‘Harry Potter’ Star Freddie Stroma Says Daniel Radcliffe Welcomed Him Into ‘Family’

Actor also tells MTV News he was ‘amazed’ seeing Radcliffe on Broadway. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Freddie Stroma Photo: MTV News “Insanely overwhelming. Really, really strange.” That’s how “Harry Potter” star Freddie Stroma described what he was feeling as he walked the red carpet during the New York premiere of “Half-Blood Prince” in the summer of 2009. Almost two years later, not much has changed for the self-deprecating Brit, who stopped to chat with MTV News at the hectic premiere for the “Deathly Hallows, Part 1” DVD and said, above the roar of the fans, “I can’t get used to this. It’s just bizarre.” To be fair, Stroma hasn’t had as much practice as some of his co-stars, as he only joined the franchise (as the young, cocksure wizard Cormac McLaggen) for the sixth film. Yet once he signed on, the cast welcomed him into the fold. “When I first met Dan [Radcliffe], I came in and I was just doing a costume check,” Stroma said. “He introduced himself to me and said, ‘Hi, Freddie, how’s it going?’ And then two weeks later, he came up to me again and remembered my name. He meets hundreds of people every day, so that’s amazing. You feel like you’re coming into a family.” And like any good family, the cast is there to support one another in non-“Potter” matters. While he was in New York, Stroma caught a production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” the Broadway musical in which Radcliffe currently stars. “Really good!” he said of the show. “Dan can dance, sing and act — who knew? I didn’t know. I was just amazed. And it was funny. It’s a funny show. Choreography is amazing as well.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . 5 Reasons Why Being A Princess Is Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be

Here is the original post:

Growing up, I, like pretty much every other young girl, wanted to be a princess. I dressed up in costumes and wore a long pink skirt over my head pretending I had really long ‘Princess Jasmine-esque’ hair, and bossed around my friends, who I, in my obnoxious state, didn’t let be princesses for the game. I imagined living in a castle, riding horses all day, waving to adoring fans who flocked to meet me, traveling to far away exotic countries and of course, getting to wear a tiara. To my six year old mind, this sort of lifestyle seemed like bliss. Now, I’m not going to lie, sometimes when I see photographs of Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, I still wouldn’t mind being a princess, at least for a day, because I secretly (or probably not so secretly) love him. But watching all the drama and intense scrutiny the world over about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s impending wedding has really changed my mind about being a bonafide princess. I came across an article about Kate Middleton and how she was criticized for wearing a sheer blouse , because her style would have to change now that she is to become a princess, and it got me thinking; I really don’t think the perks of the job are enough to counterbalance the crazy scrutiny and intense pressure placed upon royals, and I don’t think the job is one I could handle, and here are 5 reasons why. 1. Intense scrutiny You only need to open a magazine, or try to read a newspaper, to see how crazy the hype about the “Royal Wedding” is, even here in America. Tabloids have devoted whole sections to event, the iPad has a new app so you can have access to every minute detail, from wedding dress selections to cake ingredients, the happy couple’s faces are plastered on everything from plates and mugs to condoms and refrigerators, even jewelers are making replica Princess Diana engagement rings. It is a circus. Weddings are stressful enough being your average everyday person, adding in the attention of the entire world by being a princess, sounds plain horrific. 2. Lose normal life Can you even imagine not being free to relax in your own home or have the luxury of wandering around town on your own, without a security detail following your every move? Apparently, Prince William and Kate will get to live in a castle (my six year old self is dying inside a little of jealousy), but their home, Kensington Palace, is also a museum, so everyday, flocks of tourist will be roaming the grounds. Even though obviously private quarters are off limits to tourists, it would still bug me that even in my own home, I’m not completely free from the prying eyes of the public. 3. Risk losing family For Danish Crown Princess Mary, marrying Prince Fredrick meant having to give up her native Australian citizenship and signing away her right to custody of her children in the event of a divorce. Kate Middleton has already spoken about her fears of not being able to be a member of her family in the same way as before once she becomes an official Princess, and the fears she has for her family being hassled by paparazzi constantly. It sadly all seems like a little bit too much to go through, no? 4. Paparazzi Celebrities get followed by paparazzi all the time, and generally I have little sympathy for them. In my mind, it’s a mall price to pay for living the high life and getting paid ridiculously well to do a job you love. But the constant presence of the cameras in people such as Kate Middleton’s life, is something that I have sympathy for. She is not famous for being a singer, actress, sports star, even reality television ‘star’, but simply for being in love with someone who one day, will become King of 16 countries, so she did not invite paparazzi into her life, nor does her career benefit from the attention. Rather, the paparazzi attention focuses on her fashion sense, weight, and etiquette, and desperately looks for a cheating scandal. I can’t think of anything worse than being followed everyday by cameramen, and the entire world commenting on my weight, what I look like without makeup, whether or not my hair color suits me, was my outfit too expensive or too racy, was eating a hamburger appropriate for a royal? And imagine the scandal if I dared to do something mundane or something not deemed ‘proper’ enough by Royal standards! 5. Having an allowance I could get used to the idea of being given an allowance, hell, I can’t think of anything better than getting an allowance! But, having to rely on the allowance because I can’t actually go out and go to work everyday like everyone else on the planet, sort of kills off the fun of the free money. What would you do to occupy your time, if you didn’t get a chance to work in a field you were passionate about, just because you’re going to be a Queen? Being a Princess is a lot of fun when you’re a kid, and reading about the enviable wardrobes and vacations of modern day royals, makes for a fun daydream, but in reality, I would take my boring, normal lifestyle every day of the week, over being a real-life Princess, even if I got to wear a tiara. Should Husbands Wear Wedding Rings? Prince William Won’t Be

See the rest here:

Prince William will not be wearing a wedding ring after he marries longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton later this month. “There is only going to be one ring, in accordance with the couple’s wishes,” a source told PEOPLE . Kate Middleton will have a wedding band, and it will be made from a tiny amount of Welsh gold mined from the mountains. It has been kept in the royal vaults since originally presented to William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth. We would have been more likely to agree with this decision had it been part of a tradition or something, but it’s not – William’s father Prince Charles wears a wedding ring. CyHi Da Prynce On Kanye West: ‘He Pushes Me’

G.O.O.D. Music MC tells Mixtape Daily, ‘He’ll tell me when my verse is not as hot.’ By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Harper CyHi Da Prince Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: CyHi Da Prynce CyHi Da Prynce likens the G.O.O.D. Music collective to superheroes, but you might be surprised to learn who he compares his crew to. “[Kanye] is Captain Planet and all our powers combined,” the upstart MC told Mixtape Daily, referencing the animated Planeteers. “I’m heart, Big Sean is water, Pusha T is fire and Teyana Taylor is Wind. So if you put it all together, it’s Captain Planet. He’s Captain Planet.” And maybe Mr. Hudson is Earth, but even without the final element, it’s hard not to give ‘Ye a nod for pushing his team to the forefront. The My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy star recently held court down in Texas, where he headlined a ballyhooed G.O.O.D. Music set at the South by Southwest music festival. Push, Cy and Jay-Z joined Mr. West for a formidable lineup. According to Da Prynce, it’s just another example of Yeezy’s hospitality, though, to hear the Georgia rapper tell it, it’s really his mentor’s honesty that sets him apart, for better or worse. “I wish you guys could really be around him,” CyHi said. “The misconception … it’s like this, you know how you say something about somebody behind their back, and then when you see them you have to be politically correct and you don’t say what you want to say to them? I don’t feel like that’s right. Some people have to be honest with each other, ’cause sometimes you can’t let a situation escalate to a point where it’s out of control. “Honesty is the biggest thing to me and that’s what I love about [Kanye],” he continued. “He’ll tell me when my verse is not as hot. Most of your friends will tell you you’re dope because you’re already naturally dope. But he pushes me and challenges me to be better. And he does that in music, art, fashion and so many other things to the point where I take it as constructive criticism. Especially to someone that sold all these records, he didn’t sell them for nothing. Don’t shoot the messenger all the time, just get the message.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Related Videos Mixtape Daily: Cy Hi Da Prince, Pusha T

Dr. Conrad Murray Blames Dr. Arnold Klein For Michael Jackson Drug Addiction

Charged with involuntary manslaughter, Dr. Conrad Murray will likely argue that Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose of Propofol. Even if that were true (and it’s a stretch), it still wouldn’t get Murray off the hook. The treatment he gave MJ was suspect for myriad reasons. To that end, Murray’s lawyers just filed documents pointing fingers at none other than Dr. Arnold Klein – Jackson’s longtime doctor and friend. Murray claims that Klein addicted Jackson to Demerol and other powerful narcotics. It’s part of his plan to establish Michael as a lost cause physically . Murray’s legal team claims Klein fueled MJ’s addiction as recently as 2009 by giving him scores of Demerol injections in the months prior to his death. He may have a point there. In the months before Jackson died, Dr. Arnold Klein gave Jackson 51 Demerol injections. But is it relevant to the case? The docs claim it is for this reason: “Due to Mr. Klein’s actions, Mr. Jackson became physiologically and psychologically dependent on Demerol.” Murray’s team says Dr. Arnold Klein , who is also the rumored biological father of MJ’s kids Paris and Prince, “is a relevant, highly material witness.” Dr. Conrad Murray …

Kanye West Brings G.O.O.D. Music, Jay-Z To Texas For SXSW

Yeezy closes the music fest after 4 a.m. By Paul Cantor Kanye West and Jay-Z perform in Austin, Texas on Saturday Photo: Daniel Boczarski/Getty Images AUSTIN, Texas — South by Southwest 2011 had its fair share of amazing performances this year, but Kanye West’s show Saturday night at the Vevo Power Plant was certainly hard to top. Officially billed as Vevo Presents: G.O.O.D. Music featuring Kanye West, John Legend, Common, Kid Cudi, Mos Def and more, the event concluded with a 90-minute Kanye set that ran until just past 4 a.m. Photos from the G.O.O.D. Music show with Kanye, Jay-Z and more. The night’s festivities were opened by Mos Def. Dressed in black and wearing a shiny costume mask, he performed songs like “Oh No” and “Casa Bey” before ceding the stage to Pusha T. Pusha greeted fans with the Clipse’s “Grindin’ ” and closed with the popular mixtape cut “Fear of God.” He was followed by Big Sean and then Cyhi Da Prince, who performed with a violinist. While Mr. Hudson’s songs seemed largely foreign to the diverse audience, in a bit of foreshadowing, he closed with his hook from Jay-Z’s “Forever Young.” Then, a short dance sequence by Fonzworth Bentley lead to a Kid Cudi set. Cudi had fans fist-pumping to the Crookers remix of “Day ‘N’ Nite” then singing a cappella along with him to “Pursuit of Happiness.” Then it was time for the main event. At roughly 2:30 a.m., after fans had braved hours on their feet (including the time spent waiting in line to get in since the early afternoon), Kanye West sauntered onto a stage draped in red light. The operatic flourishes of “Dark Fantasy,” from his latest LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, rose in volume as his silhouette appeared. Backed by DJ Cassidy, ‘Ye — in a black leather jacket, black gloves and black sunglasses — tore through the opening cut. After revisiting his older catalog with “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” he stepped back to the current day and brought John Legend out to perform the popular G.O.O.D. Friday track “Christian Dior Denim Flow.” Legend stayed onstage and they performed “Blame Game” together before John manned the keys solo for “Ordinary People.” The night hit its stride when ‘Ye brought out the MPC for a VMA-like performance of “Runaway.” He danced around stage as the beat played, and harmonized during an extended outro. As the song ended, he put his head down, clutched the microphone and turned his back to the crowd. A brass band joined him for “All of the Lights” and the venue seemed to shake beneath the song’s heavy kick drums. Kanye then exited the stage, only to return with Jay-Z. They performed “H.A.M.” together, then ran through a medley of songs they’re both featured on. “Swagga Like Us” kicked in, but Kanye lost track of the tune. “I forgot that one,” he admitted. It was Jay-Z’s turn to take over the set, and of course, diamonds were in the sky for “Public Service Announcement.” “Austin, Texas, if you’re having a good time with G.O.O.D. Music tonight, make some noise!” Jay said. Jay finished, appropriately, with “Big Pimpin,” the cut that features popular Texas-bred rappers UGK. Hov led the crowd in reciting the late Pimp C’s verse before leaving the stage. The show switched back to Kanye’s newer material, and when “Lost in the World” began, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon took the stage. Dressed in black, staring straight down, he sang his haunting verse while Kanye returned to perform the rest of the song. Everyone from G.O.O.D. Music joined Kanye onstage to sing the chorus of the final song, “Good Life,” as West drew the show to a close. Related Photos 2011 SXSW Music Festival Related Artists Kanye West Jay-Z
