Let’s be real now — are we really feelin’ Willow Smith’s getups? 10-year-old Willow Smith was recently named an “American Fashion Icon” by Derek Lam, who was asked for his favorite celebrity picks by Vogue Magazine. Vogue editors asked a number of designers to name their style picks. Other ladies to make the list include: Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, actresses Michelle Williams and Cate Blanchett, model/filmmaker Christy Turlington and U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama. Pop stars Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are also highlighted by Tommy Hilfiger, who says, “With Taylor’s energetic charisma and Katy’s edgy charm, they look as good in a casual summer dress as they do on the red carpet.” Ummmmmmmmmmmm really? As for Willow, Derek Lam described the actress and pop star as: Naturally talented, charismatic, unblemished optimism, with the whole wide world open to her possibilities and abilities. I think she is the future-forward American icon.” We think that most of what he said is true, but think that her style could use a lil editing. What do you think? We’ve gathered a collection of some of her most memorable ‘fits below… Have a look and weigh in on whether or not she deserves the American Fashion Icon honor:

Question Of The Day: Do You Agree With Willow Smith Being Called An “American Fashion Icon”?
When we spoke to Olivia a couple of weeks ago, she mentioned a new addition to the “Love & Hip-Hop” cast. Today, we know who she is and it actually makes a lot of sense when you think of the rest of the cast. Do you know who’s BM is going to be cashing in those reality checks next? Juelz Santana’s girlfriend Kimbella, who is also the mother of his 10-month-old son, will be the newest cast member to join VH1′s top rated reality show “Love & Hip Hop” a source told AllHipHop.com. Juelz met the model and mother of two on the social networking site Twitter and the two have been inseparable ever since. Kimbella, who is currently on the cover of Black Men Magazine’s June issue along with Keyshia Dior and Charm Killings, will be branching out to expand her career into acting and music. Kimbella discussed her career in a previous interview with AllHipHop.com, conducted prior to her being cast in the reality show. “I’m trying to transition into acting and singing,” Kimbella told AllHipHop.com. “I’m launching my pop career and as we speak I’m recording in the studio. My sound is definitely not Beyonce, but more of a Fergie, Rihanna type sound.” Oh boy. At least these two seem to have a pretty drama free relationship. Flip through for more pics of Juelz and Kimbella all bunned up and their little bundle of joy.

Businessman Herman Cain is becoming very popular amongst the people, but could he earn YOUR vote? Bolstered by support from his loyal radio talk-show audience and Tea Party backers, businessman Herman Cain has revved up mainstream conservatives, rising recently to third place in a poll of voters in Iowa, the leadoff caucus state. In his pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination, Cain’s views on the economy and his fiery delivery have resonated with some in the GOP. His campaign has also been marked by controversy, including his comment that he would not want a Muslim bent on killing Americans in his administration. Just this week, Cain accused comedian Jon Stewart of disliking him because he is an “American black conservative.” Already losing some of his cachet to Tea Party favorite Michele Bachmann, Cain, the lone African-American GOP candidate, is trying to win over a party that hasn’t had a black nominee. Sidestepping race as an issue in his campaign may have helped him gain momentum in recent weeks, but whether he can turn vigor into votes will depend largely on voters’ ability to look past his skin color and perceive him as a serious candidate. Here is what some people who support Mr. Cain. “He’s fresh, he’s outspoken,” said Debbie Dooley, head of the Georgia Tea Party Patriots. “If they hear him speak, he usually wins them over. With him, what you see is what you get. People like that.” “He doesn’t believe in the whole business of race being a defining factor of anything in this country,” said William Boone, a political science professor at Clark Atlanta University, which is predominantly black. “He says, ‘If you work hard, you will make it. Look at me.’ “There’s a buzz on the street among activists. People like him; they want to know more about him. That’s sort of living the dream as far as a presidential candidate goes. He’s getting the kind of reaction every candidate imagines.” This all sounds like glowing praise, but the question still remains can he get people to believe in him how they believe in Barack Obama, and show up at the polls on voting day. How do you feel about a black republican candidate? Source

SMH… just because a white guy gets nominated for an NAACP award, quotes Bill Withers, rocks cornrows and blazes trees doesn’t mean — nevermind. So Playboy had an extensive interview with Justin Timberlake and he managed not to pull a John Mayer . Read the interview to find out how JT answers the “Black” question, and a lot of other ones. Check out the interview below: PLAYBOY: Let’s start with sex. Your new movie, Friends With Benefits, has lots of it. What was it like letting it all hang out? TIMBERLAKE: I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t completely awkward. I couldn’t tell you the number of people in the crew watching me and my bare ass, but it was a lot. The producers and I agreed we would shoot a big chunk of the movie before we got down to the sex scenes, which was a good idea. That allowed Mila and me time to get comfortable. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to go all out for this. In fact, when they first gave me the script, this was a PG-13 movie. I didn’t think it was funny enough. I said I didn’t know how you could have a movie called Friends With Benefits without embracing the “benefits” part. PLAYBOY: You and Mila certainly look as though you’re enjoying each other’s company. TIMBERLAKE: You have to, and we did. We just wanted it to be funny, but we wanted it to look real, too. Most of the sex scenes are actually played for laughs, and she’s such a gifted comedian. There’s a whole scene in which I have to pee during sex, and it gets into how tough that is and how women just don’t understand the completely different parts men have. That was a lot of fun to shoot, but a lot of the time it was just me making a fool of myself. You can’t be shy with comedy even when you’re standing there naked. PLAYBOY: Was there a penis sock involved? TIMBERLAKE: You wear the proper ornaments, yeah. But I’m used to it. I shot a pretty explicit sex scene with Christina Ricci in Black Snake Moan. It’s totally weird, but you just jump in and do these things. You rock out. PLAYBOY: The big question Friends With Benefits raises is whether men and women can have sex without getting emotionally involved. Is that possible? TIMBERLAKE: God, I’m the worst person to ask about that. I don’t know. I don’t think I’ve ever had that type of relationship. I get hooked on every level when I get close to someone. If you build enough chemistry to want to be intimate like that, someone’s going to catch feelings, and usually it happens quickly. PLAYBOY: Your other big summer movie, Bad Teacher, co-stars your ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz. What were the feelings there? TIMBERLAKE: It sounds complicated to everybody else, but it wasn’t to us. Honestly, the only thing I was worried about before I said yes to that movie was being asked that question. I knew at some point we’d have to promote the film and people would say, “Oh my God, that’s so weird that you two dated for four years.” I don’t know what else to say except the truth, which is that we’re friends. We don’t talk to each other all the time, but we respect each other, and on some level we’ll always love each other—but in our new capacity as friends . I think the world of her. We did have one very funny scene in Bad Teacher. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t say too much about it. I’ll go out on a limb and say it is the most unique dry humping you’ll ever see in a film. PLAYBOY: If you do a quick Google search on the women in your life, you come upon a litany of grand theories. A fling with Johansson was supposedly the reason you broke up with Cameron Diaz. Mila Kunis was supposedly the reason you broke up with Jessica Biel. Others insist it was Olivia Wilde. Care to set the record straight? TIMBERLAKE: None of it’s true, so I shouldn’t even dignify it with an answer. The thing is, I’m not going to sacrifice my friendships with people who are my co-stars I meet in the business. I’m not going to avoid spending time with people because someone who doesn’t know me makes assumptions about what’s going on. That’s bullsh*t. I don’t know who sits around behind a computer screen making the shit up, but at a certain point you just have to shut it off. I can’t look at the stuff anymore. My life is not on the internet. My life is right here, right now. PLAYBOY: But it’s no secret you’ve had a string of high-profile relationships. Wouldn’t it just be easier sometimes to have a relationship with, like, the girl from the dry cleaners or something? TIMBERLAKE: Technically, I guess. But you can’t help who you have feelings for. If you turn it off because someone is famous, then you’re being unfair to yourself. You could walk down each of those roads and find pros and cons. The girl from the dry cleaners is not going to understand how I feel about the work schedule and pressures I have. You probably gravitate toward people who understand your scenario. At the end of the day you just want someone who gets you, who can be a friend. That’s kind of the point of Friends With Benefits. As corny as it sounds, the “friends” part counts just as much as the “benefits” part, if not more. PLAYBOY: By the way, how many sit-ups does a guy have to do a day to look like you do in those Friends With Benefits nude scenes? TIMBERLAKE: I did go on a diet for that movie, which mostly came down to not drinking as much beer. And you know, beer is good, so that was hard. I’m pretty thin anyway, but I didn’t want to look like a meathead. I was like, I’m about to be 30, and I’m going to be naked on camera. If I’m going to do this, I’m going to train pretty hard. In the end, I just did more cardio, and I pumped up the stuff I already do throughout the year, such as playing sports. I like basketball and golf and snowboarding, and I do them pretty fu*king intensely. Keep reading for Justin on music, movies, N’Sync and why he relates to Bill Withers…

We don’t think we’ve heard of Beyonce being booked to appear on three festival stages her whole career. All of a sudden, she’s scheduled for three in one year. Already scheduled to headline the Glastonbury Festival in England on July 26, Beyonce has also been added to perform at back to back events in Ireland and Scotland at the beginning of July. She will hit the “T On The Park” Main Stage in Scotland on July 9. The next day, Bey will bring her legs and lacefront to Ireland’s Oxegen Festival. Now, if this were someone else, we might not bat an eyelash at the news. But we find it interesting that she seems to be trying to cultivate a better rapport with her U.K. audiences.

Ambassador Susan Rice, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, marked the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day on March 8 in East Harlem, New York. There she urged tomorrow’s strong woman leaders, the 11th- and 12th-grade classes of The Young Women’s Leadership School (TYWLS) of East Harlem, to continue to win their future through education. Ambassador Susan Rice speaks to roughly 120 students and staff from The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem on March 8, 2011 These young women, primarily low-income students of color, have a remarkable legacy to uphold: for ten straight years, every single senior at TYWLS of East Harlem has been accepted to college with significant financial aid. Ambassador Rice spoke to roughly 120 students and teachers who gathered in the school’s multi-purpose gymnasium on 106th Street. “There is no greater source of empowerment and success,” she said, “than to have, and to insist upon getting the best education.” After the event, Ambassador Rice met and snapped photographs with Jo’Nella Queen Ellerbe, Marjana Chowdhury, and Tiara Kittrell, seniors who have been accepted to prestigious universities and who delivered introductory and closing remarks on Tuesday. Together with their classmates, these young women carry on with their “most important asset,” as Ambassador Rice called it: “the education that you are getting, and the education that you will continue to get when you leave this great school.” Source

Yesterday afternoon, the buzz machine behind the New York Post’s Page Six Magazine released an “exclusive” quote from their big Chris Brown feature in which he, of course was “talking about Rihanna once again.” Every entertainment blog and website picked up the quote , noting how, once again, Chris Brown was being exactly what the media has painted him out to be over the last two years: unapologetic and self-absorbed. The headlines were all pretty much the same, and everyone had something to say about it, including a domestic violence group which issued a statement so fast, it almost seemed like they had the press release ready and waiting for Chris to f*ck up once again. Here’s the problem with all that: CHRIS BROWN NEVER SAID HE WAS TIRED OF APOLOGIZING ABOUT THE RIHANNA INCIDENT. In fact, the quote released to the media was actually pulled from Chris’s answer to a question about what advice he would give his younger self. The bigger quote leading into that statement and the previous quote released about “being blackballed” spoke nothing about Rihanna and all about the meaning of fame in his life and both meanings of his album F.A.M.E. “Fame is what everybody seeks,” he says. “I get an adrenaline rush from it. But fame is basically love and hate all in one. Without bad, there is no good. Without good, there is no bad. But when [most] people see certain things happen to somebody, they usually turn away. They don’t want to get involved with it because they don’t want their name attached to anything negative. [Now] They wanna get on the record. They wanna let me back in the door. The last two years, everybody dissed me. But my fans were so dedicated. The way I look at it is, you can’t walk around mad, because then you just prove everybody right that you’re an angry person. So F.A.M.E. means “Forgiving All My Enemies” and “Fans Are My Everything.” Because I”m dedicating it to my fans.” Beyond the fact that the quote was about his album, the feature in Page Six Magazine was meant to focus on BreezyArt and Chris Brown’s newly rediscovered love of visual art. Bottom line: Chris Brown has completed his court mandated anger management courses and the majority of his community service. The judge overseeing his probation has said more than once how impressed he’s been with Chris’s progress. He has released three successful singles leading up to this album. He was even nominated for a Grammy for a mixtape track. At which point does the focus go back to his music? SMH.
