Chicago Lawyer Convicted Of Murdering Eddy Curry’s Girlfriend And 10-Month-Old Daughter Via NYPost A jury has convicted a Chicago attorney of murdering former NBA center Eddy Curry’s ex-girlfriend and infant daughter four years ago. Fredrick Goings showed no reaction when the jury’s guilty verdict was read Tuesday in the January 2009 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her and Curry’s 10-month-old daughter, Ava. Goings represented Henry in a child custody case against the former Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Miami Heat center, and was also romantically involved with her. Prosecutors say Henry tried to end her relationship with Goings and moved out with her and Curry’s two children. They say Goings shot Henry in her home while she was holding the infant. Her and Curry’s son, who was then 3 years old, was also in the home but wasn’t harmed. Curry, who now plays in China, didn’t testify. Says Nova’s mother, Yolan Henry: “I’m feeling elated. I can breathe,” she said. “I feel justice has been served.” Yolan Henry testified that she found her surviving grandson, Noah, with the bodies of his sister and mother, and that he told her, “Fredrick did it.” It’s good to see the system benefit those who deserve justice and punish a$$holes that kill babies. This day should be about laying this young girl to rest, not about who is in the crowd Former Congressman Criticizes Michelle Obama Attending Hadiya Pendleton Funeral Former Congressman Joe Walsh might be out of Washington for good, but that’s not stopping him from slinging slander at First Lady Michelle Obama in ridiculous fashion. The former Tea Party motor mouth recently took to his Twitter to slam the FLOTUS for deciding to attend the funeral of 15-year-old slain Chicago teenager Hadiya Pendleton , who performed at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration just one week before she was senselessly gunned down in front of her school. Hadiya’s death received national attention and even prompted a response from the First Family, who expressed their condolences to the her family through the White House spokesperson, but Walsh felt that this was a slap in the face to the other 553 Chicago murder victims of 2012 and 2013. He tweeted: The First Family can’t possibly attend the funeral of every young person who sadly falls victim to violence. And in addition to the fact that this young girl performed during Inauguration, her family also petitioned for the Obamas to attend her funeral , so it’s no surprise that this case in particular happened to stand out and get national attention from the White House. This is so sad. Gun violence has claimed another young victim. Via Gawker reports : Police in Greenville, South Carolina, say a 3-year-old boy was killed Friday night after a pink gun he mistook for a toy accidentally discharged. Temorej Smith and his 7-year-old sister were in the bedroom of their unit at The Plantations at Haywood apartments, playing around with a pink handgun. Their parents were out of the house at the time, but their grandparents were reportedly sitting in the nearby living room. As the two siblings were playing with the weapon, it suddenly went off and Temorej sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Greenville Police have since ruled the boy’s death an accident. No charged have been filed, but the investigation continues. Police spokesman Johnathan Bragg said the incident tragically illustrates the importance of securing all household weapons. “If you have guns, if you own guns mostly we would prefer you have them in a lock box,” Bragg told News 4. “At least have them out of the reach of children.” Funeral services for Temorej will be held Wednesday afternoon at Golden View Baptist Church in Fountain Inn. This is so sad… Our condolences to his family. Gun owners, please, please, please be careful about leaving your weapons loaded and accessible to kids!
The trial has been set for George Zimmerman who has been charged for murdering Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. And just like the mark @ss buster he is, of course Zimmerman tried to delay the trial, fortunately the judge was not trying to hear it…. According to ABC News: On what would have been Trayvon Martin’s 18th birthday, lawyers for his accused killer George Zimmerman were denied a request to delay this summer’s murder trial. Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara claimed during an often heated one-hour hearing that he needed more time to prepare, and that the state was not being cooperative with key evidence. “Its February and the trial’s set for June,” countered prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda. He argued that O’Mara did not deserve more time to prepare and that many of the delays were his own fault. The state has argued that the Zimmerman legal team is moving slowly because of a dwindling defense fund. Zimmerman’s attorneys have acknowledged that the fund is just about empty. “The spirit of Trayvon Martin was definitely in the courtroom today on what would have been his 18th birthday. The judge ruled that the trial would not be delayed,” Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump said today. Martin, 17, was shot and killed while walking home unarmed on Feb. 26, 2012, from a deli near his father’s fiancee’s house. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, has claimed the unarmed teen was acting suspicious and that he shot the teenager during a fight when the boy tried to get Zimmerman’s gun. She looks rough Via ABCNews Nancy Gonzalez, a corrections officer at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, was arrested this morning at her home in Huntington, N.Y., on charges that she allegedly carried on a sexual relationship with a man convicted of killing two NYPD detectives. She is charged with engaging in sexual relations with an inmate and she is scheduled to be arraigned later this afternoon in Brooklyn federal court, according to court papers. Gonzalez, 29, is accused of having what is described as inappropriate relationship sex with Ronell Wilson, who was convicted of the 2003 capital murder of two undercover NYPD detectives in a point-blank execution in Staten Island. Gonzalez is now eight months pregnant with a baby, possibly from the relationship with Wilson, according to officials. At least three other inmates knew about the relationship, and told authorities Gonzalez had inappropriate relations in both the cell and a vacant room next to the inmate’s cell. B-b-but wait it gets worse! Further investigation revealed an inappropriate relationship with another inmate, currently in a New York State prison but previously at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center, according to the court documents. That inmate told his mother on a recorded conversation that Gonzalez is pregnant with another man’s baby. Gonzales will have an initial appearance this afternoon in US District court in Brooklyn before Magistrate Judge Ramon E. Reyes. She faces a statutory maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted. So what does this felon-lovin’ hussy have to say for herself? “I just basically got wrapped up in something that I should not have got wrapped up…getting myself up with someone that is so high profile that when he farts it makes the news.” Gonzalez asked the second inmate if he knew Wilson’s name, and the second inmate said his first name starts with “R.” “I can’t explain it. I know what’s to come. I know what is going to be said about me. I know that for me as a parent, how am I going to explain this to this little boy? Mommy was in the military. Mommy was a C.O. President Obama and the first family have been asked to pay their respects to Hadiya Pendleton in person… Friends and Family Of Hadiya Pendleton Want President Obama At Her Funeral The tragic, sudden and untimely death of 15-year-old Chicago native Hadiya Pendleton weighed heavy on the hearts of many, including the President and First Family who issued condolences to her family through White House spokesman Jay Carney upon learning of her passing. However, grieving residents, friends and family of Hadiya are now pushing for President Obama to take it a step further by paying his respects to her in person at her funeral on February 9. via Loop 21 What happened to Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago teen, was horrible. While taking cover from the rain, the young girl, who performed with her high school drill team at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama, was gunned down in what seems to be random gunfire. The White House acknowledged her death Wednesday. “The president and first lady’s thoughts and prayers are with the family of Hadiya Pendleton,” White house spokesman Jay Carney said. But the people want more. A petition was created, urging the president to honor the brief life of the girl and attend her funeral. Carney said he had no knowledge of the petition nor of any scheduling changes. There is no word that he has addressed the petitions’ request Our prayers continue to go out to this grieving family and community as they prepare to lay Hadiya to rest.

The air date for “Betty And Coretta” has finally arrived. Will you be watching? Here’s some info via the AJC : …Lifetime finds a new angle: the friendship between their widows, Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King, after their husbands were assassinated during the turbulent 1960s. The film, “Betty & Coretta,” debuts at 8 tonight starring Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett as King and R&B singer Mary J. Blige as Shabazz. Though Malcolm X and King were not particularly close, the widows found common ground starting in the early 1970s as single mothers with history-making spouses. Their ties grew stronger over the years until Shabazz’s death in 1997 from a tragic fire set by her grandson. They even took a spa vacation together. Larry Sanitsky, an executive producer for the film, considered King “the Jackie Kennedy of the civil rights movement.” The film conveys how she embraced her husband’s legacy. Bassett, who actually played Shabazz in the acclaimed 1992 film “Malcolm X” starring Denzel Washington, told ABC News that King considered her role “a God-given purpose, a calling on her life.” King’s activism inspired Shabazz to become more vocal in the movement as well. “These women were going through some horrible trials, and they were so strong,” Blige said in a recent news conference. “It’s good for Coretta that she stepped out and she made Martin’s voice heard; she made her own voice heard, and so did Betty.” Actress Ruby Dee, who was friends with both of them, narrates the movie. It was filmed in Montreal, which masqueraded as New York and Atlanta, among other cities. Sanitsky said he was thrilled Lifetime chose to air this film, in a move “not driven by numbers or working the headlines.
