1 Through 19: Let’s Rank the Films of Ridley Scott

Because we’re a little more than two weeks away from the opening of Prometheus , and because the Film Society of Lincoln Center opens its complete, week-long retrospective of his films this Friday in New York, because it’s a quiet morning otherwise and because it’s gone so well with other directors in the past , let’s rank the 19 feature films of Ridley Scott. The order is obvious: [NOTE: Scott’s ” Final Cut ” of Blade Runner and ” Director’s Cut ” of Kingdom of Heaven are considered herein.] 19. A Good Year 18. G.I. Jane 17. 1492: Conquest of Paradise 16. Robin Hood 15. Body of Lies 14. Hannibal 13. Matchstick Men 12. White Squall 11. Black Rain 10. The Duellists 9. Legend 8. Someone to Watch Over Me 7. Kingdom of Heaven 6. Black Hawk Down 5. Blade Runner 4. Thelma & Louise 3. Gladiator 2. American Gangster 1. Alien Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Dissecting the Trailers for ABC’s Most Promising New Shows

The rest is here:

“Why just watch when you can feel’” That was the question ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee put to advertisers while pitching next year’s lineup at the network’s upfront presentation. Those are awfully grandiose words for someone affiliated with The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars (both returning next year), don’t you think? The shows that apparently weren’t living up to this lofty guiding… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Film School Rejects Discovery Date : 15/05/2012 22:15 Number of articles : 2

Fox has been going all-out with the last couple weeks of promotion for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus, and as I’ve said before, we’ve hit the point where I’m trying not to watch too much of the new clips and trailers. Prometheus Spoilers: The Latest TV Spot Has Them, And How

Technically the plot of Prometheus is still fairly unknown from the trailers and clips Fox has unleashed, at least insofar as what it is that befalls the intrepid space crew that ventures into unknown horrors in Ridley Scott’s June sci-fi action thriller. But the latest TV spot seems to reveal an awful lot of said horrors — flashes of frights and things and scenes that seem to give good reason for that R rating — so watch at your own risk, because these 30 seconds are at once both awesome and a tad too revealing. Spoilers ahead! Behold, the squirmy delights ahead of us all in the June 8 release. All those times Ridley Scott waved away Alien connections as relatively loose associations seem moot after seeing space snakes crawl up into someone’s head and glimpsing whatever it is that’s going on in Noomi Rapace ‘s belly. “Get it out of me!” is the new “Cut it out!” of Prometheus promo catchphrases. And can we just talk about that hulking space man for a second? I have no idea what is actually going on here, but I’m getting flashes of Sunshine , if you know what I mean. Taking all speculations in the comments below. [via i09 ]

Space Suit Party! Is This the Most Adorable Prometheus Cast Photo Or What?

Here’s just what you need to keep that Prometheus mania going: A batch of fantastic Prometheus photos and stills featuring Charlize Theron , Michael Fassbender , Noomi Rapace , Logan Marshall-Green , and others from the cast in their spiffy (and skin-tight) Prometheus space suits. It’s a space suit party! Oh, the laughs Charlize and Fassy and Noomi share when they’re not on set staring ominously into the distant at unknown horrors, or resting those space helmets on those sassy hips. The adorbs moment below comes from an exclusive photo shoot for EW’s May 11 issue, which includes great looks from the set along with in-character portraits of the cast. Thankfully (?) these photos don’t seem to give away any spoilers, so you can click through to your heart’s delight and take notes for crafting your own homemade Prometheus Halloween costumes. But seriously, Hollywood: What is the deal with all these micro-textured hero costumes? Oh, nevermind. These space suits are pretty sick. Love the futuristic-retro take on classic space-age design. Can’t wait to see if space-chic catches on this summer. Head to EW for the full batch of photos. Prometheus hits theaters on June 8. [via EW ]

Prometheus Rated R, According to… Movie Ticket?

Speculation has swirled for a while now about whether or not Fox and Ridley Scott would pursue a PG-13 rating for its blockbuster hopeful Prometheus , which, if previews and disgusting animated GIFs are any indication, has plenty of raw sci-fi terrors to back up an R. But one fan who locked up an advance ticket to the film might have unintentionally solved the ratings puzzle. Collider passes along the accompanying photo, which an IMDB user apparently nabbed in advance over the weekend and passed along with the giddy declaration: “AS PROMISED!! CHECK THE LINK ABOVE, PROMETHEUS IS RATED R!!!!” ZOMG, etc. Sorry, kids! May I suggest Bully ? [ IMDB via Collider ] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Prometheus International Trailer: This is How You Sell a Movie

On the one hand, the difference between the domestic and international trailers for Prometheus is staggering: The former sells atmosphere and legacy while the latter sells both of those and story (and Charlize Theron, I guess). On the other hand, they have the most important component in common: They sell the hell out of Ridley Scott’s Alien throwback. Can anyone wait? Me neither. This is how you do it, Hollywood. [ ENTV ]

WATCH: Prometheus Viral Wishes Happy Birthday To Michael Fassbender-Robot

The Prometheus campaign’s Guy Pearce TED Talk from the future was pretty clever, but there’s an uncanny brilliance to this new viral spot that focuses on Michael Fassbender ‘s android character, David. In a fictional ad for Weyland Corp., “David” outlines the advanced features and tech that make him a perfect robot — able to assimilate into the human work force, think on his own, and even cry. But something tells me all will not turn out to be muted pastels and obedience and robot smiles once the space poop hits the fan… Fassbender’s ability to play just a shade on the wrong side of human is wonderfully jarring, but the sight of him “emoting” with those two tears rolling down his pre-fab cheeks is the single best thing I’ve seen in a while. Chilling! Intriguing. And yet it doesn’t seem to give away too much about the still-mysterious Prometheus . What do you make of the viral spot and what it tells us about David? Prometheus is in theaters June 8. [via Joblo ]
