other hand to shift the gear into park,” Browne said. “When she’s hitting the gas, a single round was discharged from his firearm, striking the woman in the chest.” Browne said it was too soon to say whether the detective, who has 12 years on the force, meant to pull the trigger or if it was an accident. Witnesses described a scene of chaos before the shooting. Dave McKenzie said he heard the cops yelling: “Get out! Get out!” “They try to pull her out of the car, and she fights them,” McKenzie said, recalling the woman screaming, “Let me go! Let me go!” “ ‘I don’t want to be killed! Don’t kill me!’ ” the woman yelled, McKenzie added. Lorraine Preddie, 61, said that after she heard the crash, she saw the detective in a blue NYPD T- shirt with a shield around his neck. “The next thing I saw was the police officer took his gun out and fired a shot,” she said. Witnesses said it was instantly clear the woman was gravely wounded.“She was bleeding, and then she just dropped. She fell on the floor facedown. She was shaking and the blood was just going out of her,” said one woman who works at a nearby laundermat. “She was in the street,” Preddie said. “They started giving her chest compressions and took her in the ambulance.” Davis died at Kings County Hospital. Councilman Jumaane Williams broke the news to her family. Police said the owner of the Camry confirmed that Davis swiped the vehicle. Davis, who was identified by family members, was due in court Friday on a kidnapping and attempted murder case stemming from a May 2011 attack. “This is like a bad dream,” said cousin Stephanie Gilmer, 40, who called Davis a “sweetie pie.” “She was only 23. She had her whole life in front of her.” Despite Davis’ criminal record, Assemblyman Nick Perry said he was concerned about the circumstances of her death “because the investigation I have seems to suggest this woman was not a threat.” Mike Palladino, head of NYPD detectives union, backed Atkins, who had never fired his gun in the line of duty. “Based on the facts and the circumstances, I’m confident that our detective’s actions were appropriate and justified,” Palladino said. “ Turn the page for the video

Crystal Scott: Fired Over Breastfeeding Photo?

The woman who recently organized an awareness campaign that came under heavy scrutiny for featuring two military moms breastfeeding in uniform has been fired. Crystal Scott, an Army veteran, military spouse, and breastfeeding advocate, was axed from her civilian job as an X-ray technician, her lawyer confirms. Also the program director of the Mom2Mom breastfeeding awareness group at Fairchild Air Force Base, Scott was fired by Schryver Medical June 1. Why? According to Crystal’s attorney, the company – a provider of X-rays, EKGs, ultrasounds, and other medical digital imaging services – had a clear agenda: “She was fired due to her passion about the Mom2Mom breastfeeding campaign, gender equality and women’s rights,” Patricia (Pat) K. Buchanan said. The company says it’s nothing like that at all. “This kind of took us by surprise,” Schryver Medical’s president, Jay Schryver, told Yahoo on the phone Friday. He issued a formal statement soon after: “Crystal Scott was terminated by the company on June 1st for various legitimate employment-related reasons,” he wrote in the statement. “Amongst other things, on the day prior to her termination, Ms. Scott had clocked in to the company’s timekeeping system and had been assigned time-sensitive tasks that were wholly ignored.” “Thereafter, Ms. Scott ignored the company’s repeated attempts to contact her to inquire as to her whereabouts and status of her job assignments.” “When the company finally did get a hold of Ms. Scott, she informed them that she was sick and would not be working.” “Based on company records – including GPS data from a company van that had been assigned to her – Ms. Scott was actually at a local media outlet conducting personal business, on company time, using company equipment as transportation.” “Schryver Medical can certainly understand the excitement Ms. Scott experienced in being courted by the media, both on a personal level and as a means to effectively promote her cause,” he continued. “That said, those circumstances simply do not excuse her from violating the reasonable expectations of her employer.”
