Having already won a Golden Globe for her turn as sassy maid Minny Jackson in “The Help” on top of numerous other nominations, Spencer can add another notch to her increasingly impressive belt Tuesday (January 24) — because, to the surprise of precisely no one, the 41-year-old actress has earned a well-deserved Best Supporting Actress nod at this year’s Academy Awards . “I am never presumptuous, because these sorts of things are beyond our control and I didn’t want to be set up for disappointment,” Spencer said in a statement reacting to the nomination. “A lot of us actually went to dinner last night and slept over and wanted to be together when we found out, so in case we didn’t get that call we wanted to be nice and hungover.” Earlier in the week, MTV News caught up with Spencer at the Sundance Film Festival , which she attended as part of the cast of the alcohol drama “Smashed.” When asked for her views on her probable nomination, the always humble actress revealed that she wasn’t even giving the possibility any thought. “I’ve been very good about not thinking about Oscar,” she told MTV’s Josh Horowitz. “I know I’m going to the BAFTAs, and I know I’m going to the SAGs. It would be nice to go to the Oscars. “That little movie was about something that resonated with people, and it became a phenomenon,” she said of her experience with “The Help,” adding that she hopes moviegoers will embrace her new movie “Smashed” with an equal amount of passion. “Hopefully I’ll continue to get more roles like this, in extremely wonderful and very relevant films. … It feels like I’m eating a bunch of cake right now!” The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. Who knows when the man sleeps, as he has not one but two highly anticipated, expected-to-be-blockbuster films in theaters this holiday season: “The Adventures of Tintin” and “War Horse.” Not that we anticipate he’ll slow down anytime soon, with “Lincoln” and “Robopocalypse” set to hit theaters in 2012 and 2013, respectively — not to mention the slew of films on which he serves as a producer, plus the constant rumblings about the possibility of more “Indiana Jones” and “Jurassic Park” movies. When MTV News sat down with the prolific director recently during the press day for “Tintin,” we asked his thoughts about slowing down. “I never think about being tapped out or retiring. Even though I’m turning 65 in a matter of a week, I never think about that; it just doesn’t occur to me,” he replied. “I just love so much the work and the discovery: the whole process of discovering a new story, a new way to shoot a film, working with new actors I’ve always wanted to work with and never got a chance to until now. But then again…maybe it was jus her big tits….that she’s sharing with the world via a window with a cleavage view in Miami….retracing her steps from whore to hollywood I guess….cuz it was just 25 years ago when she was a little hispanic single mother with big tits on a raft in Miami’s port….Look at her now….old, hot enough from the right angle, and not as dumpy as her big tits would make you think..unless she’s in a corset…cuz she’s got a dream….and she’s gonna ride it as long as her genes can….and I’ll happily watch..

Sister Wives Recap: Boston, Here They Come

Sister Wives took the show on the road this week. In the wake of a more serious episode that saw them discuss polygamist leader Warren Jeffs , TLC’s big happy polygamist family drama went road-trippin’ last night. The occasion was a panel discussion that Kody Brown and his four wives, Meri, Christine, Janelle and Robyn, agreed to attend at the request of a lecturer they met. Despite fears of facing a hostile audience, the fab five and the four oldest Brown children (Mariah, Logan, Aspyn and Madison) ventured out to the East Coast … The family first went out to dinner with Danielle, the pastor who invited them out and arranged this, and some college students to prep them for the panel discussion. Kody and the wives answered questions (at times personal ones) and a gay student, who worries that the Brown family wouldn’t accept him, learns it’s not the case. “How can we say we don’t accept your lifestyle, but please accept ours? We’re not like that,” says Christine, earning rave reviews from the student and her audience. The four teenagers, who are out there to look at Boston-area colleges, went out for ice cream with the college students, who asked about the plural marriage lifestyle. Specifically, will they continue it themselves when they become adults? Mariah, Meri’s only child, said, “I’ve decided I want to live like this.” Seriously. She even said she looks forward to having sister wives. That’s … good for her? Madison, however, has different ideas. She told the college students she doesn’t want to be in a plural marriage and Aspyn says she doesn’t think she will, either. Logan says Kody told him to just do whatever makes him happy, and really, that’s what it’s all about. As long as they’re not pressured and they have the choice. Finally, at the event, Kody worried people will call him a misogynist. That’s not exactly what happened, but he did face some tough questions just the same. Asked about the possibility of “brother husbands,” Kody was thrown for a loop and said he found the question “abrasive.” “That’s not a tenant of our faith,” Meri says. “Religions have rules and beliefs,” added Janelle, but you have to admit, that’s a fair question. Religion or not, what if the shoe were on the other foot, Kode-man? All in all, people were inquisitive, but receptive and tolerant.

Kerry Washington will reunite with Jamie Foxx in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film “Django Unchained.” According to deadline.com, Kerrry will play Broomhilda, the wife of Django (Jamie Foxx), making this the second time she plays the spouse of a Jamie Foxx character (she portrayed Della Bea Robinson in ‘Ray). The actress joins a cast that already includes Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Don Johnson, Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson. Gordon Ramsay has nothing at all to do with this story. Investigators have not yet ruled out the possibility of suicide. “Percy was a little guy with big problems,” said one producer. “He was doing well but under pressure like everyone else in this god damn industry.” In a recent interview, the 35-year-old Percy revealed his delight at being compared to Ramsay.
