Flaming Lips Reveal Guests For World-Record Road Trip

During O Music Awards, ‘Jackass’ star Chris Pontius, Neon Trees and Jackson Browne will join the Lips as they try to land Guinness spot. By Brendan Dempsey Wayne Coyne of Flaming Lips Photo: It’s no secret that the Flaming Lips have their sights set on the Guinness World Record for most concerts performed in multiple cities in a 24-hour time period. The innovative rockers have just announced they will be joined by “Jackass” and “Wildboyz” star Chris Pontius, Jackson Browne, Neon Trees, Karmin and a slew of additional artists as they gun for the record, currently held by Jay-Z, who played seven shows from Atlanta to L.A. in 2006. The Flaming Lips and friends plan to play eight shows from Memphis, Tennessee, to New Orleans, beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET and continuing for 24 hours. The gigs will take place in conjunction with the O Music Awards, a 24-hour awards ceremony that will be broadcast on MTV, VH1 and CMT and livestream at Omusicawards.com. The Flaming Lips will jump aboard their aptly named bus, “Endeavor,” and travel to each new location just as the opening band is finishing its set. They’ll perform what promises to be a raucous and exciting mini-set before moving on to the next location. The O Music Awards ceremony will give out 24 awards, one for each hour of the festival. Categories that artists are vying to win include Must Follow Artist on Twitter, Best Online Concert Experience, Most Adorable Viral Star, Fan Army FTW, Best Music App and Digital Genius Award. “The O Music Awards are all about the celebrating the wonderfully messy and soulful spirit of music,” said Van Toffler, President of Viacom’s Music and Logo Group. “This insane bus brigade and the assorted collection of artists and pranksters that are taking part not only make me incredibly happy, but pretty much sum up what a good 24 hour binge should involve, minus the libations.” Along with the pomp and circumstance of winning awards, the first 12 installments of Stop/Watch will air during the concerts. Stop/Watch is a 60-second online music series in which artists have one minute flat to perform a complete song — with a countdown clock running! The first 12 Stop/Watch artists are: Joseph Arthur, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Citizen’s Band, John Forte, the Hives, Rhett Miller, Miracles of Modern Science, Peasant, Punch Brothers, Saint Motel, P.T. Walkley and the Wombats. Tickets to all of the O Music Awards shows can be purchased here. You can also catch the show live on your smart phone through the mobile web or the MTV News app. Here’s the full lineup of shows:

GTFOH!!!! Virginia Man Sues Kanye West & Kim Kardashian For Being Terrorists And Funding Al-Qaeda With Air Yeezy Money

What in the entire f***?!??! Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are being sued by the wackjob who holds the Guinness book of world records as the most litigious man in the world. Jonathan Lee Riches filed the lawsuit in Northern District of West Virginia on June 21 citing that he stumbled upon a secret Al-Qaeda terrorist meeting where he saw Kim, Kanye, Kris Jenner, Bruce Jenner, Khloe and Kourtney. Riches has stated that he discovered all of the defendants at an Al-Qaeda secret training camp in West Virginia on June 17 where they were allegedly pleading their allegiance to the organization, burning the U.S. flag and stomping on pictures of President Barack Obama. Now we don’t buy all that but the lawsuit is definitely legit. We were able to get the actual copy of the suit itself. The suit gets into details which includes Kanye West selling Air Yeezy 2′s to fund Al-Qaeda. Check out the official copies of the lawsuit below. This has to be the ultimate troll! While Kanye might like to dress up like a Jihadi couture ninja in his videos and Kim may hold weapons of mass destruction in her pants, we heavily doubt these two have teamed up with Al-Qaeda. However, we have a feeling they are still planning total world domination. Source

Guilty As Fawk! Jury Convicts Jerry Sandusky On 45 Of 48 Sexual Abuse Charges

GUILTY! “Peen State” Coach Jerry Sandusky will likely rot to death in a jail cell, if he isn’t torn to pieces by his fellow inmates first. Jerry Sandusky Guilty Of 45 Out Of 48 Sexual Abuse Charges After more than 20 hours of deliberation, the jury of seven women and five men returned the verdict Friday night. Sandusky was convicted of 45 of 48 counts charging him with abusing 10 boys over 15 years. Jury deliberations began Thursday. When sentenced, Sandusky could face spending the rest of his life in prison. He was taken into custody in handcuffs after the verdict was read and his bail was revoked. The case enveloped the Penn State campus in a national scandal and led to the ouster of iconic head football Coach Joe Paterno as well as university President Graham Spanier for failing to deal forcefully with reports that Sandusky had abused boys, sometimes in the showers at the school’s football facility. Paterno died in January of lung cancer. Two other university officials are charged with failing to report the suspected abuse and with perjury related to their testimony before a grand jury investigating the scandal. The officials — athletic director Tim Curley, who is on leave, and retired Vice President Gary Schultz — await trial. The prosecution took slightly more than four days to present 21 witnesses to support its claim that Sandusky was a predatory pedophile who found his victims through a charity, the Second Mile, that he founded for at-risk children. Eight of the accusers testified, most in graphic and sometimes tearful detail about their relationships with Sandusky. Most said they enjoyed gifts and special attention from Sandusky. Some said they saw him as the father they never had. But what began as a mentoring relationship escalated into the physical abuse, the accusers testified. Some said they were assaulted in the basement of the Sandusky home. Others described soapy showers that included forced sex acts. The identities of two of the boys have never been ascertained; in those cases, two adults testified that they had witnessed abuse involving the unidentified boys. Mike McQueary — a graduate assistant and former Penn State football player, who became a coach in his own right at the university — emerged as a key prosecution witness. McQueary told of the winter night in 2001 when he entered the university’s football facility and saw Sandusky with a naked boy, 10 or 12 years old, in the locker room showers. He described hearing the sounds of a sex act. McQueary said he slammed his locker door to let Sandusky know someone else was in the room. Later, he called his father, who told him to go to Paterno, who in turn went to his superiors. It wasn’t until later investigations that the state brought the child abuse charges against Sandusky. The charges came in two waves last year. The defense had fought hard to keep the trial in Bellefonte in the hope that Sandusky’s humanitarian and athletic reputation would help the case. More than half of the jurors said during the selection process that they had some connection to the university, as an employee, alumnus or just an avid football fan. Sandusky’s attorneys presented his case in about three days, calling friends, neighbors and former sports colleagues to the stand. Led by Sandusky’s 69-year-old wife, Dottie, the character witnesses all insisted that they never saw Sandusky engage in any improper action with a young boy and that he was a good man. The defense also questioned the quality of the investigations and why some of the witness accounts changed with the retelling of events over the years. The implications were that police had used their questioning to make the case look better, and that the accusers worked together to make their descriptions more graphic to help their expected future civil cases. Lastly, the defense argued that Sandusky suffered from histrionic personality disorder, a condition that includes overly dramatic gestures that can be seen as seductive. The defense argued that the condition explained why Sandusky gave the boys gifts and in one case sent a love note to a child. The prosecution countered that the gifts were intended to groom prospective victims. The verdict does not mark the end of litigation. In addition to the criminal charges pending against the two college administrators, a slew of civil suits are expected by accusers. Did anyone have any doubts he would be convicted? SMH. Nasty piece of isht. Here’s a real question for discussion, is life behind bars even enough of a punishment for a man who has destroyed so many innocent lives??? ‘Brave’: The Reviews Are In!

Pixar’s first female-driven adventure leaves many satisfied, but doesn’t quite meet the studio’s storied standards, according to the critics. By Josh Wigler Merida in “Brave” Photo: Between “The Hunger Games” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” 2012 is rapidly becoming the year of the archer — and another bow-wielder joins the fray this weekend in “Brave,” Pixar’s latest effort and first feature film led by a female protagonist. “Boardwalk Empire” actress Kelly Macdonald supplies the voice of Merida, a princess who does everything possible to resist her fate in a male-driven medieval society. She does not want to be married off to some noble she doesn’t care about; she wants to pursue her own path, living freely with her treasured bow and arrow at her side. But circumstances eventually change for Merida, leading her down a path that even she couldn’t have envisioned for herself. By many accounts, “Brave” continues Pixar’s trend of highly regarded flicks that please both adults and children alike — but not by all accounts. Some critics believe “Brave” doesn’t quite meet Pixar’s storied standards, resulting in a film that falls short of its potential. Keep reading for a selection of reviews for “Brave,” opening in theaters nationwide Friday (June 22). The Story “A strong-willed lass, Merida exasperates her mother, Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), with her pronounced lack of interest in daintiness, needlework, gentleman callers, and all other forms of stereotypical feminine activity. She charms her burly, good, but somewhat galumphy father, King Fergus (Billy Connolly, who else?), for the same reason. (She’s also a role model for her tiny triplet brothers, spunky mischief-makers with their own heads of matching ginger squiggles.) Merida’s passion is for the archery at which she excels — she loves loves loves the thrill of it. Still, as Mama continues to push her daughter toward betrothal to a suitable lord for the good of the kingdom, Merida pushes back, hard, until in her rebellion she finds a witch (Julie Walters) who can cast a spell to change her woeful female fate.” — Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly Power of the Princess “In addition to being fast, funny, and unpretentious, ‘Brave’ is a happy antidote to all the recent films in which women triumph by besting men at their own macho games, as if the history of male dominance is one of patriarchs suppressing females’ essential warlike nature. Merida wants nothing more than to control her own fate, her rage provoked by the refusal of her mother— — for whom duty and subservience are paramount — to see the world through her eyes. Why surrender her will to silly, drunken, endlessly combative men when there’s so much to see and do? Her boo-boo at least has the effect of giving her and her mother a common cause, which is certainly a more direct route to mutual understanding than tens of thousands of dollars of therapy.” — David Edelstein, New York The “Brave” Look “Many aspects of ‘Brave’ remind us, at a glance, why Pixar rules the American animation game. Production designer Steve Pilcher’s landscapes are nearly photo-realistic, but with a welcome touch of poetry; likewise, the director of photography for lighting, Danielle Feinberg, pours on the golden sunlight (and when it hits that red hair of Merida’s — wow!) but pays close attention to the shadows and the rough-hewn menace of Merida’s quest.” — Michael Phillips, The Chicago Tribune An All-Too-Familiar Tale “The good news is that the kids will probably love it, and the bad news is that parents will be disappointed if they’re hoping for another Pixar groundbreaker. Unlike such brightly original films as ‘Toy Story,’ ‘Finding Nemo,’ ‘WALL-E’ and ‘Up,’ this one finds Pixar poaching on traditional territory of Disney, its corporate partner. We get a spunky princess; her mum, the queen; her dad, the gruff king; an old witch who lives in the woods, and so on.” — Roger Ebert, The Chicago Sun-Times The Final Word ” ‘Brave’ is gorgeous to look at — as usual, the 3D accentuates without being overbearing, and there are moments that offer some of the most photorealistic tableaux I’ve ever seen in an animated film — and features a strong script that avoids the third-act pitfalls that have plagued previous Pixar projects. Whether you’re a fan of great animation, or just jonesing for another arrow-slinging heroine until the next ‘Hunger Games’ sequel comes out, brave the crowds for this one.” — Alonso Duradle, The Wrap Will you be seeing “Brave” this weekend? Out Of Pocket: Racist GOP Radio Host Calls Barack Obama “The First Monkey President”

SMH: Arizona Republican radio host Barbara Espinosa not only exhibits her racism for all to hear, but then when challenged on her admission that she refers to President Obama as the “first monkey president,” she doubled down by quoting the definition of ”monkey” and then claimed she couldn’t be racist with the last name Espinoza. On her radio show, “Hair on Fire,” Barbara was taking a call from a listener who referred to Obama as a communist and the one with “rabbit ears,” when she decided to elaborate on the caller’s depiction of the president and offer her own racist view. This host proudly proclaims, “I voted for the white guy, myself.” Source

Cry Me A River: GOP Wanksters Call For Boycott Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ For Putting Dubya’s Head On A Stake

Yet another reason for us to love this show! “Game Of Thrones” Under Fire For Using George Bush’s Head On Stake In Scene HBO has apologized for using a model head of former President George W. Bush in a grisly decapitation scene for its hit drama “Game of Thrones.” The tenth episode of the first season of “Game of Thrones,” now out on DVD, features the younger Bush’s head on a stake. Commentary on the DVD notes that his head appears in a “couple of beheading scenes.” The show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated that George W. Bush’s was used as physical inspiration to create a head for a scene in which King Joffrey shows Sansa Stark her deceased father’s head on a stick. “It’s not a choice, not a political statement!” one of the writers insisted during the DVD commentary. “We just had to use what heads we had around.” HBO did not respond to FOXNews.com’s request for comment, but as outrage mounted Wednesday, the network released a statement saying they were “deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste.” HBO also said the scene would be removed from future DVD pressings. The producers also attempted to explain the incident. “We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can’t afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk,” their statement read. “After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush. In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise.” Faux News is also reporting that some Tweeps want to boycott the network over this… SMH. We can see how they had to apologize and delete the scene, but you gotta admit it’s kinda funny riiiiight? Source
