Questlove Sued By “Tonight Show” Staffers Fired Over Racist Texts A group text featuring some half-eaten fried chicken and a pretty predictable racial slur cost two “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” got two white cameramen fired from their jobs last summer…and they say it’s specifically because they’re white, and it’s all Questlove’s fault . Page Six reports that cameramen Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino each received the offensive text from an unidentified stagehand on June 19, 2017. The thing is…Roots bassist Mark Kelly was a part of the same group chat and wasn’t quite feeling the joke. In their lawsuit, the cameramen claim they both declined to respond to the message, which was received in the middle of the taping, and told their superiors they had nothing to do with it once filming was done. However, they were each placed on suspension the next day. They claim they were later fired after Questlove personally made a case to have them cut over their association with the racist text…however Mark Kelly faced no penalties for receiving it. How they figure a Black man would manage to get fired after receiving an unsolicited racist text against African Americans, we aren’t quite sure. However, the men feel that they were fired due to their whiteness. However, NBC says they have strict guidelines in place to keep discrimination out of the workplace …and the fact that they didn’t immediately report the text or its sender were violations of the code. Eric Garner’s Mother Gwen Says She Can’t Forgive Cops After Son’s Death

 New Series “Two Sides” Examines The Lives & Legacies Of Those Who Died In Police Custody & Sparked Social Change The mother of Eric Garner said she still wrestles with forgiving the police officers who killed her son three years ago. “I pray every night to forgive,” Gwen Carr said of her son Eric Garner’s death. “Because you have to forgive for yourself. But when someone takes your child away, it’s so hard. I pray to God every night to forgive me because I haven’t forgiven them.” Garner died in the midst of an arrest in 2014, and his final words, “I can’t breathe,” ignited protests around the world. Carr said the lack of accountability in the death of Garner, a married father, makes it even worse. “Maybe in time when justice comes,” she said, “I will have a better sense of forgiveness in my heart. Because there has been no justice.” Garner’s life, death and the movement it sparked is one of the subjects of “Two Sides,” a new docu-series from TV One that examines four cases – Eric Garner, John Crawford, Sandra Bland and Ezell Ford – that became symbols in the social justice fight. Instead of reenactments, the series uses actual footage from the incidents and goes in-depth with the people who were involved. Oscar winner Viola Davis is one of the series’ executive producers, and her producing partner Lemuel Plummer said his goal for “Two Sides” was to “bridge the gap between black and blue.” “Two Sides” courtesy of TV One “We’re not taking a biased approach,” Plummer said, “We’re hearing from all sides. We want the audience walking away understanding why this is happening, and why police officers end up making these decisions.” Shante Needham, the sister of Sandra Bland, agreed with Carr, and said every day has been a struggle since losing her sibling, especially when she sees more cases of people dying at the hands of police officers. “Well of course, we have to forgive if we say we are children of God,” Needham said. “But it’s the act of forgetting. I still ask three years later, ‘Why?’ Why did they do this to my sister?” Needham added that she hoped viewers would see the show as a call to action. “When you see something, speak up,” she said. “Stop letting things go under the rug…so our kids and grandkids don’t have to come up in the manner we have.” “Two Sides” will air Jan. 22 on TV One. That’s the message that’s being sent to Harley Barber, a University of Alabama student whose racist rant went viral. As previously reported the audacious Alpha Phi sorority member posted several videos calling black people “n***rs” and adding that she can drop the N-word freely because she’s in the south. “We do not waste water,” said Barber in a video of herself turning off a water faucet. “We don’t waste water because of people in Syria. I love how I act like I love black people because I f–king hate n—–s. So, that’s really interesting — I f—king hate n—–s, but I just saved the f–king n—–s by shutting that water off.” She later added this in another video after receiving backlash; ““I’ve wanted to be in Alpha Phi since f–king high school and nobody f—king understands how much I love Alpha Phi,” Barber says, staring directly at the camera. “And now someone wants to save my finsta because I said n—-r? You know what? N—-r, n—-r, n—-r. I don’t care if it’s Martin Luther King Day.” Watch ya clotted cream mouth beyotch. The New Jersey native has now been expelled from Alabama and she’s apologizing for being a rancid racist in an interview with The New York Post. “I did something really, really bad,” Barber told The Post. “I don’t know what to do and I feel horrible. I’m wrong and there’s just no excuse for what I did.” Asked if she considered the advice from one of her friends who suggested that Barber not post the videos, Barber replied: “No, I’m an idiot. Black folks got about a week to be happy about biracial Meghan Markle’s swirl-gagement to Prince Harry before the bubble bursting memes and editorials have begun picking the social impact of the pairing to pieces. Eurweb published a scathing editorial by comedian Cory Haywood that begins: *Sisters, don’t get too excited about Meghan Markle‘s engagement to Prince Harry (or whatever the hell that boy’s name is). This “historic” piece of news doesn’t even remotely count as a victory for black people or black women. Period. Sisters, I can hear ya’ll fools right now – “I’m not wasting my time with average ni**as. I deserve to be with a prince so that I can be treated like a princess.” Ha! I laugh at you ignorant hoes. “Coming to America” was a movie. That sh** ain’t happening to you. Ignorant hoes though? BRUH. Haywood goes on to argue that Markle’s indistinguishable features made her prime for the Prince’s pickings, traits that most black women can’t claim. He also says that Markle’s marriage is only possible because Prince Harry is unlikely to inherit the throne anyway. Haywood also decries The Root’s decision to declare the engagement “black girl magic” So let me get this straight, it’s just a good ol’ ni*ga time when two black people get married, but when a black girl wrangles a White Prince, it’s “magic”. Ni**a what! We see where he’s going and it’s part of why we try to celebrate Black love everywhere we see it, but Haywood stumbles into murky territory when he attacks the black community’s willingness to embrace the success of mixed race people as “black success”: More importantly, why is it that every time a half-breed stumbles upon good fortune or success, the entire black community rejoices and lives vicariously through that person (as if his or her family tree is entirely Negro)? Are we that desperate for a win? Half-breed is a HORRIBLE term. Haywood is a comedian but it seems a** backwards to make an argument like his using the oppressor’s terminology. That part aside, do you think that Haywood is right to be critical of the royal engagement being upheld as “black girl magic” or even something meant to inspire “hope” for black women? We saw this Good Morning America headline as well and definitely gave it the side eye. Amanda Seales does a pretty good breakdown here on IG: So what do you think? Maskot Jason Nichols Gets Racist Phone Call University of Maryland Professor Jason Nichols is making headlines for a disgusting voicemail he received. Jason Nichols took to Facebook to share a gut-wrenching voicemail from an irate woman BIG mad about a recent Fox News appearance he made. Nichols appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” last week to discuss Columbus Day with the host. And his words on the show apparently pissed off a cowardly woman who blasted him for being a “f**** n***r” who wants to change every holiday to “N***r Day.” “This message is for Jason,” said the woman. “I’ve been listening to him on Fox. You know, this f**** n****, you n****rs are not going to be satisfied until you change every fucking piece of s*** holiday to N****r Day.” According to Nichols that’s not the only phone call he got, and he might release another woman from a (clearly confused) West Indian woman. “They left it on the front office phone,” wrote Nichols in the comments section. “I didn’t even post the one from the lady with the West Indian accent which was just as bad if not worse. It’s par for the course I suppose but I usually never check the phone messages so they caught me off guard. SMH, that racist suuuuure was bold from the comfort of her own home. More on the flip.
