Ferguson Activists Continue To Protest Injustice After Police Shootings Of course they’re undeterred. Probably because they didn’t have anything to do with it… The Huffington Post reports: As the hunt for suspects in the shooting of two police officers in Ferguson, Missouri, extended into a third day, activists took the first steps on Saturday to force the mayor out of office while residents awaited signs of progress in the investigation. A group called Organization for Black Struggle (OBS) said it is starting a petition to recall Mayor James Knowles. He is one of the few senior city officials remaining after the police chief, a municipal judge and others resigned following a U.S. Department of Justice report March 4 depicting a Ferguson police force mired in racial bias. An uneasy quiet prevailed in the St. Louis suburb, in contrast with the mayhem that erupted near midnight on Thursday when gunshots rang out during a protest rally, wounding a pair of officers. Police arrested two people on Saturday night in neighboring St. Louis when about 70 protesters tried to block a street, a Reuters witness said. They were later released. The shooting on Thursday sent a fresh jolt of tension through a city that has become a symbol of racial conflict since a black teenager was killed by a white police officer last August and a grand jury returned no criminal charges. “There has been a lot of outrage here over the past seven months,” Montague Simmons, executive director of OBS, explaining why activists were determined to press ahead with their demands. “We feel this could be a moment of transformation where people go from being outraged to being involved.” There’s also some chatter about lack of evidence of these police shootings. NY Chapter Of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Hazed A Black Man To Death By now, everyone knows about the Oklahoma University chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon that was shut down after it’s racist chants about how “n-words” aren’t welcome in their fraternity. But recent racist headlines surrounding the frat are shining a new light on another salacious story about the organization from a few years ago. Cornell University in Ithica, NY was forced to shut down it’s own chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon after the tragic death of one of its members. Haitian-born Georges Desdunes, a member of the fraternity during a hazing ritual that was carried out by some of his established bothers and at least one new pledge. Via Inquisitr : Georges Desdunes, a 19-year-old aspiring pre-med student at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, was found dead in the early morning hours of February 25, 2011, The New York Times reported. Earlier that night, as part of a fraternity initiation ritual, Desdunes — the only son of a widowed Haitian immigrant mother from Brooklyn — was kidnapped by Sigma Alpha Epsilon members, who bound him hand and foot with zip ties and poured large amounts of alcoholic drinks down his throat. They then left him unconscious on a couch in the common area of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house, where a member of the cleaning staff later found him dead. Unsurprisingly Georges’ was left for dead by his “brothers,” who were all were nowhere in site when he was found, nor when authorities came to give him medical assistance. Via The New York Times : When the police and firefighters arrived, they found an unresponsive male. He was not breathing, had no pulse and was cold to the touch. They laid him on the floor, cut off his sweatshirt, suctioned his throat and applied CPR. He was put on a stretcher and taken to a hospital in an ambulance. The rescue workers remarked later that there was not a single fraternity brother in sight, just the cleaners, who told the police what they knew, then went downstairs to finish the kitchen. Even though Georges died as a result of the ritual, three frat brothers were acquitted of misdemeanor hazing charges. His mother filed a $25 million wrongful death lawsuit. This entire organization seems to be a huge mess. SMH.

Suspect Caught By Police After Commenting On Facebook Picture An Ohio man is in custody after apparently commenting under his own online wanted photos. After the Butler County Sheriff’s Office posted photos of Andrew Dale Marcum to their Facebook page , the suspect appeared to have responded to the charges in the Facebook comments. Via ABC 7 reports: I ain’t tripping half of them don’t even know me,” wrote a Facebook user under the name Andrew Marcum, whom many are now saying is the “dumbest criminal” in Ohio. “If you could stop by the Sheriff’s Office, that’d be great,” responded the Sheriff’s office in the comments. “Hey, it doesn’t hurt to ask.” Later, the Hamilton County Police also chimed in on the discussion: “Andrew Marcum please stay in Butler County…thanks for your cooperation.” Eventually, Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones took to Twitter to invite Marcum to turn himself in: While it can’t be confirmed that the man is in fact suspect Andrew Dale Marcum, the account has been active for some time, with a cover photo of a tattoo with the name “Marcum” on a man’s back post in 2014. On Tuesday night, the sheriff’s office posted another message, this one noting that Marcum had turned himself in. “Andrew Dale Marcum will be off Facebook temporarily, because there is no social media access in the Butler County Jail. Nick Gordon took to Twitter this week for an epic rant about ailing girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown and her father Bobby Brown, who he accuses of “sabotage.” And being an absentee dad, natch. Nick expressed a range of emotions as his longtime love remains in a medically induced coma after a setback at Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital. Gordon, who is under investigation after Bobbi Kristina was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub on January 31, has done this before. In fact, he says Bobbi Kristina would want him to tweet a lot . We can’t imagine she had anything like this stream of consciousness rant in mind, though. Nick writes that his “only regret” in the entire situation was not getting to Bobbi Kristina sooner to give CPR, and proceeded to rail against her family. As previously reported, Gordon has been prohibited from visiting Bobbi at the hospital, and has pointed the finger at Bobby Brown on social media. He did so again this week, and then some. Mother Beats And Publicly Shames Daughter With T-Shirt After Poor Grades 30-year-old Melany Joyce Alexander reportedly “whooped” her daughter at their home in Brooksville, Florida, after finding out the young girl had earned multiple F’s in her classes at West Hernando Middle School . Alexander reportedly beat her daughter with what her police affidavit described as a ‘leather belt with holes with metal divots’, leaving the middle-school student with ‘impressions in several places’, including her arms, neck, chest, back and legs. Alexander took things a step further, publicly shaming her daughter by writing a message about her poor grades to all the girl’s friends and potential dating partners on a t-shirt which she forced her to wear to school the next day. It read: I currently have all F’s in all of my classes. I am not aloud to have a boyfriend no time soon. So back off before I get another good woopin like I got last night (sic). Also I can no longer have ANY friends until ALL of my F’s are ALL brought up to C’s and up! So unless you are helping me with this goal… back off! My eating french fries & being a social butterfly is over because I know why my parents send me to school. I now know the importance of my education. I will learn. I will listen to my teachers and be respectful, at all times. I will do these things because I am failing… due to my social life. Want to be my friend. Help me by NOT! Judging from the spelling and grammar on that t-shirt, it doesn’t look like the mother would fare to well in an English class herself. When school officials saw the young lady come into school wearing the shirt and with noticeable bruises all over her arms, they immediately got her a new top to wear and called authorities. Georgia Cop And Police Chief Sued After Beaten Pregnant Woman Suffers Miscarriage Via DailyMail A Georgia police officer beat a pregnant woman so hard that she ended up having a miscarriage because he did not like the ‘tone’ she was speaking in, a new lawsuit has alleged. In the $50,000-plus suit, Kenya Harris, says she was called to Albany Police Department (APD) in West Oglethorpe Boulevard in May 2011 after her young son was arrested on unspecified charges. But after waiting for five hours, she informed officer Ryan Jenkins that she had other children to take care of at home and needed to leave. However, Jenkins reportedly reacted in a ‘hostile’ manner. He ‘stated that he did not appreciate the tone in which she was communicating with him, and further stated that if she continued he would take her head and “put it to the floor”,’ the suit says. Shortly after, Harris tried again to explain that she needed to leave – at which point, Jenkins followed through on his threat with the compliance of another officer, Richard Brown Jr, it is claimed. Jenkins reportedly grabbed the expectant mother by the neck, before ‘slamming her to the ground’, causing her to fall unconscious. When she woke up, Jenkins was sitting on her, the suit states. ‘Defendant Officer Jenkins, without provocation, grabbed plaintiff, who weighs less than one hundred twenty (120) pounds, by her neck and slammed her to the ground,’ it reads. Guess this cop feared that this 120 pound pregnant woman was going to take his life… After making bail the next day, Harris traveled to Phoebe Convenient Care in Dawson Road, where she discovered she had suffered a miscarriage due to the beating, the suit states. She was also treated for ‘severe physical’ injuries, including a knee contusion, neck spasms, muscle pain and bruising to her body, the document, filed in Federal Court, claims. Now, Harris is suing Jenkins and Brown, as well as Police Chief John Proctor, for the excessive force, assault, battery and emotional distress that she allegedly suffered at the department. Brazilian Inmates Escape From Jail 28 inmates escaped from a Brazilian jail after authorities say they seduced guards with kinky lingerie and spiked whiskey, before tying them up and breaking out. The Daily Mail reports: Twenty-eight inmates escaped from a Brazilian jail after three women in sexy police costumes ‘seduced’ the prison wardens. Police found three wardens naked and handcuffed inside the morning after the mass breakout at Nova Mutum public jail near Cuiaba. Investigators say the women drugged the guards with spiked whisky after convincing them to take part in an orgy. They arrived at around 3am on Thursday morning and asked if they could come inside to ‘chat and drink’, police say. The prison guards obliged and were soon persuaded to leave their posts, before heading to the sleeping quarters with the scantily clad women. After drugging and handcuffing the wardens, they took their keys and unlocked all the prison’s cells according to police chief Angelina de Andrades Ferreira. ‘Whoever wanted to escape left by the front door. From the moment they drank the whisky the agents don’t remember a thing. ‘One was found dizzy, trying to wake up. Another slept for the whole afternoon and couldn’t even be questioned.’ Dozens of prisoners walked straight out the main door carrying guns and ammunition they took from the prison caches. The inmates took three 12-calibre rifles, shotguns, two 38-calibre revolvers and munition, she said. Police later discovered a bag of lingerie and skimpy leather police uniforms which they believe the temptresses wore to distract the wardens.
