Edita Vilkeviciute Naked for Numero of the Day

I did a post on this Edita Vilkeviciute Topless in a Magazine last week. I had never heard of her or her stupid last name before that and that’s unfortunate, because if I did, maybe she would be getting naked for me as my mail order bride, instead of for some big modeling agency she got signed to that is totally ruining the underground sex trade by recruiting the hot ones to America before the perverts who have been saving up their allowance the last decade can get at them, leaving the perverts with a shitty talent pool to choose from, while giving us girls willing to get naked cuz it’s better than their poverty and it doesn’t even seem sleazy cuz it’s for fashion, even though getting paid to get naked is getting paid to get naked, there’s no more respectable way to do it, it’s all pretty much the same, and I doubt this bitch really cares, she’s too busy counting moeny she never thought she’d have, making this some heartfelt immigrant in America success story that works for me, thanks to the nipples. Next time, let’s hope for more vagina lip.

Animal Camp Rallies for Abused Animals and Veganism (Book Review)

Photo via sneakerdog Animal sanctuaries are like home base, a safe zone for animals that have been abused or displaced where, with luck, they can live the rest of their lives in happy, loving situations. From neglected pets to lab animals, from non-releasable wild animals to farm animals that narrowly escape the slaughter house, these sanctuaries will take in the worst off animals — as many as facilities can accommodate — and either house them or find suitable homes for them. Along with a safe place for animals, sanctuaries typically work … Read the full story on TreeHugger

Can Big Society Save the Planet, and Squash Big Government Too?

Image credit: Conservative Home I’ve always found the assertion that all environmentalists are socialist a little hard to swallow. I know plenty of conservatives who love the natural world and abhor waste. And I know plenty of radical greens whose anti-authoritarian, DIY streak puts them in direct conflict with any “big government” solutions from the traditional left. This very debate is flourishing right now over in the UK, with the

Pras Questions Wyclef Jean’s Goals For Haiti

‘He didn’t even mention the short term,’ Pras says of former Fugees bandmate. By Jayson Rodriguez Pras Photo: MTV News Pras spoke out against his former Fugees group member Wyclef ‘s presidential run recently, explaining that he felt the hip-hop musician wasn’t the right type of leader to help the poverty- and earthquake-ravaged country of Haiti. The “Ghetto Superstar” artist also criticized Wyclef’s announcement on CNN , saying the political hopeful failed to deliver a vision. Pras told MTV News that despite his friend’s good intentions, he lacks the experience to develop policy to help the country in its vulnerable state. “He talks about health care, he talks about education, he talks about infrastructure,” Pras told MTV News. “But that’s in any society. That’s right here in America, we need that. But how are you gonna get to that point? There’s a short-term goal that needs to be addressed and there’s a long-term goal. To be honest with you, the short term is probably more important than the long term. And he didn’t even mention the short term.” Wyclef also drew the ire of actor Sean Penn, who delivered a harsh commentary against the Haitian activist while appearing on CNN himself. “Right now, I worry that this is a campaign that is more about a vision of flying around the world, talking to people. It’s certainly not one of the youth drafting him,” Penn said. “I would be quite sure that this is an influence of corporations here in the United States and private individuals that may well have capitalized on his will to see himself flying around the world. Clef has said the people are drafting him to run. “I feel like I’m being drafted by the population right now to give them a different face, a different voice,” he said during his announcement. Pras, though, noted his former Fugee mate speaks broken Creole and doesn’t even speak French, key languages for Haitians, which will make his impending run difficult. What do you think of Wyclef’s presidential bid? Let us know in the comments. Related Artists Pras Wyclef Jean

Paying Ecuador To Not Drill The Yasuni: Extortion Or Sound Conservation Practice?

Stephen recently posted about how Ecuador Will Receive $3.6 Billion to Not Drill for Oil . This is a controversial subject that TreeHugger has been covering for a couple of years; many have suggested that it is akin to blackmail, with Ecuador extorting money to leave the oil under what is supposed to be a national park. Hence posts with titles like Ecuador Says Show Me the … Read the full story on TreeHugger

In Defence of Squatting: If It’s Unused, Is It Yours?

Image credit: The Guardian Oh dear. I suspect I am going to reawaken the age-old “is environmentalism socialist ” debate with this post. Because there’s nothing like discussing property rights to get people to back into their respective political corners. But try as I might, I can’t avoid the fact that everywhere there is perfectly good produce, clothing, and energy going to waste. And everywhere there are

Can Excess Fruit Fight Urban Hunger?

Image credit: Food Forward Fresh fruit isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when I think about LA. Nevertheless, we’ve already heard about Fallen Fruit —an art project turned activist movement which aims to liberate unused ‘public’ fruit. (The movement eventually lead to a take over of LA Art Museum with some edible environmental art .) Another crew of Angelinos seeking to redefine their cities relationship to food is
