Trey Songz/Drake Album May Be Years In The Making

‘It’s all about when our career paths make the best sense to do that,’ Songz says. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Trey Songz Photo: MTV News Trey Songz and Drake have come together numerous times to work on hits for both the Virginia native’s albums and the Toronto lyricist’s mixtapes. But when exactly are the two going to make a joint project together? According to Trey Songz, a collaborative album between the two may not see the light of day anytime soon. “Drake had to put his first album out first,” Trey Songz explained to MTV News. ” Thank Me Later has done amazing, and I’m proud of him for that album. We’ll continue to work together and that [collaborative album] may not happen for years. But I think the thing with us, we continue to make music together and we do that organically. We’re friends outside of music so making music for us is easy. It’s all about when our career paths make the best sense to do that.” In the meantime, Trey Songz is promoting his recently released Passion, Pleasure & Pain and Drake is putting the final touches on his R&B mixtape, tentatively set for release next month. As a successful R&B singer who also raps, Trey Songz had some advice for his friend Drake, a rapper who also sings, regarding his project. He suggested the “Find Your Love” star keep track of which songs on the project are best to sing live. “Drake’s a great writer, has a great voice and makes great songs,” Trey Songz said. “The advice I would give him in making that mixtape is to make sure that he can perform those songs, because people will want to hear them.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Trey Songz Related Artists Trey Songz Drake

‘Easy A’ Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know!

We’ve been tracking Emma Stone’s teen comedy since its freshman year. By Kara Warner Emma Stone in “Easy A” Photo: Sony Pictures For people who love movies, and we at MTV News certainly do, 2010’s box-office offerings have been a little inconsistent. Nevertheless, if you’ve been passing up the mediocrity in anticipation of something worth your time and hard-earned dollars, “Easy A” is your reason to get back to the theater. Yes, we’ve gushed a bit about it all week, but it is that good. Nice girl/ semi-outsider Olive (Stone) makes a deal with a guy friend to pretend to have loud, crazy sex at a house party so the bullies at their high school will think he’s “cool” and leave him alone. But that one good-natured act soon spirals into many more “requests” from other similarly plagued students. Soon the high school rumor mill has been set ablaze with exaggerated accounts of Olive’s alleged exploits. And it’s finally in theaters! To celebrate the well-made and well-acted teen comedy that is “Easy A,” here is everything you need to know! When Emma Stone, a much-loved scene-stealer in films like “Superbad” and “The House Bunny,” was announced in her first big starring role back in March 2009, fans were already excited about the project. Days before production began in June 2009, we learned which actors would fill out the hilarious supporting roles : Penn Badgley, Cam Gigandet, Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow and more. Shortly thereafter, we caught up with “Twilight” hunk Gigandet to hear about his role in the film. “I’m one of those characters who you think is one person, where he turns out to not be,” Gigandet said. Finally, almost a full year later, in May, we got our first look at the talented cast in action, courtesy of the . This only solidified our interest in the film. In late July, we stole a few moments with director Will Gluck , who heaped praise on Stone as a leading lady, as well as the rest of his talented cast. That was followed by our first exclusive clip , which is coincidentally one of the funniest sequences in the film. Stone’s quote/narration over the scene speaks for itself: “If people thought I was a dirty skank, fine. I’d be the dirtiest skank they’d ever seen.” And just recently, we sat down with the film’s stars to discuss the many quirks and charms of the film. Badgley dished on the most amusing rumor he’d heard about himself, and Stone revealed how filming a fake sex scene induced an asthma attack. Earlier this week, it was finally time for the film’s premiere , where Stone and her co-stars shined, along with several other fashion-forward stars, including Taylor Swift and Keke Palmer. Trey Songz Talks ‘Building’ ‘Bottoms Up’ With Nicki Minaj

‘She came to the studio for three hours and listened to my whole album,’ Songz says of their meeting. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Trey Songz Photo: MTV News A week before this year’s BET Awards, as Trey Songz was working on his new album, Passion, Pleasure & Pain , the singer thought to himself that Nicki Minaj would make for a good guest on the project. A week later, however, as he watched the awards show, he realized he wasn’t the only fan of the Lil Wayne prot

Unauthorized Harvey Weinstein Doc Lands Distribution

Rejoice! Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project — a documentary about exactly what it sounds like — has found a theatrical taker in IFC Films. It’s the distributor’s third deal of the week after TIFF acquisitions Super and Cave of Forgotten Dreams . According to a press release just over the Movieline transom, director Barry Avrich’s film is “a powerful, uncensored, no-holds-barred account that traces Weinstein’s path from concert promoter on the cold streets of Buffalo to his first trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where he arrived with one pair of pants and closed his first movie deal, to winning an Oscar, and breaking the bank with his first $100 million film.” Swoon. Eminem On His Concerts With Jay-Z: ‘Both Cities Were Crazy’

‘I think I just wanna go home. My feet hurt,’ Em said when asked if he would continue to tour. By Shaheem Reid Eminem performs in Detroit Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Thank you, and good night. Eminem and Jay-Z closed out the last of their four shows dubbed Home and Home. The two goliaths started at the beginning of the month at Detroit’s Comerica Park , and on Monday and Tuesday nights, they rocked Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Right before returning to the stage Tuesday night to perform “Renegade” with Young Hova, Eminem, his DJ Alchemist, and D12’s Mr. Porter stopped to speak with Shade 45 ‘s Angela Yee. When asked to reflect on his stadium trek, Em simply said, “Both cities were crazy. I had a lot of fun.” Mr. Mathers was more interested in talking about his skills on the court. He went on to brag about shooting J’s in the eyes of Royce Da 5’9″ and Alchemist. Em also appeared on Sunday’s season finale of “Entourage.” In his scenes, Shady set it off in the club, with a right cross to the face of the series’ lead character, Vince Chase. Chase, high off cocaine, called Em out in the club and was punished. “It was great to be on ‘Entourage,’ ” Em told Yee. “I love the show. I’m a huge fan of it.” When asked if he’ll get back into headlining in films like he did with “8 Mile,” he says if the project is right, he’ll jump at the chance. “We just haven’t got the right script yet,” he said. “We’ve had a couple of things here and there, but nothing’s jumped out. It’s gotta be something that makes me wanna stop doing the music. It’s gotta be good enough to make me wanna stop doing that. I love it so much.” Em downplayed the Home and Home series being the spark for a proper tour. “I don’t know, man. I think I just wanna go home. My feet hurt,” he laughed. According to 50 Cent, Em has been back in the lab. Earlier this week, Fif tweeted that Em is reconnecting with the G-Unit. “Banks got a really heavy album. Hunger for More 2 is gonna be classic! Me Em, Kanye, on it. The 23rd is gonna be big,” 50 wrote . Do you want Eminem to tour across the country? Let us know in the comments! ‘The Hunger Games’ May Have Its Director

‘Seabiscuit’ director Gary Ross is in talks to helm adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian young adult novel. By Amy Wilkinson Gary Ross Photo: Todd Williamson/ WireImage The director reaping is nearing an end: Gary Ross is in talks to direct the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ critically acclaimed young adult novel “The Hunger Games.” Lionsgate, the studio co-producing the film along with Color Force’s Nina Jacobson, is in early talks with the director, Deadline reports. Over the past few weeks, the studio has been meeting with a who’s who of directors including “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” helmer David Slade, Sam Mendes, Andrew Adamson, Rupert Sanders and Susanna White. Ross is an Oscar-nominated director and writer, known for his work on “Seabiscuit,” “Pleasantville” and the comedy “Dave.” Deadline emphasized that Ross has not been locked in, but that he is the studio’s choice, pending negotiations. “The Hunger Games” is the first installment of a trilogy focusing on 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen. Katniss lives in a dystopian version of the U.S. called Panem, which is divided into 12 districts and ruled by a capricious Capitol. To remind the districts’ citizens of their failed great rebellion, every year eavh district must send two of its children into a televised glorified death match known as the Hunger Games, where the last kid standing wins. Katniss, who has long been feeding her family by hunting with bow and arrow on the sly, volunteers to take her young sister’s place in the games. While she fights for survival, she also finds herself in a torturous love triangle and an underground movement to overthrow the government. Upon its release last month, “Mockingjay,” the third book in the trilogy, debuted at #1 on both the New York Times and the USA Today best seller lists. Collins was also named on Time ‘s 100 Most Influential People list of 2010. Along with potential helmers, much talk has surrounded the casting of the coveted lead role of Katniss. Names from Kristen Stewart to Chloe Moretz have been mentioned in connection with the project. It can be assumed that once a director is in place, casting will begin in earnest. Al Pacino, Joe Pesci May Join De Niro/Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’

Actors are reportedly considering roles in movie about mob assassin Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. By Adam Rosenberg Al Pacino Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Robert De Niro is re-teaming with “Goodfellas” and “Casino” director Martin Scorsese for a project that is equal parts mob movie and Federico Fellini-inspired dream reality. Called “The Irishman” and based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses,” De Niro told MTV’s Josh Horowitz in April that some plans were cooking to perhaps divide the film into two parts. There’s been no additional news on that front, but the project is inching closer to reality with today’s possible casting news. Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are reportedly “circling” roles in “The Irishman,” according to a Deadline report. Scorsese is currently working on the 3-D film “Hugo Cabret,” starring Chloe Moretz, Jude Law, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley. “Irishman” is one of several possible projects he could move on to next. The book “I Heard You Paint Houses” focuses on the life of mob assassin Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, the supposed killer of Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Gallo. The movie’s script comes from Steve Zaillian, though De Niro told MTV in April that Eric Roth (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) is writing as well, for the potential two-film idea. In De Niro’s words: “We have a more ambitious idea, hopefully, to make it a two-part type of film or two films. It’s an idea that came about from Eric Roth to combine these movies using the footage from ‘Paint Houses’ to do another kind of a [film that is] reminiscent of a kind of ‘8 1/2,’ ‘La Dolce Vita,’ [a] certain kind of biographical, semi-biographical type of Hollywood movie — a director and the actor — based on things Marty and I have experienced and kind of overlapping them.” “La Dolce Vita” and “8 1/2” are works of the late, great Italian filmmaker, Federico Fellini. The latter film is a semi-autobiographical work about a director who is laboring over an elaborate sci-fi production. The story is peppered with flashbacks and dreamscapes that enter into the director’s present-day reality. MTV speculated in April that a similar plan could be in the works with Roth, particularly given the long history of mob films that Scorsese and De Niro have done together. Pacino and De Niro have teamed before, for Michael Mann’s “Heat” and Jon Avent’s “Righteous Kill.” Pesci and De Niro have worked together as well, with Scorsese, on the classics “Goodfellas,” “Casino” and “Raging Bull.” “The Irishman” would mark the first time the foursome have worked together in one movie.
