These emergency workers thought they were just coming to put out a fire…SMH Chicago Firefighters Find Badly Burned Body In Dumpster Firefighters who responded to reports of a blazing dumpster fire burning in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood made a gruesome discovery after putting out the flames. via Chicago Tribune Firefighters found a body burned beyond recognition after extinguishing a dumpster fire in the Northwest Side’s Logan Square neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said. The fire was reported about 11:05 p.m., Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. After putting out the blaze, which broke out in a dumpster in the 3100 block of North Kimball Avenue, authorities found a body but were unable to determine the victim’s age, sex or race. Those details remained unknown as of 5 a.m. this morning, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for today. Damn… Kansas City Teen Dies In Texting While Driving Crash On First Solo Drive Via DailyMail A 16-year-old girl was killed during her first drive alone when she veered in front of an oncoming tractor trailer while she sent a text. State troopers say Savannah Nash of Harrisonville, Missouri, was killed instantly when her PT Cruiser collided with an oncoming semi just two blocks from her home on Thursday. The crash was in fact so close to home that one of her neighbors reported hearing the horrific impact as both vehicles collided. Her parents told police that Savannah had gone out to get items for their family dinner that night. She had only received her driver’s license less than a week ago and was for the first time allowed by her parents to go out on the road alone. ‘There was a text message that was on her phone, however it was not sent yet,’ Sgt. Bill Lowe of the Missouri State Highway Patrol told Fox4KC. ‘That is a probable contributing circumstance to the crash. That’s all part of the investigation.’ At 4.10pm State troopers say the teen pulled out onto Missouri Highway 7 but failed to yield to the oncoming truck traveling at high speeds. An aerial view of the scene shows her vehicle slammed from the driver’s side across the median before coming to rest on the edge of the highway’s opposing lanes. Savannah’s classmates posted sad condolences on Facebook: ‘We will miss your beautiful smile, your laugh and your amazing attitude. You were always nice to me and brightened my day,’ a fellow classmate posted on a Facebook page created to remember Savannah. ‘All my love toward you and your family. See you someday.’ R.I.P. Fred White Dies; Royals Broadcaster Was 76

Fred White, the longtime broadcaster for the Kansas City Royals, has died. He passed away yesterday, one day after announcing his retirement. White was 76. White died of complications from melanoma. The broadcaster, who had a 40-year association with K.C., had reportedly been sick for some time. White joined the Royals’ broadcast team in 1973 and teamed with Denny Matthews in 1975, with the two serving at the team’s voices though 1998. More recently, White remained an active figure within the MLB organization, acting as the club’s director of broadcast services and Royals alumni. A team statement said the longtime broadcaster passed while in hospice care. His family has requested privacy as they deal with their grief. R.I.P.

Lena Horne Dies … in 2010

Yesterday, the Sacramento Bee reported that legendary actress/singer Lena Horne died at the age of 92, citing an obituary in The New York Times . The only problem? She died on May 9 … 2010. It’s unclear how the Bee blew this, but Lena Horne began trending nationally and countless news outlets picked up the story (which they have since taken down). On Twitter, thousands of users mourned, tweeting condolences as if it just happened. “Just learned Lena Horne passed away. Saddened. A legend. A true star,” one wrote. “Crying so hard. I didn’t know that her death would affect me like this!” said another. This was followed by a collective, “Wait, didn’t Lena Horne die three years ago?” “LISTEN UP: Today, May 10, marks the THIRD ANNIVERSARY of the death of Lena Horne. Got it? Third anniversary,” one fan tweeted in response. Another fan of the actress sent out a similar rebuke, “Lena Horne died three years ago people. I’m judging you if you didn’t know that already.” This isn’t the first time Twitter has reacted to a false report of a celebrity death, but it’s the first we can recall in which the person was already dead. At least Lena’s legacy was remembered again?

Andrew "Bart" Simpson Dies; Sailing Gold Medalist Was 36

Sailing gold medalist Andrew “Bart” Simpson has died. The 72-foot-long sailboat he was on capsized in San Francisco Bay. He was practicing for the upcoming America’s Cup with the Swedish team Artemis Racing. He was just 36 years old. Simpson was reportedly trapped under the boat for 10 minutes. Another sailor involved in the wreck was injured. The rest of the 13 people on the crew were fine. He won one Olympic gold medal and one silver medal during his career. “The entire Artemis team is devastated by what happened,” CEO Paul Canyard says in a statement. “Our heartfelt condolences are with Andrew’s wife and family.”

R.I.P: Malcolm Shabazz Killed In Mexico

R.I.P. Malcolm Shabazz Killed In Mexico According to The Huffington Post Malcolm Shabazz, the grandson of civil rights icon Malcolm X, has been killed in Mexico according to The Amsterdam News. Shabazz’s death was also confirmed on Twitter and Facebook by Terrie Williams, a friend of the Shabazz family. While details of his death are still unclear, there are unconfirmed reports that Shabazz died of injuries sustained during a robbery. Shabazz is the son of Qubilah Shabazz, who was the second daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz. In his youth, he set a fire that caused the death of his grandmother. For that crime, he plead plead guilty to manslaughter, was found guilty of arson, and was sentenced to 18 months in a juvenile detention facility. As an adult, Shabazz continued to have trouble with the law, The New York Times reported. He plead guilty to attempted robbery in 2002 and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. Just months after his release in 2006, he was arrested again, this time for punching a hole in a store window. At the time of his death, Shabazz was attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York and working on two books. He is survived by his mother and two daughters. R.I.P: Family And Friends Pay Their Respects At Chris Kelly’s Wake

We feel for Chris ‘ family and friends. Chris Kelly’s Wake Gets Under Way According to TMZ Chris Kelly’s public wake is under way at a funeral home in Atlanta, GA … where mourners were greeted with an instrumental version of “Jump” … TMZ has learned. Friends and family members have been paying their respects to the Kris Kross rapper at the open-casket event all day long — while final preparations are made for tomorrow’s public funeral. Although Chris kept faithful to his pants-backward style his entire adult life, his burial trousers were forward … he was dressed in a black suit, white shirt and pink tie, sporting earrings and a goatee. We’re told Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith and Jermaine Dupri (who discovered Kris Kross) have not arrived to the wake … yet. Sources tell us Smith is taking Kelly’s death especially hard and is still trying to pull himself together. Inside the casket, on a sign attached to the coffin lid, read the words: “Cause that’s what I was born to do …” lyrics from the Kris Kross hit “Warm It Up.” The casket was flanked by photos of Chris and Daddy Mac in their heyday. No media were allowed inside, though the viewing was open to the public … one vehicle rolled up with “Jump” blaring out the windows … a few local news trucks were parked outside … but otherwise it’s been a quiet affair. A small group of family and close friends planned to gather later on at Chris’s house. We broke the story … Kelly died on May 1 after a suspected cocaine and heroin overdose. He was 34.
