According to Think Progress: In an online video game, players follow shooter Adam Lanza’s footsteps the day of the Sandy Hook Elementary school mass shooting. Called “The Slaying of Sandy Hook Elementary School,” the widely condemned simulation takes players through the shootings of 26 children and adults before it shows their “score”: Game creator Ryan Jake Lambourn claims it has a “gun safety” message, but activists against gun violence are baffled and disgusted by the game. The family of Victoria Soto, a murdered Newtown teacher, took their outrage to Twitter, telling Lambourn, “Please tell us how playing a game that recreates how Vicki died would be beneficial?” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) told the Hartford Courant he hopes the “very disturbed person who could think of something like this sees the cruelty of what he’s done and stops it.” Post-Newtown, the National Rifle Association faulted video games and media, not guns, in its wide cast for blame. But the NRA is not above using controversial shooting games when it can profit from them. One month after the tragedy, the NRA released a game with coffin-shaped targets to promote gun ownership. According to TMZ: How’s this for irony … George Zimmerman belongs in prison … this, coming from one of the jurors in the Trayvon Martin case who kept him OUT of prison. Juror B29 — who identifies herself as Maddy — tells TMZ, she always had a bad feeling about Zimmerman, despite finding him not guilty of murdering Trayvon … a verdict she begrudgingly reached through a strict interpretation of the law. Now, she says Zimmerman’s domestic violence arrest is proof he’s not freedom-worthy … “God is showing George’s true side … [George] is continuing to dig himself a bigger grave.” The juror believes Zimmerman will continue to commit violent acts until someone lays down the law … telling us, “He NEEDS to do some type of time … He thinks he is invincible.” Where was this common sense during his trial when it mattered?

According to Hollywood Reporter: MSNBC has suspended Alec Baldwin’s new talk show for two weeks after the actor turned talk-show host’s use of gay slurs drew widespread criticism. The announcement Friday followed the controversial actions of the 30 Rock star over the past several days. Up Late With Alec Baldwin had premiered only a month ago, on October 11. “I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have — and for that I am deeply sorry,” Baldwin said in a statement. “Words are important. I understand that and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand Up Late will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week.” On Thursday, TMZ published a video showing the actor hurling gay slurs at a photographer who had been in a confrontation with Baldwin. The video was widely circulated online, and the host’s language drew wide condemnation, including from gay-rights advocacy group GLAAD. Baldwin has since apologized on Twitter for causing offense. He reiterated that in a note posted to MSNBC’s site Friday: “I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at MSNBC — both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. In teachers fawking the student news… Teacher Pleads Guilty To Having Sex With Students Why would someone risk their career and reputation for some high school box? According to Star Telegram: A former high school teacher pleaded guilty Monday to four counts of having an improper relationship with students. Brandon Ashley McDaniel, 38, had been accused of having sexual relationships with five students at Sam Houston High School in Arlington. McDaniel could receive a maximum of 20 years in prison on each count. He asked a Tarrant County jury to recommend his punishment, so testimony in the sentencing phase began Monday. A 20-year-old woman who now attends Texas A&M University testified that she was 17 when McDaniel sent her text messages that grew more sex-related over time. He asked if she was a virgin, and one message asked if she touched herself, she told the jury. McDaniel also asked her if he was a bad person for wanting to kiss her. “One day in October, he kissed me,” she said. “A full-blown, on the mouth kiss.” Two days after that, they started going out after school in his maroon Dodge Durango, she said. She would take his keys and duck down low in the passenger seat and wait for him. They would have oral sex in the Durango, she testified. McDaniel told her that he had never cheated on his wife before. The next woman to testify Monday — now a 20-year-old University of Texas at Arlington student — told the jury that McDaniel said the same thing to her about never cheating on his wife. The woman called McDaniel “a laid-back teacher” who did not dress professionally. She took his English class, which she characterized as easy. Disgusting. They exchanged cellphone numbers after McDaniel asked her to do the lighting for a dance program, the woman said. Later, she got a text message from him while she was at work that said: “Tell me your darkest fantasy.” One day while they were in the computer lab, McDaniel started kissing her. They played truth-or-dare in text messages, the woman testified. And they had oral sex in a classroom. “He said he never cheated on his wife,” the woman said. Arlington school administrators placed McDaniel on administrative leave on Feb. 8, 2012, and he resigned in March. Both women who testified Monday said they initially did not want to take the stand. Both said their parents were not aware that they were testifying. One woman testified that she told police about having sex with McDaniel, but then recanted everything and signed a statement for McDaniel’s defense attorneys, Lex Johnston and Cynthia Fitch, saying that she did not wish to prosecute. “I thought all the parties involved had equal responsibility and it was unfair for just him to be at fault,” the woman said. Alana Minton, a Tarrant County prosecutor working on the case with Christy Jack, asked the woman if she wanted to be on the witness stand Monday. “I had put this all behind me,” she said. “This is just bringing it all back up.” Testimony resumes today in state District Judge Robb Catalano’s court. This is brutal. Woman Loses Arms After Pit Bull Attack This pit bull was part of her family and it turned on her. SMH. According to The Hartford Courant: A 65-year-old woman lost all of one arm and part of the other after she was savagely attacked by her family’s pitbull on Monday, police said. The woman, identified as Anne Murray of 77 Range Road, is in stable condition at Norwalk Hospital, police said. The dog was wandering in the road when it attracted the attention of a woman who was driving through the residential neighborhood around 11:30 a.m., said Wilton Police Lt. Donald Wakeman. Initially worried about the dog’s safety, the woman got out of the car and tried to corral it, Wakeman said. But the dog acted aggressively toward her, and she returned to her car. Another motorist then came by, and together the two were able to get the dog into Murray’s driveway. Then they heard Murray, who was hiding under a vehicle in the driveway, injured and calling for help. Police Capt. John Lynch was the first officer to arrive, a release states. He shot and killed the dog. Murray had bite injuries up and down her body, Wakeman said, from her legs to the side of her head. She lost one arm completely and the other below the elbow, he said. Wilton’s animal control department dealt with the dog twice this summer, Wakeman said — in July and August, both times for complaints of the dog roaming off the property. It had resided in the home for nearly two years, Wakeman said. According to Raw Story: A Macon, Georgia pastor who expressed concern over his connection to God killed himself while his family and congregation were at his church, WMAZ-TV reported on Monday. The Rev. Teddy Parker Jr. was found dead outside his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head following the Sunday service at Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Christian Post reported that Parker sent his wife and two daughters to the church ahead of him before the service. “When he didn’t show up they went looking for him,” a church member, Russell Rowland, told the Post. “I’m very surprised because he didn’t preach that. He preached totally against it. It’s something that the congregation don’t really understand.” The Post also cited a 2010 sermon, “Facing Your Storm With Confidence,” in which Parker told his parishoners there had been moments in his life when he did not feel his connection with God.“I try to pray but I don’t feel like God is hearing me,” Parker said at the time. “I try to serve but I don’t feel like God is using me. And there are times in your life when God purposely withdraws from you, he doesn’t withdraw for the sake of leaving you but he withdraws so you can grow and mature.” Prayers go out to his family.
