Earlier this week, we reported that actress Emma Watson was being threatened with a nude photo leak as a result of a speech she recently gave at the United Nations. The threats were posted on the photo-sharing site 4Chan, which had previously hosted stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence , as well as the dozens of other female celebrities who were affected by the Hollywood hacking scandal. Today, we learned that the whole thing was a carefully coordinated stunt by a company called Rantic Marketing. The website EmmaYouAreNext.com – which had previously featured a clock counting down the seconds until Watson’s hacked photos would be posted online – now simply redirects to Rantic’s homepage. Even more ridiculous than the capaign itself is Rantic’s strategy for justifying its actions: Currently (and hilariously), the company’s site features a letter addressed to President Obama that begins, “We have been hired by celebrity publicists to help bring this disgusting issue to attention…Every Facebook like, share, and Twitter mention will count as a social signature.” Wow! Now you can get involved and all you have to do is help promote this incredibly shady marketing firm! Naturally, Rantic is refusing to identify their “employers,” but they’ve been happy to share statistics about how easily they were able to drum up interest in stolen nudity. Apparently, EmmaYouAreNext.com received over 48 million visitors in just a matter of days, so you may want to consider hiring Rantic next time you have a young feminist to terrorize. Rantic has yet to make make an argument as to how anyone but them stood to benefit from this stunt, but we’re sure to position themselves as the good guys. As far as we can tell, all they’ve accomplished is establishing “It was a hoax! Gotcha!” as a viable excuse for anyone threatening to post hacked photos of a celebrity. For E!, the show must go on. Two weeks after the death of Joan Rivers , the network announced on Friday that Fashion Police will return to the air without its beloved late star. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms,” E! said via statement, continuing: “We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of Fashion Police. We decided, with Melissa Rivers’ blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. “Fashion Police will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, Jan. 12. No further details will be announced at this time.” The weekly celebrity style roundup, we presume, will still be co-hosted by Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos. Earlier this week, Rancic had said she was uncertain about the show’s future and that E! was “looking at different scenarios.” On Friday evening, meanwhile, E! aired a 90-minute a “Fashion Police: Celebrating Joan” special. Unfortunately for him, he was probably better served keeping his day-late-and-dollar-short mouth closed. Here was his first off-base offering: Shut up, stupid. SHUT UP, STUPID! Bruh…smh Paul’s overseer, NBA legend and Pacers’ President, Larry Bird, immediately released a statement chastising Paul’s tweets and distancing himself and Pacers from his ignorance. “Paul George’s tweets from earlier were thoughtless and without regard to the subject of domestic violence and its seriousness in society. We have talked to Paul to strongly express our displeasure and made it clear that the NBA and the Pacers’ organization will not condone or tolerate remarks of this nature. For over a week a now. protests in Ferguson, Missouri over the death of Michael Brown have been making international headlines. Yesterday, President Obama issued a statement on the situation that somehow seemed to further enrage both sides of the conflict, and as the video below demonstrates, after 11 days of protests, tensions may be running higher than ever: Ferguson Police Officer Threatens Civilian The clip clearly shows a police officer pointing a rifle at a non-violent protestor and shouting, “I’ll f–king kill you.” The civilian asks to the officer’s name only to be told, “Go f–k yourself.” Thankfully, another officer was able defuse the situation before it became violent. The video – shot by an unknown protestor and uploaded to YouTube earlier today – is just the latest indication that there will be no easy resolution to the unrest in Ferguson, and the ordeal will likely continue to have national ramifications. Darren Wilson has been identified as the officer who shot Brown , but it is not yet known what sort of punishment he’ll receive. National debates on the incident were re-ignited yesterday, when surveillance footage of Brown that shows the 18-year-old stealing cigars from a convenient store was released online. The theft of the cigars resulted in the shooting death of Brown, and both supporters and critics of the Ferguson police Department have claimed that the video supports their position.
