Hugh Jackman Hopes To Saddle Up For ‘Unbound Captives’

Robert Pattinson is also signed on to star in the Western, which has a ‘beautiful script,’ Jackman tells MTV News. By Kara Warner Hugh Jackman Photo: MTV News Pretty much from the moment the movie “Unbound Captives” was announced, fans were signed on and ready to camp out for opening-day tickets. Why? Because it’s a Western with A-list actors. Robert Pattinson , Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz are attached to it. Set in the 1800s, the film revolves around a woman (Weisz) whose husband is killed and two children are kidnapped by Comanche warriors. She enlists the help of a frontiersman (Jackman) to help rescue her children (one of whom will be played by Pattinson) from the tribe. When MTV News caught up with Jackman recently to discuss his latest movie, “Real Steel,” we asked him for an update on “Captives.” “I was thinking about that this morning. I’m absolutely attached, it is one of the best scripts I’ve read in a long time,” Jackman admitted. “And as you know, Hollywood has a hard time with Westerns; it’s hard to get them made and this is a really beautiful, beautiful script. It’s written by Madeleine Stowe, who’s going to direct it as well, so I really hope that one gets made. I think that’s a really important movie.” Earlier this year, Pattinson told MTV News he was also still very interested in making the film, but wasn’t sure about when production might begin given that Stowe had committed to star in ABC’s new hit “Revenge.” Weisz has also expressed her continued interest in “Captives.” “It’s a great screenplay, and [Pattinson and Jackman] are both great actors,” she said. “I like to work with all kinds of talented people, whatever the age.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Secretary-General Invites Whistleblower to Screen at U.N. Headquarters

It might have taken nearly a year, but United Nations leadership is finally aligning itself with The Whistleblower , the new film based on the experience of a peacekeeper who witnessed U.N. complicity in sex-trafficking in Bosnia in the late ’90s/early ’00s. And while Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon might not yet have clambered aboard the film’s Rachel Weisz awards-season bandwagon, he’s definitely paving its road ahead with an invitation for the film to screen at U.N. headquarters in New York.

Rachel Weisz on The Whistleblower, Her Toronto Two-Fer and the ‘Experimental’ Terrence Malick

Rachel Weisz delivers an extraordinary performance in this week’s The Whistleblower , which features the Oscar-winner as a Nebraska cop whose stint as a UN peacekeeper in Bosnia unravels when she discovers her coalition’s complicity in an international sex-slavery ring. Based on true events involving Weisz’s character Kathryn Bolkovac, the film charts a downswing of humanity salvaged only by Bolkovac’s struggle to expose it and, in turn, Weisz’s sensitive handling of a woman coming to terms with a world beyond compassion.

Stephen Baldwin Always Brings His Favorite Knife to Movie Premieres

And now for unsurprising news that you’ll still be shocked to hear: Stephen Baldwin carries a knife to movie premieres. Sigh! If Alec is the august Baldwin, William is the functional, competent Baldwin, and Daniel is the downtrodden Baldwin, Stephen is certainly the wild card. (Those of us who watched both of his seasons on Celebrity Mole know this best.) Let an intrepid reporter tell you her story of interviewing Stephen and encountering his four-inch blade.

Watch Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz in the Dream House Trailer: Dead Again

Daniel Craig is the sort of mensch who I’d like to believe can do wrong. Unfortunately, when you’re in everything , infallibility is not an option. The new trailer for Dream House , the sepia-postered film exhibits a few contrivances that I’d expect from — well, a by-the-book psychodrama with a September release date. But I admit, the trailer is entertaining, even if it’s a note-for-note reiteration of a movie that came out almost 10 years ago to this day.

Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz Secretly Marry

The pair tied the knot in New York on Wednesday. By Jocelyn Vena Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig Photo: Getty Images It was the kind of clandestine operation only James Bond could pull off. Rachel Weisz and her “James Bond” beau Daniel Craig secretly married last week in New York. Reps for the couple confirmed the nuptials to the Daily Mail and People.com . Little is known about the Big Apple ceremony, but according to reports, the wedding took place on Wednesday and was attended by just four people. In addition to the actors’ children — Rachel’s 5-year-old son, Henry (his dad is “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky), and Daniel’s 18-year-old daughter, Ella — the wedding guests included two friends of the couple who acted as witnesses. “Daniel and Rachel insisted on having a small, quiet wedding,” a source reportedly told the News of the World. “They are madly in love and couldn’t wait to be husband and wife — but they wanted minimum fuss. They had a couple of friends as witnesses and their children from previous relationships and that was it.” Weisz and Craig have always been quite private about their relationship. Romance rumors were sparked last year when they were filming “Dream House,” in which they star as a married couple. In the supernatural thriller, their lives take a turn for the worse when they move with their two daughters to a quiet New England town and find out their new home was the site of a murder that claimed the life of a young mother and her two children. Naomi Watts also stars in the film as a neighbor with close ties to the deceased family. Last year, Weisz split from Aronofsky, whom she was with for nine years. Meanwhile, Craig parted ways with his producer girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell earlier in 2010.
