This is so sad: A 3-year-old girl comforted herself with her favorite toy and ate cheese , leftover lasagna and milk for two days after her mother died unexpectedly in their New Zealand home. The girl’s uncle, Pete Silbery, told The Associated Press on Friday that Shylah Silbery managed to open the fridge and comfort herself with a teddy bear named “Possum” after Lauren Silbery, 28, died. The family last spoke to Lauren Silbery on Oct. 19, he said. Two days later, they were worried enough to call a friend who lived near her Wellington home. The friend could see the girl inside the home, but not the mother, prompting the family to call police, Pete Silbery said. Police coaxed Shylah to drag a coffee table to the door so she could reach the lock and unlock the door, before she told them, “Mummy won’t wake up,” Silbery said. “I can only imagine her in there for that long, trying to wake Mum up as well,” he said. Shylah spent several days in a hospital recovering from dehydration and diaper rash. “She’s doing OK now. She’s still bubbly,” he said. “When we lowered the coffin into the grave at the cemetery, though, she pointed at it and said ‘Mummy’s in there.’ It was pretty heartbreaking.” According to the Taranaki Daily News, the girl’s grandmother said she knew Lauren Silbery was dead as soon as she walked into the house with the authorities. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy but don’t believe Lauren Silbery’s death was suspicious, Wellington police spokesman Victoria Davis said. The New Zealand Herald reported that Silbery was found face down near her bed, which indicates she may have died from a stroke or a heart attack and fell out of bed. Shylah Silbery was in the care of Child, Youth and Family, but her family was hoping to get custody, the Herald said. Awwww, we hope the best for this little girl! Source

SMH. You know it’s about to be the holiday shopping season when people are getting so dumb and desperate that they would really think that it was a good idea to buy an an iPad from some random shady stranger in a gas station parking lot…. Police are warning that fake iPads are being sold in parking lots across the nation. Officers in Georgia and Florida have contacted Grand Prairie, Texas detective Alex Chasteen after seeing reports on scammers he helped bust. “I have leads from Florida to Georgia to Mississippi,” Chasteen said. “I recently got a call out of Atlanta, where a detective saw the piece that had been done earlier with NBC 5.” The Atlanta officer is working on more than 30 incidents of people duped into buying fake iPads. The thieves typically park in gas station parking lots and then approach people asking if they’re interested in buying an iPad. Often, they show a real iPad to the victims at first. When they convince a victim to make a purchase, they then pull a FedEx box out of a car trunk that contains what looks like an iPad in bubble wrap. When the victims open the box later, they find a Plexiglas frame covered in black duct tape with an Apple symbol on the back and Best Buy price labeling on the front. Man, slanging fake iPads in gas station parking lots will certainly get you caught for sure. Source

If you’re a fan of HBO’s original programming, you already know that Kid Cudi likes to think he’s an actor and is actually tolerable in “How To Make It In America.” So, hyped up by the dozens of “Domingo” groupies who have probably entered his life, Crudi decided to make a movie. An artsy movie. With all original music. Where he doesn’t really say much, and what little he says is in no way, shape, or form intelligible. Sounds like something someone else did around this time last year, doesn’t it? There is one major difference between “Runaway” and “Maniac” though: while Kanye just chose to be criptic with the language, Cudi decided that he and his fellow American co-star Cage needed to speak entirely in French during the whole movie, which was shot in New York. Problem is, you don’t even have to speak French to know how HORRIBLE these two are at it. In any case, here you go: Kid Cudi’s “Maniac,” directed by Shia LaBoef. By the way: if you don’t like violent and bloody things (or you’re under 18) you shouldn’t watch this.

It’s about damn time!! “In Living Color” is coming back to life. At least for a little while. Fox announced on Friday that they will revive the classic 90s sketch comedy show in the spring of 2012, airing at least two TV specials that will be hosted and executive produced by the show’s original co-creator, Keenan Ivory Wayans. During a revolutionary run between 1990 and 1994, “In Living Color” gave the sketch format an edgier, urban twist, and launched the careers of the large Wayans clan — Damon, Shawn, Marlon and Kim all co-starred — as well as David Alan Grier megastars such as Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx. Jennifer Lopez, who led the Fly Girls dance troupe on the show, also got her big break from the series, as did her fellow dancer Rosie Perez. The network said that the “modern-day take” on the classic “will feature a new cast of fresh, young talent, as well as musical performances by special guests.” Air dates have yet to be announced. We just hope that these “specials” aren’t some lame attempt at reviving a legendary franchise with some lame comedians . We have faith in you Keenan! Don’t disappoint us!!
