Source: Paras Griffin/Greg Doherty/Getty / Getty Joyner Lucas Exposes Tomie Lahren’s Twitter DM This weekend we posted Joyner Lucas’ new music video for his single “Devil’s Work”. In it, the rapper asked that God remove Tomi Lahren and Laura Ingraham from this earth in exchange for someone more valuable to society. While Ingraham hasn’t responded, the thirst bucket that is Tomi Lahren leaped at the opportunity to achieve relevancy by not only responding to Joyner on Twitter, but also sliding into his DMs. View this post on Instagram I wonder how this conversations gonna go @tomilahren A post shared by Joyner Lucas (@joynerlucas) on May 6, 2019 at 7:17am PDT While we fully recognize that Joyner is all for the controversy surrounding race issues based on his critically panned “I’m Not Racist” music video, we hope that he realizes that he’s being played. Tomi Lahren only wants to bait him into a conversation that will make him look crazy and drive millions of views to her videos. It’s a zero-sum game and by no means should he engage in such tomfoolery. That said, we’re 100% sure Joyner is going to engage in the tomfoolery. SMH.

Source: Bertrand Rindoff Petroff / Getty Virgil Abloh Blasted Online For Lack Of Diversity On Staff Virgil Abloh’s brand Off-White staff has been criticized for having a staff that’s way too white. Not gonna lie I thought @virgilabloh would have some black people working with him but I’m not surprised pic.twitter.com/TLqb0CEbLb — lil shorty bulgogi (@wsupden) April 30, 2019 He received a ton of backlash this week after he posted photos from a recent Off-White event he attended with his employees. The pictures posted included some shots of the brand’s graphic team and art director and Abloh’s followers were quick to point out the lack of diversity among the staff, which led to people accusing him of not supporting other black creatives. Upset about being called out, Virgil responded to the criticism on Friday afternoon, posting photos of all the POC creatives he has worked with. The list features Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, Serena Williams, Heron Preston, Tremaine Emory, Andre Walker, and Fabien Montique. After posting some other responses to the criticism, Abloh concluded his series of Instagram stories with these words: “Follow my whole design team. Support their creative ideas. Buy their clothes. Attend their events. Like their photos. Be global. Travel. Eat different food. Listen to techno. Walk don’t Uber. Love your neighbor.” Soon after responding on his own social media pages, Virgil also provided a statement to Hypebeast about the rumors spreading online. He said: “My design team is diverse as the world is big. The video shown was an Off-White dinner at the headquarters in the city of Milan, Italy. This party was to celebrate the hard work of the local Italian team.” Off-White also sent out a statement on the matter, which you can read below: “When questioned about diversity, Virgil Abloh takes pride in being African and American. His design team is diverse, and his practice has been built on making the art and design industry an inclusive community. Fellow designers like Samuel Ross, Heron Preston, No Vacancy Inn – by Tremaine Emory and Acyde Odunlami, Everard Best, Photographer Fabien Montique, amongst many others have been given a platform via Off-White . These are just a few of the many global voices and people sitting at the table and helping evolve the brand. Off-White is a black founded and owned business.” “He wishes to use this moment of being questioned to be a moment of reflection within the industry to showcase the talents behind their design entities and push to have a design community that represents the outside world.”

James Madison High School will turn away parents if they show up at the school wearing bonnets, pajamas, hair rollers or leggings. https://t.co/oUM9MxAd9f — Houston Chronicle (@HoustonChron) April 23, 2019 For discussion…. James Madison High School Principal Enforces Parent Dress Code There’s a HUGE debate happening on social media and it involves respectability politics, a Houston high school and a BLACK Principal that’s being labeled “elitist.” James Madison High School Principal Carlotta Outley Brown (above) is catching hell after she sent out a memo to parents banning them from wearing certain items of clothing to pick up their kids. “Parents, we do value you as a partner in your child’s education,” said Principal Brown in a letter to parents dated April 9. “However, please know we have to have standards, most of all we must have high standards. “No one can enter the building or be on the school premises wearing a satin cap or bonnet on their head for any reason,” she added. You also cannot wear a shower cap of any kind in the building.” Other banned items include bonnets, pajamas, hair rollers, leggings and sagging pants. KPRC-TV Houston reports that the dress code was established shortly after a parent attempted to enroll her child while wearing a headscarf and a “T-shirt dress.” You can see her in the below video. Parents (and social media) are crying foul and claiming that Principal Brown is being an elitist and classist. “I’m almost insulted,” Tomiko Miller, the mother of a Madison High School student told The Houston Chronicle. “I really think it was discriminatory, the language that was used. It was demeaning. And I’m African American — and if it’s misty outside and I have a hair bonnet on, I don’t see how that’s anyone’s business.” Zeph Capo, president of the Houston Federation of Teachers, is calling Principal Brown’s policy “classist,” “belittling” and “dismissive.” “I’m sorry — this principal may have plenty of money and time to go to the hairdresser weekly and have her stuff done,” he said. “Who are you to judge others who may not have the same opportunities that you do? Having a wrap on your head is not offensive. It should not be controversial.” Do YOU think this dress code policy for parents is fair or foul??? Is this classism or is she just encouraging decorum?
