The Good Morning America co-anchor – who is taking an extended leave of absence in order to receive a bone marrow transplant from her sister in response to a rare blood disorder – is now faced with a new personal tragedy: Her mother passed away last night. Lucimarian Tolliver Roberts was 88 years old and the first African American to head Mississippi’s Board of Education. Roberts flew to Mississippi yesterday to be by her ailing parent’s bedside and her GMA colleague George Stephanopoulos confirmed today that Robin did at least make it there in time to say goodbye. A note was distributed to ABC staff members last night that referred to Robin’s “beautiful and inspiring mother” and added: “It has always been clear where Robin got her strength, faith and spirit. You didn’t need to look far.”

His first words after setting foot on the surface will forever be etched in history books and in the memories of those who heard them in a live broadcast. Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the lunar surface, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photos. “The sights were simply magnificent, beyond any visual experience that I had ever been exposed to,” Armstrong said in an interview years later. In all, 12 American astronauts walked on the moon between 1969 and 1972, but none more famously than the Ohio native on Apollo 11. Armstrong died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures, a statement from his family said. It didn’t say where or when.

Man Bites Snake To Death After Being Attached Bet the snake didn’t see this one coming…. A Nepali man who was bitten by a cobra snake bit it back and killed the reptile in a tit-for-tat attack, a newspaper said on Thursday. Nepali daily Annapurna Post said Mohamed Salmo Miya chased the snake, which bit him in his rice paddy on Tuesday, caught it and bit it until it died. “I could have killed it with a stick but bit it with my teeth instead because I was angry,” the 55-year-old Miya, who lives in a village some 200 km (125 miles) southeast of the Nepali capital of Kathmandu, was quoted by the daily as saying. The snake, called “goman” in Nepal, is also known as the Common Cobra. Police official Niraj Shahi said the man, who was being treated at a village health post and was not in danger of dying, would not be charged with killing the snake because the reptile was not among snake species listed as endangered in Nepal. Shirley Wygal, whose daughter lost her life inside an Aurora, Colorado movie theater on July 20 and who is now suing the owners of that theater , has hired Jose Baez has her attorney. Baez is best known as the lead lawyer in the Casey Anthony case. After helping that accused murderer go free, he wrote a book in which he detailed Anthony’s perceived mental issues . Wygal believes the theater, due to its lax security, should be held partially responsible for the alleged actions of James Holes. In a statement, she tells TMZ: “When police came that night with official word, Rebecca’s baby asked, ‘How did he get in?’ Dissatisfied with the answer, she asked again. At just 5 years old, she wants to know how it could happen and so do I. If any entity had an obligation to protect the innocent and did not, then every survivor and loved one left behind must hold them accountable. The first step is a timely and thorough investigation. “I’ve engaged a firm large enough to help us all. I am confident in their expertise and appreciate their making this a priority. Rebecca would love these attorneys. As a mom, she’d want her girls to have the truth. As a daughter, she’d insist I find that truth for them.”
