Martin Tremblay, Youth Hockey Coach, Sentenced to Jail for Tripping Incident

Martin Tremblay, a youth hockey coach in British Columbia, has been sentenced to 15 days in prison for tripping a 13-year old opponent during his team’s post-game handshake exchange. The incident (below) took place in July, with one of the two victims who fell to the ace actually breaking his wrist upon impact. Youth Hockey Coach Trips Players In November, the 48-year old coach pleaded guilty to one count of assault, with his attorney saying Tremblay was not taking his anti-depressant medication when the tripping took place. “He’s rebuilding his life after this incident,” the coach’s lawyer told the assembled press after Tremblay was sentenced. “It’s horrible. He put in years and years coaching hockey, he put in years and years as a scout master. And that’s all over… because of one incident when he was off his antidepressants for three weeks.” But Judge Patrick Chen was clearly unmoved, explaining in court today that Tremblay had abused the trust of the public and that the action was akin to “a cowardly sucker punch.” He will serve his sentence over intermittent weekends.

Prince Harry Wants to Make Princess Diana Proud With AIDS Charity Work

Prince Harry spoke about his charity work Wednesday night in South Africa, and of his late mother, who instilled the passion in him for giving back. Princess Diana worked to help those with HIV/AIDS, and now Harry, 28, is doing the same in the tiny kingdom of Lesotho, where he’s visiting now. The younger Prince of Wales observed the work of the charity Sentebale that he set up with friend Prince Seeiso in memory of their late mothers. Harry said he hoped both mothers would be looking down with pride. “I hope she would be proud of what we are trying to achieve in her name,” Harry said of Queen Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. “I hope my mother will be proud, too.” “Maybe, just maybe, they are together somewhere up there, with blueprints and sketches already mapped out! I can only hope we put the swings in the right place.” “Talking about HIV and understanding it isn’t dangerous,” Harry said on a more serious note at the dinner. “Denying it, or not knowing about it, definitely is.” Harry, who made news earlier this week by being linked to socialite Cressida Bonas , sensed that their efforts were beginning to have an effect. “We are now seeing many of these children begin to fulfill their ambitions and realize dreams that once seemed completely impossible,” he said. “Our aim and hope is that we can influence a continued decline in the transmission of HIV and increase life expectancy, in a unique way for Lesotho.” “By addressing the psychological and social needs of the next generation, the future of this very small and beautiful country, and its magnificent people, could and should be very bright.” Whatever you think of the brother of Prince William and brother-in-law of Kate Middleton , it’s impossible to argue with those words – and his actions here.

Pippa Middleton to Pen Cooking Column For UK Magazine

Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, will be sharing her cooking tips with the masses in a new column for UK supermarket chain Waitrose. Middleton will write for its Waitrose Kitchen magazine. Her column name? “Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts.” We eagerly await Pippa’s signature French bread recipe . Don’t laugh. Her foray into kitchen advice is just the latest offering from the party planning pro. Celebrate , her first book released last year, is a a guide to entertaining through the year, built on the experience she gained working for her family’s business. Her parents, now best known for producing Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton , also own and operate a successful event planning company. The book by the sister of Britain’s future queen was both praised and pilloried in equal measure but did not sell well and was quickly discounted in book stores. William Sitwell, editor of Waitrose Kitchen , said readers would enjoy hearing from Pippa Middleton and her relaxed and easy entertaining ideas: “Pippa will be an excellent contributor to the magazine, bringing with her a wealth of experience of entertaining, gained in part from working at her family’s business.” Her first column will appear in the magazine’s April issue. Middleton said her column would be an “exciting opportunity to share my own passion and enthusiasm for food and entertaining and I can’t wait to get started.”

Prince Michael Jackson: Hired as Entertainment Tonight Correspondent!

Prince Michael Jackson, the late King of Pop’s 16-year-old son, has signed on as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight . He made his debut this week. The eldest of Michael’s three children, Prince interviewed James Franco, Zach Braff and director Sam Raimi about their film Oz the Great and Powerful . He has ambitions beyond the celebrity news program, too. Prince, born Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., said “I’m looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor,” down the road. His sister Paris Jackson , 14, also has big dreams, signing on to star in a film called Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys , based on a young adult novel. Prince Michael Jackson is the progeny of his dad’s relationship with his former wife Debbie Rowe. She is also mother to the couple’s second child, Paris. Michael Jackson’s youngest child, Blanket (born Prince Michael Jackson II), will be 11 on Thursday and was born to an unnamed surrogate mother. Michael Jackson died at his home in 2009 at age 50 from an overdose of the anaesthetic propofol and sedatives administered by Dr. Conrad Murray. The kids have not only held up well since then, they’ve flourished and continue to show they’re becoming well-rounded, well-adjusted young adults. MJ would be proud. Congrats Prince on the new gig!

Mindy McCready Suicide Prevention Video: "I’ll See You Yesterday" Takes on New Meaning

Mindy McCready’s last song, “I’ll See You Yesterday,” contained a strong suicide prevention message and was dedicated to her late boyfriend David Wilson. Obviously, it’s taken on a whole new tragic meaning now. Mindy McCready – I’ll See You Yesterday As she sings “I’ll See You Yesterday,” a photo of a rural scene transitions to pictures of McCready and Wilson, followed by contact info for suicideispreventable.org. It had been intended to be used as a PSA. “She told me it was beautiful, it made her cry and was exactly what she wanted,” says Dan “Danno” Hanks, a private investigator friend who produced the video. “I asked her if I could post it and Mindy’s answer was, ‘You’ll know when it’s right.’ In hindsight, she was having me produce her suicide video.” Hanks posted the video online after police found Mindy McCready dead on the porch of her Arkansas home after apparently shooting herself. Last month, police found David Wilson dead in the very same house, by the same means. He is believed to have taken his own life, as did Mindy. The song, written by McCready pal Courtney Dashe and co-writer Jason Walker, is about remembering the good in relationships that had gone sour. “We know she has been through a lot and the song clearly resonated with her,” says Dashe, who watched McCready cry after hearing the song. “[Danno] said the song had been really helping her cope with the loss.” McCready, who shot her dog as well, had been battling drug use and depression in the 36 days in between her death and Wilson’s – and for years prior.

Nico Jackson is dating Pippa Middleton, and for that we sort of want to dislike this man big time, even though he seems pretty nice on paper at least. Who is this fella who won the heart of Kate Middleton ‘s younger sister? According to various articles written about the new lovebirds … He’s a stockbroker in London at Deutsche Bank. Pippa and Nico reportedly joined Kate and Prince William on the family vacation in Mustique … site of the infamous bikini baby bump photo controversy. His mom, Ulrike Jackson, told the Daily Mail she is “very pleased” with her son dating Pippa Middleton , and that they are “very happy” … shocker. He’s a skier. British tabloids claim that the duo met while skiing and have recently been enjoying each other’s company on the Swiss slopes. He’s charming. Not royal, but charming. “Nico is always respectful, very well-mannered,” a source tells one UK tabloid. “His whole family is.” Always a good sign. Be good to her, Nico … or else.

Pregnant Kate Middleton and Prince William have escaped dreary, winter London for a babymoon holiday on the ultra-exclusive Carribean island of Mustique. Expecting their first child together, the Duchess, 31, and Duke, 30, are kicking back in a luxury villa with a $30,000-a-week price tag – with her folks! The babymoon is a family affair , apparently. The couple flew out a few days ago to join Kate Middleton’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton. With Kate completely recovered from the acute morning sickness that plagued the earliest days of her pregnancy, the twosome are ready to party. Well, within reason. She’s still carrying the royal heir(ess). But with Kate Middleton’s due date in July, and her health improved dramatically in the past few weeks, she’s earned a nice, fun babymoon vacation! Not to mention some much-needed family time. As long as there’s no repeat of topless photos that surfaced from their holiday in France – which we doubt, on the secluded island – all is well!
