On the next episode of “Love and Hip-Hop” (airing at its new time on Monday Night’s at 8pm) singer Olivia gets a rude awakening from Sony Music A&R Wayne Williams about her recording career. After Olivia says that her last song “December” did “really well” Wayne totals up all of the radio spins she received on the song and had to give her hard dose of reality. “It clearly shows the record wasn’t a hit,that’s important for you to know,” he says bluntly. “2,767 spins all together, that’s not a lot. My name is Jasmin Alvarez. I’m fifteen, and I’m blind. Before I write anything about my experience, I would like to say that Justin Bieber is an incredible inspiration. He is a person worth meeting. An individual with a beautiful heart. A person that truly cares for his believers. It was back in 2009 when I heard Justin singing for the first time. I remember this day like if it were yesterday. I had just come back from school, and was loaded with tons of work, when I turned on the radio. I heard this amazing song begin to play. Ever since that moment when I heard that song, I felt like I just needed to know whom this person with such a cute little voice, was . I remember that day, after hearing the song, I called my friend, and asked her if she had heard it before. Then, that’s when I found out about Justin Bieber, who was fifteen at the time. Ever since that moment when I first heard him singing ONE TIME, I remember saying, I have to meet this person. He is amazing. Even though, I can’t see him, that didn’t matter to me, because looks are not important. They don’t determine who you are. The only thing that truly determines you as a person is your personality, and the things you do for others. So, I decided to begin my journey in trying to meet him. I knew that what I wanted wasn’t going to be easy, because I knew I was one out of millions of girls who wished the same thing, but I somehow knew that there might be a way of making my dream come true. I spent a long time trying, and trying, and writing endless emails and letters to radio stations, even though I knew at the time I had absolutely no way of standing out. Then, all of a sudden I got inspired, and wrote a song to Justin, called “IF YOU ONLY KNEW”, and I put it on Youtube. (Click here to watch) Things went well with the song, and my three amazing supporters from at @biebsmeetjasmin helped me spread my word to as many people as possible, and tried almost everything, to see if my words could get to Justin. It was hard sometimes, because I thought that no matter what I did, my words would never get to him, but then I thought of Justin’s saying to “NEVER SAY NEVER”, and that’s what helped me put those thoughts aside . Then, on July 9th, 2011, with the help of my amazing supporters, I trended on twitter for the first time . I was able to trend for about seven hours, and during that time, I got many more supporters. I remember everyone started to tweet and tweet Scooter and Justin about me. It was just crazy. I couldn’t even believe it. After about five hours or so of me trending, my friend tells me to check twitter, because Scooter tweeted about me . I started freaking out. I couldn’t even check twitter. I was trembling. When I was able to calm down, I saw his tweet. He said that he knew about me since I first put my video on youtube . That was one of the happiest days of my life. He also followed me on twitter. It was all so amazing, but I knew I couldn’t stop. I had to keep going, until I had Justin face to face. So, I continued trying, and “NEVER SAYING NEVER”. Then, on October 5th, I had the privilege of being followed by Justin Bieber himself. Words can’t say the way I felt. I was just so overjoyed, so full of happiness, I couldn’t believe it. The funny thing was, I ended up finding out that he followed me about three days later, but its ok, just the fact that he followed me, that was the best thing that happened to me. A few weeks later, I found out that Justin was going to be in a morning show , at a radio station. So, the day before, I wrote a letter to one of the staff from the morning show, and asked him if it was possible that I would be able to have a few words with Justin through the phone, and he made it happen. I can’t thank the morning show enough for giving me that chance. Talking to him on the phone was the most amazing thing. He was just so sweet to me, and in the small moment that we talked, I told him everything I felt. I asked him if he knew who I was. I told him I was Jasmin Alvarez. I was the girl that wrote a song for him. He told me that he did know who I was. He told me that he had seen my video, and that he loved the way I sang, and played piano . I was just so happy; I couldn’t hold back the tears. I couldn’t believe that every word I was saying, he was listening. I told him that since that moment when I first heard him sing, the only thing that I dreamed of doing was meeting him. I told him that I was never going to give up. At the end of our conversation, he asked me where I lived. I told him Florida. He told me that he was going to be coming down to Florida soon, because he had to do something for Disney. He said that he was going to see if something could be done, so that when he came down to Florida, we could meet. When I hung up with him, I didn’t even know what to do. I just couldn’t believe that I had actually spoken to Justin Bieber. That after so long, this very special person whom I’ve wanted to meet with all my heart, actually knew who I was, and told me that there would be a chance of us meeting. Nothing else could compare to the happiness that I was feeling in that very moment. On Friday, December 2, 2011, I decided to write a letter to Scooter. In my letter, I told him everything. Everything that I felt, and what it would mean to me, if he could make this possible. I woke up that day at 5 in the morning, and started writing my letter. I sent it around 12 p.m. It was incredible that in the moment that I sent it, so many people started sending it to Scooter and Justin. I stayed very positive, and I somehow had a feeling this was going to happen, and it did. A few hours later, I get a call from a strange number. So, I picked up the phone, and it was Kenny Hamilton. I was so nervous; I didn’t even know what to say. He asked if he could speak to a parent, so I put him on the phone with my dad. He asked us if we would be able to go to his performance in Disney the next day. We said yes. Then, he called us back and told us to be ready that in about an hour we were going to get picked up, go to Orlando stay in a hotel, and the next day, go and meet Justin! We had to pack everything fast, to be ready in an hour. About an hour later, the car got to our house, and picked us up. We drove for about three hours to Orlando. We staid the night, and woke up bright and early the next day. Now, this is the part that I wanted to get to. The part of when I met Justin . We got to the park early in the morning. Before I was taken backstage, I met Kenny. He was so sweet. He came up to me and gave me a hug. He told me he loved my voice. He was amazing. So, we were taken backstage to a room, my mom, dad, and I. I couldn’t believe what I was about to do. I felt so happy and so nervous it was just crazy. So many emotions went through me, as I waited. About fifteen minutes later, Alfredo comes in. I met him. He was amazing too. He told me not to be nervous, that Justin was excited to meet me. A few minutes later, as I sat and waited, that’s when I heard him. He said, Hi Jasmin, how are you? I stood up, and heard him get closer to me. When I felt he was right there, I reached out to him, and we both hugged. It was just amazing! I told him that I couldn’t believe I was actually meeting him. In that short moment that HIM & I were together, everything just felt right. I had finally met this person that has touched my heart, and my life in such a way. I was so nervous. I thought I was going to shut down, and not be able to say anything, but thank god that didn’t happen. He kept the conversation going, so it was just awesome! We took a few pictures together. This is the part that mostly touched me. The part that actually made me see just how amazing and caring he is. Almost at the end of our conversation, he asks me if I had any idea of what he looked like. I said no. Then, he asks me if I wanted to feel his face. I said yes, and he took my hands and put them on his face. So, I was able to feel his hair, and it was very nice and soft. I could tell he was smiling when I touched his face. I also met Scooter, and he was just as amazing as Justin. We spoke for a little too. Then, Justin gave me one last hug, and left. Then, I asked Scooter if I could hug him, and he said yes, so I hugged him. After that, I was taken outside, and I was able to be part of Justin’s amazing performance. He sang beautiful. This has been the most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life, and no matter what, I will never forget this. I don’t have words to thank Scooter, and Justin for making this possible. I’m so grateful. This has really meant the world to me. All I can say is that DREAMS DO COME TRUE . If you believe in them, and you have faith, anything is possible. ‘We’re loving every single minute of it,’ Welsh rockers tell MTV News of playing large venues. By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker The Joy Formidable Photo: Getty Images Shortly before Welsh rock band the Joy Formidable took the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden to open for the Foo Fighters earlier this month, they sat down with MTV News to discuss what a great experience the tour has been for them. “It’s such a delight being on tour with the Foos and Social Distortion,” lead singer Ritzy Bryan said, giving a shout-out to the tour’s other opening act. “The Foos heard a track of ours on the radio and really liked it,” she explained of how they came to be on the tour. “It just happened really naturally, you know, picking up on a band, supporting new music. [They] invited us on tour on the back of that. “It’s very surreal,” she added. “We’ve been playing some really big venues.” Though the band is accustomed to playing larger venues back in the U.K., all three members, including bassist Rhydian Dafydd and drummer Matt Thomas, agree that playing Madison Square Garden really means something special. “When you talk to people about Madison Square Garden back on home soil, it’s like, ‘Wow, what an iconic venue,’ ” Dafydd weighed in with a big smile. The already chipper musicians all lit up even more when we asked them what’s next for them. “We’re very, very busy now writing our next record,” Bryan said. “[We’re] just losing ourselves in that at the moment. My name is Ashley. I’m 14 and I’m from the Philippines . I’m gonna start my story with the day I knew Justin will be having a concert in our country, which was in December. When I first knew that he’d be in the Philippines, me and my friends Viel and Crismille were really excited and couldn’t wait to buy the tickets. Since it was December, I had a lot of money because it was near Christmas. I had enough money to buy the expensive ticket, but I really wanted to be in the VIP section so I had to save more. Then January came, and I didn’t eat much during lunch so I can save enough money. Then one day, my friend Viel saw her friend, which is also a Belieber. Then we knew that her sister works at the company who sells tickets for the concert. She said that the company will be giving her sister backstage passes. Viel asked her if we could come backstage as well. She told us that she needs to ask her sister first. Since I knew that me, Viel, and Crismille will be backstage during Justin’s concert, we planned a lot of stuff to do while we’re backstage. We planned to make him a scrapbook where we planned to put our letters to Justin, and other stuff. We even planned to give Jazzy a birthday gift, since Justin will have his concert on May. Then a few months passed, and it was already May. I don’t remember what day that was, but we heard from Viel’s friend that we can’t go backstage anymore. So in Facebook, we made a group for Beliebers. There were only members, me, Viel, and Crismille. There’s a talent show here in the Philippines, which is called “Showtime”. We thought that Justin will be guesting there, since Katy Perry showed up there before. So we called the TV station, but no one would answer. So we lost hope in meeting Justin. Then one day, I knew that there was a social networking site called “Beliebbook”, which is for Beliebers only. Then I talked to different people from different countries, and asked if how much they enjoyed during Justin’s concert. I got really jealous because some of them even went to his concert twice. FYI, the concert venue was in an open grounds, which means even if you don’t have a ticket, you CAN see Justin. Then I talked to a girl in Beliebbook, which is a Filipina. I told her that I still have no ticket for the concert. Then she told me, “N ever Say Never”. Then one day, Crismille asked me and Viel if we want to go to her house the following day. Since most of our plans are fail, we prayed together through chat in Facebook. and I’m the one who lead the prayer. And yes, we went to her house the following day. We don’t know what to do, so we decided to make a ”Never Say Never” shirt, which we wore on the concert. A few weeks passed, and there’s ONE WEEK LEFT, before the concert. Crismille kept on posting in our group in Facebook sad posts and stuff and I commented, “Never say never, we’ll go to that concert. We’ll see Justin.” And after a few days, Crismille called me saying that there are still tickets! Before the company said that they’re sold out. After she called me, I cried and cried and cried. So with my Dad, we went to a mall near my Mom’s office. We did our grocery there. While walking, the radio in the grocery suddenly played, “One Less Lonely Girl” which made me cry more. I gave all my savings to my mom, then we bought tickets the next day . Let’s skip to the weekend before the concert. That night, I prepared my clothes, my things, even painted my nails purple. So the next day, I was really excited. Me and my friends were screaming throughout the trip. When we went to the venue, the line was sort of long. We were there 2pm, even if the concert will start in 8pm . Since the venue was near a mall, my mom and Crismille’s mom had to wait in line while me and my friends go aound the mall. We saw TV stations interviewing girls, then in the mall, we saw different Bieber shirts. When we got out of the mall and went back in line, there was this black car, which we’re pretty sure it was Justin. Then everyone screamed. So me and my friends went behind the stage but we didn’t see him. We went back in line. Skip to the concert time. LOL. I cried 2 times during the concert, because I finally saw my idol, my inspiration, Justin Bieber. I don’t know how to describe my feelings on during the concert. When going home, beside us was a black car, which was the one we saw earlier, so for sure, Justin was there. Haha. As I got home, I went straight to bed, I can’t stop crying. I told myself, “I can’t believe it. I saw him. Justin Bieber. His saying Never Say Never really works.” The next day, me and my family will bring my grandparents to the airport. While on our way to the airport, I put the CD on play. We went past his hotel, I cried while in the car, I cried even more when ”Favorite Girl” played since it’s live.
