THIS IS WHY CHICAGO HAS GANG INFESTED STREETS: economic development funds are supposed to go to neighborhoods that need it.

And you wonder why the 2nd city has so much gang related violence and gangs terrorize the streets(schools, hoods, and the whole culture) and the police doesn't do anything to stop it?. Here is why in this amazing report by the REader. The Shadow Budget: Who Wins in Daley's TIF Game The economic development funds are supposed to go to neighborhoods that need it. Guess where they're really going. For the first time ever: how the city spends TIF funds, ward by ward By Mick Dumke and Ben Joravsky http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/the-shadow-budget-who-wins-in-daleys-tif-ga… And you wonder why the 2nd city has so much gang related violence and gangs terrorize the streets(schools, hoods, and the whole culture) and the police doesn't do anything to stop it?. Here is why in this amazing report by the REader. If ever there was a community in need of economic development, it's West Englewood. It's riddled with vacant lots. Those that aren't turning to swamps or being used as fly dumps are littered with rubble, broken glass, plastic bottles, and piles of soiled clothes. Since the beginning of 2008, more than 1,300 properties have been foreclosed on here, and countless homes are boarded up, vacant, or clearly occupied by squatters. The roads and sidewalks are crumbling; on the side streets you can hear cars rattling over potholes a block away. On the major thoroughfares, like Damen or 63rd, most of the storefronts still standing are boarded up, gated off, or both—even the liquor stores and churches. At the corner of Damen and 62nd, an abandoned car is parked at an abandoned service station. The city of Chicago has a program to eradicate blight and stimulate new development. Between 2004 and 2008 it spent about $1.5 billion in property tax dollars on communities Mayor Daley and his aides designated as needing a shot in the arm. Yet only about $33,000—or 0.002 percent of that $1.5 billion—went to the 15th Ward, which includes most of West Englewood. It ranks 49th out of 50 wards on the list of communities receiving those funds, just ahead of the middle-class 41st Ward on the northwest side. The 41st Ward didn't get any of that money because its longtime alderman, Brian Doherty, is opposed to the program. But the other wards not receiving much in the way of TIF funds include depressed communities such as Ashburn, Roseland, Little Village, Auburn-Gresham, and West Pullman. added by: Sprinkler

Maryland Citizens Face Felony Charges for Recording Cops

Several Marylanders face felony charges for recording their arrests on camera, and others have been intimidated to shut their cameras off. That's touched off a legal controversy. Mike Hellgren explains the fierce debate and what you should do to protect yourself. A man whose arrest was caught on video faces felony charges from Maryland State Police for recording it on camera. “We are enforcing the law, and we don't make any apologies for that,” said Greg Shipley, MSP. Video of another arrest at the Preakness quickly made its way online, despite an officer issuing this warning to the person who shot it, “Do me a favor and turn that off. It's illegal to videotape anybody's voice or anything else, against the law in the state of Maryland.” But is he right? Can police stop you from recording their actions, like a beating at the University of Maryland College Park? The American Civil Liberties Union says no. “For the government to be saying it has the power to prevent citizens from doing that is profoundly shocking, troubling, and particularly in the case of Maryland, simply flat-out wrong,” said David Roach, ACLU. Under Maryland law, conversations in private cannot be recorded without the consent of both people involved. added by: Omnomynous

How does Mexico treat its illegals?

By Larry Elder We can't infringe upon the right of people to move freely within our territory,” said Mexican President Vicente Fox during President George W. Bush's recent visit. Earlier, Fox said he stood by the statement he previously made to the BBC: “I dare say that in 10 years, the U.S. will be begging, will be pleading with Mexico to send it workers.” Does Mexico practice what it preaches? First, Mexico put its military and police forces on its porous, zigzagged, mountainous, crime-ridden southern border with Guatemala. Chiapas – the South Carolina-sized southern Mexican state that shares the longest border with Guatemala – is Mexico's poorest, most illiterate state. About Chiapas, one United Nations human rights commissioner said, “Mexico is one of the countries where illegal immigrants are highly vulnerable to human rights violations and become victims of degrading sexual exploitation and slavery-like practices, and are denied access to education and health care.” Typically, when Mexican authorities catch illegal aliens, they place them overnight in a detention center, then bus or fly them back to their country of origin. Despite the fact that Mexico militarized its border and deported 203,128 illegal immigrants in 2004, many illegals get through by bribing corrupt military and police. Do Mexicans appreciate the way America has allowed so many poor, Mexican illegals to enter the United States? No. According to a recent Zogby poll, 73 percent of Mexicans call Americans “racist”! When asked whether the United States' wealth comes from freedom and “plenty of opportunity to work,” 70 percent of Americans agreed, while only 22 percent of Mexicans agreed. Sixty-two percent of Mexicans said America became wealthy because “it exploits others' wealth.” While Americans, according to the poll, see Mexicans as hard-working (78 percent), Mexicans think of Americans as racist, intolerant and not very hard-working. Racist? Mexico should look in the mirror. According to the Houston Chronicle's Rachel Graves, around the turn of the 17th century, Mexico imported more African slaves than anywhere else in the New World. As a result, tens of thousands of blacks (no one knows for sure – the Mexican census does not recognize them) live in Mexico, mostly in destitute villages in its poorest states. An estimated 30,000 to 40,000 blacks live in Costa Chica. How do they fare? According to the Houston Chronicle, many are illiterate, struggling to get a decent education for their children from government schools. One Costa Chica missionary says, “The kids here are considered by their teachers to be largely unteachable.” When stopped by the police, Mexican blacks are often instructed to sing the Mexican national anthem to prove their citizenship! If so many Mexicans consider Americans racist, why do polls show that nearly half of Mexico's inhabitants say that their lives would improve if they could work here illegally? Intolerant? America legally accepts about 1 million immigrants per year, with perhaps as many as 12 million people living here illegally, about half of whom come from Mexico. Many estimate that 500,000 or more people enter the country illegally every year. California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante is Hispanic. So is the man who holds the powerful position of speaker of the California Assembly. Los Angeles, America's second-largest city, has a Hispanic mayor, and of the 54 members of California's congressional delegation, nine are Hispanic. The former governor of California once proposed granting driver's licenses to illegals. And in California, under some circumstances, an illegal alien can apply for the cheaper in-state college tuition. Many predict the Hispanic governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, former Clinton Cabinet member, will run for president. Not very hard-working? According to the International Labor Organization, Americans work more than almost anybody in the developed world, including Japan. The average American worked 1,824 hours in 2004, compared with the Spanish at 1,799 and the French at 1,441 hours. The Dutch put in even less – working 25 percent fewer hours than Americans. President Bush, against the wishes of many in his own party as well of half of all Americans, makes the reasonable case for a guest worker program that would allow or provide some sort of legal status for those living here illegally. Latino “activists” do that cause harm by staging protests and waving the Mexican flag and demanding their “rights.” For example, Juan Jose Gutierrez of Latino Movement USA says, “We think that the right thing to do is to grant full rights, full equality, under the laws in the Constitution of the United States, to all immigrants, period.” Americans raise legitimate concerns about the competition illegals pose to unskilled labor, and that illegals cut in front of people already waiting in line to get in the country legally. Americans resent expenditures for illegals on education and health care, and problems posed by some who commit additional crime in America. Illegals' attitude of entitlement helps to explain the growing anger Americans feel toward illegal aliens. Students leaving high schools, waving Mexican flags and chanting “Si se puede” do their “cause” – no favor. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=49620 added by: nowherefast

Another cop says oops and another child is murdered, where does it end?

Somebody tell me PLEASE, why is it an accident when the police do it, and murder when a private citizen does it? When are these spineless cops going to stop attacking and murdering people because ooops, we goofed? What the hell Congress, how about getting off your over privileged and overpaid rumps and doing something about the ongoing police brutality in this country? It is too much. It MUST stop. If the police are so afraid for their own safety that they can't refrain from shooting a 7 year-old girl, a family pet, or a grandmother, then maybe they need to get some damn training and stop acting like spineless self-protecting criminals themselves. Detroit — A Detroit Police officer hunting for a murder suspect fatally shot a 7-year-old girl inside an east-side home early Sunday morning, police officials said today. The shooting happened at 12:40 a.m., when officers from the Special Response Team executed a no-knock search warrant on a duplex in the 4000 block of Lillibridge on the city's east side. Police say an officer's gun discharged when he had a confrontation with a 46-year-old woman, and a single bullet struck 7-year-old Aiyana Jones in the neck as she slept on a nearby couch. “They came into my house with a flash grenade and a bullet,” said Charles Jones, father of the slain girl. “They say my mother (Mertilla Jones) resisted them, that she tried to take an officer's gun. My mother had never been in handcuffs in her life. They killed my baby and I want someone to tell the truth.” From The Detroit News: http://www.detnews.com/article/20100516/METRO/5160325/1409/Police-accidentally-s… added by: Incredulous

Spencer Pratt Calls Cops on Darlene Egelhoff; Mother of Heidi Montag Forced to Leave Premises

On The Hills Tuesday night, Spencer Pratt threatened to call the cops on Holly Montag if his wife’s sister didn’t leave his property. Idle threat? Apparently not! Police were dispatched to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag’s home just hours ago after the couple called for help, saying Heidi’s mother was refusing to leave. Heidi confirmed this to TMZ: “My mom just showed up to the house unannounced … after what she did to me on national TV, I have no desire to see her.” Montag is referring to a recent episode of The Hills in which Darlene Egelhoff said point blank that she did not approve of her daughter’s plastic surgeries. This week, Spencer claimed Darlene “tried to rape Heidi emotionally” and called her “just a vagina” who brought Heidi into the world, but is not special . Heidi Montag is done with her mom’s emotional abuse! Heidi notified her personal security team when her mom showed up “pounding on the door.” Darlene spoke with the police but has now left the premises. She continues, “Her showing up is completely out of line and psychotic. I’m getting a restraining order against her.” No arrests were made in the incident. Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Leffew said: “Officers arrived on the scene and advised the mother that since her daughter is an adult, she doesn’t have to speak to [the mom] if she doesn’t want to. The mother said ‘fine, no problem’ and left. There were no citations or arrests.” Heidi Montag promises this isn’t the end of all the drama: “I made it very clear that I want nothing to do with her in my life right now,” she tells People . “I’m sick to my stomach she would even do something like this. She needs to stay away from me. I’m planning on getting a restraining order against her.” Heidi Montag’s mom, Darlene Egelhoff, isn’t smiling right now .

‘I got the Bieber fever,’ singer says after appearing with Bieber on ‘Oprah.’ By Jocelyn Vena Charice Photo: Raymond Boyd/ Getty Images ATLANTA — When Gucci Mane was minutes away from ending his six-month bid behind bars , two of his close friends and musical collaborators — Shawty Lo and DJ Holiday — were there. “We waiting for my boy Gucci to come out of jail,” Shawty said with a big grin on his face. “We at the Fulton County Jail, right off of Bankhead. It’s a beautiful day. I got my boy DJ Holiday with me, first on sight. It’s about to go down, man.” “MTV, I told you we was gonna be here, baby,” Holiday said. “It feels good to be here,” Lo continued. “It’s finnin’ to be a very long summer. So MTV, y’all stay tuned. MTV, let’s get it.” Lo and Gucci’s friendship is based on many things, but they definitely have run-ins with the law in common. Shawty said he can relate to Gucci’s struggles in music and with the police. “Basically, me and Gucci, when my career started and Gucci’s career started, we was in the struggle. We was blackballed,” Lo said. “So me and Gucci, we feel like we’re brothers from a different mother. Just to be here, man, it feels good to be here. I been arrested 28 times, and I been convicted four times, so I know how it feels. The hip-hop police got it in [for us]. But at the end of the day, I’m here, thick or thin.” Holiday said that his and Lo’s support is genuine and not for publicity. “I ain’t about getting that look. We’re brothers,” the ATL mixtape king said. Holiday is also signed to Gucci’s label, 1017 Brick Squad. “We family. It’s bigger than that rap stuff. We had to be here. Lo had to be here. I had to be here. I ain’t about that. It’s about friendship and being a man and holding your man down. So if you got anybody down right now, make sure you the first person they see [when they get out] if you really holding them down.” Lo said he’s looking forward to more of his MC friends to come home as well. “We waiting on Weezy and Boosie too,” Shawty said. “Let’s get it.” Related Artists Charice Justin Bieber
