My name is Tuesday and I am a 14 year old belieber from…

My name is Tuesday and I am a 14 year old belieber from Kingston, Ontario. Ever since 2009 I wanted to meet Justin. I tried my hardest and it never happened. Then for my 14th birthday, I got meet and greet tickets and that moment I burst into tears. I cried for hours, I was so excited. I brought my friend Emma with me and I was so nervous. When we arrived to the venue I had so many butterflies, it was incredible. When we walked through the black curtains, he was standing there in overalls – yes, that was the day he met the Prime Minister. I turned bright red. He looked at me, smiled and my heart started beating faster. We took the picture and then before we left, I was thinking about whether I was ever going to see him again, and I knew that it was highly unlikely, I looked up into his big brown eyes and asked him for a kiss on the cheek. Unfortunately, he couldn’t kiss anyone, so I smiled and thanked him and walked out. For the next two hours I was crying on and off. When the concert started I was in heaven, in a dream, he is truly amazing live. When “Fall” came on, my favourite song, I was crying and a sense a proudness went through me. Justin has worked his butt off to get to this position and without us, he wouldn’t be here. On Friday, November 23rd, 2012 at 5:32 pm I met Justin Drew Bieber and I can truly say it changed my life. Cyber Monday Deals 2012: Biggest Shopping Day EVER!!!!

Today is Cyber Monday. Or as those under 35 who shop online all the time anyway call it, Monday. The term Cyber Monday was coined in 2005 by a trade group that noticed online sales spiked the Monday following Thanksgiving, kicking off the holiday season. Silly as the term seems in 2012, the trend is no joke. It’s estimated that this year’s Cyber Monday will be the biggest online shopping day of the year, and in recorded retail history, for the third year in a row. In the next month alone, many businesses can make up to 40 percent of their annual revenue. How well retailers fare on Cyber Monday is also significant in that it offers insight into Americans’ evolving habits during the holiday shopping season . With the growth in high speed Internet access and the wide use of smartphones and tablets, people are more enabled to shop online now than ever before. That also means that the shopping could be less dependent on the use of work computers, so it will be interesting to see if today falls short of expectations. Even though Cyber Monday is expected to be the biggest shopping day, industry watchers say it’s just be a matter of time before other days take that ranking. “Of all the benchmark spending days, Thanksgiving itself is growing at the fastest rate, up 128 percent over the last five years,” said Andrew Lipsman of comScore. Still, according to research, Americans are expected to spend $1.5 billion, up 20 percent from last year, as retailers have ramped up Cyber Monday deals. Amazon, which is started its Cyber Monday deals at midnight, is offering as much as 60 percent off a Panasonic VIERA 55-inch TV (usually $1,000). Sears is offering $430 off a Maytag washer and dryer (now $399). And Kmart is offering 75 percent off all of its diamond earrings and $60 off a 12-in-1 multigame table. These are just a few of the many awesome Cyber Monday 2012 deals you could be cashing in on right now instead of reading about them on THG! Go to town!

Smoking Rots Brain, Study Finds; No One Surprised

In addition to giving you cancer and other horrible lung diseases, smoking rots the brain by damaging memory, learning and reasoning, according to a new study. King’s College London looked at 8,800 people over 50 who showed high blood pressure and were overweight, but who also showed neurological effects. Researchers, who said lifestyles impact the mind as well as the body, were investigating links between the likelihood of a heart attack or stroke and the brain. Data was collected and brain tests, such as making participants learn new words or name as many animals as they could in a minute, were also performed. They were all tested again after four and then eight years. Results showed that the overall risk of a heart attack or stroke was “significantly associated with cognitive decline ” with those at the highest risk showing the greatest decline. It also said there was a clear “consistent association” between smoking and lower scores in the tests. One of the researchers, Dr. Alex Dregan, said: “Cognitive decline becomes more common with ageing and for an increasing number of people interferes with daily functioning and well-being. “We have identified a number of risk factors which could be associated with accelerated cognitive decline, all of which, could be modifiable.” The doctor added in conclusion: “We need to make people aware of the need to do some lifestyle changes because of the risk of cognitive decline.” Researchers do not know how such a decline could affect people’s daily lives, nor whether an early drop in brain function could lead to conditions such as dementia. Dr Simon Ridley, from Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “Research has repeatedly linked smoking and high blood pressure to a greater risk of cognitive decline and dementia, and this study adds further weight to that evidence.” “Cognitive decline as we age can develop into dementia, and unraveling the factors that are linked to this decline could be crucial for finding ways to prevent the condition.” “Eating a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly, getting your blood pressure and cholesterol checked and not smoking can all make a difference.”

Justin Bieber Defends Wardrobe, Fires Back Against "White Trash" Accusations

Justin Bieber may have won an award over the weekend, but some people are in no mood to celebrate the young superstar. On Saturday, Bieber accepted the Diamond Jubilee Medal from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, shaking hands with the politician in an outfit many believe was wholly inappropriate for the occasion. Hayley Peterson of The Daily Mail , for instance, actually referred to Justin as a “white trash prince” for donning one-strapped overalls during the photo op. Look, critics, Justin Bieber could have been wearing a lot less . And now Bieber has spoken out in defense of his wardrobe, writing last night on Instagram: “The pic of me and the Prime Minister was taken in a room in the arena where i was performing at that day. I walked straight from my meet and greet to him, if you “Hayley” expect me to have a change of clothes let a loan a suit at that specific time that’s crazy, It wasn’t like it was like I was going into his environment we were at a hockey arena. Wow am i ever white trash hayley peterson lol” What do you think? Was Bieber – who also got booed yesterday while performing at halftime of the Grey Cup – in the wrong for wearing such an outfit for such a major occasion?   Yes, show some respect! No, he’s so cute! The Gatekeepers’ Director Dror Moreh: ‘Peace Is Possible’ In The Mid-East, But ‘Israel Lacks Leadership’

The two most chilling films I’ve seen so far in Toronto are both documentaries:  Dror Moreh’s The Gatekeepers and Alex Gibney’s Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God .”  I’ll be writing more about Gibney’s film in the coming days, but I got a chance to briefly interview Moreh at a dinner Sony Pictures Classics threw at Creme Brasserie in the Yorkville District of Toronto, and I want to share his comments. The Gatekeepers is remarkable because Moreh managed to get six former leaders of Israel’s security agency Shin Bet to go on camera for the first time and talk about the sometimes very dark things they’ve done to protect their homeland from terrorism since the Six-Day War of 1967.  The men talk about torture, about cultivating informants and about collateral damage:  the calculations that go into deciding whether to take out a terrorist at the risk of also killing innocents.  They also talk, in very level-headed terms, of the spineless nature of the political leaders to whom they report. What really resonated with me is that Moreh never loses sight of the fact that, despite the life-and-death decisions these men made over the course of their careers, they are just men. (Indeed, one of the men looked unsettlingly like my father.)  And in addition to pulling the curtain back on what goes into the bloody sausage-making process of Mid-East politics, these former Shin Bet leaders talk quite eloquently about the toll their work took on their psyches and their souls. What I didn’t expect is for the men that Moreh interviewed to agree so readily that peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians is possible, even if they didn’t all agree on how it should be accomplished.  It’s easy to make the assumption that the men who do the kind of work that these former Shin Bet leaders did are hawks by nature — and committed to maintaining conflict in order to insure that their work remains in demand. But I left the screening of The Gatekeepers that I saw convinced that these six former Shin Bet leaders wanted an end to the conflict, see it in Israel’s grasp and, yet, are disgusted that their superiors are doing little to move in that direction. At the Sony Pictures Classics party, I asked Moreh why the six former Shin Bet leaders had given him such unprecedented acccess, and he told me: “I think they came because they are concerned like me. They see that Israel is going on a path that can  lead only to a bitter result,” he explained. “Each has a different point of view, but they are all worried.” When I asked him if he could see an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Moreh replied: “Peace is possible.  The problem in Israel is that we lack leadership. Never ever in the history of this country has there been  such a good and understanding leadership on the Palestinian side, and Israel does everything in its power to avoid conversation. Everything,” Moreh said with a wince as Pierce Brosnan, Aaron Paul and Zac Efron roamed the crowd. The Gatekeepers director added: “I’m wondering, when [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu says ‘two-state solution,’ with whom does he want to speak? Does he want to speak with Hamas?  With Iran?   [Former  Prime Minister Yitzhak] Rabin said there’s a small window of opportunity [for peace.] It is closing,” Moreh said before adding: “The day that [former Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon got the second stroke,” which left him unable to perform his duties and paved the way for Netanyahu’s return to the prime minister’s eat, “was the worst day in Israel’s history after the assassination of Rabin” in 1995. When I asked Moreh if there was anyone he would like to see lead Israel, he replied: “There is no leadership that I can see now that can do what needs to be done.” Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter.
