NYT’s Warren: WikiLeaks Show Obama’s Doing a Good Job

Here's a twist on the WikiLeaks document dump only a liberal media member could come up with: it shows the Obama administration is doing a good job. So said former long-time Chicago Tribuner recently turned New York Times columnist James Warren on this weekend's “McLaughlin Group” (video follows with transcript and commentary): read more

AP Reporters Try to Breathe Life Into Moribund UN Cancun Climate Conference

I do hope that Associated Press reporters Arthur Max and Charles J. Hanley are finding some recreational time while they are reporting from Cancun about what's happening at the ” United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.” The pair's bosses ought to be asking them how much real attention they are paying to the festivities since they began. For example, as far as I can tell from two reports by Mr. Max ( here and here ), he seems to have missed the opening prayer to the pagan goddess Ixchel; Ken Shepherd at NewsBusters took note of it from thousands of miles away.

Pulitzer Board Moves Further Left, Picks Up WaPo’s Eugene Robinson

Columbia University announced Thursday that Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson will join the Pulitzer Board, which gives out the renowned journalism awards each year. Robinson, who won a Pulitzer for his coverage of the 2008 presidential race, will strengthen the leftist complexion of the board, which already has a meager presence of conservative minds. In fact, Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul Gigot seems to be the only “openly” conservative member of the board. read more

Ed Schultz Challenges Dem Congresswoman on Bogus Claim

My hat's off to you, Ed. You've restored my faith in the possibility of liberals occasionally seeing the light. Here's an exchange between Schultz and Rep. Donna Edwards of Maryland on Schultz's radio show Thursday — read more

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Violated By Sarah Palin!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who introduced Sarah Palin at political rallies back in 2008 and campaigned for the V.P. candidate, feels used and abused by her now. “Elizabeth feels used by the former governor,” a source told PopEater. “She stood up and did everything she could to get Sarah to the White House.” “She was expecting to have made a friend for life. Elizabeth isn’t fake. You might not like her politics, but she is very genuine person.” But alas …

Jon Stewart Rips McCain on His Resistance to Repeal of DADT; Paints Him as Crazy Japanese Soldier Fighting WWII Years After 1945

Liberal comedian Jon Stewart once again lampooned Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) over his continued opposition to repealing the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) policy, saying the senator is quite behind the times with his stand. “Well you're really going down with the ship, huh,” he ripped navy veteran McCain's remarks. “McCain's like one of them Japanese soldiers living on Okinawa in 1949, still fighting because he doesn't realize the war ended a long time ago,” Stewart quipped. “And for some reason, even though he's been alone for years and years on this island, he doesn't like gay people.” Stewart opened his Thursday show with an eight-minute segment covering the DADT debate, in the wake of a published study by the military showing that the majority of servicemen polled don't mind serving with gay comrades. He trumpeted soundbites from multiple figures who support a repeal of DADT – including remarks from Sen. Joe Liebermann (I-Conn.), a usual target of Stewart's mockery.

CBS Frets Over Obama’s Liberal Base Being Upset By Possible Tax Deal

On Friday's CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith discussed a potential deal between the Obama administration and House Republicans on maintaining current tax rates, declaring: “The Democrats are – their noses are out of joint about this.” Political analyst John Dickerson agreed: “Very much so, because they want the President to stand up and fight.” Dickerson went on to detail liberal efforts to put pressure on Obama: “There are ads that are going to be running this weekend saying, 'Don't Cave, Mr. President.' They want Barack Obama to make a stand and say Republicans want tax cuts for the wealthy…and Democrats want tax cuts for the middle-class.” He added: “But the President is making a deal and it doesn't look like it's going the way the liberals want and they are very angry.” read more

WaPo Promotes Media Matters War on Fox, Including Charge They’ll Cause the Next OKC Bombing

On the front page of Friday's Style section in the Washington Post is a story on professional Fox News haters . “Outfoxed by Fox News? No way. Liberal group Media Matters relentlessly, obsessively fights conservative network.” The standout paragraph is when media reporter Paul Farhi allows MMFA leader David Brock blame Fox for the next Oklahoma City bombing: “Every sponsor of every Fox show should be put on notice that this insanity is being underwritten by [advertisers],” Brock says. He adds: “If Beck isn't stopped, I think we'll have another Oklahoma City [bombing] in this country.” The Post thought this was worthy enough to highlight in a pull quote — but not the reckless, mudslinging second half. The other bizarre and unproven piece of the story is suggesting liberal Maryland Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (now heading a Democrat ad group with Brock) is somehow a “centrist” that proves Media Matters isn't too liberal: read more
