Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket to Attend MJ Tribute Concert

Michael Jackson’s kids are planning on attending the upcoming MJ Tribute Concert in person. This in spite of objections from two of their uncles. Prince, Paris and Blanket have all decided that they want to fly to Wales for the event, regardless of what Jermaine and Randy Jackson think. An Jackson family rep tells TMZ: “Paris, Blanket and Prince have been asked to attend the MJ Tribute in Wales and they have decided to go.” The rep adds that the kids are “extremely excited and they’re hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech.” “Nothing has been set in stone, but they really hope they can.” Jermaine and Randy are fighting their attendance, as well as the concert itself, which they consider “inappropriate,” given that the event is due to take place in October during the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray . We can see that side of it, but at the same time, Michael’s kids – who are said to be so happy these days – should be allowed to honor his memory. [Photo: Fame Pictures]

Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall were married in a royal wedding fit for the Queen’s granddaughter today. William and Kate were there to watch his cousin wed! Zara, Prince William’s cousin and 13th in line to the throne (William’s #2 behind his father), and Mike, England’s rugby team captain, tied the knot in Edinburgh . The 3 p.m. ceremony took place at Canongate Kirk, the historic, small Church of Scotland venue where the Queen worships when she stays in the city. The bride made her arrival at a fashionably late six minutes past the hour in an ivory silk and satin gown by Stewart Parvin, the personal couturier to the Queen. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo shoes and a tiara on loan from Princess Anne. Mike Tindall wore a suit with coattails and a light grey stripe on the trouser legs. Princess Beatrice was among the first guests to arrive, wearing a turquoise hat with matching floral dress. Prince William and Kate Middleton (who wore a cream suit and matching hat) pulled up right afterwards in a black Jaguar. Princess Anne and her husband Tim Laurence followed and then another car brought Prince Charles and Camilla, also dressed in cream. The guests posed for the throngs of people lining the narrow, cobblestone streets, while HRM Queen Elizabeth II herself, in a dignified peach dress and hat, and Prince Phillip smiled to the crowd upon their arrival. The reception will be held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s nearby residence. Zara spent many school holidays visiting her grandmother there. The Queen is donating the use of her residence as the wedding reception venue for $60,000, which is being closed to the public for five days. It will cost local officials a reported $800,000 to police the wedding, including marksmen at vantage points to protect the royal guests. With guests expected to number no more than 300, Zara looked forward to a private, family affair – quite different from her cousin’s in April. “My wedding will be nothing like Kate and William’s,” Phillips said last month. Photo: AFP/Getty Images Michael Jackson ‘s family has announced a tribute concert to the late King of Pop that is slated to take place on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales. The four-hour show at the 75,000-capacity Millennium Stadium will be broadcast via satellite on pay-per-view and into movie theaters with a cast of big-name performers whose identities have not yet been revealed. At the Beverly Hills press conference on Monday revealing the details of the “Michael Forever” show, Jackson family matriarch Katherine was joined by sons Tito, Jackie and Marlon and daughter LaToya; siblings Jermaine, Randy, Janet and estranged husband Joe were not in attendance. “When I was told some of the names of the artists performing, I knew it would be fit for a king. If my son was here today he would feel the same way, and so I’d like to say thank you very much for helping to keep my son’s legacy alive,” Katherine Jackson said of Michael, who died in June 2009 of a heart attack caused by a prescription drug overdose. According to Wales Online , the show will feature artists Jackson admired and will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the start of his solo career. “I will be there along with as many members of my family that can make it,” Katherine said. “It is intended to be the biggest and best concert in the world for many years to come.” Sister LaToya added, “This event is far, far overdue. He was an entertainer who I feel no one can ever stand up to or hold a candle to as far as his talent is concerned. This tribute will be something spectacular and I know that he would approve.” One of the show’s producers said that despite taking place in a large stadium, the building’s roof will be closed to create a more intimate atmosphere. Proceeds from the show will benefit three charities Jackson supported: the Prince’s Trust, AIDS Project Los Angeles and a cancer charity. The show’s lineup will be announced on August 3. As with many things related to MJ’s legacy, there was controversy, as brothers Randy and Jermaine said they thought the timing of the show was inappropriate. In a statement, the two said, “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death. As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20.” That date is when Jackson’s former doctor, Conrad Murray , is slated to go on trial for manslaughter charges in the singer’s death. Jermaine attempted to put on a tribute concert to his late brother in September 2009, but the show fell apart after many of the top acts were unable to commit to the event. She recently posed for photographer duo Gomillion and Leupold for the August 2011 issue of Blank magazine – we’ve never heard of it, but the pics look amazing! Classic cars and yards serve as a backdrop to Cassie’s big hair and colorful outfits. Who are your biggest musical influences? I have so many influences musically. My parents always played music in the house when I was growing up in CT. The music they played ranged from Parliament Funkadelic to Carol King to Stevie Wonder. As an artist I think that the music you’re exposed to when your young influences the music you choose to create. I also went through a Jimi Hendrix phase, it was interesting. I used to listen to him on my dads old 8-track player. I was in love with Janet Jackson and of course Aaliyah. Who would you like to work with someday? Prince would be amazing. Isn’t that everyone’s answer to that? We heard you’re working on a new album. Can you give us a sneak peak? Its top secret! (smiles) I’m going to let the music speak for itself. The one thing I will say is I love it. Would you ever consider acting or being on TV? I’ve done a few things. I would love to act more; film is ideal for me. Its something I want to devote more time to – for sure. I would love to work with David Fincher or Oliver Stone. What would you be doing today if you hadn’t become a performer? Jersey Shore Cast: Bring Back Vinny Guadagnino! After bailing on Jersey Shore last week following a fight with a cast member, Vinny Guadagnino is having dinner tonight with the rest of the cast. If things go well, things may be smoothed over and the pride of Staten Island may be returning to the house for the duration of the fifth season. In fact, several stars are reportedly lobbying for his return already. Last weekend, Vinny Guadagnino was said to be burned out with the show, got into a huge fight and left for good, heading home to Staten Island. Surprisingly, many affiliated with the show were not exactly sad to see him leave, although there has reportedly been a change of heart since. They plan on going clubbing after dinner this evening, and assuming it’s like old times, Vinny will likely be welcomed back into the fold if he wants. British Invasion: Prince William & Kate Middleton Dazzle at BAFTA Event, Polo Match

Prince William and Kate Middleton took over Southern California yesterday. After a day at the Santa Barbara polo fields, the newlyweds brought glamour, grace, star power and formal wear to the BAFTA Brits to Watch event. Walking down the red carpet, Kate wore a lilac Alexander McQueen gown and earrings borrowed from the Queen, and William a classic black tux … “In terms of pure star quality, William and Kate are the biggest stars in the world ,” said Piers Morgan, among the guests at the hottest ticket in Hollywood. How impressed were the celebs? In a town where your worth is gauged by how late you get to show up, the biggest names in showbiz were there early. The best seats – at the table with the royal couple – went to Nicole Kidman, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, along with executives and diplomats. Also attending were Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively , Dana Delany, Elizabeth Moss, Marie Louise Parker, Kristin Chenoweth, Jason Bateman, Elizabeth Banks, Jack Black, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Jonah Hill and Chris Evans. Earlier in the day, Prince William and Kate Middleton brought their American tour to Santa Barbara for lunch and polo, and got a big celebrity welcome. Rob Lowe, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Molly Sims, Joe Jonas, Zoe Saldana, Rosario Dawson and Billy Zane were on hand as the pair arrived by helicopter and walked across the lawn to the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria. “Catherine and I have had a busy few days so the prospect of being able to let loose this afternoon is wonderful for me,” William said. As for whether he’ll return to Santa Barbara, the 29-year-old said, “That depends on the result out there today – I’m not a good loser.” Good news for Santa Barbara residents. As the lovely Catherine smiled and clapped, William scored four goals as his team won, 5-2. Kate wore a silver and grey silk dress by Jenny Packham. Swizz Beatz Clarifies Haute Living Rollout, Lil Wayne Track

By Jocelyn Vena Swizz Beatz Photo: MTV News Swizz Beatz initially was planning to go about releasing his latest musical venture Haute Living like any other artist would. He had a release date set and was growing the buzz around the album. Then he seemed to change his mind . Instead of releasing all of the songs at once, Swizz is going to release the tracks over an extended period of time. Why? Well, he explained it all to MTV News at the Sounds Like Paper Concert at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, where he was celebrating his Paper magazine cover. “Let me clarify: Haute Living is still coming, but as far as releasing all on one day, I’m not doing that no more,” he said. “I want to just drop singles from Haute Living instead of ‘I’m coming on September 13.’ I’m like, ‘You know what? Let me make every song an event, instead of just that one day being an event.’ ” Swizz, never a man to let boundaries define him, continued, “I want to change the whole mind-set of the way I do things as an album, but Haute Living is definitely coming. I’m just tired of doing things traditional. My whole concept of life is just to do things nontraditional, making new rules. Sky’s not the limit — it’s just a view.” Much like his reinvention of the album’s rollout, Swizz also sees the album’s music as a reinvention of how he sounds. “My vision came together for what was basically breaking all boundaries and graduating my brand and letting people know that I can do other things,” he explained. “And I used Haute Living as an outlet to team me [with all these other artists] and it was amazing.” Now that he’s clarified all the hubbub around Haute Living, Swizz also addressed Lil Wayne’s recent comments regarding their track “Dear Anne,” in which Wayne pointed out that he wasn’t happy with the track because he thought his verses were too “old,” according to XXL . “That problem is solved now,” Swizz teased. “So look out for something.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Swizz Beatz

Nicki Minaj’s ‘We Miss You’ Eerily Mirrors Cousin’s Death

By Jocelyn Vena Nikki Minaj Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Just days after Nicki Minaj’s cousin was killed , a Nicki track called “We Miss You” leaked online with lyrics that address the murder of someone close to her. As the rapper noted online shortly after the song hit the Web, however, “We Miss You” was recorded nearly 12 months earlier. “Tho the lyrics of ‘We Miss You’ eerily depict the circumstances surrounding my cousin’s death, I wrote & recorded that song on 5/24/2010,” she tweeted . “It was sent to Mariah Carey & Keyshia Cole over a year ago for a possible feature. It didn’t make Pink Friday due to clearance issues. It’s an unauthorized leak.” Minaj then thanked her fans for their support in the wake of the tragic news: “Thank u ALL for your kind words and well wishes. Love.” After announcing the news of her cousin’s death on Twitter, the rapper had stayed off the micro-blogging site until Thursday’s (July 7) leak. Minaj did receive a tweet of encouragement and love from Femme Fatale tourmate Britney Spears : “Please keep @NickiMinaj & her family in your prayers. … keep up the amazing love and support you guys have for her.” “We Miss You” samples Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls” (which could explain the clearance issues) and is somber ode to a fallen friend. As the beat kicks in, Nicki spits, “Why’d you have to leave in July?/ On a peaceful and serene summer night,” eerily mirroring the events of her cousin’s death. Although the lyrics make reference to the fact that Nicki is rapping about a lover, it seems that the references to murder are very similar to how her cousin died last weekend when he was gunned down in Brooklyn. She later says on the song, “You said that you would leave these streets, and I know you didn’t mean in a body bag/ But now we see you were not bulletproof, and I’m mad ’cause you were the best that I ever had.” Share your condolences for Nicki and her family in the comments below.
