You’re fired. It was Donald Trump’s catchphrase during his tenure as host of NBC’s The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice. It’s a phrase no one wants to hear, filled as it is with the dread of an irate authority figure and terminated employment, and yet it helped endear Trump to an American public that had all but forgotten about him when his first reality series premiered in 2004. Now, millions are aching to repeat those words back to the unlikely 45th President of the United States. From the time of his stunning election, there’s been talk of the possibility that Trump might not last a full term in office . In the wake of news that his administration may have been colluding with Russia for much of the past year and the resignation of top national security adviser General Michael Flynn, it seems more likely than ever that Trump will face a full investigation sometime in the near future. Bad news for America, but potentially good news for gamblers who are bored with playing the ponies and betting on point spreads. As they do with pretty much everything else, from the length of the national anthem at the Super Bowl to the likelihood that Jennifer Lawrence will fall down at an awards show, oddsmakers are calculating the chances of a Trump impeachment. And these days they’re liking the president’s chances of getting the boot. The odds of a Trump impeachment in 2017 are currently sitting at 4/1. If he makes it through his first year in the White House, however, it seems the likelihood that Trump will last a full four years will jump considerably. The odds of a Trump’s impeachment in 2018 are currently at 9/1. In 2019, they’re 16/1 in 2019 and they’re at a whopping 20/1 in the year 2020. So if you have an inkling that Trump will get tossed three years from now, you may want to put some dollars down on it. Not surprisingly, oddsmakers are deeming it less likely that the president will voluntarily step down. The “no” prop bet on Trump resigning is currently at 4/11. The “yes” is a 15/8. Of course, anyone familiar with Trump’s ego knows that all the sh-t would have to hit all the fans simultaneously for Trump to admit defeat and surrender the White House. But hey, these are exciting times in the worst possible way, and anything is possible! So get your bets in now, before we’re all wagering in rubles! Wish us luck, rest of the world! Back in February of 2015, several media outlets reported that Val Kilmer was on his deathbed . The actor was reportedly suffering from throat cancer, and several insiders insisted that his condition had been exacerbated by his Christian Scientist beliefs, which prevented him from undergoing necessary medical procedures. Clearly, either Kilmer’s condition was exaggerated or he made a miraculous recovery, because two years later, the beloved screen icon is still standing – but some continue to maintain that he’s on his last legs. Kilmer appeared at an event in Los Angeles last week to promote his one-man show Citizen Twain, which has reportedly been put on indefinite hiatus due to the actor’s health issues. Kilmer canceled a tour of the show back in November and has yet to reschedule. The event on February 9 marked his first public appearance in several weeks. Sadly, those in attendance say the actor appeared pale and gaunt, and was unable to stand while addressing the audience (as prior speakers had) and seemed to run out of breath while speaking. “He performs as the ghost of Mark Twain in the show, but even as a dead man he looked ten times better than he does now,” one attendee told Radar Online. The witness added: “The difference between Val three years ago and him on stage now is both shocking and heartbreaking.” “He could barely stand, he had to sit down to talk,” said another audience member. “He was gasping for breath and he’s lost about half his body weight. His face has such deep lines on it and he appears so fragile. It is so sad to see such a huge talent so humbled.” Kilmer’s sallow appearance and long disappearances from the spotlight have led to numerous rumors about his declining health. Back in November, the actor’s longtime friend Michael Douglas confirmed that Kilmer has cancer . Kilmer issued a statement saying that he is fond of Douglas, but that Douglas is telling tales out of school: “Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talented people,” Kilmer said. “I’m sure he meant no harm.” The elegiac tone of Citizen Twain has led some fans to speculate that it’s meant to serve as Kilmer’s swan song: “The first half of the show is very funny, but the second half is a lot more reflective,” says one audience member. “It’s very philosophical in places and deals with some big questions.” Our thoughts go out to Kilmer and his family. Late Monday night, General Michael Flynn resigned his post as National Security Advisor after reports confirmed that he had been in touch with Russian officials during the Donald Trump administration's transition to the Oval Office. He told these officials that President Trump would likely lift the sanctions imposed on Russia by Barack Obama… … and then he lied to Vice President Mike Pence (among others) about these discussions. As part of The Washington Post story that broke this troubling news, we learned that the Justice Department warned President Trump's administration last month that Flynn misled Pence about his conversation with the Russian ambassador to the United States. The Justice Department therefore concluded, in its briefing of President Trump, that Flynn could be susceptible to blackmail by Russia. And yet Trump did not fire Flynn. The General resigned mere hours after advisor Kellyanne Conway told reporters that he had the “full confidence” of the President. Yes, the same President who was aware that Flynn had spoken to Russia and presumably lied about this contact to the Vice President a few weeks ago. So… either Flynn never lied and the administration was aware all along of Flynn's traitorous actions. Or Flynn did lie, did talk to Russia illegally and Trump knew all about it – and didn't care. There are no other alternatives here. Conway suggested that Flynn's resignation was his own decision even though the administration knew a month ago that he misled them. “You’re saying that's the straw that broke the camel’s back, but the White House knew about that last month when the Justice Department warned the White House that [Flynn] had not been completely honest,” Lauer said, adding: “Kellyanne, that makes no sense! “Last month the Justice Department warned the White House that General Flynn had misled them! And that as a result he was vulnerable to blackmail and at that moment he still had the complete trust of the president?” It's an amazing exchange, and a very awkward exchange. Watch every second of it below:
Emily Ratajkowski is standing up for Melania Trump. We know, we know: that’s not a sentence you expected to read today. It’s not a sentence we expected to write, either. But the model and actress wrote on Twitter last night that she was seated alongside an unnamed New York Times reporter at a New York Fashion Week on Monday when he said the following: “Melania is a hooker.” And Ratajkowski, who supported Bernie Sanders in last year’s Presidential election, was not about to let this comment go unanswered. “Whatever your politics, it’s crucial to call this out for what it is,” Ratajkowski wrote, adding: “Slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should.” Last July, The New York Post published old photos of Melania Trump nude , with other sources confirming that the First Lady posed for some very revealing shoots back in the day. In 1995, Trump posed naked for a steamy girl-on-girl shoot for Max Magazine, a now-defunct French men’s monthly. Five years later, she appeared topless in an especially seductive spread in British GQ. But Ratajkowski is right, of course. Appearing in those types of photos is very different than accepting money in exchange for sex. Moreover, why the heck is some journalist slamming Melania Trump? Her only real sin in all of this national drama is having bad taste in men. Ratajkowski concluded her tweets by referred to these kind of “gender specific attacks” as “disgusting” examples of “sexist bullshit.” The First Lady, meanwhile, jumped on Twitter in response to Ratajkowski’s defense ad showed her appreciation to the model. “Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women!” Trump wrote to her 6.81 million followers on Monday evening, adding Ratajkowski’s handle and the following hashtags: “#PowerOfEveryWoman #PowerOfTheFirstLady” A rep for The New York Times released a statement on Monday in response to Ratajkowski’s Tweet. “At a party last night, a Times reporter who does not cover Washington or politics referred to an unfounded rumor regarding Melania Trump,” the statement read. “The comment was not intended to be public, but it was nonetheless completely inappropriate and should not have occurred. Editors have talked to the reporter in question about the lapse.” Ratajkowski also re-Tweeted a lengthy message shared by a Teen Vogue writer named Brittney McNamara. It defended Melania Trump against these kinds of sexist attacks and even went into depth on how sex workers in general should not be marginalized in this kind of manner. Read the message shared by McNamara above and then sound off below: Do you admire Ratajkowski for sticking up for Melania Trump? Or do you think the First Lady deserves all this scorn and derision because she is married to Donald Trump?
