Rain Brown Praised, Scolded for Equality Message!

You may not think of Alaskan Bush People as the best platform for progressive ideals, but you should remember that the Brown family is made up of real people with a lot more depth than could ever fit into a reality series. The family’s youngest, Rain Brown, uses social media for a lot more than just delivering updates on her mom’s health and speaking about her battle with depression . She also uses it to promote wonderful messages about making the world a better place. And she’s getting some well-deserved praise (and undeserved hate) for it. Before posting her own miniature essay on equality in the captions, Rain posted an existing image that reads: “I am a nasty woman because I believe in love, acceptance, equality, kindness, respect, and the power of my voice.” Though Rain doesn’t say so herself, this quote was inspired by Ashley Judd who, at the Women’s March, recited a poem by 19-year-old Nina Donovan. And, obviously, the “nasty woman” line was inspired by what Trump so infamously said about Hillary Clinton at the debates. Instead of giving background on the quote contained within the image that she posted, Rain wrote in her own words about the importance of equality and what it means to her. “Equality is SO important.” A simple statement on its own, but very true. “No one it’s better no matter their sexuality, skin color, or gender.” Also true. “We are all people, it’s so sad to me that we are living in 2017 and STILL we are not all treated equal, if you’re different, good!” She’s such a sweet person. We have to wonder what brought on this topic, right? She had previously improvised a song in which she joked about being better than the listener, but this was just her hitting back at trolls who fill her Instagram comments. So … what prompted Rain to talk about equality? We’re not sure, exactly. But Rain does talk about how the issue of equality impacts her, personally. “You actually had the power and strength to stand up for something, and something that is NEVER discussed in media is age equality.” To be clear, she’s not equating ageism (which can impact the young and old, if in different ways) with slavery or anti-LGBT bigotry or anything like that. But it’s a topic that, she’s right, doesn’t get talked about enough. “Just because I’m 14 doesn’t make me less of a person then a 60 year old our time spent on this earth or how we spend it shouldn’t change the way people treat you.” Rain Brown may be referring to her recently revealed battle with depression , which she says was dismissed off-handedly because of her youth. (When, in fact, adolescents are more vulnerable to depression than most other groups; with symptoms exacerbated by hormones, a depressed teenager should get the counseling and medication that they need) But Rain is not trying to make the message of equality all about her, of course. She’s just talking about how it relates to her, personally. “For everyone out there that is sad or been bullied or lied to it happens to literally everyone.” Unfortunately, that is true. “So just don’t return the favor, basically what I’m getting to is, all my life I’ve wanted to change something and so many people tell me I can’t, but I already have, even if no one agrees with me I still made them think.” She’s right — don’t get mistreated and then turn around and do it to someone else. And it sounds like people don’t listen to her enough. Perhaps, because she’s the youngest, people can’t help but see her as a baby. But she’s not anymore. “And I’m not about to let anyone make me give up on my dream, my mission is to spread love and light on this dark world, join me be strong and fierce but kind and compassionate to your neighbors, life is all about balance.” So she’s not listening to trolls. Good. Commenters were quick to praise the young Alaskan Bush People star for her stance. “I liked you before this. Now I freaking love you Rainy!!!! Equality, respect, kindness, and acceptance are paramount in this world.” Very well said! “Your response is exactly what I would expect from a young women raised by an amazing mom. Thumbs up! I can only hope my 13 year old daughter learns your family values.” Awww, a shout-out to Ami Brown while praising Rain! Cute. “You are such an outstanding person.” And there were many more positive comments. There were, of course, some negative comments. Even though Rain is 14 and shared a positive message, some people just want to get into arguments. “Equality, acceptance, all good, but Romans chapter 1, God says diffrent.” We’re not going to get into an academic debate about Biblical passages, but … well, we’re pretty sure that Romans is attributed to Paul . (Honestly, that’s beside the point, because adults have no business going into the comments of a 14-year-old’s post and starting theological arguments or arguments of any other kind. She’s a kid; be nice or get out) “There is no such thing as equality. We are all different. Although well meaning ‘equality’ creates division. Males and females have different abilities on average and different races have different attributes. We must accept our differences and move on to be happy.” So that one’s, like, straight-up racist, among other things. (The “different races have different attributes” line is fine if you’re talking about, like, elves or orcs … not real-life people) “My advice is to listen to wise advice. ‘A Nasty woman’, is a nasty term from nasty feminists. I’ve always admired your mom for being a sweet lady, with so much faith, not a nasty woman.” That last hateful comment is best read in Gollum’s voice. We hope that Rain can set aside the hate, though. View Slideshow: Rain Brown: See the Alaskan Bush People Star’s Selfies That Get So Much Hate!

Briana DeJesus: All the Teen Moms Suck Except For Jenelle Evans!

As we reported earlier, Jenelle Evans endured a rather hectic trip to Los Angeles over the weekend. Along with her castmates, Jenelle was in town to film the annual Teen Mom 2 reunion special, and the situation got just a bit out of hand, even by the lofty standards of Teen Mom 2 reunion specials. Things started to go downhill when Jenelle’s husband, David Eason, got drunk, pulled a knife , and started stabbing balloons at a pre-party that was also attended by members of the Teen Mom: OG cast. (It was regular Teen Mom -con!) The absurdity only continued the next day, when Jenelle went off on both her mother, Barbara Evans, and Nathan Griffith’s new girlfriend, Ashley Lanhardt. Not to be outdone, Eason tried to fight Griffith in front of Jenelle’s kids. Needless to say, Jenelle didn’t make much of an impression on most of her fellow Teen Mom stars, but apparently, the franchise’s latest addition was thoroughly impressed: “Jenelle was the only one who wasn’t acting like her sh-t ain’t stink,” Briana DeJesus tweeted over the weekend. “Plus she was the only one who wasn’t acting fake and choosing sides.” Yes, according to Briana, Jenelle was the only one who didn’t behave abhorrently. In fairness, Jenelle was too busy brawling with her mother and her ex to take sides in anyone else’s feuds, but apparently, she did make time to get to know Briana. Asked by a fan why she’s so forgiving of Jenelle’s bad behavior, Briana offered a simple explanation: “She has never done anything shady for me not to like her,” DeJesus tweeted. “She’s cool alongside David … they welcomed me with open arms. The others had a guard up and it’s understandable because their loyalty sided with their friends, but it’s still fake to choose sides.” Sources on set have suggested that Briana may have been put off by Leah Messer, who’s known to be a bit more shy than the other moms. Outspoken Briana may have gotten the false impression that Leah was giving her the cold shoulder. As for the persistent rumors that Briana is dating Javi Marroquin , Ms. DeJesus recently switched her Twitter profile pic to an image her with Kailyn Lowry’s ex, so it’s looking more and more like those reports are legit. Watch Teen Mom 2 online to get caught up in time for what promises to be an explosive reunion special. View Slideshow: David Eason vs. Nathan Griffith: WILD Fight Shuts Down Teen Mom 2 Reunion!

Paris Jackson: Sideboob Tattoo Revealed in Tree-Hugging Pic!

Whether she’s using her modeling work to promote body positivity or just showing off her new tattoos , Paris Jackson isn’t shy about sharing topless pictures. In her latest photo, the 19-year-old actress and model proves that she’s a tree-hugger by literally hugging a tree. And, in her shirtless state, she’s giving her fans a look at a tattoo that, well, you don’t normally get to see. And that’s not the only pic from her topless adventures in the great outdoors. Don’t let us give you the impression that Paris Jackson never wears clothes. She totally does. Just recently, she wore a shirt while outside and enjoying some flowers , though the neckline was enough to give a good view of her new chakra tattoo, which runs down her sternum. She also works, as a model but also as an actress (her first feature film comes out next year!). She also goes places and is a real person. But she, and clearly some friends and loved ones who spend time around her, is totally chill hanging out in modes of dress that Instagram and maybe some prudish folks would find scandalous. Honestly, good for her. More people should be comfortable with appropriate, non-threatening nudity. That doesn’t mean that folks like Harvey Weinstein can undress in front of coworkers , mind you. Consensual, non-sexual, non-aggressive nudity can be a wholesome thing. And it can give us a look at more of Paris’ many, many tattoos. Paris captioned this photo with the numeral, 1, enclosed within a box. Are we to get the impression that this is the first of what will eventually be a sequence of photos? We just don’t know. What we do know is that, one, this is a wholesome photo. Actually hugging trees can be therapeutic for some people (no joke); sometimes pregnant folks who are past their due dates hug trees to create just a little more pressure in the hopes of inducing labor. Two, Paris is giving fans a rare glimpse of her sideboob tattoo. There aren’t a lot of ways of naturally hiding a nipple to show off a tattoo. You’d need to, what, cover up your nip nop with the hand from the other side of your body, all while having a friend photograph you in the awkward pose? Or you can just hug a tree from the right angle. We love that the actual tattoo is of a little alien dude. She’s such a treat. But her adventures in the great outdoors weren’t done. Paris Jackson captioned this photo: “Use mamas mud to wash off da filthy makeup from werkk.” Actresses and models generally wear a ton of makeup. We can’t speak to the efficacy (or safety) of using wild mud to remove makeup, but we know that people have used mud and clay to treat their skin for ages. But it’s certainly a natural remedy. No debating that. In fact, in that tree-hugging photo, it kind of looks like Paris’ arms might have a little mud residue on them, right? Also, we have no idea what — if anything — Paris was wearing under that wrap around her waist. But that’s her business. Paris has spent a lot of time topless in the desert, so it’s good to know that she’s also comfortable being a little less dressed in a less extreme environment. For Paris, there’s always a strong spiritual element to her nudity that you don’t always get from the #FreeTheNipple folks. It’s not just about being progressive or about gender equality or whatever — it’s about being natural and following her life path. Good for her, you know?

Kid Rock: F–k No, I’m Not Running for Senate!

Great leaders rise, often from humble beginnings, to lead their communities and their nations to ever greater heights. But one day, they’re forced to step out of the spotlight. Sometimes, they retire sooner than we’d like. And then there’s Kid Rock and … whatever he’s actually been doing this year. Because he’s announced an update on his plans to run for Senate , but the language that he used was much, much more colorful. 2016 was nuts in a surreal way. Like the year was somehow cursed and nothing made sense anymore. 2017 is nuts, in that we’re all living with the consequences of all of history but especially of 2016. Kid Rock announcing his plans to run for Senate would have been totally bonkers at any point in the past. But now that there’s a deranged reality star sitting in the Oval Office, anything can happen. In fact, it seemed that Kid Rock might have been inspired to make that announcement after spending time palling around with Trump, Ted Nugent, and Sarah Palin  in the White House. (Honestly, whoever gets elected next is going to need to have that whole place cleaned. Like, spiritually. Burn some sage, have a member of every different faith come by an perform a blessing, whatever) Kid Rock didn’t stop at announcing his plans to run for Senate, however. He launched an actual website, effectively a declaration of game on, motherf–kers . The website wasn’t much, just some products like Kid Rock for Senate shirts that you could buy. Oh, and some lawn signs that you could by. (Honestly, they could make for some great Halloween decorations) But either Kid Rock realized that being in government is actual work (well, for everyone except the Golfer in Chief who goes on vacations every week) or he realized that there wasn’t enough un-ironic support for him to go to DC, because … In an interview with Howard Stern, Kid Rock shot down claims — which he himself had made — that he was planning a Senate run. “F–k no, I’m not running for Senate,” he said, as if offended that anyone would take him at his word.  “Like who the f–k couldn’t figure that out?” He hadn’t filed the necessary paperwork, but … this is a guy who associates with the likes of Trump and Sarah Palin. No one actually expected him to know anything about government work. But that didn’t mean that no one took him at his word. Kid Rock did share what he’s planning on doing instead: “I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour, too.” That’s almost as bad as Kid Rock in the Senate, but … most of us won’t actually have to suffer through his concerts. As to why he went so far as to havea  website and stupid merchandise? “Since someone said I was going to run for Senate in Michigan, I was like, ’F–k it, let’s get some signs made.’” “I have people that work for me, that are in the in, and I’m like, ‘F–k no, we’re not doing it, but let’s roll with it for a little while. This is awesome.” But that long national nightmare is at last behind us. There are other, bigger national nightmares that are still ongoing, however. It’s worth noting that Kid Rock shared some of his keen political insight about the New York Times . “It’s a little bit gay.” We don’t think that he was quoting Honey Boo-Boo, and Howard Stern asked him to clarify, which he did. “They have a narrative of a left-wing agenda.” They don’t, and we wish that we could say that Kid Rock’s 1995-era use of the word “gay” as an insult were a surprise. But nothing is a surprise anymore. It’s 2017 and all that lives wails in despair as the universe slowly succumbs to entropy’s callous embrace. Robert Guillaume Dies; Benson & The Lion King Actor Was 89

Sad news out of Hollywood today, as Emmy-winning actor Robert Guillaume has passed away at the age of 89. Reports of Guillaume’s death were confirmed this afternoon by his wife of 31 years, Donna Guillaume. You may not be familiar with Guillaume’s name, but if you’re a film and television fan, you’ve almost certainly encountered and enchanted by his work. For seven seasons, Guillaume portrayed the title character on the ABC sitcom Benson , a spinoff of the popular series Soap , on which he also starred. His work on the two shows earned Guillaume a pair of Emmys. While Benson may be the role fans most commonly associate with Guillaume, the Broadway alum went on to produce decades of acclaimed work on both stage and screen after his signature series came to an end. Almost as well known for his rich baritone voice as he was for his comic timing, Benson was nominated for a Tony for his work in a 1977 production of Guys and Dolls . Guillaume later became the first African-American actor to play the title role in The Phanton of the Opera . To younger fans, he’s perhaps best known as the voice of Rafiki in the 1994 Disney animated classic The Lion King . Throughout the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, Guillaume remained a television staple appearing in guest roles on such popular series as Good Times , The Jeffersons , Sanford and Son , Saved By The Bell: The College Years,   The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and A Different World . In his later years, Guillaume appeared in Tim Burton’s Big Fish , and was a regular on the short-lived, but critically-acclaimed Aaron Sorkin sitcom Sports Night. After suffering a stroke in 1999, Guillaume returned to Sports Night , and his slight speech impairment and reliance upon a cane were written into the show in a memorable story arc. The actor was widely applauded by health advocacy groups for his honest and courageous portrayal of life after a stroke. All told, Guillaume racked up nearly 100 screen credits over the course of his 50-year career. He is survived by his wife and four children. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam

Elsewhere In The World: 54 Egyptian Police Officers Killed In Gun Fight With Cairo Militants

Image via KHALED DESOUKI/AFP/Getty Images 54 Policemen Kill In Cairo During Raid-Turned-Shootout S#it is real in Cairo, Egypt . According to NYDailyNews , 54 policeman were killed in a massive firefight with a militant group during a raid Friday night. It’s reported the officers’ deaths marks the largest loss of life in such a fight since 2013. Officials say that the death toll could ultimately be higher as the Egyptian government has eschewed confirmation of a number of fatalities and local news sources reporting varying numbers. Egypt has been struggling to contain an insurgency by Islamic militants led by an affiliate of the Islamic State group, centered mostly across the Suez Canal in the northern region of the Sinai Peninsula, but attacks on the mainland have also recently increased. The country has been under a state of emergency since bombings and suicide attacks targeting minority Coptic Christians killed scores earlier this year. Those attacks were claimed by IS. Like we said, sh!t is REAL.

Ralphie May Dies; Comedian Was 45

Ralphie May launched his comedy career after being the first runner-up on Last Comic Standing in 2003. Since then, he’s had endless stand-up specials. Unfortunately, Ralphie May has died at the age of 45. And we have a few details about that. … Ralphie May often joked about his own mortality. During one stand-up special (I want to say that it was Girth of a Nation , but I can’t swear to it), he refers to how surely no one in the audience would be surprised if he fell over dead of a heart attack at that very moment, given the degree of his obesity. In his no-holds-barred stand-up (including titles — again, he had a show titled Girth of a Nation ), he didn’t shy away from referring to his weight. Some of his clothing seemed selected to emphasize his frame rather than, as many might do, minimize it. TMZ reports that Ralphie May has died  of cardiac arrest. After a 6-week battle with pneumonia during which he nonetheless continued to perform his shows in Vegas, Ralphie died of cardiac arrest. He was in a private residence in Vegas, and that is reportedly where someone discovered his body. After 10 years of marriage, Ralphie and his wife and fellow stand-up artist Lahna Turner had gotten a divorce … which quickly became an ugly custody battle. Back in October of 2015, Lahna Turner filed divorce documents, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, and the fight over custody has continued even in 2017. Earlier this year, Ralphie May — who has never been shy about his fondness for marijuana — even agreed to random drug tests in order to be allowed to have visitations with his children. He was granted two visitations a week (which were to be supervised) and an additional Skype call. Ralphie will be remembered for more than just his comedy career. (Though we expect Netflix views of his shows to go up over the weekend) In late June of 2016, TMZ reported that Ralphie May had saved a baby’s life . In an airport, the baby was choking and the mother cried out for help. One person tried but failed to help, and then Robbie successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver and restored the baby’s ability to breathe. It’s not really a surprise that he learned it — custody battle or no, he was a parent, and he’d no doubt learned as so many parents do about how to potentially save their children’s lives. Or maybe he’d just picked it up like others do, from television or whatever. It’s easy to see celebrities who just do one thing — like comedy — as totally one-dimensional when, in reality, they’re anything but. While Ralphie May joked about his mortality and would doubtless joke about his own demise if he could, this is definitely sad news. He had a tremendous talent for making people laugh and bringing people joy. We can only imagine how much his chidlren will miss him, because even those who were merely his fans are already in mourning. Rest in peace, Ralphie.
