We had to wear our galoshes to work today here at Skin Central, because the streets were flooded with the salty tears of Twi-hards devastated at the betrayal of their Prince Charming Robert Pattinson by Princess of Pout Kristen Stewart . You’d think they’d be happy–after all, now they have the opportunity to scoop Rpatz up in their arms, dry his glittery tears, and make him believe in love again. But that’s the difference between Twi-hards and the rest of us. Anyway, the man that Kstew hooked up with is her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders , whom photographic evidence reveals went down on her muff of brown in the front seat of a car parked in the canyons of LA. (Guess he took “yodeling in the canyon” literally!) But to us, the real shocking bit is that Rupert was willing to jeopardize his relationship with his super-hot model wife Liberty Ross . Perry’s fairy-tale clip closes the book on her Teenage Dream story and finds her living happily ever after. By James Montgomery Katy Perry in “Wide Awake” Photo: Katy Perry certainly isn’t the first artist to get all Lewis Carroll-ian with a video — Tom Petty’s iconic “Don’t Come Around Here No More” certainly springs to mind — though, in some ways, her brand-new “Wide Awake” clip (which borrows from Carroll’s “Through the Looking Glass” book) does manage to cover new territory — namely by transforming the fantasy trope into a bit of an autobiography. It makes sense. After all, it’s not exactly a stretch to call the past two years of her life — which began with the release of her Teenage Dream album in summer 2010 and concludes with her upcoming “Part of Me” 3-D film — surreal. She’s one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, gone through a very public divorce, and become the rather unwilling target of the tabloids — and in some way, you get the feeling she’d like nothing more than to return to simpler times (singles sales intact, obvs). And all those things show up, in one form or another, in “Wide Awake,” which begins at the very end of her “California Gurls” music video shoot and takes her literally through the looking glass to a world that is basically as fantastical as her actual existence. She is trapped inside a labyrinth. She discovers her lost innocence in the form of a young girl. She is hounded by hellish paparazzi. She finds her Prince Charming, who tellingly crosses his fingers behind his back before going in for a kiss. And even more tellingly, Perry reaches back and decks him. In short, you don’t exactly need an advanced degree in film theory to realize that the video is one long symbolic ride through her voyage to superstardom (except for the two hospital attendants/minotaurs; I’m not sure what they represent). The squeeze of fame, the rose-colored nostalgia, the invasions of privacy and the betrayals of trust: It’s all here and all ready for the armchair analysts. Of course, Perry has made it very clear that this new video is the final chapter of the fairy tale that was her Teenage Dream years. That she doesn’t seem to be entirely happy with all of it is about as telling as her socking Prince Charming — after all, no one ever said fame was easy, or the ride to the top wouldn’t be a bumpy one. And, at their very core, most fairy tales are actually pretty terrifying things. But with “Wide Awake,” Perry lets it be known that she’s made it through unscathed and on top of the world. Are you dying to see Katy Perry ‘s new video for her latest hit single, “Wide Awake”? We have some very good news for you in the form of a special sneak peek. Perry has just dropped a trailer for the clip, and we are happy to report that it is 82 seconds of expert teasery. The 1 minute, 22 second trailer opens in a “Secret Garden”-type setting, with a shot of the back of a young, dark-haired girl surrounded by foliage. She’s standing looking at an old table, which is covered by overgrown plants and vines. Suddenly, the debris is whisked away to reveal a dusty old book. The young girl begins turning the pages of the book, which reveal different chapters, with each one highlighted by a photo from a previous Perry video. Stills from “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” “Last Friday Night” and “The One That Got Away” all make for separate chapters in the book. When the girl turns the page to reveal “The Final Chapter,” we start to see pictures from “Wide Awake” that seem to indicate we’ll be whisked into a fairy tale of some sort that naturally has Perry playing our heroine and/or possible princess. The other characters and plot points involved in the tale involve a poisoned strawberry, a curious cat, Prince Charming and a young girl — the very one we’ve been watching turning the pages of the book. The teaser ends with the young girl waving at herself in the book, after which she closes it to reveal the tome’s title: “Wide Awake: The Final Chapter From Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection,” and the premiere date of the video, June 19, which we’re very happy to unveil on MTV. ‘It’s a wrap for today. Kristen has hurt herself,’ co-star on the film tweeted. By Jocelyn Vena Kristin Stewart on the set of “Snow White and the Huntsman” (file) Photo: Splash News Kristen Stewart was reportedly hurt on the set of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” halting production until Friday. While details about her injury remain a mystery as of press time, her co-star Max Manganello , who plays one of the duke’s soldiers in the film, announced it on Twitter. The tweet has since been taken down, but according to E! News , Manganello had this to say about the injury on Tuesday: “It’s a wrap for today. Kristen has hurt herself … nothing scary. We shoot on Friday.” A rep for the movie studio had not responded to MTV News’ request for comment by press time and little else is known about Stewart’s condition. Stewart has been busy shooting the film abroad. In late September, she was spotted in Pembrokeshire, Wales, filming a battle scene, and days later she was photographed drenched and wearing a gown on the back of a white horse. The film is expected to open on June 1, 2012 and also features Charlize Theron (the Evil Queen), Chris Hemsworth (the Huntsman) and Sam Claflin (Prince Charming). The story centers on the struggle between Snow White and the Evil Queen, who, jealous of Snow White’s beauty, wants to destroy her. The catch is that Snow White has been training with the Huntsman, who has also been ordered to kill her. Some photos of the “Twilight” star on the set of “Snow White and the Huntsman” have hit the Internet. In them, Stewart is wearing her previously teased armor as she films scenes at Marloes Sands Beach in Pembrokeshire Wales, U.K., this week. Photos on Screenrant.com show the actress riding a white horse alongside a group of extras dressed as medieval soldiers. They are riding through the water for what appears to be some sort of battle scene. In some on-set candids, the ponytail-sporting actress laughs and walks around the set of the Rupert Sanders-directed flick. Stewart recently debuted her longer locks for the film at London Fashion Week. Shortly after the premiere of the video on MTV on Thursday evening, Minaj sat down with MTV News’ Sway and explained the development of the fairytale narrative and said that catching her fans off guard is just what she was looking for. “I definitely went back and forth with [director] Chris [Robinson] a lot. I just wanted it to be something a little bit unexpected,” she said. Minaj added she initially had a more bottle-poppin’ vibe in mind, which was eventually replaced by the romantic story line. “First I wanted it to be like, really just a celebration and a party,” she admitted. “But I had the idea of making it more of a romance. Chris just sort of took those little bits and pieces and ran with it, and then it became sort of this big Cinderella thing.” The concept of the video may have evolved over time, but Minaj said that her first choice to jump on the track was always Drizzy, who provided her with the instrumental. “Drake came to the studio one night and he brought me a whole bunch of beats when I was wrapping up the [ Pink Friday ] album. This ‘Moment 4 Life’ was one of the beats, and he was like, ‘Just do whatever. Whatever you pick, I’m just gonna rock with you.’ I had the beat for a while, maybe, like, over a month, and I was just sitting on it — pause — and next thing you know, I was shooting [the video for] ‘Right Thru Me’ and I played this beat for everybody in my dressing room, and I was like, ‘Do you like this beat?’ Everybody said, ‘Yeah.’ And I just went to the studio the next day, and I laid the hook and I sent it to Drake and I didn’t know if he was gonna like it, blah blah blah, and he was like, ‘I love it.’ ” Drizzy mused that their parallel journeys as budding hip-pop superstars made the inspirational track a perfect fit. “He was like, ‘It makes sense for me and you.’ We both are at a place right now that we feel like we wish we could have this moment for life,” she recalled. “We don’t know what’s gonna happen next year, but this moment feels amazing. Jeremih sure is an opinionated fellow: Did 50 call when the photo of you and Chelsea Handler hit the Internet? He just laughed. It was no big deal, it was just a picture. I talked to 50 beforehand, and told him that I was just coming to meet her. I can’t help what the people/blogs say—that’s their job to create stories. Chelsea is cool as hell and it was nothing more than that. Being a male R&B artist these days also means having to be a sex symbol, but you haven’t really been romantically linked to anyone. Based off your music, I can see you leaning towards Keri Hilson or like a Ciara… Actually, I’ve always been a fan of Ciara, not that I’m not of Keri. But I watched the “Ride” video like ten times the first day [laughs]. She probably kept the whole budget from that video because there wasn’t much to it. It was her—very simple, very sexy. She to me is like the modern day Janet Jackson but on another level. Keri Hilson I have always been a fan of hers, too. What about Nicki? She’s killing it right now. When I look for a woman, I look for one that’s real—that’s keeping it 100. I rather someone know that they’re sexy and not show it. Nothing against Nicki Minaj, I think she’s a dope lyricist and her body is perfect, along with a dope personality. But I’m more into a woman who’s not so much into the spotlight. A lady that knows she’s fine and sexy but doesn’t really have to show it off. Nicki Minaj is cool, Ciara is more of a conservative, she knows she’s sexy and the way she carries herself probably is more of what I would lean towards. So what else can we look forward to from you this year? I’m scheduled to go overseas on another European tour. But this year I definitely look forward to taking my career to the next level and keep expanding my brand, whether it’s movies or merchandising. After talking to 50, I’ve learned that’s the key to this. When are we going to hear something with you and your Chi-Town brethren Kanye and Common? [Laughs] Man, I can only hope it’s real soon. Have you had the chance to meet Kanye? I’ve met just about everyone on Def Jam except Kanye West and Mariah Carey. When College Dropout came out I was so inspired. I think that’s his best album to date, even though I’m a fan of his latest work and all his albums. I had a lot of hip-hop style sampled beats back in the day and people would come through my apartment and say ‘you need to hook up with Kanye.’ I heard that a lot.
