Angelina Jolie is one step closer to another helping of Salt as Columbia Pictures hits the negotiating table with Seven Years in Tibet writer Becky Johnston. Naturally with the 2010 original grossing $293.5 million, including $118,311,368 in the U.S., the studio has incentive to get a Salt 2 underway, especially with its irreplaceable star, Angelina Jolie, threatening retirement in the not-too-distant future . Columbia hired the first Salt ‘s writer Krut Wimmer to write the sequel, but Jolie had apparently scoffed at the script and had not committed to a re-do, according to THR . The studio searched for a replacement who could re-style the story that will satisfy all involved. Johnston’s other credits include The Prince of Tides (1991) as well as Wonder Woman and Brad Bird’s San Francisco earthquake story, 1906 . Johnston’s participation will be a departure from her previous work, though there’s at least one connection. Seven Years in Tibet , released 15 years ago, starred Jolie’s future partner, Brad Pitt. Kimora Lee Simmons, the President of JustFab, is officially separated from her man of 5 1/2 years, act Djimon Hounsou. Hounsou’s rep confirmed the split to People magazine . The pair was married in West Africa in 2008, before Kimora was legally divorced from mogul ex husband Russell Simmons. Despite that ceremony, the two never got a marriage license in the United States. Kimora and Djimon have a 3 year old son together named Kenzo Lee. Kimora has two daughters Ming 12, and Aoki 10, from her previous marriage.
Couple Accused Of Starving Adopted Son And Only Giving Him Liquids Today in aint isht parents news… via Fox News A Minnesota couple are accused of starving their 8-year-old adopted son, feeding him only liquid and putting an alarm on his door so he would not steal food, according to criminal charges that say the boy was so malnourished his bones protruded and he weighed as much as a child half his age. Mona Hauer and Russell Hauer of North Mankato each are charged with six felonies, including neglect and malicious punishment of a child. In addition to starving the boy, authorities said, they beat him with a broom handle and made him sleep in a sled in the basement because he wet the bed. Hopefully these scumbags get what’s coming to them and this poor child finds a better home.

The Martha Marcy May Marlene camp notches another chilling character study in the AFI Fest selection Simon Killer , an unsettling look at a young American’s dark descent in Paris directed by Borderline Films ‘ Antonio Campos ( Afterschool ). Glimpse what lies in store with the film’s hauntingly gorgeous, Kubrickian poster design, exclusively on Movieline. Brady Corbet stars as Simon, a college grad traveling abroad who meets a Parisian prostitute (Mati Diop) and takes up with her, entrenching himself in her life in the shadowy streets of the Pigalle. Entrancing and provocative, Simon Killer constructs a sensory cinematic study around Simon’s psyche as he’s revealed to be more complex, and more dangerous, than what he seems. Eat your heart out, Strasberg: Actor Sam Worthington ( Avatar , Clash of the Titans ), in Atlanta filming Ten with Arnold Schwarzenegger , was pepper-sprayed by a doorman after allegedly becoming disruptive on Saturday, then was handcuffed and arrested for disorderly conduct — and still managed to remain in character! Kinda . Per TMZ : Cops say the “Avatar” star was at Vortex, a restaurant in Atlanta, when he was refused entrance because people at the door felt he was too intoxicated … this after he got into an argument because he didn’t have the ID required to get inside the club. According to the police report, a witness told cops Worthington became disorderly. He allegedly pushed the doorman twice and the doorman responded by pepper spraying him and putting him in cuffs until the cops arrived. And then… AND THEN (!): The bouncer — Jerry Link — tells TMZ, he maced Worthington when the actor went belligerent outside the bar … and Worthington screamed, “I’m a DEA agent! You f**ked up now!” For what it’s worth, the charge against Worthington was dropped. Worthington stars opposite Schwarzenegger, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard, Joe Mangianello, and more in the David Ayer -directed Ten , about a team of DEA agents whose members are slowly offed after stealing millions from a cartel house. Fallout from Hurricane Sandy may have kept some crowds away from theaters over the weekend, but that did not stop Disney animated feature Wreck-It Ralph from packing a wallop at the box office. Box office in the top 12 headed northward to $124.6 million, 20 per cent higher than the previous week. 1. Wreck-It Ralph Gross: $49,038,712 Screens: 3,752 (PSA: $13,070) Week: 1 The Disney animation had a terrific bow, cashing in on great reviews and a solid marketing campaign. The feature also made $12 million internationally, making the title Disney’s top animated pic The $49 million plus domestic total compares to $40.1 million for Chicken Little in 2005. The opening compares to Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted , which brought in over $60 million when it opened in June. But Ralph helped bring up an overall box office which eclipsed the previous weekend. 2. Flight Gross: $24,900,566 Screens: 1,884 (PSA: $13,217) Week: 1 Flight cruised with strong results in its opening weekend, even edging out the weekend’s number one box office winner, Wreck-It Ralph in terms of per screen average. The results were stronger than expected and shows Denzel Washington, who is tipped to be a force this Awards Season due to his performance, is an audience draw. This is Washington’s fifth best debut. 3. Argo Gross: $10,209,103 (Cume: $75,860,240) Screens: 2,774 (PSA: $3,680) Week: 4 (Change: – 16%) The Ben Affleck-directed feature in which he also stars is continuing to show very solid momentum now one month into its theatrical life. Word-of-mouth is propelling the feature’s box office prowess and it will likely hit the $100 million mark in the next few weeks. 4. The Man With the Iron Fists Gross: $7,910,980 Screens: 1,868 (PSA: $4,235) Week: 1 The gross is in line with what was expected, but it’s still a bit of a downer. It should reach a lucrative overseas market. 5. Taken 2 Gross: $5,919,493 (Cume: $125,586,929) Screens: 2,639 (PSA: $2,243) Week: 5 (Change: – 23%) The film dropped 356 theaters in its fifth weekend, though it actually managed to climb the chart one notch compared to the previous weekend. Its 23% drop is also a sign of momentum and it should top out at $145 million.
Octomom Nadya Suleman is off the hook after an investigation into claims of child neglect and sexual abuse by former nannies, according to reports. The Orange County D.A.s Office will not press charges. Prosecutors looked at the case after La Habra, Calif., police submitted it, but determined ” insufficient evidence to prove anyone has committed a crime.” The identities of Suleman’s accusers were not released, nor were many details as to what exactly Suleman was accused of doing, or not doing in this case. Allegedly, two nannies told reporters they saw one of Nadya’s kids sexually abusing his younger sibling(s) and that they believed the kids “were in danger.” Octomom’s manager, meanwhile, vehemently denied the charges. “Her [sic] and the other woman claiming to be a nanny are good friends with each other and are trying to make money,” the rep said of the “false” allegations. “This is why Nadya chose to move far away [from La Habra].” She did recently get a new house, far away in the L.A. ‘burbs. Amazingly, someone agreed to lease a property to Nadya Suleman and her brood. Gotta give her credit for working hard lately, though. Actor and TV host Gary Collins has died of natural causes. He was 74 years old. He passed away just before 1 a.m. Saturday in Biloxi, Miss., according to reports. In addition to leading roles in three TV series, Collins appeared on hit shows such as Perry Mason , The Six Million Dollar Man , The Love Boat and Charlie’s Angels . He went on to host Hour Magazine – for which he won an Emmy – and The Home Show . Collins also hosted the Miss America Pageant from 1982-1990. Collins married Miss America Mary Ann Mobley in 1967. They separated in 2011 and have one daughter together. He has two other children from his previous marriage. R.I.P. to one of the greats.
