Wendy Pepper Dies; Former Project Runway Contestant Was 53

Wendy Pepper, a memorable contestant who competed on the very first season of Project Runway, has passed away. She was 53 years old. According to The Washington Post, the reality star – whose real name was  Anne Eustis Pepper Stewart – died peacefully on Sunday surrounded by her family members and loved ones. The cause of her death was not revealed in the newspaper’s obituary. But here is what a portion of the memorial article said: A finalist on season one of Project Runway, Wendy designed and hand-sewed exceptionally beautiful clothes for children and adults. She was a chef, a writer, and a life-long entrepreneur. Her wit and humor were unmatched, as was her generosity of spirit. Wendy is survived by her parents, Anne Livingston Emmet of Washington and Charles Willing Pepper of Palm Beach, FL; her loving daughter, Finley M. Stewart, of Middleburg, VA; her brothers Wing Pepper, Stacy Lloyd and Thomas Lloyd; her sister, Edith Pepper Goltra; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Pepper advanced to the finals at Fashion Week and ultimately came in third on the opening Project Runway season. While on the program, she won numerous challenges, including the change to have one of her designs sold at Banana Republic and the opportunity to design Nancy O’Dell’s Grammy dress. She was a fan favorite for sure. Along with the inaugural run of Project Runway, Pepper also made an appearance during the second season of Project Runway All Stars, which aired in 2012 and 2013. Moreover, she appeared on a pair of other Bravo reality shows: Celebrity Poker Showdown and Battle of the Network Reality Stars. The late chef and designer was born in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Potomac School, the Madeira School, and the University of Washington.  Said Pepper in a Project Runway All Star video many years ago: “I realized I was a designer when I was living in Nepal. “Dyeing some yarn, I suddenly turned to these people that I was living with and I started to drape the yarn. Oh my gosh, this is so much fun, I am creating this whole sort of experience with these women. For me, fashion is communication…That’s when I knew this was my life’s work.” She also said Project Runway taught her that “if you really want to succeed, you’ve gotta be willing to throw yourself into the arena.” Pepper will be laid to rest at a Georgetown church on December 1. May she rest in peace. View Slideshow: 27 Reality Stars Who Died Way Too Young

Teen Mom New Jersey: Canceled Before It Even Aired!

MTV and the Garden State formed an unholy alliance years ago with the debut of Jersey Shore , a harrowing documentary series about the devastating impact of Ed Hardy shirts and tribal tattoos on one sleepy seaside town. Both parties experienced tremendous good fortune in the years that followed–MTV with the Teen Mom franchise, and Jersey with the slow, meatball hoagie-fueled decline of Governor Chris Christie. So hopes were high when it was announced that the network execs who gave us Snooki and the state that gave us Springsteen would once again be joining forces for Teen Mom: New Jersey . The project was announced over the summer, and MTV immediately cranked the hype machine up to 11. Within days, there was sky-high anticipation from the same demographic that made Teen Mom: OG and Teen Mom 2 smash hits. Social media pages were launched, and the identities of the show’s stars were teased as though they were the members of a new Simon Cowell-founded pop group. So you can imagine the waves of surprise and chagrin that rippled across the internet yesterday when The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported that MTV had pulled the plug on Teen Mom: New Jersey before the show ever made it to air. Yes, it seems that the show will never see the light of day, and its “stars” are every bit as confused as its potential audience. “Last weekend the girls on the show got calls basically informing them that the show isn’t going to air,” a source tells The Ashley. “They didn’t really give them an explanation—just the standard ‘We’re moving in another direction’ line. The girls are really upset because they’ve worked so hard on this project and were really excited for its premiere.” Details are scarce, but it sounds as though MTV simply passed on the show, presumably after getting their first glimpse at the finished product. It’s worth noting that the show was not produced by 11th Street Productions, the company responsible for the 16 and Pregnant and the original Teen Mom shows. It’s another reminder that you can capture lightning in a bottle twice, but not three times, as Teen Mom 3 so poignantly reminded us. Sigh. At least we’ll always have the original series. So practice some self-care and watch Teen Mom: OG online to get yourself through this difficult time. There will only ever be one Farrah Abraham, which is both tragic and wonderful news. Kevin Hart Reveals Secrets About Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle On Set

See the rest here:

Source: Sony Pictures / Sony Pictures Kevin Hart has teamed up with The Rock again for Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle . In this film, he plays a bully named Fridge, who gets sucked into the Jumanji game in a tiny body where things like cake and strength actually become his weaknesses. I went down to Hawaii with a group of journalist to check out the Jumanji set and got to talk to Kevin Hart about his role in the continuation of a loved story. I found out more about his character’s avatar, honoring Robin Williams and what his kids think when he does family-friendly movies. Check out our Q & A with funny man Kevin Hart. What can you tell us about your character? Kevin Hart: What can I tell you about my character? I play a small guy in a different world that’s complete opposite of the high school version of who this individual really is. But the thing that’s amazing is that who he is on one side is completely different from the person that he’s forced to be on the other side. With every movie that you do, you always want to make sure there’s an inside message, something that people can walk away and take from the film. I think we put a lot of small innuendoes in here that people will be able to kind of wink at and understand and agree with. You want to switch up what you can. You want to be different and separate yourself from other things that have been done. I think in this case, we’re doing so with all of the characters, including myself. Source: Sony Pictures / Sony Pictures Are you having fun with strength being your weakness? So far so good. You’ve got to find different humor. With the small persona of Fridge, that’s one note, so we wanted to find different things. In this particular case, Fridge is a bully. My character’s a bully, in this world, he’s forced to be a bully in a different statue. Without speed, without strength, a guy who’s allergic to eating cake, it’s a bunch of weird shit that we gave him, but it works, because we grounded it to where it makes sense. With Dwayne, how is your chemistry similar to what you guys had already built together, and how do you go off in different directions? Look, there’s chemistry, plain and simple. We’re good friends. We’re both professionals. We’re all about the project. How can we make the project better? It’s not about us as individuals or what star stands out the most. It’s about the movie. So for us, it was just getting the script right. How do we make the material right? Do our characters have an arc? Do our characters have a purpose? Do our characters have a reason to be rooted for or not rooted for? That’s the depth that we go through. When you have somebody that puts just as much time into a project off camera that they do on camera, it says a lot about that individual. In this case, it’s something that we both did. We worked on the script for months before, and we got here two weeks before to do rehearsals, and more stuff just to make sure that the chemistry is there, and it is. Were you a fan of the original movie? Yeah. I’m a fan of Robin Williams. I think that’s an important thing to bring up, because people think that this is a remake of the original “Jumanji,” and it’s not. It’s a continuation. You don’t touch what’s great and try to redo it. You just have to understand that there’s a generation that has no idea what “Jumanji” is, and that’s the generation of today, the social media generation, the younger generation. They don’t know. So having that game and that world continue, but to fit this mold, it’s a unique idea, and it’s something that we felt that we could bring a lot of light to. So in no way, shape or form are we disrespecting, or reshaping, or reforming the original “Jumanji.” This has nothing to do. It’s a continuation. Are you excited about your kids seeing this movie? My kids see everything. Spoiled. Kids will probably see it when they come here and see it. They just love to see daddy do stuff. They’re more excited about animation. When I do animation, my kids get happy. So “Secret Life of Pets 2” and “Captain Underpants,” that’s all they focus on. They don’t care about this shit.
