Maybe these guys are some of Ricky Rozay’s BFF’s Atlanta Police Arrested In Drug Dealer Protection Investigation Via AJC Federal authorities announced the arrest of 10 metro law enforcement officers Tuesday on charges of arranging protection for a street gang’s drug deals. “Obviously the breadth of the corruption is very troubling,” said U.S. Attorney Sally Yates . “It is certainly the most (officers) this office has charged in a long time.” The case began as a street gang investigation by the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, whose undercover agents learned that gangs had officers on the payroll for protection, Yates said. The FBI took command of the public corruption aspects of the case. At least one officer recommended that the gang use a school parking lot to exchange drugs for cash because trading backpacks there would not look suspicious, Yates said at a 2 p.m. news conference. The law enforcement officers arrested today were: Atlanta Police Department Officer Kelvin Allen, 42, of Atlanta; DeKalb County Police Department Officers Dennis Duren, 32, of Atlanta and Dorian Williams, 25, of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Forest Park Police Department Sergeants Victor Middlebrook, 44, of Jonesboro, Georgia and Andrew Monroe, 57, of Riverdale, Georgia; MARTA Police Department Officer Marquez Holmes, 45, of Jonesboro, Georgia; Stone Mountain Police Department Officer Denoris Carter, 42, of Lithonia, Georgia, and contract Federal Protective Services Officer Sharon Peters, 43, of Lithonia, Georgia. Agents also arrested two former law enforcement officers: former DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office jail officers Monyette McLaurin, 37, of Atlanta, and Chase Valentine, 44, of Covington, Georgia. The report goes on to say… Some of the officers were retired and some were active duty. The highest rank was sergeant and the payoffs ranged as high as $7,000 per transaction. Each transaction involved at least five kilograms of white girl, which carries a 10 year minimum sentence, Yates said. Officers were involved in multiple transactions, provided escorts to dealers and buyers and offered to provided muscle if necessary to protect their clients, Yates said. Yates said the investigation is ongoing and declined to say whether more officers would be arrested. ATF Special Agent in Charge Scott Sweetow would not name the street gang involved but he suggested the public corruption aspects would be more far-ranging. “I can say this is probably not the last you will be hearing of this case,” he said. The White House is still answering for “skeet-gate” and defending the release (and timing) of the photo of President Obama firing a gun in August 2012. With Obama’s much-publicized remarks on gun violence in Minnesota scheduled just days later, many felt the photo release was a cheap stunt. “Why did the White House release the skeet shooting photos three days before this trip?” a reporter asked White House press secretary Jay Carney. Carney said the WH received questions about Obama skeet shooting, “so we decided to tweet a photo of the president shooting at Camp David.” Technically, this is true. President Barack Obama had been asked by the New Republic ‘s Franklin Foer in an interview published on January 27 if he’d ever fired a gun. “Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” Obama said sending gun rights advocates, the press and the public into a frenzy. The picture was memed all over the Internet, while Obama opponents cried foul and even some supporters shook their heads in bemusement. Carney was asked for photo evidence, but none initially was provided. A Congresswoman asked if she could shoot with him sometime. No response. The main issue is that Obama made the statement while pressing Congress and the public to support gun control measures following the Newtown massacre. Skeet-Gate reeked, to critics, as a PR move. Monday, former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod added to the criticism, saying the White House should have put an end to Skeet-Gate sooner. “They should have put the [ Obama gun photo ] out earlier. I don’t know why they waited five days to put that out,” he said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe . “Because it just rekindled the whole story.” Carney defended the move and stressed Monday that the president’s personal time spent with friends and family at Camp David is not publicized. “I think he has gotten better” at skeet shooting, Carney said, reiterating that our 44th president has never claimed to have grown up “a hunter.”
The pregnant Jessica Simpson is moving from reality to scripted TV, signing on to star in a new sitcom pilot for NBC , according to a new report. The show is said to be based on her life … which is apparently funny. Nick Bakay ( Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Zookeeper and ‘Til Death ) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Electus’ Ben Silverman and Jess’ dad, Joe Simpson. “I am so excited to work with Ben and NBC again,” Jessica said. “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life.” “Between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!” Electus founder and chairman Ben Silverman added: “We are thrilled to team up with the multitalented Jessica Simpson to bring this new sitcom to life on NBC as she is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops.” “From running a fashion empire to her public image as a new mom, Jessica’s character [will] approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud.” Simpson’s life has largely been spent in the public eye, from her early pop music success to MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica and beyond. Recently, the now 32-year-old has starred in to other reality shows, Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty on VH1 NBC/Electus’ Fashion Star .
