Justin Bieber’s ‘Ride’ Leaks Online

The previously unheard tune appeared on the Internet Wednesday. By James Dinh Justin Bieber Photo: George Pimentel/ WireImage Despite his young and tender age, it should be painfully apparent that Justin Bieber is quite the ladies’ man. So it comes as no surprise that the pop star took to the studio to confess his love-stricken teenage emotions through his music. In the latest of his odes to women comes the previously unheard track called “Ride,” which surfaced on the Internet Wednesday (December 22). Over a beat that sounds similar to old-school video game sound effects, Bieber serenades his adorer, confessing that he’d go above and beyond to spend time with her. “We could go anywhere, to the moon and through the air/ We could go to the movies or the mall, baby I don’t care/ Yeah this is true, wanna be with you/ And I just wanna ride with you,” he sings. No word on whether the sugary tune is old or a possible submission for Bieber’s next project. However, the tune sounds like it might be a demo for a female vocalist as the pop singer ends the first verse with the line: “I could be your queen but you could be my boo.” “Ride” isn’t the only new Bieber song to have surfaced online recently as Justin’s club-ready “Latin Girl” also leaked just a few weeks ago. In addition to the tracks, Biebs has also been in and out of the recording studio with some familiar faces working on his next album, which is tentatively set to drop late next year. While it’s not clear whether Diddy will make an appearance on the Canadian heartthrob’s next project, one act the singer is confirmed to have worked with is Rascal Flatts . The country trio’s lead singer, Gary LeVox, spoke about the Bieber collabo in a recent interview with country radio station WSIX. “[Justin] asked us to do a duet with him on his next record,” he said. “It’s actually a really good song! The kid is really talented. He plays five or six different instruments really well.” Related Artists Justin Bieber

‘American Idol’ Moving To New Night

The Fox hit will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning January 19. By Mawuse Ziegbe Photo: FOX As its tenth season nears, “American Idol” continues to shake things up. Fox announced on Friday that in January the amateur-talent juggernaut will now air on Wednesdays and Thursdays after launching from a Tuesday-night slot for years. According to the network’s 2010 to 2011 midseason schedule, Tuesdays will lead with “Glee” at 8 p.m., followed by “Raising Hope” and a new sitcom “Mixed Signals.” The lineup change is the latest in a slew of revamps to the Fox hit. The buzzed-about judges’ panel was completely overhauled and now includes Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler alongside “Idol” veteran Randy Jackson . The minimum age limit was also lowered to 15. In addition, the show will no longer whittle down the finalists from 24 to 12, and instead just introduce a dozen singers for fans to vote for. Tenth-season hopefuls will also be tasked with crafting memorable visuals as part of a brand new music video competition. Lythoe has dished on how Tyler and Lopez are approaching their new gigs, praising them for their serious take on the job. He also added that longtime critic Jackson is stepping up his game and providing pithy insight. “Randy is pulling his weight,” Lythgoe said recently . “He really has stepped up. He’s essentially come out of himself. He’s enjoying being in that position.” Lopez has also said that next season with show will be more forgiving with auditioners, and try not to let panicky nerves get in the way of recognizing a talented hopeful. “I don’t want to let anybody really great [not make it through] because they’re nervous, and not get to see what they could have did,” Lopez said in September . “They’re going to come in here and be a little bit nervous in the beginning, and then you realize, ‘Wow, that person is really talented.’ So we work them a little bit more than maybe you’ve seen in the past. We’ve given them more of a chance.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page, where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Lindsay Lohan Nominated For New Brat Pack By ‘Breakfast Club’ Cast

‘I hope that no one gets that mantle put on them,’ Judd Nelson says at movie’s 25th anniversary screening. By Eric Ditzian Molly Ringwald Photo: MTV News In February of 1985, the young hot-shot actors soon to be dubbed the Brat Pack assembled in Los Angeles for the premiere of their brand-new flick, “The Breakfast Club.” A then-16-year-old Molly Ringwald settled into her seat with an eye on heading home to do homework afterward. Meanwhile, Judd Nelson and Emilio Estevez where nowhere to be seen. “Emilio and I were in the bathroom throwing up from sheer nerves,” Nelson recalled. “It was already playing and we walked out like, ‘We can’t watch this!’ We knew it was a great script, but you don’t know if the public will think that way.” Just over 25 years later, a considerably less nervous Nelson gathered with his cohorts to celebrate the film’s silver anniversary and to honor the memory of Hughes, who passed away in August 2009 at the age of 59. And as the cast (minus Estevez) walked the red carpet outside the Paris Theatre in New York, they spoke to MTV News about which young actors have taken over the pop culture mantle of the Brat Pack. “I have to say Lindsay Lohan is a really, really talented actress, and my heart goes out to her,” Ringwald told us. “I really wish the press would lay off of her and that somebody would step up and really help her.” “Lindsay Lohan!” seconded Ally Sheedy, before adding, “There are all the cool ‘Harry Potter’ kids!” Hughes became inextricably bound up with the Brat Pack back in the day, writing and directing films like “Sixteen Candles,” “Pretty in Pink” and, of course, “Breakfast Club.” Anthony Michael Hall, who first collaborated with Hughes for 1983’s “Vacation,” noted how a new generation of directors has risen up after Hughes to address similar issues of alienation and slackerdom. “Judd Apatow does great work. Kevin Smith does great work,” he said. “In terms of the young talent in the industry today, I salute them. The world has changed so much, and it’s more competitive than ever.” For his part, Nelson remains wary, even 25 years later, of the Brat Pack label. “I hope that no one gets that mantle put on them,” he said. “I’m not a fan of that term. I think people look back on that term in a cuddly way, but I still think it’s reprehensible. I hope that no one is painted with such a broad brush.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

Jake Abel Joins ‘I Am Number Four’ Cast

‘Every day has been nothing but eating and lifting weights,’ the ‘Percy Jackson’ actor says of preparing to play a quarterback. By Josh Wigler Jake Abel Photo: Amy Graves/ Getty Images “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” actor Jake Abel has joined the cast of “I Am Number Four,” director D.J. Caruso’s adaptation of James Frey and Jobie Hughes’ forthcoming science-fiction novel of the same name, MTV News has learned exclusively. The sci-fi story focuses on nine aliens who survive the destruction of their home world at the hands of a ruthless rival species. The survivors flee to Earth and blend into their human surroundings in order to hide from the aliens who continue to hunt them. Abel will play Mark James, a high school football player who sees a social threat in Number Four, the young protagonist and new kid in school played by “Beastly” actor Alex Pettyfer. “Mark is a football player at the school and he’s skeptical of the new kid because he’s trying to move in on his ex-girlfriend,” Abel told MTV News in an exclusive interview. “He’s the high school jock who’s just loaded with insecurities. He masks them with his bravado and intimidation, but he’s threatened because this new kid is coming to school and there’s a lot of attention on him. A lot is happening around him.” Despite his experience as the villainous Luke Castellan in “Percy Jackson,” Abel’s antagonizing ways won’t intersect too heavily with the overarching sci-fi story of “I Am Number Four.” “Unfortunately, I’m not really getting involved with all of the crazy sci-fi stuff,” said the actor. “In a previous draft, there was a big fight scene that Mark was a part of and I was stoked for it. It was so wicked. Then I got a new rewrite, and suddenly Mark wasn’t in a fight anymore. I was really kind of bummed by that. It would have been a lot of fun!” That doesn’t mean Abel isn’t getting physical for the role. The actor revealed that he’s currently on a rigorous workout campaign to get into the kind of shape his football-playing character should be in. “Kind of at the last minute, D.J. Caruso reached out to me and said, ‘I want you to get big.’ So now they’ve got me [working with] a trainer, and now every day has been nothing but eating and lifting weights,” he laughed. “Luckily, he’s a quarterback, so he doesn’t have to be huge!” He’ll have to get into that idealized shape quickly, as Abel said he begins filming his role on June 9. Asked what he found the most appealing about “I Am Number Four,” the actor revealed: “What attracted me to it was D.J. Caruso, hands down. That’s what really made me want to do this. I think he’s really talented and has potential to be phenomenal. When we did the reading process for the audition, the notes that he gave me, we kind of spoke the same language. I’m really excited to see how he handles the situation on set.” Abel joins a growing cast, including the previously mentioned Pettyfer as Number Four, Timothy Olyphant as his guardian Henri, Teresa Palmer as the alluring Number Six and Kevin Durand as an alien antagonist. Crystal Bowersox Profile: ‘I’m Not Letting Anything Go To My Head’

‘American Idol’ Top 12 cheat sheet looks at Bowersox’s strengths and weaknesses. By Jim Cantiello Crystal Bowersox Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage On Thursday night, “American Idol” revealed its Top 12 Finalists for the ninth season of the hit show. MTV News “Idol” expert Jim Cantiello whipped up a handy cheat sheet for each finalist, breaking down each candidate’s journey thus far. He also got the “Idol” hopefuls to weigh in when he caught up with them at Thursday night’s Top 12 Party in Hollywood. CRYSTAL BOWERSOX Crystal Bowersox is as obvious a choice for “American Idol” as Ellen DeGeneres. The Ohio native seems like she’d be more at home on AM Radio circa 1976 than a highly-rated reality competition. But somehow, the dreadlocked singer/songwriter has captured the imagination of “Idol” viewers and judges alike with her so-retro-it’s-cool-again vibe and fish-out-of-water attitude. Best Performance : Bowersox wowed with a passionate gospel-tinged “Long As I Can See The Light” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, made all the more poignant and emotional thanks to a headline-grabbing health scare that almost resulted in the show’s first-ever medical disqualification . But her recent Tracy Chapman cover gave us even more reasons to chant “BOWERSOX! BOWERSOX!” Weakest Performance : Alanis Morissette’s “Hand In My Pocket” seemed like a good idea at the time. The song fit her troubadour aesthetic and she got to flaunt her harmonica skills. (Take that, Taylor Hicks!) But it ended up feeling too predictable and safe, leaving Simon to gripe that there are thousands of street performers doing the same thing all over America. Ouch. Sad Backstory : After last week’s dramatic hospital visit , Crystal’s struggle with diabetes made its way into her narrative on the show. And like fellow frontrunner Andrew Garcia, Bowersox is the parent of an adorable toddler. Why She Will Win : Bowersox recalls past “Idol” fan favorites like Jason Castro and Bo Bice, yet she’s been able to carve out an identity all her own. She’s also showing more personality the longer she’s on TV, and it sparkles. (Her swipe at Simon for having a two-story trailer was hilarious without being disrespectful.) On a superficial level, her name is a memorable one, particularly when uttered by Simon Cowell on various talk shows (he’s a fan). Why She Will Lose : Bowersox had never watched “Idol” before, so she may be thrown for a loop when she’s expected to sing a disco tune or a Broadway number. If she’s smart, she’ll watch every single Adam Lambert and Kris Allen “Idol” performance. Those two had a knack for picking songs and arrangements that fit their specific identities. (Well, perhaps Crystal should avoid Kris’ Don Henley number. We’re still not sure what happened that week.) What She Should Sing : To help Crystal avoid turning into a ’70s jukebox clich

Chris Brown: Ridin’ Dirty … Enough?

One year after beating the crap out of Rihanna, Chris Brown has been rebuilding his image and career, belting out hits on Graffiti, attending Fashion Week , etc. But the Rihanna case lingers. Brown will face an L.A. judge today to determine if he is doing enough to satisfy his probation on his felony assault conviction. Judge Patricia Schnegg has been skeptical about the type of community service Brown has been performing in Virginia – and whether it’s been true hard labor. Chris’ sentence actually called for hundreds of hours of community labor, not just service – meaning he has to be poundin’ the pavement (not just Keri Hilson ). Will Chris Brown be all smiles in a couple of hours? Brown and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, will go before Schnegg today with a list showing Chris got plenty dirty performing community service on Virginia roads. Hopefully for his sake, Mark makes a compelling case. Otherwise his relatively light sentence for an assault case could become a whole lot heavier in a hurry. Stay tuned …

Lady Gaga Debuts Hair Phone

Already well known for outrageous hairstyles and fashion, Lady Gaga may have outdone even herself this time, debuting a hair phone in her “Telephone” music video. By hair phone, we mean a phone made of hair. Literally! In stills from her latest performance art piece, with which she collaborated with Beyonce, Gaga is seen with a phone stuck to the side of her head. Somehow it works. She’s really weird. She’s also really talented. When you’re a rumored hermaphrodite who dresses like Marie Antoinette on HGH, what’s a little phone made of hair? It’s not the first time Gaga and Beyonce have combined their talents. The music superstars originally teamed up together for a remix of Beyonce’s “Video Phone.” Click to enlarge some more Lady Gaga pictures from “Telephone” …
