Prince: Suffered Drug Overdose Days Before Death

In a troubling report released by TMZ, sources claim that Prince had been treated for a drug overdose just six days before his untimely death this morning. As we reported last week, the singer had been rushed to the hospital following an emergency plane landing. He was reportedly feeling unwell while flying home after a concert in Atlanta. A representative for Prince claimed the music icon had been battling the flu for weeks, but was doing fine after doctors treated him for symptoms. Multiple sources now say the artist was administered a “save shot,” which is typically given to counter the effects of opiate drugs such as heroin, oxycontin or morphine. At the time, doctors had advised Prince to remain in the hospital for 24 hours, but he ultimately decided to leave when he couldn’t secure a private room at the facility, according to the site. Sources reported that when Prince left the hospital, he “was not doing well.” Prince was found dead in his Minnesota home this morning. Paramedics performed CPR, but were unable to revive him. Earlier today, Prince’s former band mate Matt Fink confessed that he thought the flu excuse was bogus, and that there may have been an underlying health problem we didn’t know about. The cause of death is currently being investigated. View Slideshow: Prince: Stars React to the Death of Iconic Singer

Apparently, Genetics May Have Played A Role In When You Lost Your Virginity

In case you’ve been wondering, a new study published in the journal of Nature Genetics suggests that the age at which we lose our virginity may be partially contingent upon genetics. According to researchers, who analyzed more than 150,000 individuals in the U.K. and more than 250,000 in the U.S., there are at least 38 gene regions that have an influence on when a person has their first sexual encounter. Some of the genes had to do with puberty and hormones, while others, surprisingly, were related to physical appearance and personality. Genes that had an effect on how inclined a person was to engage in risk-taking behavior were also a factor… “We were able to calculate for the first time that there is a heritable component to age at first sex, and the heritability is about 25%, so one-quarter nature, three-quarters nurture,” explained an author of the study, John Perry, in a chat with The Guardian… [ MadameNoire ] Only 11% Of Women Love Everything About Their Hair And Wouldn’t Change It Have you ever googled “beautiful hair” and looked at the images that pop up? Hint: no one in the results looks like you or I. While this may seem like a small thing, we all know that even the most confident and self-assured woman is affected by the images of beauty she’s exposed to in some shape, form, or fashion and, unfortunately, when it comes to hair, that effect is often quite negative. A recent study commissioned by Dove Hair found that only 11% of women in the United States actually love everything about their hair and wouldn’t change anything about it. That’s a sad figure, especially when you consider 75% of the respondents believe they would have greater self-confidence if they didn’t feel like they were being judged by their hair… [ MadameNoire ] Common & Chance The Rapper Part Of Chicago Mural Art Project Chicago‘s Hip-Hop history is a vast one, but many fans would concede and say few stars have shined as brightly as native sons Common and Chance The Rapper at various times in their careers. The two are now immortalized by way of a mural art project in the South Side section of the Windy City. Columbia College’s Chronicle publication covered the unveiling of the murals, which were created by Chicago artist and urban planner Chris Devins. Devins made Chance and Com Sense the subjects of his “Chatham 2.0” public arts project at the corner of 79th and Evans street… [ HipHopWired ] Fantasia Debuts New Upbeat Melody “So Blue” [ Vibe ] Prince Dead at 57 [ TMZ ] This Rare Clip Of Prince, Michael Jackson And James Brown Onstage Is Amazing [ HuffingtonPost ] The Cast Of New Edition Biopic Has Been Selected [ BallerAlert ]
