19 Kids and Counting Sneak Peek: Derick Gets Ready to Propose!

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting fame recently got engaged after a courtship that included a lot of skype and no frontal hugs. Okay, they did break the courtship rules at least once. Fortunately, we know how it works out in the end. By now, they’re happily engaged and all set up with a Wal Mart wedding registry and everything. Tonight, though, we get to see it unfold on TV! While the eldest Duggar daughters are out promoting their new book, Derick makes plans to pop the question. After getting permission from Jim Bob Duggar to ask for Jill’s hand in marriage, will he be able to pull off an intricate proposal without Jill catching on? If this teaser released by TLC is any indication, we’re not sure. Guy seems more than a little nervous about this and not exactly stealthy. At all. Nice fella though. Clearly a nice fella. Watch the clip: 19 Kids and Counting Clip – Derick Gets Ready to Propose Good luck, D. Good luck. SO Many Duggars 1. They aint got no worries… Kevin Hart Attends Miami Heat Game With Girlfriend Eniko Hollyweird comedian Kevin Hart and his girlfriend Eniko seemed unphased over the drama with Kevin’s ex wife Torrei last week as they coupled up courtside on Memorial Day at the Miami Heat playoff game. Kevin has mentioned that he’ll be ready sooner than later to put a ring on it and make a wife out of Eniko so, we wouldn’t be surprised if he popped the question before the summer is over. Speaking of Kevin, former NBA daller turned sports commentator Shaq also took a playful shot as his vertically challenged homie on Instagram earlier today. For Discussion: Is It ‘Racist’ To Only Date Within Your Own Race?

Preference To Strongly Date Within Own Race Is Considered Racist? Anti-Swirling is not a good look??? One Slate Magazine writer says it is indeed racist to prefer to date within your own race. Via Slate: A few weeks ago, OkCupid, the popular “freemium” dating service, started offering its paid subscribers a very cool new tool. Rather than just sort through potential dates by using familiar filters like age and height, you could use the answers OkCupid members gave to various questions, such as “Do you like to watch sports on television?” or, my personal favorite, “Do you find British comedies entertaining?” Questions are an important part of what makes OkCupid work. The site nudges you to answer as many questions as you can stand, and it also nudges you to make your answers public, as you can only see the answers of potential dates if you disclose your own answers. Answering questions allows OkCupid’s fancy algorithms to identify people who might be a good fit for you. Though these algorithms can be cleverly gamed, the basic idea that answering questions honestly will allow you to find people who share your sensibilities, goals, and quirks makes intuitive sense. In a somewhat similar vein, one of OkCupid’s questions reads as follows: “Would you strongly prefer to go out with someone of your own skin color/racial background?” I was struck by the not inconsiderable number of people who answered “yes”—including some people I know “in real life,” many of whom are hilariously self-righteous about their enlightened political views. Keep in mind that OkCupid users can skip a question with ease. The people who answered this question had every opportunity not to do so. What I found surprising about the fact that a fair number of people answered that they would indeed strongly prefer to go out with someone of their own skin color/racial background was not that this phenomenon exists in the world. Racial preferences in dating are quite common, and women appear to exhibit stronger same-race preferences than men. Rather, I was surprised that people would be willing to openly state that they had strong same-race preferences. One assumes that many people who do have such preferences would either chose not to disclose them publicly, or chose to skip the question entirely. Is a strong same-race preference something one ought to be ashamed of? Or is it enough to say that the heart wants what it wants and to leave it at that? This is a more important question than you might think. To be sure, dating is about more than the sharing of bread, and OkCupid users who express strong racial preferences may well be doing the world a favor by being open and honest about their wants. But I don’t think it’s too much to ask those who do express such preferences, and those who live them in practice, to reflect on them, and on how there might be more to fighting racism than voting “the right way.” Discuss… Shutterstock

Really??? GOP Congressman Implies The Civil Rights Act Which Ended Black Employment Discrimination Might Be Unconstitutional [Video]

And these creepy azz…people expect to lead our country?? Republican Congressman Ted Yoho Suggests Unconstitutionality Of Civil Rights Act Via ThinkProgress Last week, former presidents and dignitaries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, which bans many forms of employment discrimination and whites-only lunch counters, among other things. This week, a Republican congressman declared that he’s not sure if the Civil Rights Act is even constitutional. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), a freshman congressman aligned with the Tea Party, held a town hall Monday evening in Gainesville where he fielded a wide range of questions from constituents. One such voter was Melvin Flournoy, a 57-year-old African American from Gainesville, who asked Yoho whether he believes the Civil Rights Act is constitutional. The easy answer in this case — “yes” — has the benefit of also being correct. But Yoho found the question surprisingly difficult. “Is it constitutional, the Civil Rights Act?” Yoho repeated before giving his reply: “I wish I could answer that 100 percent.” The Florida Republican then went on to strongly imply it may be unconstitutional: “I know a lot of things that were passed are not constitutional, but I know it’s the law of the land.” Hear the racist undertones spill from horse’s mouth below SMH… Image via YouTube

Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry: Married!

Sara Gilbert married her longtime girlfriend Linda Perry on Sunday, almost one year ago after the singer-songwriter popped the question in an L.A. park. Gilbert opened up about the news on her hit CBS talk show, saying: “I happened to be talking about gay marriage and I thank you all for your support on that issue. That was before I had any idea about any of this.” “I’m super shy and don’t usually want to tell anything … But I wanted you guys to know because I feel like you’re a part of our family here.” According to Gilbert, Perry planned a romantic proposal with a backup guitar player and brass band that she put together specifically for the big event. “We go to a park … it’s really sweet and there’s this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician, and he starts playing a song that we love,” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s so weird, this is so magical and amazing.'” “So that ends, and she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna ask him to play this other song,’ but this other song is really obscure and this guy wouldn’t know it, but magically he knows it.” The next thing that The Talk star knew, she said, fellow picnickers pulled out instruments and joined the guitarist to serenade the couple with “Love Song.” At which point, Perry put on a series of T-shirts that each had one word, finally forming the question “Will You Marry Me?” Which is the best proposal ever. Congratulations to the couple on their marriage!
