Yesterday, we reported that Taylor Swift probably have lied about a $25 million mansion that she bought in Southern California. We still don’t know exactly why Swift chose to deny the purchase, but she’s been mum on the issue ever since she was busted by TMZ. Some have claimed that the singer needs to keep her real estate holdings under wraps in order to preserve a modicum of privacy. Others have pointed out that if that’s her agenda, she should adopt a policy of refusing to confirm or deny any real estate deals, rather than dredging up the issue and accusing the press of lying, as she did in this case. In any event, this isn’t the first time that Taylor has been accused of being less than truthful with her fans. Back in January, Taylor’s first guitar teacher revealed that many of the details regarding Taylor’s idyllic childhood are complete fabrications. Now, several media outlets are unearthing past instances in which Taylor appears to have purposely misled her fans, including another case where Swift lied about buying a house . In 2013, when Taylor was dating Conor Kennedy , there were reports that she purchased a house near his family’s home (Conor was still in high school at the time) in Cape Cod. And as you may have guessed, it later turned out that she did buy the house, and she was “actively spotted” there on numerous occasions. Obviously Taylor is entitled to make whatever deals she wants with her vast fortune, and she can and should do what she feels is necessary to protect her privacy. That said, her habit of going on the offensive and placing blame whenever she’s caught in a lie is a bit ugly.

Speaking at the annual Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa today, Trump lashed out at longtime rival John McCain in a fashion that seemed to appall the mostly Republican crowd on hand. “He's not a war hero,” Trump said of the 78-year-old Arizona senator. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured.” McCain, of course, spent five years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, where he was routinely tortured. Trump's shocking attack on McCain's military record was met with scattered boos from the audience. Moments ago, Trump issued a statement denying that he ever said McCain is not a war hero, despite the fact that his comments were captured on video. Normally, such a grievous error in judgment would be considered a death knell for any presidential campaign, but Trump's foot has been lodged firmly in his mouth for weeks, and his has popularity has only surged as a result. Many analysts predicted Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants would doom his campaign, and yet the controversial real estate mogul bafflingly holds the top spot amongst Republican candidates in the latest CNN poll. Of course, the same base that loved it when Trump slammed Hillary Clinton as “desperate and sad” may feel quite differently about his comments regarding a beloved party leader.

Moises de la Renta was adopted by the couturier from an orphanage in the Dominican Republic following the death of his first wife Françoise de Langlade in 1983. Moises, 30, has now been left a relatively small bequest from his late father’s $26 million estate – and has been warned that if he ever tried to contest the will he would be cut out completely, court documents show. The pair fell out after Moises attempted to launch his own women’s fashion line in 2005. His father, who is considered one of the most iconic designers of all time and dressed everyone from Jackey Kennedy Onassis to Amal Clooney, never forgave him for the move, Page Six reports. Annette de la Renta was bequeathed the majority of her husband’s real estate portfolio, including a $13million Park Avenue apartment in New York, a $2.8million house in Kent, Connecticut and his estate in Dominica. It’s been almost a month since Robert Durst was arrested for the murder of Susan Berman, and if he’s convicted, the millionaire real estate heir could face the death penalty. Durst has been linked to a number of other disappearances , and though he’s beaten murder raps before, the odds seem stacked against him this time, and public opinion is certainly not on his side. So naturally, what’s weighing on Durst’s mind most heavily these days is – you guessed it – pro football and opera. Durst (or someone claiming to be Durst) recently sent a bizarre letter to Los Angeles Times reporter Molly Hennesey Fiske, in which he rambled about everything from LA traffic to a past medical ailment. “My interests are pro football and opera,” Durst writes in childlike, chicken-scratch script. “Your politics and business leaders have chosen to fight rather than agree to disagree and there was no football. “Liked LA opera except for Wagner’s Ring cycle with the absurd costumes and sloped stage, a true example of Hollywood gone berserk.” Durst went on to cover his bases legally by clarifying that the letter says nothing about “charges, crimes or trials.” He then extends an offer for the reporter to visit him when he “get[s] to LA.” The letter is signed simply, “Bob.” Seems harmless, but considering some of the stories about Durst that have emerged in recent weeks, Hennesey-Fiske is probably than a little creeped out by the experience of receiving the letter. It’s been nearly two weeks since Robert Durst was arrested for the murder of Susan Berman, but new stories of his bizarre and – in some cases – highly suspicious behavior continue to emerge daily. Last week, we learned that Durst may have practiced killing by slaughtering his own pet dogs. Shortly thereafter, the judge who presided over the real estate heir’s 2003 murder trial revealed that she believes Durst left a cat’s head on her doorstep after he’d been found not guilty. Of course, these allegations are nothing compared to the atrocities that Durst is accused of committing against humans. He’s been a person of interest in no fewer than three murder investigations, and now police are investigating a possible link between Durst and a fourth disappearance – this one more than 40 years old. In 1971, Durst and his then-girlfriend Kathleen McCormack (whom Durst was later suspected of murdering) owned a health food store in the town of Middlebury, Vermont. That same year, an 18-year-old college freshman named Lynn Schulze disappeared. The case has never been solved, and state police say that in 2012, a tipster informed them that Durst may have been involved in the Schulze case. Middlebury Police Chief Tom Hanley told reporters today that he is not yet ready to call Durst a suspect, but the 71-year-old possible triple-murderer is being investigated. In other Durst news, a woman named Linda Walker Zevallos says that she dated Durst briefly in 2000, and things quickly turned sour. Not surprisingly, she reports that the relationship didn’t last long due to Durst’s bizarre and often frightening behavior. Zevallos says she began to grow concerned the first time she visited Durst’s sparsely-furnished apartment and saw that he kept a large saw in the living room. The final straw came when Durst drove Zevallos and her 13-year-old son, Matthew, to dinner one night. “He said, ‘Oh, I forgot. I’ve got two guns in the backseat. That distinction now belongs to Nigerian oil baroness and fashionista Folorunsho Alakija. Alakija is worth at least $3.3 billion — about $300 million more than American television personality Oprah — Ventures Africa reports. The 62-year-old started her career as a secretary at the erstwhile Merchant Bank of Nigeria, but moved to England in the early 1980s to study fashion design. She then returned to her native country and set up a high-end label called Supreme Stitches. Although she amassed some wealth from the label, a significant proportion of Alakija’s fortune comes from an oil-exploration license granted to her company Famfa Ltd. in 1993. The 617,000-acre oil block would go on to become the highly lucrative OML 127, in which Alakija’s family retains a 60% stake.
