Lupe Fiasco Explains Why He Called Obama A Terrorist And “A Great Speaker, But Kills Little Children”

Lupe Fiasco sat down to talk about his controversial viewpoints and his upcoming album, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, this week. Known to be apolitical and someone who doesn’t vote, Lupe considers himself “a stone-cold subversive”: This time, “the plot,” as Lupe calls it, is to release the album’s first installment in September and the sequel in early 2013, with several singles hitting airwaves along the way. “It’s meant to tell the great American experience, touch on my ideas, my very rough, very unfinished, unpolished thoughts and feelings about America: American history, American culture, American society, American beauty, American food. You’ll see that laced throughout the album,” he said. If the first two joints, “B!tch Bad” and “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free),” are any barometer, the rapper’s reputation for blistering social and political commentary will remain intact. No hoes, kush and rims here, thank you. If you know his music, you probably recognize him as a gifted lyricist with a wide range of beats and a penchant for material that can go a little over listeners’ heads. It’s not that he’s condescending; he wants their heads a little higher. Those who know him only through headlines and sound bites may be more familiar with his Occupy Wall Street participation or his occasional inflammatory remark — such as when he called the president “the biggest terrorist” last year. Asked to elaborate, Lupe said there was a lot of backlash to his comment — especially from a hip-hop community that generally stands behind the country’s first black president — but his barb was more directed at the Oval Office rather than any particular man who has occupied it. “I think that American presidentssss,” he said, hissing to emphasize the plural, “that position in itself, as well as American foreign policy, it has terrorism in it. CIA agents going to overthrow certain governments — they’re using terrorist tactics. They’re not going in there like, ‘Hey, you wanna have some cake?’ “ “I don’t think it’s being unpatriotic,” he said of his stance. “This nation was founded by rebels and revolutionaries, and its flags were carried across the battlefields by people who were very, very against the status quo and who questioned and criticized. I think it’s following that tradition, but I think we’re in very sensitive times.” Not only did he decline to waver on his incendiary assessment of the commander in chief, but the day after explaining the aforementioned remarks, he described Obama as “someone who is a great speaker, but kills little children,” during an interview with a Philadelphia radio station. We got to respect his stance on Politics and the fact that Lupe has stayed true to his roots since the original Food and Liquor dropped back in ’06. He touches on the striking level of violence going on in the country right now, especially amongst youth: What often seems like savagery among urban youth can often be attributed to a lack of conflict-management skills, he said, and it’s troubling how much of the violence in American cities can be traced back to base aggression and materialism. Rap isn’t solely to blame, he said, but it often reinforces many of the inner city’s most cancerous characteristics. “What’s the biggest commercial for aggression, sexuality and materialism? What gets pumped into these kids’ heads?” he asked in a veiled shot at his musical genre. “Taking someone else’s girl, which is so laissez-faire in hip-hop, will get you killed in the streets, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue when you hear it on the radio.” It’s an interesting notion, that hip-hop should have a conscience, and it’s not something you hear from within the industry, at least outside the likes of Common or Talib Kweli. Perhaps it’s just another example of how Lupe isn’t your typical rap star. This is Lupe’s fourth album and it’s set to drop September 25th. Source Images via WENN/Facebook

Monday comes around and my friends Jen and Jessica who’ve never…

Monday comes around and my friends Jen and Jessica who’ve never met Justin are holding my place in line for when Justin goes to the Radio Disney studio. I was writing my letter since I’m trying to sing with Justin. I finally got there an hour later than I was supposed to but no sign of Justin yet.  Hour by hour, more and more people showed up. By the time Justin came to Radio Disney, there was over 100 fans and the ones who screamed and ran up to Justin on his segway hadn’t helped. Mom had noticed Justin was parked in a red zone and figured that he wouldn’t be staying long if they weren’t moving the car. She and her friends daughter Nicolette decided to walk over and talk to him. For a second she thought it was Moshe but it was just another guy who looked like him. She asked him if he thought Justin would stop and he flat out told her Justin had been running late to another interview and the way the fans acted crazy (by screaming and running up to him), made it highly unlikely that he would stop for anyone. My mom then went on to talk to another one of the workers while I managed to give Vanessa my letter for Justin. Once my mom saw he wouldn’t be stopping we just decided to leave. We went to the car right as Justin was leaving as well. We decided to drive to Venice Beach and on the way there, Nicolette being 8 had to pee and couldn’t hold it in. We stopped by a French Bakery and noticed across the street from it was a radio station.  As we were driving, we saw Justin’s van and I immediately had my mom pull over. There was only one fan there other than our group. I saw Vanessa again and asked her if she could get Justin to stop for us.   She said she would talk to him about it but at the end of the day, it was his decision. Pattie then came out of Justin’s van. I said hi and she smiled and said it back and walked in. We saw Kenny put more things in the car and Justin hopped into the van. We weren’t aloud to walk up passed a line so Jen and I started screaming, “Justin please take pictures with us, please please Justin please.” We saw no response from him and none from Moshe. We figured it was time to give up and go to Venice. We were walking off the lot when Moshe yelled out, “Guys come back.” The five of us ran back towards the van. Jen hugged Moshe and said, “Thank you so much” and I hugged Justin and I was like, “You really don’t know what this means to us.” After the hug we stayed silent for a second and I was just like, “So um we should get our pictures”, because I was fairly sure he was in a rush. I was handing my camera to Jen and Justin grabbed it and took a selfie with me . He started taking pictures with Jen and Nicollette and they were kind of quiet so I told him about a dare I  had in 2010 from my best friend Katie who dared me to get a picture with him, of him kissing me on the cheek. He was like, “Yeah lets do this.” He proceeded to take a picture with the rest of the girls and my mom. I told him about how I may be getting ‘Believe’ tattooed on my left wrist and he smiled and showed me his tat and said he just got his done. My mom told Justin and Pattie that they inspire her and I and he hugged her, I was just like, “THATS MY MOM!!!” and he just laughed . After my mom took her picture with Justin, I told Justin about how I have a campaign called “Operation sing with JB and I’m trying to sing with him.” He smiled at me wide and said, “Thank you ladies!” Honestly Justin will never know how much he’s done to change my life. I will always be grateful and the memories I have with him honestly keep me going. Justin if you stumble on this one, I just want to say thanks. -@BIEBERINLA95 See more here: Monday comes around and my friends Jen and Jessica who’ve never…

I’m Kate and I’m from Singapore . I never knew that I would get a chance to meet Justin Bieber. I went to Singapore’s Bieberfest 8/7/12 which was conducted by Radio 91.3 and Universal Music. Over 500 beliebers turned up for the Bieberfest. We had to actually write something on this purple heart and they would pass it along to Justin. They’d also choose 4 beliebers who would get a chance to meet Justin . Everyone had their purple hearts in their hands ready to register. They also had an official videographer to video us dancing to the mass dance, “All around the world.” They poured out all the hearts out on the stage and picked up some randomly. First was Debby, then was Sufyan, and then it was me! I couldn’t believe it. Finally the day came and we had a surprise that we were going for the press conference! Justin performed for us with Dan Kanter (the best guitarist), we also saw Kenny, Scrappy, Alfredo and Moshe. I was like “Hi Justin” and he said hey. I just hugged him and I couldn’t take it! He touched my back, can you imagine that. After the press conference, we buzzed off to Sunway Lagoon, it was an insane crowd I’m telling you. We ran once Justin started singing. We were also only there to see Justin perform. I will never forget my Bieber experience ever in my life! Not everyone knows how much this means to me, Justin Bieber I love you so much. -@MyNameIsKateee See the article here: I’m Kate and I’m from Singapore. I never knew that I would get a…

My names Eesha and at 8:45am on the July 15, I met Justin Bieber…

My names Eesha and at 8:45am on the July 15, I met Justin Bieber after 3 years of waiting. The day before at around 2:00am, my friend and I put two and two together thanks to a wonderful source and found out that Justin was going to stop by Sydney on his way to Melbourne . We didn’t tweet it because our ‘source’ could of been in ALOT of trouble. On the day of, we woke up at 5:30am after 2 hours of sleeping and I got my mum to drive us to Sydney International Airport and we got there at 6:45. So far it was only me @kryptotina and @kiraajadex at the airport. We got breakfast and went back down to gate D where Justin’s flight was gonna land. After about 30 minutes of waiting, 3 more fans joined us and we went over to loading dock 6. This was the longest time of my life. We saw his flight arrive at 8:25 and we all cried. A black van drove into the driveway. We cried again. It was an emotional time okay. Then at around 8:45am, about 15 security guys walked out of the entrance and we are stood there in shock. That’s when we saw him. We tried to stay calm but that is impossible if JUSTIN FUCKING BIEBER is in front of you. I called out, “Hey Justin, come over please. There’s only 6 of us here.” He looked like he was about to walk into the car when he came and started walking towards us. I started to cry but my friend told me to calm down so I tried, but I couldn’t stop shaking. I was the first person to get a photo with Justin which was selfie style. I looked at it while Amy was getting her photo and told them that the sun was in the way. Justin moved her to a place where it would work. I got my 2nd photo next and while it was being taken, he rubbed my back. He must of felt I was shaking or something. Everyone else got their photos and then he walked back to the car. After his back was turned, I fell to the ground and cried as he was driving off. It was everything I wished for and more. I couldn’t stop crying and then we walked back into the airport. After we meet him, we’ve been contacted by channel 7 news, channel 9 news, hot hits and Sunrise. Without Justin, I have no idea what I would be like and I thank him for that. Thank you Justin, what you did today meant the world to me. Originally posted here: My names Eesha and at 8:45am on the July 15, I met Justin Bieber…

My name is Anjelica and this is my 4th Bieber experience. On…

My name is Anjelica and this is my 4th Bieber experience. On June 19th, Justin was in NY doing promo for his new album. All week I wanted to go see him. I tried getting tickets to his signing, see him at Letterman and even get him at The View; nothing was working. My 19th birthday was in two days and I was determined to meet him. On June 20th my uncle called me and asked me if tomorrow on my birthday I had anything to do. I said no and he said well now you do, you’re going to meet Justin Bieber! I was freaking out, I couldnt believe it on my 19th birthday I was going to be able to meet him! Finally the day came and I was freaking out, I didnt know what I was going to say or what would happen. My uncle had friends at the radio station who knew it was my birthday and were more excited for me then I was. Finally we get upstairs to a room where 2 other girls were who one a contest to interview him! I was freaking out and my little cousin didn’t know what to do. Finally we got to watch him get interviewed and then it was time to meet him. I let my cousin go in front of me and Justin spoke to her for about 5 minutes. He was telling her he loved her shirt and she was so cute. Now it was my turn. I walked up to him and he hugged me so tight and said “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!” I couldn’t believe it. I told him I was so embarrassed to wear the pin but he said, “No dont be!” Our first picture turned out bad because he blinked and he told the guy to take another one! After that, he said “I hope your birthday was good!” I told him I loved his tattoo and he was telling me how much we all mean to him! After that he stood there with Kenny and Alfredo and everyone talked to him, it was like just talking to your friends. He is seriously so down to earth and the most appreciated celebrity I know! Thursday June 21 was like any other Thursday. I woke up early,…

Thursday June 21 was like any other Thursday. I woke up early, got ready for work and headed out. I come home kick my shoes off, grab a bite to eat, and browse the interweb. I happened to have message on Facebook from my close friend Anita (@bieberinla95).  “Guess what? Justin Bieber will be at Radio Disney on Monday!” I literally screamed and ran around my house like an idiot. Once I calmed down, I called Anita to get all the details and make sure she was going too. After making arrangements for Monday I waited dreadfully long for the weekend to be over. I don’t think I got a full nights sleep. Finally Monday rolled around. I woke up at 6:30 am and got ready for what I hoped would be a day to remember. It was more than that. I arrived at RD at like 8:30-9ish and hung out with Twitter friends Katy and Jessica. (@loluvsJB & @katiekeegann). We waited anxiously for JB to arrive with other girls such as Shelby and Stalker Sarah. Somehow word got out about the RD interview and more girls than I could count showed up. All of us who arrived early and waited all day prayed that they wouldn’t hoard. It was about 1:30 when JB showed up and girls flocked to him like sheep without a herder. He was quickly rushed into the studio while girls screamed at the windows . I was devastated, me and Anita already knew that there was no way he would be able to stop and take pictures with all like 100 of us plus he was already running late. We both left crushed and heart broken. We decided to go to Culver City to have some lunch and then possibly head to Venice Beach. On our way to a great french bakery, we happened to get a glimpse of grey van and what looked like to be segway on the back. We quickly pulled over and asked a man walking inside what was this place. It happened to be another radio station. KROQ or AMP, they were both in there. We ran to the gate and realized that was Justin’s van! Then we caught sight of Moshe, Vanessa, and Kenny and we were like “OMG. We still have chance.” We motioned Vanessa over and begged her to please let Justin know that we were outside and we really wanted to meet him. She said that she would let him know but couldn’t make any promises. Then we tried to motion Kenny over but he waved us off claiming he was busy. We waited about 10 mins and then Justin exited out the building. Anita and I both were like, “Please, please, please, Justin come take a picture with us.” But he just got in his van and Moshe told us he was sorry but they were running late. We still tried one last time, “Pleasse Justin, PLEASEEE.” They were about to close the door and drive off when I was like “Come on guys, let’s just give up.” We turned to walk back towards our cars when we heard, “WAIT! Come back.” Moshe motioned us over and Justin greeted us outside his van . I literally cannot explain how grateful, happy, and blessed I felt. He took pictures with me, Anita, her mom’s friend’s daughter, and another fan who happened to be by there (she told me her twitter but I forgot it) and Anita’s mom. He was honestly so sweet and nice even when he was rushing and running late. All I can say guys is fate has mysterious ways of working. Seriously never give up it will happen. Take every opportunity that you can. I never thought this would happen and I was ready to go home and cry myself to sleep that night but I believed and I was determined. You will have your Bieber Experience. I promise. -@virginiaknightt  Read more: Thursday June 21 was like any other Thursday. I woke up early,…
