Fox News Mocks 102-Year-Old’s Long Wait To Vote Via The Grio reports: Many Americans found the story of 102-year-old Desiline Victor to be heartwarming; the 102-year-old Miami woman, who was born in Haiti and labored as a farm worker before retiring, stood in line for hours waiting to vote last October, eliciting cheers when she finally emerged from the polling place with her “I voted” sticker. On Tuesday, she became the oldest person ever invited to attend the State of the Union. She was a guest of first lady Michelle Obama. However at Fox News, Desiline’s story was written off as a “non-issue.” On Fox News Radio’s Kilmeade & Friends, host Brian Kilmeade and Fox’s Martha MacCallum and Bill Hemmer laughed off the difficulties 102-year-old Desiline Victor endured in order to vote in the 2012 election. Victor, who was invited to the State of the Union address and whom President Obama applauded for enduring a long wait to vote, had to make two trips to the polls and wait in line for over three hours before she was able to cast her ballot. Discussing Victor, MacCallum wondered, “What’s the big deal?” and said, “This is such a non-issue. Ridiculous.” Hemmer added that at the State of the Union, “They held her up as a victim. What was she a victim of?” A non issue? Really??? Thank you, Desiline Victor for reminding us of where we’ve been and how far we must go to secure and exercise the right to vote in of all places, America. The signal caller and devout Christian is scheduled to speak at First Baptist Dallas on April 28, a giant establishment in Texas whose pastor – Robert Jeffress – has received a lot of attention for anti-gay and anti-Semitic comments. In October 2011, Jeffress said Islam and Mormonism are heretical religions “from the pit of hell,” and added that “you can’t be saved being a Jew.” He also warned his 11,000-member Dallas congregation in November that President Barack Obama’s re-election would “lead to the rise of the Antichrist.” The Huffington Post and Think Progess also report that Jeffries doesn’t believe gays should serve in the military because “70% of the gay population” has AIDS, while also connection homosexual sex with pedophilia. Tebow has not made any public comments about the gig, but he is scheduled to speak at Sunday morning worship.

JORDAN PLAYS his new favorite trivia game, asking which current players could be nearly as successful in his era. “Our era,” he says over and over again, calling modern players soft, coddled and ill-prepared for the highest level of the game. This is personal to him, since he’ll be compared to this generation, and since he has to build a franchise with this generation’s players. “I’ll give you a hint,” he says. “I can only come up with four.” He lists them: LeBron, Kobe, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki. When someone on TV compares LeBron to Oscar Robertson, Jordan fumes. Via CNN reports : President Barack Obama challenged Congress to join him in taking on “our generation’s task” to ignite the growth of a “rising, thriving middle class,” using the first State of the Union speech of his second term to prod Republicans to compromise on the major challenges facing the nation. “It is our unfinished task to restore the basic bargain that built this country — the idea that if you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or who you love,” Obama said Tuesday night, sounding familiar themes from his re-election campaign last year. The president emphasized economic growth and job creation, and insisted that his proposals would not increase the nation’s federal deficit. He also made an emotional plea for Congress to hold votes on controversial proposals for tougher gun laws after the Newtown, Connecticut, shootings in December that killed 20 schoolchildren. At the same time, Obama called for legislators to work together for the good of the nation, saying Americans “expect us to put the nation’s interests before party.” “They do expect us to forge reasonable compromise where we can,” he said. “For they know that America moves forward only when we do so together, and that the responsibility of improving this union remains the task of us all.” It was his fourth State of the Union address and seventh speech to a joint sitting of Congress, and analysts considered it a crucial moment for setting the tone for the political dialogue after four years of partisan division and congressional dysfunction. With the government facing deep spending cuts mandated by a previous agreement between Obama and Congress to raise the federal debt ceiling, Obama renewed his call for a comprehensive deficit-reduction plan that includes new tax revenue coupled with spending cuts. President Obama also called for the Federal minimum wage to be raised to $9.00, citing statistics which show that even in homes where two family members work full-time entry level jobs, they are unable to live above the poverty line. He also spoke strongly about the need to keep the world safe from nuclear weapons, directly addressing concerns about Iran and North Korean nuclear programs, as well as the U.S./Soviet programs. According to Media Matters: National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent said that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder are “promoting” racism and that the Obama administration has a “racist agenda.” In the past week Nugent has been praised by media figures on CNN and Fox News. Nugent made his comments during an interview on WorldNetDaily’s radio program ; he recently joined the birther website as a columnist… NUGENT: Again it really is a nation divided. And it’s never been more divided. The racism that President Obama and Eric “Gunrunning” Holder promote is just heartbreaking and it’s tragic and those of us that know better have got to constantly expose their ruse and their scams and their racist agenda. Just a week ago, CNN reporter Deb Feyerick praised Nugent as having a “deep connection with the facts” in the gun policy debate. In a follow-up segment on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, Feyerick and host Erin Burnett treated Nugent’s conspiracy theory that Obama will confiscate firearms as a serious policy debate. On Tuesday, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly applauded Nugent’s opposition to gun violence prevention proposals, stating, “Now that kind of straight talk is what the Republican Party needs.” This is not the first time Nugent has addressed the topic of race for WND. On January 9, the conspiracy clearinghouse published an interview with Nugent where he claimed, “there will come a time when the gun owners of America, the law-abiding gun owners of America, will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed.” Nugent’s comparison between gun owners and Rosa Parks was roundly denounced by civil rights leaders. Nugent, an ardent defender of the Confederate flag, has a lengthy history of making racially charged comments. A computer hacker has broken into the email accounts of some of the family members of former presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. The hacker has already posted tons of stolen material, which he/she reportedly got from the AOL account of Dorothy Bush Koch, 53, Dubya’s little sister. Among the treasure trove of items hacked? Private pictures of 88-year-old President George H.W. Bush while he was being treated in the hospital. Sensitive photos and information were obtained by the hacker, including a four digit code needed to enter George W. Bush’s home security gate. The hacker also claimed to have addresses and contact information for Bush family members, including both former presidents and their children. The Smoking Gun reports that the hacked email accounts include several family members and their correspondence with other family and friends. Reports indicate that “In e-mail exchanges with the person who claimed responsibility for the hack, the individual claimed to have swiped ‘a lot of stuff.’” One email to friend Willard Heminway from Brit Hume after the 2012 election results reads, “Election outcome disappointing, but there are many silver linings.” The emails also show details on how serious George H.W. Bush’s health was in late December, when he was hospitalized; his funeral was being planned. OH, and the hacker also claimed to have obtained photos of paintings George W. Bush has been working on, “including self-portraits of him showering and in a bathtub.” Seriously.
