Just hours after the President-Elect went on one of his typical Twitter storms – slamming Schwarzenegger as a has-been due to the poor ratings for this week’s Celebrity Apprentice premiere – the ex-movie star has fired back. Hard. The NBC reality show returned on Monday night to 4.9 million total viewers, along with a 1.3 rating in the key demographic of adults 18-49. The previous season premiere, which was hosted by Trump and aired back in January 2015, garnered 6.8 million viewers and earned a 2.4 in this same under age category. That’s a pretty huge dropoff. And it’s one The Donald took pointed notice of on social media. “Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got ‘swamped’ (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT,” Trump tweeted on Friday, morning. Added the impending President of the United States: “So much for being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14. Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.” In this case, at least, we have to give Trump credit: He got his numbers right. This rarely happens when it comes to Trump on Twitter . Schwarzenegger, the former Republican Governor of California, has never been one to back down from a fight, however. So he quickly jumped on social media and took Trump down with a couple piece of advice. “There’s nothing more important that the people’s work, @realDonaldTrump,. “I wish you the best of luck and I hope you’ll work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.” Damn! Shots fired! And Schwarzenegger wasn’t finished, either. “Please study this quote from [Abraham] Lincoln’s inaugural, @realDonald Trump,” he wrote. “It inspired me every day I was Governor, and I hope it inspires you.” Schwarzenegger then went ahead and read the quote in a video. This is what it says: We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature. Without doubt, these profound, helpful words will turn Trump around and he’ll focus entirely on governing the country, sympathizing with all Americans and doing everything he can actually make this country better. Darn. We almost did it. We almost wrote that entire paragraph with a straight face. It’s worth noting that Trump is an executive producer on The Apprentice. This is ridiculous, yet it’s true. It means he actually makes money if you watch the show, which could explain why he’s so bitter over these terrible ratings. The guy is clearly in need of money. A lot of money. He may owe Russia hundreds of millions of dollars. Expect Vladimir Putin to hack into the NBC ratings database any day now.
As previously noted, Donald Trump has failed to attract any big names to perform at his Presidential inauguration on January 20. He claims A-Listers want to appear at the event, but he’s been turning down their requests because they did “NOTHING” for Hillary Clinton are are not “real PEOPLE.” Trump has managed to secure Jackie Evancho for the inauguration, however, giving a major platform to the former America’s Got Talent runner-up and significantly increasing the Google search frequency of the following question: Who the heck is Jackie Evancho?!? She’s someone who is on the rise, Trump claims. She’s a singer with a bright future whose decision to make herself front and center for The Donald’s big day this month is paying off, Trump argues. Bigly, he seems to think. On Wednesday night, Trump once again focused on something very important via his Twitter account, touting Evancho’s impressive album sales ever since she announced her inauguration participation. “Jackie Evancho’s album sales have skyrocketed after announcing her Inauguration performance,” the President-Elect wrote, adding: “Some people just don’t understand the “Movement.” We guess not. But other people just don’t understand basic math. Which could maybe be forgiven or ignored if one of these people was not going to become the 45th President of the United States in just a few weeks. Because Jackie Evancho’s album sales have not skyrocketed. They’ve done the complete opposite of skyrocket. They’ve plummeted. In bigly fashion. To be specific, Evancho has fallen 41 spots on the Billboard 200 in just a week: Now, we don’t mean to heap criticism on a 16-year old or to highlight her failure. Really, we don’t. We can understand the bind she was in, unsure how to propel her career to the next level and figuring that a prominent spot at a Presidential inauguration was too tempting to pass up. That’s fine. We get it. And it’s far more disturbing to the safety of the United States when Trump is lying about Russian hacking and CIA intelligence briefings than when he’s lying about the success or failure of a particular artist. But still. Come on! Is Trump unaware that Billboard and other outlets actually track album sales? That this was such a ridiculously blatant misleading of the public because it was so easy to fact-check? We’ve spent far too long trying to get inside Donald Trump’s brain already here, haven’t we? At this point, it should be clear that anyone trying to make sense out of anything Trump does is wasting is or her time. As actual successful singer Bruce Springsteen recently said , we should be spending far more time being afraid of what Trump may do and take whatever steps we can to prevent it. Call your Congressman. Attend a rally. Get out and vote in the mid-term elections next year. Reporters, slam Trump as a liar every single time he lies. And Jackie Evancho? Just keep your head down and sing your heart out. We feel for you. But this is not going to help your career, no matter what Trump seems to believe. Megyn Kelly is no longer the female face of Fox News. In a move that caught many viewers by surprise, the long-time reporter decided on Tuesday to sign a contract with NBC . She will debut on that network later this year, anchoring her very own program Monday through Friday; hosting a Sunday evening series; and also contributing in general to NBC political coverage and any kind of breaking news. Reports indicate that an offer of $20 million per year from Fox News was not enough to entice Kelly to stay. Is this really all that shocking, considering Kelly claims former Fox News Corp. Chairman Roger Ailes sexually harassed her on numerous occasions shortly after she was hired a decade ago? And also considering the fact that Kelly clearly has no respect for Sean Hannity ? And also considering that Kelly is not a very big fan of Donald Trump, the impending President of the United States who will have the full support of Fox News and its unfair and non-balanced reporters? It really shouldn’t be. In fact, this move should have been an obvious one to see coming. But still. We understand the idea of Megyn Kelly appearing on any network other than Fox is jarring. And Kelly clearly understands this as well. That’s why she has issued a lengthy Facebook post in response to her decision going public. “Over a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life,” she wrote this afternoon, continung: “Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I’ve had. I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program. “I will also participate in NBC’s breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage.” Concluded the 46-year old: “While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge. “I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters. “More to come soon. … Happy New Year, and God bless.” Megyn Kelly Throws Shade at Roger Ailes In announcing the hiring of Kelly, Andrew Lack, chairman of NBC News, said the following: “Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career. She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.” And while Kelly’s contract at Fox runs through this summer, it sounds as though she’ll be let out of it early. We still aren’t sure when she’ll first appear on NBC, but Fox News has announced she will only anchor The Kelly File through Friday, January 6. Added Rupert Murdoch, the executive chairman of 21st Century Fox: “We thank Megyn Kelly for her 12 years of contributions to FOX News. We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family all the best.” Megyn Kelly Cracks Up Over Donald Trump Kelly has hinted at not just a move away from Fox for some time, but a move away from primetime. Hosting a daytime show will allow her to spend more time with her children – Edward, 7, Yardley, 5, and Thatcher, 3 – whom she shares with husband Douglas Brunt.
