By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Josh Horowitz 50 Cent, Terrence Howard and Floyd Mayweather Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: Terrence Howard 50 Cent has invaded Hollywood with a string of roles alongside Tinseltown royalty like Al Pacino and Robert De Niro (“Righteous Kill”) and leading-man-in-the-making Chace Crawford (“Twelve”). We all know that the G-Unit General can make a hit, but after he and producer Randall Emmett inked a reported $200 million deal to launch Cheetah Films, don’t be surprised if the rapper’s future lies in making fans sit down to watch him on the big screen instead of hitting the dance floor. He hasn’t left New York for the West Coast just yet, but Terrence Howard said 50 is a more than capable actor. The two worked together on Fif’s first film, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” And according to the veteran actor (“Hustle & Flow,” “Crash,” “Ray”), he actually learned more from 50 than the other way around. “One of the things that I learned, the hardest thing to do is be still,” Howard explained. “When you don’t know what to do, be still. He mastered that. And therefore, when he jumped forward and has something to say, he spoke the truth with it. That’s a genius. That’s what makes great film work. He was there from the beginning. I actually learned more from watching him, ’cause he taught me to be still.” In addition to his film ventures and wrapping his next album , 50 Cent recently joined Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the Sundance Film Festival for the launch of the boxer’s Mayweather Productions . Eminem Producer Alex Da Kid Wants To ‘Bounce Around Different Genres’

British producer has had a string of success with big records by Em, Nicki Minaj and B.o.B. By Jayson Rodriguez Alex Da Kid Photo: MTV News Producer Alex Da Kid knows that what appears to be his “breakout” run — with three scorchers in Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” Nicki Minaj’s “Massive Attack” and B.o.B’s “Airplanes” — is really him having the good fortune of multiple labels releasing his productions around the same time. He admits, though, that his phone has been ringing more lately as a result. The British producer started out as an intern at MTV overseas before he realized he had a different life calling. He flirted with FruityLoops , crafting beats he called “the worst,” and went to school to study audio technology. One of his teachers was already well-connected in the music industry and helped mentor the budding producer. He hesitates to describe his sound, saying he wants to work with a range of artists. He does, however, own up to not being the best musician just yet. “I play guitar really badly, and I play keyboard really badly,” he told MTV News, laughing. “I’m like a bad musician. I grew up in London, and it’s like, New York, there’s a lot of different people and different cultures. I grew up around a lot of that. And my music is a reflection of that. I’m working on a lot of rock projects at the moment. I work on pop. I work on grimy hip-hop and everything in between. I don’t really box myself in. I wanna be like a new version of Quincy Jones, where I can bounce around in different genres and still be credible and still make it work. “I want all the money,” he added, playfully. Currently, Alex Da Kid is in the studio with Rob Thomas and Rihanna and submitting beats to the Clipse for their next project. He also recently inked his first artist, Skyler Grey, who helped him pen Rihanna’s chorus for Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie.” What do you think of Alex Da Kid’s work so far? Share your thoughts in the comments! It’s Eminem Week at MTV News, so stick with us as we celebrate the release of Recovery and take you inside the making of Em’s latest album. Another 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Remake Planned

Since one big-budget remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea clearly isn’t enough, here comes another. Because, of course. After it was reported over the weekend that David Fincher was circling an adaptation of the Jules Verne classic for Disney, now comes word that Fox and Scott Free Productions have been planning their own take with help from a script by Clash of the Titans co-writer Travis Beacham (yes, that film did have a script). The studio wants the incredibly busy Timur Bekmambetov to direct, meaning this 20,000 Leagues will get made right around the time the Fincher-led version does: Never. [ THR ]
