Britney Spears to Join The X Factor For $15 Million, Sources Confirm

It’s actually happening. Britney Spears is going to become a judge on The X Factor , with a deal pending to pay her $15 million for the role, E! News reports. “Both camps were going back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee,” says one insider with knowledge of the contract. “That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it’s been sorted.” “All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality.” Coming along for the ride with Britney is fiance Jason Trawick. A second source reveals that her soon-to-be husband will become a producer on the show. The source says of Trawick, who will soon gain control of her affairs : “Jason is expected to be there every day Britney is on set. He is her rock and will help guide her through the process. He is the person she trusts the most.” When final, the deal will make Britney Spears the highest paid judge on reality TV, eclipsing Jennifer Lopez’s $12 million for American Idol Season 11. Previous reports indicated that Spears wanted $20 million for the gig, but the show balked at anything over $10 million. Looks like they met halfway. Barring any last-minute setbacks, Spears will fill one of two X Factor judging vacancies after Simon Cowell fired Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. No word on who will join Britney, Simon and L.A. Reid on the panel. Reps for The X Factor and Fox would neither confirm nor deny this, however, a production insider tells E! News that “this is an exciting time for [Britney].” “It’ll be a fun project and she is welcoming the chance to mentor up-and-coming artists. She loves the idea of helping nurture emerging talent. She’s really looking forward to the project and being able to connect with fans.” The X Factor returns in September. What do you think of the decision to bring Britney on board? Project Glass: Google Demo Shows Off Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality Interface

Google’s Project Glass demo, unveiled earlier this week, offers a behind the scenes look at the future of artificial intelligence, at least as the company sees it. Through augmented-reality glasses, which Google co-founder Sergey Brin was spotted wearing, the tech behemoth demonstrates in the following video, from the wearer’s perspective, how they could be used during a day out in NYC: Project Glass In the demo video, the small screen on the glasses flashes information right on cue, letting the wearer to set up meetings with friends, get directions in the city, find a book in a store, and even video conference with a friend. Rapidly performing a vast array of smartphone functions, the Project Glass device itself is a small screen above the right eye on wrap-around glasses which have no actual lenses. The future is now. Or at least pretty soon.

PETA Calls Kanye A ‘Caveman’ After He Baits Them On ‘Theraflu’

‘What’s draggin’ on the floor is Kanye’s reputation as a man with no empathy for animals,’ PETA tells MTV News in response to Yeezy’s ‘Theraflu.’ By Rob Markman Photo: Theraflu/ Getty Images/ MTV News Not everyone is in love with Kanye West ‘s “Theraflu.” While Yeezy’s fans are fawning over his new track, PETA (or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) took exception to the song’s hook. “Someone tell PETA my mink is draggin’ on the floor,” Kanye spits in the song’s opening bars and then again on the chorus. Well, the animal-rights organization heard the Louis Vuitton Don loud and clear and fired back with a message of their own on Thursday (April 5). “What’s draggin’ on the floor is Kanye’s reputation as a man with no empathy for animals or human beings,” PETA’s senior vice president Dan Mathews said to MTV News in a statement. “He’s a great musician but doesn’t seem to have the fashion sense to design anything more than caveman costumes.” Seems like PETA also caught wind of ‘Ye’s fashion outing in early March when he presented his fall/winter collection during Paris Fashion Week ; the rapper used quite a bit of fur in his women’s line. PETA hasn’t closed the door completely on Kanye, however. They’re still hopeful that he will eventually have a change of heart. “We keep hoping that one day he’ll find his heart and join evolved style icons — including Russell Simmons, Pink and Natalie Portman — who have dropped animal skins,” Mathews said. The MC’s fashion taste isn’t the only topic addressed on “Theraflu.” Kanye touches on his ex-girl Amber Rose, Wiz Khalifa (Rose’s new man), and his feelings for Kim Kardashian. “The whole industry wanna f— ya old chick/ Only n—a I got respect for is Wiz/ And I’ll admit I fell in love with Kim/ Around the same time she had fell in love with him,” Kanye spits over the Hit-Boy-produced beat. He even threw a perceived shot a Kim’s ex-husband and New Jersey Nets star, Kris Humphries: “Lucky I ain’t have Jay drop him from the team.” What do you think of Kanye’s “Theraflu” track? Pauly D Getting His ‘Beast’ On With Label Boss 50 Cent

‘Pauly D Project’ star tells MTV News he is taking his time with debut album because he ‘really wants it to be great.’ By John Mitchell 50 Cent and Pauly D Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Pauly D is hard at work, making the kind of bold career moves that should help him keep his star status strong long after his days in Seaside Heights are behind him. The “Jersey Shore” breakout has been cataloging his exploits on his new spin-off, “The Pauly D Project,” which follows the star as he travels the world with his crew as an in-demand DJ and continues to pursue a recording career. Pauly signed with 50 Cent’s G-Note record label late last year and reportedly got right to work. “I’m focusing on music. That’s my passion,” Pauly said at the time. “I’m working with 50 Cent now. I’m gonna do an album with him. It’s going to be a little bit of everything. It’s almost like DJ Khaled and kind of David Guetta, but my own DJ Pauly D style.” So how is the album coming along? Apparently, quite well. “G-Unit’s going great. I’m working heavily on my album right now, trying to lock down some producers, some artists,” Pauly told MTV News. “I’m taking my time with it. I really want it to be great. I want the album to show my personality, just like my DJing does.” Pauly had nothing but praise for label boss 50 Cent, saying, “50’s a beast, man. He’s so smart when it comes to business, and he’s so talented. Him and I just clicked the second we met, so it was great.” The feeling, it seems, is mutual. While talking to MTV News in NYC late last month, 50 had nothing but good things to say about Pauly and his new show. “Well, Pauly D’s show is gonna be as — I don’t want to say more exciting than ‘Jersey Shore’ — I’ll say as exciting as ‘Jersey Shore’ to maintain the audience that ‘Jersey Shore’ had by itself,” 50 said. “He has a lot going on right now, and they’ll get a chance to go into his world, as far as his DJing and a lot of things he’s actually doing.” The “Pauly D Project” airs Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. It follows the new season of “Punk’d,” which is set to include appearances from superstars like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato. The future is now… Google Releases “Project Glass” Smartphone Eyewear Prototype Google is giving the world a glimpse of what life would look like through a pair of its futuristic augmented reality glasses. A video released by the company Wednesday shows how wearers of the high-tech specs can free their hands from technology — keeping everything at eye level. Like a smartphone attached to your head, everything — a phone call, a Foursquare check-in, GPS navigation, Twitter — is just a tap away. The glasses are Google’s first foray into wearable computing, and part of a secretive initiative called Project Glass, from a company laboratory known as Google X. “A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment,” Google wrote on its website. “We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input.” In the video, weather notifications, text messages and more are seen popping up inside the lenses of the glasses, directly in front of the wearer’s eyes. The latest is none other than the world’s hottest boy band: One Direction . Direction member Niall Horan broke the news on his Twitter feed Wednesday, writing , “In the studio with our boy @justinbieber last night, it’s gona sound great!” Band mate Liam Payne confirmed the Internet-shattering collabo, adding , “Got a first listen to Justin Bieber’s new album yesterday wowww big songs!!! It’s gunna be a smash … Expect the unexpected :O” Bieber seemed to enjoy the hang with his new pals as well, responding to Payne with the Tweet, “@Real_Liam_Payne Thanks buddy. Good chillin with u guys.” As the Huffington Post reported, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, seeded the promise of the shriek-inducing duet, tweeting about the potential One Direction studio action, “[A collaboration is] very possible. He likes them and thinks they are good dudes. All people of that generation should be there to help each other.” The singer is also making some beautiful music with his mentor and guiding light: Usher. On Wednesday, the Biebs tweeted that he was in the studio with, “@iawill and @usherraymondiv going in!” He didn’t reveal the name of the song Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am was working on for the pair, but followed with the (grammatically challenged) amped-up thought, “Me and @usherraymondiv gotta have a duet on every album.” They’re just a few of the superstars he’s recruited for the project. Mike Posner was the co-producer on “Boyfriend,” and other bold-faced names in the mix include Timbaland, Drake 
 and Pharrell, as well as possible assists from Lil Wayne, Ke$ha and Kanye West 
. Bieber has already landed a hit with the first single, “Boyfriend” 
 which sold 520,000 downloads 
 in its first week. He has plenty of other things to celebrate as well. On Wednesday, the Hollywood Reporter said that Bieber and Braun will pick up hardware at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival at the Disruptive Innovation Awards ceremony, where they will be honored for their contributions, “In the world of business, technology, arts, entertainment and beyond.” The April 27 ceremony will specifically pay tribute to the pair for the, “Historic discovery of Bieber on YouTube and his subsequent social media rise.” Related Photos Justin Bieber Gets Slimed At Kids’ Choice Awards! Should Adam Sandler Star in the Summer School Remake?

For some reason a remake of the 1987 comedy classic Summer School has been in development hell for years, and it may finally come to fruition under Adam Sandler ‘s Happy Madison banner. Though Sandler hasn’t yet threatened to star as the slacker high school gym teacher forced to start caring about education — a role played with Hawaiian-shirted panache by one Mr. Mark Harmon, and don’t you forget it — the possibility certainly looms over this project, as THR reports that Happy Madison is negotiating to produce. Take a trip down memory lane with the original trailer and decide: If not Sandler, who could fill Harmon’s sockless shoes? (And will there be a part for Kirstie Alley?) [ THR ]
