In late December, Robin Roberts posted a Facebook message that expressed gratitude to all that have helped her through a difficult period in her life, one that included a bone marrow transplant to treat a rare blood disorder. The Good Morning America anchor also referenced girlfriend Amber Laign for the first time publicly in the post, coming out as gay. Today, meanwhile, the anchor shared a photo of herself and her long-time partner at a wedding in Louisiana over the holidays. Said Roberts on air: “Next to me is my girlfriend, Amber, and my sister-in-law, Cynthia, and my brother, Butch. And it was a glorious, glorious time that weekend.” Co-anchor George Stephanopoulos then noted that everyone looks “so happy,” asking Robin whether sharing such personal information with the world has been a “good experience.” And a beaming Roberts made it clear the answer is a profound YES. “I have never been happier and healthier than I am right now,” she said. “And my year-end post was just full of gratitude and just telling everyone all that I’m grateful for, including my girlfriend Amber, who really loved me through a difficult year.” Roberts and Laign – who works as a a licensed massage therapist – have been together for 10 years.
Troian Bellisario is featured in the new issue of Seventeen. But this isn’t a cover story that touches on fashion or sex secrets or even reveals very much at all about Pretty Little Liars Season 4 , which gets back underway tomorrow night on ABC Family. Instead, Bellisario talks openly for the first time about a very challenging and difficult past. “I started self-harming when I was a junior,” the actress says simply. “I would withhold food or withhold going out with my friends, based on how well I did that day in school.” Following her stint in rehab, Demi Lovato also admitted that she was an avid cutter during her most troublesome days. Bellisario explains that she “didn’t know what was right and what was wrong” in high school, she “created this bizarre system of checks and balances to create order in my world. But it really backfired.” The young star said she had a compulsion to be “perfect” and feared her parents would “disown” her if she ever expressed any sort of sadness or anger. “I kept a lot of it bottled up inside, and it turned into self-destructive behavior,” she tells the magazine. Last month, meanwhile, Ashley Benson actually slammed her own show’s new promotional poster because it was clearly Photoshopped and she thought that sent a bad message to fans. It’s a sentiment shared by Bellisario. “I’ve heard fans say that I’m perfect on the show and I want to tell them I’ve been through two hours of hair and makeup. Don’t hold yourself up to that!” Through all her struggles, though, Troian knows how fortunate she now is. “Whenever I get down, when I want to crawl under a rock, I just look around at them and I see how rich my life is,” she says. “You have to remember what’s most important in life. I am loved by so many people and have a wonderful job. I know I’m incredibly blessed. I am a completely lucky human being.” Bravo, Bellisario. The Real Housewives of New Jersey heads back to the Teresa and Jacqueline summit as the “Children of the Scorned” try to patch up their friendship. We recap the tattered remains in our THG +/- review. After last week where Teresa called Jacqueline evil and Jac shot back with calling Tre a sociopath, I was expecting more from this summit meaning. Minus 15 because instead of a cat fight it was a giant snooze fest. I don’t think anyone really owned up to anything from the past, they just decided to move on. How long will it be before it all falls apart once again? The worst part was having to hear Joe Guidice talk about autism once again. Minus 12 because the ignorant meter was spiking off the charts. But then again, if we kept Joe to speaking about subjects he actually understood, it wouldn’t give him much air time. The Jerseyans seemed to be trying to make amends all over. Joe Gorga picked up Gia for a play date. Did anyone else notice how Teresa’s kids were climbing the two story foyer like a bunch of monkeys and her only concern was for the chandelier? Minus 10 . But Gia appeared to be the most mature person in the Guidice / Gorga clan as she told her uncle exactly what she thought of him and his tirade at the christening. Plus 30 for not sugar coating it. It’s sad that Joe doesn’t even remember Gia being in the room and the kid was between he and Teresa trying to drag her mother out of the fray. Back to the present, plus 20 to Teresa for her Zumba charity day to help The Nephcure Foundation and another plus 20 for everyone who came out and joined it. Two weeks ago, could anyone have guessed that the brawling Joes would be dancing and laughing on the Zumba floor? And as they all tried to get alone, a big plus 33 for all of the old pictures of happier times. How can anyone not laugh at giant Jersey ’80s hair? Of course some things about this family will never change. Joe Guidice asked Melissa Gorga to dance on the pole in the bus and Milania started swinging around pretending to be her aunt. Apparently the ex-stripper rumors were still alive and well in the Guidice household. At least they all seemed to be having more fun than the Manzo boys who were still trying to sell blk. Minus 13 because who in their right mind would want to drink water that looks like it came out of a sewage pipe? The worst was listening to Christopher fantasize about how he’ll cheat on his future wife. Minus 22. Have we ever even seen him with a girl, never mind in any sort of serious relationship? Their buddy Greg is heading off to San Francisco and Christopher admits he doesn’t think he’d ever have the guts to leave Jersey. Plus 8 for honesty. Jacqueline was the biggest surprise of the night as she flew out to Beverly Hills for a tummy tuck and a neck lift.. Seeing her pieces of fat and skin sitting on the surgical tray were kind of gross but plus 12 for getting rid of that crappy tattoo. Plus 35 to Ashlee who moved to California and actually grew the F-up! I never saw that coming but it looks like getting away from Mom was the best thing that could have happened to her. She even told Jacqueline when it was time to put down the shot glass. Go figure. So will you be tuning in next week to see the new and improved Jacqueline? Episode total = +86! Season total = -315!
The winners are in for the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. Pitch Perfect won for favorite movie comedy, and the film’s co-stars Rebel Wilson and Skylar Astin won for choice actress and actor in a comedy. Wilson accepted her award while wearing a wetsuit. On the TV side, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars carried out similar sweeps, while Lea Michele made her first public appearance since Cory Monteith’s death. Her tearful tribute on stage was a highlight of the night. Other winners included Selena Gomez, Gabby Douglas, Jim Parsons, Bruno Mars, Sandra Bullock, Justin Bieber, The X Factor and One Direction. I don’t think this is a real “Assault” video, but it is pretty funny. The story is that a girl got shot in the back, the news reporters go interview the mother, the mother loses her shit, starts throwing rocks, and unleashes her dogs on the reporter….. Now you may be wondering why I am posting this video, watch the reporter being chased by dogs. It’s classic. The new Gangnam Style.
Shay Mitchell is some twat on some TV show that I’ve never seen called Pretty Little Liars, that I am sure fucking sucks, but since it is on TV, has a huge fan base of idiots, or tweens who just like what is fed to them, even though it actually sucks. She’s Canadian / Filipino, but unlike most Canadian/ Filipino’s I know, she don’t clean the house for 300 dollars a week for rich people. She doesn’t have kids boss her around and call her a bitch and say things like “You’re not my mother, you work for me, now clean this mess up, bitch”…because this Shay Mitchell is the brat in the situation, thanks to landing TV stardom…. All this to say, I’d do her.
