For decades women have been taking fashion cues from their male counterparts, creating an androgynous sensibility that has since become very popular today. From Katherine Hepburn in the 1930’s, to the Le Smoking suit created by fashion giant, Yves Saint Laurent—women all over have been embracing menswear into their daily wardrobes. More and more we’re seeing men’s inspired suits walk down the runways during fashion week… Continue
Country singer Hank Williams Jr. threw out some pretty ridiculous comments during a show on Friday. No surprise that the musician got cheers from the white crowd after he announced on-stage that Obama’s an America-hating Muslim. The country star, who caused a stir last year by comparing President Barack Obama to Hitler, unleashed more sensational criticism of the Commander in Chief at the Iowa State Fair. According to the Des Moines Register Williams told the crowd: “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him!” The controversial comments went over well with the crowd, which responded with cheers. Williams has a history of speaking his mind about Obama. Last year, ESPN dropped Williams’ “All My Rowdy Friends” from its Monday Night Football broadcast after he appeared on Fox & Friends and criticized House Speaker John Boehner for playing golf with the president, calling it “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.” “It’s like Hitler playing golf with [Israel Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu,” he said. This past week has seen a lot of different musicians speak out for and against the Presidential candidates and we respect everyone’s opinion. We’re tired of the anti-Muslim, hateful isht that some people keep throwin’ at Obama though. Source Images via WENN
Nic Cage re-teams with Con Air director Simon West ( Expendables 2 ) in Stolen , which is the most-est ’90s-est classic Nic Cage genre vehicle we’ve seen in a long time. (Yes, but is it very nouveau shamanic ?) The overly complicated plot involving a burned ex-partner and millions in stolen booty! The estranged daughter with an Anne Parillaud haircut! AND OH DEAR LORD IS THAT REALLY JOSH LUCAS OUT-NIC CAGING NIC CAGE? Sigh. It is . Your Friday Fun Time has arrived. Oh yeah, Malin Akerman is in this (and threatens to turn in the best acting in the cast). Two lingering thoughts: A. Is it just me, or does this voice-over narrator pronounce Nicolas Cage like a total weirdo (“Nicolas Ca-aaage”) at the 1:30 mark? B. JOSH LUCAS WTF!? I can’t even . If anyone needs me this weekend I’ll be watching Sweet Home Alabama on repeat wondering how things could go so wrong over the course of 10 years. Verdict : Folks, we’ve got to buy tickets and make this a hit so that poor Josh Lucas never has to go oily-skinned and straggly-haired again. EVER. Mmkay? Director Simon West and Nicolas Cage re-team for the first time since CON AIR for STOLEN, a fast paced action thriller set during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. WILL MONTGOMERY (Nicolas Cage) is a master thief who after being double-crossed in a heist gone awry is sent to prison for 8 years. Upon his release he’s ready to leave his criminal past behind and try to rebuild a relationship with his estranged daughter ALLISON. The FBI and his old cohorts believe that he hid the loot from the last heist 8 years ago, $10 Million in Bonds. To get his hands on it, his old partner VINCENT kidnaps Allison and demands the entire $ 10 Million as ransom. Keeping her in the soundproofed trunk of a Taxi Cab, he’s able to stay mobile amongst the throngs of taxis out during Mardi Gras day making it nearly impossible to find. Montgomery only has one day to get the $10 Million ransom but much to the disbelief of the FBI on his trail and Vincent, Will doesn’t actually have it. Instead, he must trust his instincts and his old partner in crime, the beautiful, sexy and smart RILEY, to do one more, clever heist to get his daughter back alive before it’s too late. As a dig at Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian appears in a new Kanye West music video just as her current boyfriend is slamming her estranged husband. Following events today in court, however, the reality star may need to come up with more overt ways to bash the heck out of this professional baller. Attorneys for both sides of this failed marriage – Laura Wasser for Kim and Marshall Waller for Kris – appeared before Judge Stephen Moloney in L.A. Superior Court. The goal? To essentially figure out why the heck a 72-day marriage with a prenuptial agreement is taking so long to legally destroy. The answer, according to Waller, is that he simply needs time to collect the evidence that will supposedly prove Kardashian defrauded his client into marriage. And Kardashian’s lawyer isn’t really helping him gather what he needs to. “I don’t want to use the word uncooperative, but they are not making the process easier,” Waller told the judge, adding that he plans to depose 33 witnesses and has so far been unsuccessful in obtaining Kris Jenner’s business records. He said it could take four more months to collect all the discovery he desires. Wasser, meanwhile, has no clue what to make of all this. She says Humphries actually sent a process server with a Nordstrom box to Kardashian’s home. Inside was a deposition request for West. “To say I am frustrated is an understatement,” said Wasser, who has claimed in the past that Humphries is simply dragging out this battle for PR purposes and plans on making him pay the $250,000-plus in legal fees that Kim has accrues so far. She had a simple question for the judge today: “To what end does he want this annulment?” It’s unclear, and it may remain that way for a very long time: Judge Moloney set the next court date at November 28 for a status conference..
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine says President Barack Obama somehow “staged” the recent Colorado shooting as part of a conspiracy to ban guns. Seriously. In comments that may put even Ted Nugent to shame, Dave suggested that Obama was behind the massacre perpetrated by James Holmes … and a lot more. At a Tuesday, August 7 performance in Singapore, Mustaine told the crowd, “Back in my country, my president … he’s trying to pass a gun ban.” “So he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border … Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there … and the beautiful people at the [Wisconsin Sikh temple].” The rocker continued, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.” One major hole in Mustaine’s “theory” (besides basic facts): Obama has not made any push for gun control in the wake of these tragedies. In any case, Mustaine is not a big Obama fan. He endorsed Rick Santorum for the GOP nomination this spring, and has been part of the “birther” crusade. In an interview with Alex Jones (below), Dave wondered why no one has tried to impeach Obama, “With all of the proof about his birth certificate being fake.” “And you see the signs in Kenya that say ‘the birthplace of Barack Obama.’ Hello?! C’mon, guys. How stupid are we right now?” A very good question, Dave. One that’s left us speechless.
Joe always going to keep it a hunnid Vice President Biden has never been one to bite his tongue when it comes to his political opponents, especially Mitt Romney and his VP nominee, Paul Ryan. Speaking at a campaign event in Virginia on Tuesday, Biden told the Obama supporters that they have more to fear than just an attack on the middle class if Romney is elected, and that their very freedom is at stake: “Look at their budget, and what they are proposing,” Biden said. “Romney wants to let–he said in the first hundred days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules. Unchain Wall Street.” Biden then paused, and said, “they going to put y’all back in chains.” Many GOP members were quick to react to Biden’s remarks, making a racial connection between the vice president’s “chains” comment and slavery. Biden was speaking to a largely black crowd in the heart of Danville,Virginia; a city with a long history of racial tension. Although his language may seem extreme to some, historically, working class people have been enslaved by corporations, and big business is something “Money Makin” Mitt is very familiar with. Do you think Biden’s statements were too extreme or is he right? Source
Vice President Joe Biden raised eyebrows at a Virginia campaign rally today when he said Mitt Romney and his economic ideas would “put y’all back in chains.” Of the Republican ticket and newly-minted VP nominee Paul Ryan ‘s budget plan, Biden said: “They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it.” “Look at what they value. Look at their budget and what they’re proposing. [Romney] said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules – unchain Wall Street … They’re going to put y’all back in chains.”
Kim Kardashian did something crazy this weekend. No, she didn’t tell her intern to stop posting on Twitter or Facebook. Nor did she spend time with Kanye West without first alerting the paparazzi to their whereabouts. Instead, the reality star – who has posed in a certain type of swimwear so often that we’ve dedicated an entire album to Kim Kardashian bikini photos – went strolling on the beach in… a two-piece! She published the look on Instagram, of course, because that’s just what she does. But this means readers can now compare the two styles and decide which is best on Kim:
Janna Ryan, the wife of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, has quickly and predictably been thrust into the national spotlight since her husband, a Wisconsin Congressman, was announced as the Republican nominee for Vice President by Mitt Romney. Here are a few things to know about the 43-year-old Janna: 1. Janna Ryan is 43, and married Paul in 2000. She is stay-at-home mom raising three young children in Wisconsin, Elizabeth, Charles and Samuel (above). 2. Ryan, whose maiden name was Little, grew up in Madill, Oklahoma. Both of her parents spent their careers as successful lawyers in private practice. A town in Oklahoma, Little City, is named after her family. Like her parents, Janna has a law degree, having graduated from George Washington in 1998. 3. Her family has strong political – and Democratic – connections; Her uncle, David Boren, served as a Democratic governor of Oklahoma and later as its U.S. senator. Boren’s son, Dan Boren, is Janna’s cousin and a member of House of Representatives. A Blue Dog Democrat, he has often voted across party lines. 4. Before marrying Paul, Janna was a Washington operative herself, forging an early professional career as a congressional aide and healthcare lobbyist. Friends describe her as being able to navigate between different worlds – from small-town Oklahoma, where she’s from, to prestigious Wellesley College and to D.C., where she is well-versed in complex policy debates. “She is very comfortable in and around politics. She grew up in a political family, and it comes very naturally to her,” said Leslie Belcher, a Washington lobbyist who worked on Capitol Hill with Ryan and was later one of Ryan’s bridesmaids. 5. Friends and Romney campaign officials say that while her exact role is unclear, she would undoubtedly be an asset to Romney-Ryan ticket. “I think she is very relatable,” said Missy Edwards, a lobbyist in D.C. who became friends with Ryan when they both worked on Capitol Hill. “She’s from a small town, (with) three young kids, smart, and focused on her family, first.” “They got married eyes wide open, knowing that they wanted to dedicate themselves to public service, and that meant that Janna wouldn’t work, and Paul would dedicate himself” to working in Congress, said Jodi Bond, a vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, who has been friends with the Ryans for decades.
