Penn State football uniforms will look different in 2012. The iconic navy blue jerseys will feature player names on the back for the first time, along with blue ribbons to support victims of child abuse. The decision to add names was made “in recognition of (their) resolve and dedication to the team and the university,” according to a statement. The blue ribbons speak for themselves. Penn State uniforms have been widely known for their simple design and lack of a name across the back, but this is a different program now. Coach Bill O’Brien said in May that the uniforms wouldn’t change from the design favored by Joe Paterno, but apparently had a change of heart. The fallout from the Jerry Sandusky scandal was immense as a committee found Joe Paterno and Penn State culpable as well as the child molester himself. The university’s statue of the coaching legend, now deceased, has been torn down. In 2012, the uniforms will further signal a new era at PSU.
Apparently Kanye West and his ” Perfect Bitch ” can actually do something aside from pose for the paparazzi. In a new spot for the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye and Kim Kardashian are actually seen interacting for the first time (for marketing purposes, of course), as they appear opposite comedian/event host Kevin Hart. The subject of the commercial? Threesomes and couple nicknames, of course. Topics very close to Kim’s heart. Despite Elton John claiming her career is over , no one told the raucous Russian crowd as they cheered the Queen of Pop’s every controversial move. Elton John has fired yet another salvo in his strange, ongoing feud with Madonna, slamming the recent antics of the “f–king fairground stripper.” Whoa. During an interview with Australian TV show, John bristled at the mere mention of the singer, saying, “She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over.” He didn’t stop there, ranting that “she looks like a f–king fairground stripper” and ripping her recent gun-pulling stunt and dance-pop catalog. “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made another record like Ray of Light,” he added, “and stayed away from the dance stuff.” The 65-year-old John said that the Queen of Pop should “just be a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.” John’s beef, or at least the latest iteration of it, may stem from her quasi-feud with Lady Gaga, godmother to Elton’s 19-month-old son, Zachary. “[Madonna’s] been so horrible to Gaga,” John told Sunday Night . In May, Madonna performed a curious mash-up of “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself” that many saw as a Lady Gaga diss , not a tribute. John’s feud with Madge goes back to 2004, when he accused her of lip-syncing, a point he reiterated earlier this year before the Super Bowl.
