ISIS Hacks Governmental Social Media A group claiming to be affiliated with ISIS hacked US Central Command’s Twitter account and YouTube channel — posting pro-ISIS messages and what they claimed were classified Government documents. Via Business Insider : A group describing itself as the “CyberCaliphate” gained control of the official Twitter and YouTube pages of US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Monday and began posting messages supportive of the jihadist group Islamic State (also known as ISIS). “We can confirm that the CENTCOM Twitter and YouTube accounts were compromised earlier today,” CENTCOM said in a statement after it regained control of the accounts. “We are taking appropriate measures to address the matter. We have no further information to provide at this time.” The hack occurred at the same time US President Barack Obama was giving a speech on cybersecurity at the offices of the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. On Twitter, the group posted a message that declared “Pentagon networks hacked”; it indicated it broke into military “networks and personal devices.” In the message, the CyberCaliphate identified itself as being “under the auspices of ISIS.” It included links to what it described as leaked military files. It then began posting screenshots it described as “China scenarios.” A few hours after their initial comment, CENTCOM released another statement wherein they indicated confidential files were not leaked. “Our initial assessment is that no classified information was posted. When we have more, we’ll be sure to let folks know,” the statement said. The New York Times previously noted that “many of the documents posted by the hackers appear to be public records.” Hmmm. First “The Interview” fiasco, now this…looks like hacking is the new terrorism.

The Weeknd Arrested In Las Vegas It was a rough weekend for The Weeknd. The Alt-R&B crooner was tossed to the clink in Las Vegas on Saturday after delivering the fade to a police officer in the middle of a scuffle after his show . Via E!online : The Weeknd had a violent run-in with the law on Saturday, E! News has confirmed. The 24-year-old singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, was arrested after he allegedly punched a police officer in the head. Officer Laura Meltzer, a spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police tells E! News, “A man by the name Abel Tesfaye was arrested on Saturday night in Las Vegas at about 4:42 a.m. Special Event officers responded to call regarding a fight that broke out at the 3500 Block of South Las Vegas Blvd. When they got to the venue there was a big group of people in an altercation.” Meltzer added, “They tried to separate up the fight. They took one man (Abel Tesfaye) into the elevator and he punched the officer at the side of his head with a closed fist. He was arrested for battery of a protected person and taken to Clark County Detention. He is not there anymore so he must of bailed out.” In the mug shot from his arrest, The Weeknd appears calm and cooperative while sporting his signature crazy hairdo. George Zimmerman allegedly hurled a wine bottle at his girlfriend’s head last weekend, resulting in the latest in a string of arrests for Trayvon Martin’s killer. Since being acquitted in his murder trial after killing Martin – he claimed self-defense – Zimmerman has run afoul of the law on more than one occasion. He’s been questioned by police in two prior domestic altercations, with his then-wife Shellie Zimmerman, and with then-girlfriend Samantha Scheibe . According to a police report, this alleged domestic incident went down January 5 when Zimmerman and the woman were arguing over one of his paintings. Oh yes, George Zimmerman is a painter now . Law enforcement officials say the girlfriend became upset at him over a work of art that he wanted back, and then George tossed the bottle at her. He missed, hitting his garage door instead. Police questioned Zimmerman about the fight on January 9, at which point he claimed that she threw the bottle . Suffice it to say, cops weren’t buying it. They arrested him for aggravated assault. TMZ reports that the unnamed woman has been dating him for a few months. How seriously? A California woman who became an activist against police brutality after the father of her daughter was brutally beaten to death by 15 police officers back in 2005 was rightfully outraged upon learning that her 7-year-old daughter was being forced to celebrate “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” at school. via The Free Thought Project North Beardsley Elementary in Bakersfield, California, is facing backlash after the principal, Aimee Williamson, who happens to be the wife of the Bakersfield police chief, decided to celebrate the pseudo holiday of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on January 9th. The biggest problem is that this hits far too close to home for one student. Outspoken activist Alicia Moore was horrified when her seven year old daughter returned home from school on Thursday upset about her class assignment that day, as her older brother’s father was brutally beaten to death by 15 Bakersfield police officers in 2005. According to Moore, her daughter’s teacher put three sentences on the board for students to choose from, all thanking and supporting the police. The options included, “Thank you for arresting the bad guys!” and “Thank you for saving our city.” The teacher reportedly told the students that anything negative would be thrown in the trash. She further instructed the students that they were to wear blue on Friday in support of Law Enforcement. Moore’s daughter is a very bright young girl who prides herself on her perfect attendance record. She also not only attends, but is consistently quick to jump into protests as this is an issue she is very passionate about. She will be staying home from school tomorrow due to the position her teacher has put her in. James Moore, the father of her 21 year old brother, was bound, hand and foot, when as many as 15 Bakersfield deputies beat him to death in the basement of the jail in 2005. James was arrested on suspicion of making threats after he got into an argument with the mother of his younger son. The main issue with this is that police officers should be taught to respect the rights of citizens just as much as citizens should also respect the authority of police and until each of those can happen equally, there will continue to be tension between the two. A/S/L? Woman Robbed And Shot In The Face By Man She Met Online A Georgia man shot and robbed a woman he met through the online dating site , Badoo.com. Via The Grio reports: The woman, whom police are not identifying, agreed to meet the man at a Days Inn on Christmas Eve. The two then went to dinner at Waffle House. The man, who told the woman his name was “Cash,” decided dinner was too expensive and said he wanted to return to the motel. On their way home, he ordered she stop the car and give him her purse, according to 11Alive. As the woman was attempting to exit the car, he shot her in the face. She is expected to survive. The man referred to himself as “King Luccianno” on the dating site. He told the woman he was from Tennessee, but police believe that may be a lie. After shooting the woman, the man stole her car and escaped. Major E.W. Strozier of the College Park Police Department told 11Alive this story illustrates the perils of online dating: When you go to these social media websites for dating you have to be careful of the people you meet because most of the time the profile they put on there is not really them. If you’re going to meet them, do it in a very public place and don’t go anywhere with them until you feel comfortable. You can’t be serious!!!!
