WATCH: ‘Kiss Of The Damned’ & ‘Hemlock Grove’ Videos Are All About Sex & Horror

Sex and horror have long been cinematic kindred spirits for decades now, whether you’re talking The Phantom of the Opera ,   Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho , the Hammer horror films of the 1970s, the Friday the 13th franchise or Re-Animator . And in today’s crowded media marketplace the dual themes seem to have become even more prevalent — and graphic. The last 24 hours have seen the release of two film clips that mix gore and sex in memorable ways. Check it out: Today, for instance, JoBlo.com posted an exclusive video from Xan Cassavetes va-va vampire flick Kiss of the Damned . The movie, which features Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough ,  hits theaters on May 3, though you can watch now on VOD. (Vampire on Demand). In the trailer below, two couples engage in some heavy making out, and one ends with some rather severe tissue damage. That will make you think twice about giving in to passion. Kiss of the Damned, Indeed! And then there’s the latest trailer to Netflix’s Eli Roth -produced horror series,   Hemlock Grove .  Although it’s not nearly as hard to watch as the bone-cracking, eye-popping werewolf transformation we posted last week, it is seriously weird from the get-go. Don’t miss the red-band warning that alerts viewers to “mild fornication, fellation, heavy cocaine use, lesbian necrophilia and violent hemorrhaging.”  (Really?  That’s meant to be a deterrent?) As one character says midway through the trailer, “What the fuck is going on?”  You will probably agree with him, since right after that scene, there’s a sequence where a woman kisses the very pale, open-eyed corpse of a women, and then a quick cut to a shot of what appears to be the same woman screaming over the fact that the dead woman’s severed torso is crawling with maggots. What the fuck is going on, indeed!  Is some sort of lesbian necrophilia hygiene issue being played out here?  You know, I love kissing dead girls, but dead girls crawling with maggots have….cooties!  If that’s the case, the lesson is similar to the one that the unlucky male victim in the Kiss of the Damned trailer learned too late. If you’re going to be overcome with lust, then do some research beforehand. Kissed A (Dead) Girl: That’s a tough act to follow. [ JoBlo ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter. ‘American Psycho’ Parody — Huey Lewis Kills In Funny Or Die Bit

Until today, I associated Huey Lewis’ name with two thoughts:  1) He was the musical artist behind some of the most annoying pop hits of the 1980s; and 2) he showed his penis in Robert Altman’s 1993 film Short Cuts .  But now that I’ve seen him in this Funny or Die American Psycho parody clip, I’m seriously considering forgiving him for giving me a decade-long headache and adding him to my list of secret geniuses. The clip is a real mind-fuck: it’s satirizes a scene that satirized Lewis’ music in a movie that satirized 1980s commercialism and greed, and it also stars master parodist (and longtime secret genius)  Weird Al Yankovic in the victim role originally played by  Jared Leto . (I’ve included it below for the sake of comparison.) How’s that for meta? Lewis’ aping of Christian Bale’ s performance, while the original scene plays on a TV right next to him, is particularly impressive, and I love Yankovic’s crack about the newspapers covering the floor. And the coup de gras is that the clip is used to promote the back catalogs of both artists.  The Funny or Die clip features “I Want A New Drug,” off Lewis’ most successful album, Sports , which turns 30 in September. That single spawned Yankovic’s “I Want A New Duck,” which was not one of his best, and, well, let’s just say he pays for his sins.  I swear, you could build an New York University Tisch School of the Arts class around deconstructing this clip. The other secret genius involved in this enterprise: Funny or Die director/editor PatB , who also did the very funny “Oscar’s Best Handjob Award” video, which I’ve posted at the bottom. I hope there’s a feature in this guy’s future. Nadya Suleman: Porn Debut "Liberating, Empowering"

Nadya Suleman will do anything to make ends meet, and tells Oprah Winfrey she has no regrets about some of the suspect ways she’s done so. The mom of 14 appeared on the March 19 episode of OWN’s Oprah: Where Are They Now? On it, she defended the infamous Octomom porn . Octomom OWN Interview “Years after I had [the octuplets], my manager and I collaborated together on doing an independent, um, self-pleasure video,” Nadya Suleman says. “I did it, obviously, to provide for my family. I don’t regret it. Shockingly, it became one of the most liberating and empowering things I had ever done.” We could think of other words to describe it, but whatever. After shooting her porn film, Suleman danced topless at strip clubs on several occasions … and went to rehab for anxiety, exhaustion and stress. “I became beyond, beyond exhausted! I can’t tell you how exhausted … I actually was starting to crack,” Suleman recalls of her rough patch last year. “And then it got worse, the panic. All these panic attacks! So I asked for help. I called it a ‘life rehab.’ I went to a treatment program for 30 days.” “There was a team of doctors and psychologists assessing me and diagnosing me, and I was diagnosed with, um, post-traumatic stress disorder.” The single California resident, who is being investigated for welfare fraud there, adds, “In other words, someone, um, who’s like a soldier in war.” “I feel like I’m still at war sometimes!” So do we, Octo. So do we.

Light of Day, Part 2: Paul Schrader Taking Wait-And-See Approach To Lindsay Lohan’s Plea Deal

News of Lindsay Lohan’s plea deal puts her one step closer to a comeback. Back in February, I wrote that if Lohan could avoid going to jail over charges of reckless driving and lying to police and reinstitute some self-discipline into her life, her raw performance in Paul Schrader’s The Canyons  could mark the beginning of her redemption as an actress. Details of Lindsay Lohan’s Plea Deal As of this afternoon, Lohan can check off that first box on what could be the path back to a productive acting career worthy of her talent. As USA Today reported,  she and her legal team, led by Mark Jay Heller, struck a plea deal with prosecutors in which the Herbie Fully Loaded actress will do 90 days in a lockdown rehab facility and 30 days of community service. She’ll also undergo psychological counseling for 18 months. The newspaper reported that, following Lohan’s court date,  Heller told reporters outside the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse, “I am very confident that you won’t be seeing Lindsay Lohan in any criminal courts any time in the future.”  He also explained why Lohan took the plea deal: “At the conclusion of this case, Lindsay will have a completely clean record. And I think that’s an extremely important element to this case.” The Canyons Director Paul Schrader’s Reaction To LiLo’s Sentence When I first heard about the outcome,  I emailed Schrader to get his reaction. When I interviewed him for post I wrote in February, the Affliction  director hinted that he was interested in working again with Lohan.  (The New York Times reported that Schrader was interested in casting in the lead role for a remake of Gloria,  — about a mob moll and a six-year-old boy being chased by hitmen and law-enforcement officials — that originally starred the great Gena Rowlands.) The filmmaker’s response was cautiously optimistic. Schrader wrote he and his wife, actress Mary Beth Hurt, had dinner with Lohan last week at Minetta Tavern in Greenwich Village.  Lohan, he wrote, “saw the film again and is enthusiastic to promote it. There will be international festival appearances in the future which she hopes to attend. We also discussed future work but, for now, we wait and see how the plea bargain plays out.” One Lingering Cause For Concern: Lindsay’s Dad, Michael Lohan Sounds promising. Now, if only Lohan could put more distance between her and her attention-starved father who seems to have no shame about turning his daughter’s legal woes into a press opportunities for himself.  Here’s what USA Today reported about Daddy’s post plea-deal performance: Heller was quickly chased away from the press conference by Lohan’s father, Michael, who was present during the hearing. Michael Lohan then took to the microphones and proceeded to bash Heller, accusing him of not keeping Lindsay posted on negotiations. Michael said that Heller needs to “stop using Lindsay to make money and a name for himself.” However, the actress’ father did say that the sentence to rehab would probably be a good thing for her. Papa Lohan is doing a bit of projecting here.  Someone should get him a muzzle. Report On ‘Capturing The Friedmans’ Sex Abuse Case Urges DA To Overturn Jesse Friedman’s Conviction

Jesse Friedman just got some more ammunition in his efforts to overturn his 1989 sex-crimes conviction made famous by Andrew Jarecki’s Oscar-nominated documentary Capturing The Friedmans. Although Friedman, then 19, and his father Arnold, pleaded guilty to several hundred counts of sexual abuse in a case that rocked his hometown of Great Neck, NY, he has long since maintained his innocence, and a white paper issued by The National Center for Reason and Justice indicates that his exoneration is overdue. The report, which is titled   Destruction of Innocence: How Coerced Testimony & Confessions Harm Children, Families & Communities for Decades After the Wrongful Convictions Occur.  was authored by Emily Horowitz, Ph.D. and Gavin de Becker, a violence and predation expert and author of The Gift of Fear.    The 42-page report, which can be found in its entirety  here , contains new evidence and witness statements pertaining to the case and urges Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice to overturn the conviction.   (In 2010, Rice launched a review of the case, which is expected to reach a conclusion soon.) The NCRJ report indicates that the Friedman case contains the 10 hallmarks of false sex crime prosecution: “Police Misconduct; Absence of Physical Evidence; Absence of Medical Evidence; Outlandish or Impossible Scenarios; Prosecutorial Misconduct; Judicial Misconduct; Coercive Interviews by Police and Therapists; Improper Relationship Between Police and Therapists; Use of Now-Discredited Memory-Recovery Techniques and Hypnosis; Police & Prosecutors Fuel Community Hysteria.” It also reveals: No child ever made any allegation or complaint against Jesse until  after  the police launched their investigation; The first 30 children questioned by police said they had not been abused; All charges against Jesse arose from statements of child witnesses – and all were based on statements made after the application of suggestive questioning methods; Children who attended classes alongside every one of the 14 complainants now confirm they saw no abuse in those classes; There was  no physical or medical evidence  ever presented against Jesse Freidman; All of the above and more was known by prosecutors and illegally withheld from Jesse’s defense lawyer, and There was clear misconduct on the part of police, prosecutors, and the judge. In 1988, Friedman and his father Arnold were charged with hundreds of counts of sexual abuse that allegedly took place during a computer class they taught in the family’s Great Neck, NY home.  The charges came after police found Friedman’s father’s stash of  pornography depicting adolescent boys in the house. Friedman, who’s now in his mid-40s,  was released from prison in 2001 after serving 13 years of an 18-year sentence. (His father committed suicide in prison in 1995.) With the help of Jarecki and experts in wrongful conviction, he has set about clearing his name, and in the last few years has made headway. A 2010 decision by the Federal Appeals Court for the Second Circuit declared there was “a reasonable likelihood that Jesse Friedman was wrongfully convicted.”  According to that decision, new evidence introduced by Jarecki and by Friedman’s legal team in the years since,   shows that police and psychologists interviewing kids at the time used hypnosis and other “memory recovery techniques” that have since been shown to produce false memories and accusations.  The court also suggested that allegations were elicited from children as young as eight years old by harsh interrogation methods and that Jesse’s guilty plea was the result of pressure by a biased judge who told Jesse’s lawyer that she intended to sentence Jesse to life without parole, a technique widely held to be “impermissibly coercive. In January,  one of the Friedmans’ alleged victims Michael Epstein revealed that he had lied about having been sexually abused in the computer classes in order to put an end to the therapy sessions and repeated questioning he received as a result of the investigation. Kevin Clash: Accusers Have No Right to Sue Given Statute of Limitations

Former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash is trying to get all three of the lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct by him dismissed, citing statutes of limitations. He stands accused of inappropriate sexual relations with boys under the age of 18; Clash previously denied all of the allegations against him. Clash attorney Michael Berger wrote in a brief Friday: “There are two applicable types of statutes of limitations , a six-year one based on when the right of action has accrued, and a three-year one based on when the alleged victim turned 18 and was therefore no longer under the disability of being a minor.” According to Clash’s camp, both have lapsed. Cecil Singleton , the first to file suit against the former Sesame Street staple, said in court documents that his interaction with Clash occurred in 2003. He was 15 at the time. He stated that he wasn’t “aware he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash’s sexual acts and conduct until 2012.” The second plaintiff, who filed as John Doe, said in his suit that he was 16 when he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with Clash in 2000. A third plaintiff, identified only as S.M., charged in a complaint that he was “16 or 17” when he had sexual contact with Clash in the mid-1990s. Yet another man, Sheldon Stephens , accused Clash of similar behavior before settling out of court … then saying he wishes he hadn’t settled. Berger states in today’s filing that the three men suing Clash would have needed to file suit, respectively, in 2009, 2006 and 2001 to be within six years. Or, based on their respective ages, in 2009, 2003 and 2000, respectively as the latest possible dates to be within three years of them turning 18. All three suits were filed in November and December of 2012. Jeff Herman, who represents all three plaintiffs, tells E! News he doesn’t think a motion to “avoid liability on technical grounds” will be successful. “It should be noted his motion does not say the abuse did not happen, just that it is too late to file the complaints,” Herman told the network in response. “The law we are proceeding under recognizes the rights of victims to bring their lawsuits within six years from the time they connect their injuries to the abuse.” “We are hopeful the Court will see it our way, however, by being able to bring their claims forth publicly the victims are already further along in the healing process.”

Lindsay Lohan Lying-to-Cops Case: Should She Do Legit Jail Time?

Lindsay Lohan’s attorney will be back in court Friday for a hearing in the actress’ latest criminal case, as discussions continue about a possible plea deal. The 26-year-old isn’t required to attend. She’s too busy partying . Just kidding. Although that may not actually be far off at all. The hearing is intended to deal with any issues before a March 18 trial on charges that LiLo lied to police about a car crash and was driving recklessly. Attorney Mark Heller has tried to bargain on his client’s behalf, but Lindsay rejected a plea deal that would have required she go to rehab for 30 or 60 days. Her reason for turning that down? She says she doesn’t have a problem, obviously – why seek help when you’re totally fine and everything’s great?! Clearly, Lohan and Heller are not in sync here. Heller alleges that cops didn’t read her her rights, which is BS, and wants to delay the case so Lohan can seek psychotherapy and set up her foundation. Lohan was on probation at the time of the accident and she faces additional jail time if a judge determines she violated her sentence in a 2011 theft case. Basically, barring another legal Hail Mary or willingness to go to rehab, she could be back behind bars. At least for 88 minutes or so like the last time. Would that even do Lindsay good, though? Maybe rehab would take this time, but she hasn’t shown much (any) effort to change her ways in the past, and clearly her “jail” visits don’t do much. She’s out of control and never takes responsibility for anything. Even ardent LiLo defenders can’t deny that. The only question is how to best help her. If someone doesn’t throw the book at her one of these years, will the pattern ever change? If the spiral continues, Lindsay – or others – could get hurt. Is legit jail time the only answer? Vote:   Yes, that train wreck brat will never learn otherwise! No, quit trying to make an example out of her, haters! View Poll »

Lindsay Lohan Plea Bargain: REJECTED By Moron!

This girl is either crazy like a fox or just full-on crazy at this point. Lindsay Lohan has rejected a plea deal that would have kept her out of jail in her lying-to-cops case, opting to take her chances at trial. Why, you ask? Because she’s totes innocent and doesn’t have a problem, OBVI! Her lawyer, Mark Heller, has been trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat this week, and was close to a deal with Santa Monica and L.A. City prosecutors. They insisted that the actress accept a significant amount of time in a residential rehab facility – and NO JAIL TIME – but Heller still wasn’t having it. Prosecutors even bent a little and offered somewhere around 30 days rather than the 60 they initially wanted her to be in rehab, still Heller didn’t accept. The deal fell through, however TMZ sources say ” negotiations are ongoing .” As expected, Lohan and Heller are reportedly not on the same place here. He’s willing to accept a deal that involves counseling and rehab, even BS’ing that she would undergo extensive psychotherapy and set up a youth foundation. To Lindsay, though, this is all just “punishment for something I didn’t do.” Always in denial, never taking responsibility. Not that we’re surprised, but Heller said earlier this week that she had finally seen the error of her ways. Guess that’s what happens when you try to speak for Lindsay Lohan . In the end, prosecutors aren’t worried if they can’t strike a plea bargain, because they like their chances if it comes down to trial, beginning March 18. Lohan is charged with lying to police regarding her June car crash, and for violating her probation as a result. Both aspects could land her in a jail cell. Take the plea deal and go to rehab, girl. For your own legal sake as well as your life expectancy and that of anyone who happens to live near you.
