Even though Teresa Giudice is headed to prison soon, that doesn’t mean the troubled Housewife has any plans to let up in her relentless hustling. Along with her husband Joe, Teresa sat down for an interview with Bravo recently to speak publicly about her crimes and punishment for the first time since her sentencing. Teresa Giudice Reacts to Prison Sentence The interview will air in its entirety tonight, but regardless of whether or not it turns out to be the ratings bonanza that Bravo is banking on, it’s already proven to be a hugely lucrative 30 minutes for the Giudices. The couple was reportedly paid $325,000 for offering Bravo honcho Andy Cohen first crack at an interview. The network initially offered $275,000 for Teresa alone, but threw in an extra 50 grand in order for Joe to join her. Of course, the Giudices have been ordered to pay $414,000 in restitution, which means that all of the money they make from the interview will go to directly the victims of their various financial scams. It’s still a pretty sweet deal for Joe and Teresa, as they’re now well on their to settling their debt just days after being sentenced. Teresa has been ordered to report to prison on January 5 in order to begin serving her 15-month sentence. Joe Giudice has been sentenced to 41 months , and will begin his serving his time after his wife is released. Ratings in recent seasons have plummeted, much like every love-seeker does over the side of a building or off a bridge on a “romantic” one on one date. While some of that is due to Juan Pablo Galavis’ unexpected transformation into a giant douchebag, part of it is also because people can’t relate. American Idol and Duck Dynasty returned to the airwaves last night, but the returns weren’t especially triumphant. Idol, for example, garnered 15 million total viewers, but only a 4.5 rating among 18-49-year olds, which set a record low for the series. This, despite America falling in love with Harry Connick, Jr. Harry Connick Jr. Dominates Idol Premiere Duck Dynasty Season 5 , meanwhile, introduced viewers to Rebecca Robertson. But the opener was down 3.5 million total households from its Season 4 premiere a year ago. Among the aforementioned key demographic, ratings fell by 33 percent. Matt Lauer may be a member of the media, but that doesn’t mean he’s a fan of the media. Asked in the latest issue of Esquire about Ann Curry’s firing and the blame for it being placed at his feet, the embattled Today anchor could not hide his disdain for how the event was covered. “The way the media treated what happened with Ann Curry was a disappointing learning experience,” he says. “I was disappointed by the laziness of the media, the willingness to read a rumor, repeat that rumor, and treat it as a fact.” Those rumors, of course, have not quieted for Lauer. Source claim he recently refused a pay cut , forcing NBC to fire a number of Today staffers. He’s also been accused of being demeaning and dismissive of those below him. “What were my options?” Lauer asks of the Curry situation. “Does anyone want to see a person who’s making the money that the newspapers say I’m making complaining, “Woe is me, my life is terrible, and people are being unfair”? “No one would’ve had any patience for that. I wouldn’t have any patience for that. So you just shut up and go about doing your job and hope that people who know you well – your friends and your family – know what’s true.” Many still believe that Lauer pushed for Curry’s ousting. He’s admitted in the months since that the ordeal was not handled well and he hopes viewers give the program a chance to rebound. So far, so not good, though. Today has fallen behind Good Morning America in the ratings and Lauer’s seat behind the main desk may soon go from hot to scorching.
